- Men's Skateboard Street: Nyjah Huston Takes 1st Place, Toa Sasaki Claims 2nd Place, and Giovanni Vianna Finishes 3rd

- Women's Skateboard Street: Liz Akama Claims 3rd Place

PARIS, Oct. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Back on top! Monster Energy congratulates team rider Nyjah Huston on taking first place in Men's Skateboard Street at the SLS Paris competition in France on Saturday. In the international skateboard competition presented by Street League Skateboarding (SLS), the 31-year-old from Laguna Beach, California, earned a dominant victory in front of a high-energy crowd inside Stade Roland-Garros arena.

In a complete podium sweep for team Monster Energy, 19-year-old Toa Sasaki from Mie, Japan, claimed second place in the high-stakes final. Completing the takeover, 25-year-old Giovanni Vianna from Santo André, Brazil, claimed third place.

Also on Saturday, the Women's Skateboard Street final saw 17-year-old Liz Akama of Miyagi, Japan, claim third place facing a stacked international field of riders.

On October 3, SLS Paris 2026 presented by Winamax brought the world's best male and female street skaters to the iconic Stade Roland-Garros in Paris for the fifth stop of the 2026 SLS Championship Tour. As the only European stop on this year's calendar, the French capital transformed the famous French Open tennis venue into a custom professional street-skateboarding arena for nearly 10,000 spectators.

Here is how the action unfolded for Team Monster Energy at SLS Paris 2026:

In the Men's Skateboard Street final featuring eight elite riders, Nyjah Huston dropped in as a seven-time SLS SuperCrown World Champion with 27 career wins in SLS events under his belt. Freshly returned from injury and facing a new generation of young contenders, Huston was ready to battle for yet another win.

In his second attempt in the Run section, Huston earned a Nine Club score with a stacked line. Covering the California Skateparks-designed course with nollie heelflip backside lipslide the kink rail, kickflip backside disaster the quarter pipe, kickflip the bump, backside Smith grind transfer the hip rail, switch frontside kickflip the bump to bump, backside 180 nosegrind the Euro Gap rail, backside overcrook the curved rail, nollie backside heelflip the Euro Gap, and switch heelflip frontside boardslide the kink rail earned Huston 9.2 points.

When the action moved into Best Trick attempts, Huston maintained his grip by finessing a switch frontside heelflip tailslide the kink rail for 9.1 points. On the next attempt, Huston earned the third consecutive Nine Club score of the final by landing a technical frontside nollie heelflip noseblunt slide the kink rail for 9.2 points, taking a dominant lead over the rest of the field.

Cementing his victory on the third Best Trick attempt, Huston sent a huge switch frontside flip over the bump to flat for 8.9 points. With a total score of 36.4 points that no other rider could match, Huston claimed a dominant victory.

"The wins keep getting better and more rewarding," said Huston after claiming the victory at SLS Paris 2026, adding: "You really can't take anything for granted at this point. We're out here. Still got it. Let's go!"

Saturday's win at SLS Paris 2026 marked Huston's 28th SLS victory after 16 years of competing in the competition series. "Talking numbers, I do want to get to thirty wins, and this is a step closer to that. The motivation is just my love for skateboarding. I love all sorts of skateboarding, but I also have this competitive side to me, and that's what keeps me going," said Huston, adding: "It's an addiction. Not just the feeling of winning, but also the feeling of landing a sick trick and the crowd being hyped."

Huston now holds first place in the 2026 SLS Super Crown season rankings with 47 points.

Huston's closest competition came from Japanese upstart Toa Sasaki. Putting together a perfect second Run in the final featuring frontside 180 switch feeble 180 out the kink rail, frontside noseblunt the quarter pipe, 360 kickflip the bump, frontside nosegrind transfer the hip rail, massive backside 360 ollie the bump to flat, frontside blunt the quarter pipe, nollie heelflip the bump, Caballerial backside lipslide fakie the kink rail, and backside noseblunt slide the Hubba ledge earned Sasaki 8.7 points.

Moving into Best Trick, Sasaki put down a Caballerial backside noseblunt slide fakie the kink rail for 8.9 points. On the second attempt, he stoked the crowd with a nollie 180 nosegrind back to regular the kink rail for 8.6 points.

When the final came down to the fifth and final attempt, Sasaki found himself in third place with a chance to improve his spot with a banger. And he did! Landing a nollie frontside heelflip noseblunt slide the kink rail netted Sasaki a Nine Club score of 9.2 points and bumped his total to 35.4 points for second place.

Rounding out a full podium sweep for the team, Giovanni Vianna from Brazil started strong in the Run section by stringing together a backside overcrook the flat rail, nollie backside big spin the Euro Gap, Half Cab frontside 5-0 the kink rail, frontside feeble transfer the hip rail, heelflip frontside boardslide the Euro Gap rail, switch crooked the Hubba ledge, and Caballerial frontside noseslide fakie the kink rail for 8.8 points on his first attempt.

In the Best Trick section, Vianna had the Paris crowd on its feet by landing a powerful boardslide up the kink rail from flat, earning a Nine Club score of 9.0 points. On his third attempt, Vianna earned another Nine Club entry with a frontside Half Cab backside Smith grind the kink rail for 9.0 points, and a total score of 26.8 points for third place.

On the strength of Saturday's podium finish, Vianna now holds second place in 2026 SLS Super Crown rankings with 45 points.

Earlier on Saturday, the Women's Skateboard Street event saw Liz Akama from Japan go head-to-head against the most competitive riders on the circuit. In the Run section, the Olympic silver medalist put together a backside lipslide the kink rail, frontside 180 backward 50-50 the ledge, frontside feeble grind the flat rail, frontside big spin the bump to bump, backside Smith grind the kink rail, and crooked grind the rail for 7.2 points.

In Best Trick, she landed a technical Barley grind to straight on the kink rail for 7.8 points on her first attempt. On the third attempt, Akama hit the kink rail with a backside hurricane grind for 7.9 points. On the fourth attempt, she punched her ticket to the podium by sending a frontside heelflip bigspin over the bump to bump for 7.6 points, for a total of 30.5 points and third place.

SIBIONICS and PharmaSens Explore New Horizons for Automated Insulin Delivery at EASD 2026

MILAN, Oct. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- At the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) 2026, SiBionics presented "See More, Act Earlier," connecting continuous sensing with future diabetes care. Three exhibition chapters shaped this vision: "See More: Beyond Glucose," covering glucose, ketone and combined monitoring; "Act Earlier: From Insight to Intervention," exploring multimodal sensing and insulin delivery; and "Go Further: Realizing the Unimagined," looking toward broader biosensing applications.

The vision was further explored at the SiBionics industry symposium, "From Sensors to Integrated Care: Emerging Technologies Shaping the Future of Diabetes Management." The symposium was chaired by Prof. Mark Evans, of the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Hospitals, United Kingdom, and Dr. Guido Freckmann, of the Institute for Diabetes-Technology GmbH (IfDT), Germany.

Prof. Karolina Kędzierska-Kapuza discussed CGM and individualized care in type 3c diabetes. Prof. Wei Qiang presented CGM accuracy findings and future multimodal sensing concepts. Prof. Andrej Janež explored continuous ketone monitoring in the GLP-1 era. Prof. Ahmad Haidar presented ketone monitoring research and the first findings of the SMART02 feasibility study on integrated glucose sensing and insulin delivery.

SMART02 evaluated an early prototype of niia signature, an investigational device jointly developed by PharmaSens and SiBionics since the two companies announced their collaboration in June 2025. niia signature will combine continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin delivery and an automated glucose control (AGC) algorithm in one wearable patch. It aims to reduce the burden of managing separate devices for automated insulin delivery (AID).

The study addressed a central integration challenge: maintaining glucose measurement performance when insulin is delivered close to the sensor. Temporary interference after a bolus was uncommon overall and occurred mainly with doses of 10 units or more, where the probability was 20 to 25%. On average, the sensor signal fully recovered approximately 20 minutes after bolus delivery. In the second part of the study, the prototype was also tested together with the AGC algorithm developed by Prof. Ahmad Haidar. The PharmaSens niia patch pump, the SiBionics sensor and the AGC algorithm performed consistently throughout the study. The findings, also featured at the SiBionics booth, mark an early development milestone.

Together, the exhibition and symposium connected clinical needs with emerging technologies. Through niia signature, PharmaSens and SiBionics are exploring how integration could make future AID easier to wear and use. Further research is needed to establish its performance and clinical potential.

niia signature is an investigational device. It is not approved or cleared in any market and is not available for sale.

Corboy & Demetrio files Lawsuit for Family of Frankfort Girl Killed by School Bus
Image File
Original HTML

CHICAGO, Oct. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Corboy & Demetrio has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against two school districts for the death of Jenna Menias, a 6-year-old girl struck and killed on Sept. 8, 2026, seconds after being dropped off by the districts' jointly operated school bus.

The wrongful death lawsuit names Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 and Frankfort School District 157-C as defendants. Jenna, a second grader at District 157-C, was being transported by a school bus operated by District 210 pursuant to an intergovernmental agreement between the districts. The lawsuit was filed by Corboy & Demetrio Partner Daniel S. Kirschner who represents the estate.

"Districts 210 and 157-C had every opportunity to prevent this unimaginable tragedy from happening to Jenna and they failed her and the Menias family at every turn," according to Kirschner. "As this complaint explains, safeguard, upon safeguard, upon safeguard were consciously disregarded not just in real time by the driver, but by two school districts charged with the responsibility of putting the safety of this child first," Kirschner added.

Several weeks before Jenna was killed, her mom expressed concern to District 157-C that the bus route and drop-off procedures, which amounted to Jenna being dropped off alone, hundreds of feet from her house, and on the opposite side of the street without sidewalks or a defined crosswalk, were not safe.

She demanded a change. In an email obtained by Kirschner, the district responded with a denial of her request. Jenna's mother made the same request of the district in 2022 relating to her son's transportation. Likewise, the district, in an email, denied that request. According to police reports, the driver, employed by District 210, was a substitute who had only recently obtained his school bus license and had never driven this route before.

Onboard video, which was obtained by Corboy & Demetrio, reveals that Jenna was off the bus and in plain sight in front of the bus within the roadway when the bus driver, without using his exterior mirrors or looking out the front windshield, proceeded forward, striking Jenna. The video also shows the driver driving the bus while looking down at a piece of paper in his right hand.

"Not only was Jenna's death entirely preventable, but it was also entirely foreseeable when an inexperienced and clearly inattentive substitute driver is put behind the wheel of a school bus filled with 5-, 6-, and 7-year-olds, to drive an unfamiliar route with a drop-off routine that the districts were aware was unsafe," Kirschner stated. "We discovered, that just hours before Jenna was killed, an internal email with the subject line 'Challenging afternoon' was written by District 210's Director of Transportation lamenting that they have had a lot of late call offs from drivers, and that a department staffing shortage 'makes a challenging day – worse,'" Kirschner said.

"This lawsuit was brought by the Menias family to get answers, to hold the districts accountable, and, most of all, to make sure that their worst nightmare never happens to another family," Kirschner explained.

ARTBOX, KOREA'S ICONIC LIFESTYLE RETAILER, MAKES U.S. DEBUT WITH LOS ANGELES POP-UP FEATURING GLOBAL K-POP ICON ILLIT
Image File
Original HTML

The Korean retailer, founded in 1984, will open its first U.S. retail activation on Melrose Avenue from October 3–11, marking the first step in ARTBOX's broader American expansion

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ARTBOX, Korea's original design-lifestyle retail brand, is officially coming to America. From October 3 through October 11, 2026, the beloved Korean retailer will take over 8250 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046 for its first directly operated U.S. retail activation, introducing American consumers to the products, original characters and sense of discovery that have made ARTBOX a retail destination across South Korea.

Kicking off the nine-day pop-up on October 3, ARTBOX will celebrate its U.S. arrival alongside the global K-pop group and ARTBOX ambassador ILLIT — YUNAH, MINJU, WONHEE, IROHA— bringing K-pop and Korean lifestyle together with ARTBOX's world of original characters and products on Melrose Avenue. The partnership brings together two Korean names with strong Gen Z audiences, introducing ARTBOX and its distinctly Korean approach to lifestyle retail to U.S. consumers.

The October 3 opening celebration will feature a special appearance by ARTBOX global ambassador ILLIT, who will join the opening remarks and photo call, meet with selected media, and experience the pop-up firsthand through a store tour and DIY decorating activity.

Following the opening celebration, consumers will be invited to step inside the ARTBOX universe through a series of immersive zones combining shopping, original character IP, K-culture and interactive experiences. The current pop-up design includes:

- Step Into the Fun Side: An immersive entrance welcoming guests into the ARTBOX world, anchored by oversized ARTBOX characters — including alien character Lazywag — and visual content.

- Meet the ARTBOX Gang: A dedicated character and IP experience showcasing ARTBOX's original characters alongside character merchandise, collectibles, stationery and accessories.

- Immerse in the K-Fever / Unbox the K-Wave: A K-culture experience featuring ILLIT, K-pop and interactive photo moments, connecting ARTBOX's Korean roots with the global cultural phenomenon surrounding Korean entertainment.

- DIY at the Cute Custom Corner: A hands-on customization experience inspired by Korea's decorating culture, with opportunities to personalize items such as journals, phones and accessories.

- Take Your Treats Home: A shoppable finale featuring ARTBOX products alongside an exciting Gacha experience.

More than a traditional shopping experience, the pop-up is designed as a roughly 40–45 minute journey through ARTBOX's world of original characters, interactive moments, constantly refreshed products and highly visual spaces.

FROM SEOUL TO LOS ANGELES

Founded in Seoul in 1984, ARTBOX began with a simple premise: everyday objects should never have to be ordinary. What started as a design-led stationery business has evolved over four decades into a major Korean lifestyle retail destination, spanning 222 stores across South Korea and more than 20,000 active SKUs.

Today, ARTBOX extends far beyond stationery, bringing together eight lifestyle categories encompassing character goods and K-culture, stationery and writing, home and living, beauty and wellness, fashion and travel, gifts and seasonal products, digital and mobile accessories, and food and snacks. At the center of the brand are its original character IPs, which extend across products, collectibles, retail experiences, collaborations, licensing and social storytelling. Together, this mix of design, curation, character and culture gives ARTBOX broad appeal across Gen Z and Millennials, families, tourists and K-culture audiences.

Now, ARTBOX is looking beyond Korea.

Los Angeles marks ARTBOX's first step into the U.S. market, with Southern California serving as the first phase of the retailer's broader expansion plans. The Melrose pop-up will introduce American consumers to ARTBOX's retail model, products and in-store experience firsthand.

The move comes as Korean culture continues to shape entertainment, beauty, fashion, food and lifestyle globally, creating an opportunity for ARTBOX to introduce another side of Korean culture to U.S. consumers.

"Los Angeles is a natural starting point for ARTBOX's U.S. journey, bringing together culture, creativity and diverse communities," said Kevin Cho, Head of Global Business at ARTBOX. "This pop-up marks an exciting first step as we introduce ARTBOX's unique take on Korean lifestyle retail to U.S. consumers."

The Los Angeles pop-up will also give ARTBOX an opportunity to introduce the brand directly to U.S. consumers as it explores a longer-term footprint in the market. The company is actively exploring long-term retail opportunities with landlords and development partners in the United States.

The ARTBOX Los Angeles Pop-Up will run October 3–11, 2026 at 8250 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046, with public hours from 4:30 PM–8:30 PM on October 3 and 11:00 AM–7:00 PM from October 4–11.

Coastal Financial Corporation (CCB) Scrutinized Over BaaS Credit Risk Management Effectiveness, Shares Tank 43% - Hagens Berman Investigation and Investor Advisory
Image File
Original HTML

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- National shareholder rights law firm Hagens Berman is looking into critical corporate governance, underwriting, and risk management failures at Coastal Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: CCB). Following a 43% single-day stock plunge triggered by a massive provision for credit losses and unexpected valuation adjustments within its core CCBX Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) segment, the firm has commenced an investigation into whether Coastal Financial was sufficiently transparent about risk management practices.

Hagens Berman urges CCB investors who suffered substantial financial losses to submit their trading information. Whistleblowers and insiders with non-public knowledge regarding Coastal Financial's loan underwriting, partner risk oversight, or internal controls are also invited to contact the firm.

Coastal Financial Corporation ($CCB) Investigation Overview: What Went Wrong?

The investigation focuses on whether Coastal Financial and certain executives issued materially false and misleading statements, or failed to disclose material adverse facts regarding the true credit quality, risk profile, and underwriting oversight of loans originated through its CCBX BaaS segment.

Coastal Financial enables digital financial service providers, brands, and fintech partners to offer banking services via its CCBX platform. Historically, the company maintained that robust internal safeguards protected its balance sheet. Specifically, public filings emphasized:

- Strict Partner Screening: Prior to launching any lending product, partner institutions were allegedly required to submit all policies, scorecards, and lending models to Coastal Financial for review and approval to ensure alignment with strict internal risk profiles.

- Ongoing Internal & External Oversight: Management repeatedly assured investors that the company performed rigorous internal credit risk management alongside independent third-party professional firms tasked with regular loan reviews and accurate asset classifications.

The Q2 2026 Disclosure and 43% Market Collapse

The effectiveness of Coastal's credit risk management and internal controls faced market skepticism on July 30, 2026, when the company reported its Q2 2026 financial results:

- Significant Financial Loss: Coastal posted a net loss of $42.1 million (or -$2.76 per diluted share), drastically missing consensus profit estimates.

- Rising Credit Expenses: The losses were driven overwhelmingly by $68.8 million in pre-tax charges tied to a single CCBX partner relationship and associated consumer loan portfolios, including a $46 million valuation adjustment to credit enhancement assets and a $22.8 million spike in credit loss provisions.

- CFO Departure: Compounding market instability, the company announced the impending departure of its Chief Financial Officer just ahead of the earnings release.

- Immediate Stock Decline: CCB shares crashed $30.75 per share, or 43.5%, in a single trading session, dropping from a close of $70.66 to close at $39.91 on heavy volume.

"We're focused on when Coastal first detected this single partner problem and whether it may have misled investors about the effectiveness of its initial underwriting and ongoing credit risk management," said Reed Kathrein, the Hagens Berman partner leading the firm's investigation.

Under the new program, whistleblowers who provide original information may receive rewards totaling up to 30 percent of any successful recovery made by the SEC.
