To be an indispensable partner to our customers, Informa TechTarget is delivering something fundamentally unique: an AI-driven, person-level intelligence solution built on the type of high-quality, granular data that our customers’ AI-optimized GTM systems need to be successful,” said Gary Nugent, Chief Executive Officer of Informa TechTarget. “Buyer Intelligence will deliver better outcomes, fueled by the type of directly observed behavioral data only we can provide.”

AI capabilities embedded in Informa TechTarget’s Buyer Intelligence support use cases including buying group identification, personalized sales messaging, ABM strategy, new customer identification, campaign amplification, and content planning. These AI skills include:

- Pain Points: AI-surfaced content engagement insights—derived from the articles, videos, webinars, and related content that buyers are actively consuming, reading, and watching—that highlight the specific challenges and business problems that buying group members are researching, and why. Pain Points suggests actions, enables personalized messaging with precision, and reduces prep time for sales calls.

- Pitch Assist: An always-on intelligence layer which surfaces AI-generated messaging guidance tailored to each account's specific business problems; bridging the gap between intent signals and actionable pitch angles.

- Persona and ICP Intelligence: Turns live buying signals into a ranked market map of which customer segments are actively in-market now, flagging opportunities to identify new personas and reasons to re-evaluate an Ideal Customer Profile, complete with messaging angles for each.

Based on directly observed signals from permissioned audience members, Buyer Intelligence identifies companies and buyers actively researching solutions and the specific challenges they're seeking to address, enhanced with contextual analysis and recommended messages and actions. The data is sourced exclusively from Informa TechTarget’s global audience of engaged B2B decision-makers—who seek trusted editorial and webinar content to help them make informed purchase decisions—which generates millions of intent and behavioral signals daily.

“Over 20+ years, Informa TechTarget has forged strong relationships with tens of millions of B2B buying group members who trust the expert guidance of our award-winning editorial content and BrightTALK webinar communities. That gives our customers access to signals that simply aren't available anywhere else, and now we're making those buyer insights even more powerful and actionable,” Mark Picone, Chief Product & Technology Officer of Informa TechTarget. “With the inclusion of purpose-built AI skills like Pain Points, Pitch Assist, and Persona and ICP Intelligence, our customers will be able to unlock even more value from the richest person-level buyer intelligence available in B2B."

In addition to access via Informa TechTarget’s Portal customer platform, Buyer Intelligence is also available via several marketing automation (MAP), customer relationship management (CRM), and account-based marketing (ABM) platforms, as well as AI-ready data clouds and modern data stack solutions.

A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow: The Ever-Changing Carousel of Progress
Image File
Original HTML

There’s a great big, beautiful tomorrow on the way for Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. For the last 60 years, this passion project of Walt himself has served as a powerful reflection of optimism, innovation, and family over time.

Yet while the themes have always stayed the same, the most performed stage show in the history of American theater has taken several forms over the years. So, before we talk about what’s next for this beloved attraction, let’s take a look back at its evolution.

Announced at D23: New Mom and Dad

Kicking off the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress (perfect name for a show!), host Neil Patrick Harris told the crowd at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that two new voice additions would be joining the show, stepping into the iconic roles of mom and dad. Disney Legend Jamie Lee Curtis and Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston pick up the mantle as the attraction is updated for a new generation of fans.

Neil also shared a look at one of the new scenes, set in the 1980s, showing us exactly where this iconic family is headed next.

The Evolution of Carousel of Progress

To understand the full history of Carousel of Progress, you have to go all the way back to the 1950s. As Walt Disney set his sights on expanding Disneyland, he envisioned an extension of Main Street, U.S.A. called Edison Square.

The square would be anchored by Harnessing the Lightning, a walkthrough drama exploring how electricity and technology transformed the lifestyle of the American family. While Edison Square was never built, the groundwork was laid for a show centered on a powerful idea: technology would continue to evolve, but people would stay the same.

When work began on the Disney shows for the 1964–1965 New York World’s Fair, Walt and his team of Imagineers reworked the Harnessing the Lightning concept into the smash hit of the Progressland pavilion — Carousel of Progress.

The fair marked the debut of the attraction’s iconic rotating theater system, as well as its equally iconic anthem by songwriters and Disney Legends Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman. It was an enormous success and a project deeply personal to Walt. It captured his overarching spirit of optimism while reflecting his hands-on creative direction, down to details as specific as how Uncle Orville’s toes should wiggle in the bathtub.

Following its run at the fair, Walt brought the show to Disneyland, where it opened in 1967 with several updates, including a refreshed finale scene (now set in Progress City, a community of tomorrow based on Walt’s vision for EPCOT). At the time, no one could have known that this finale would become a sign of things to come, as Carousel of Progress made its way to Walt Disney World in 1975.

In its time at Magic Kingdom, the attraction has continued to evolve, through new scripts, voice actors, time periods, and even full scene updates. The attraction even featured a new theme song, “The Best Time of Your Life,” which stood in for “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” for the attraction’s first two decades of operation in Florida. You can still hear the tune playing as background music throughout Tomorrowland today. The attraction’s last major update was back in 1994, which included an updated finale scene and the return of the original Sherman Brothers’ song.

Keeping Walt’s Vision Alive

As you can see, Carousel of Progress was designed to celebrate change, not to stand still. As Imagineers, we now have the great responsibility of keeping Walt’s ideas of innovation and forward-looking spirit alive as we continue building the attraction’s future together. So where are we heading?

You may remember that last year we announced that guests will soon be able to see Walt Disney himself in the attraction, made possible through the magic of Audio-Animatronics technology. Walt is in a scene inspired by the 1964 special “Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair,” which is where he first introduced the idea of Carousel of Progress and shared his enduring belief in the power of progress to shape a better tomorrow.

The team is having a lot of fun sourcing and replicating many of the props seen in that special, like the prototype Tiki bird, the Tower of the Four Winds model, a doll from “it’s a small world,” and so much more.

This once unimaginable opening moment will set the stage for the next era of storytelling for our American family and their lovable dog.

New Decades Coming to Carousel of Progress

In addition to adding Walt Disney to the very attraction that bears his name, Imagineers will also be updating all the scenes to new time periods, where we’ll get to see what John, Sarah, and the rest of the family are up to as they navigate ever-changing technology in new decades.

One of our main goals for this update was to keep the attraction relatable for today’s audiences by featuring eras in which our guests have personal connections. That includes the iconic “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” which will continue to play as guests transition between scenes.

The Imagineers working on this refresh grew up during these decades, so it’s been a real trip down memory lane to revisit the music, fashion, technology, and experiences that helped shape our history all reflected in this family’s story.

One thing that I think makes the Carousel of Progress so special is that physical props, painted backdrops, and practical effects everywhere. And the team is working tirelessly to make sure things like appliances and artwork are true to that decade.

Act 1 – the 1960s

When the show first opened at the World’s Fair, its story began by looking back about 60 years to the dawn of the new century. Now more than six decades later, this new iteration mirrors that idea, starting 60 years back from today in the 1960s.

In the summer of 1969, our Carousel family, along with millions around the world, gather around the television to witness one of humanity’s greatest achievements: the historic moon landing. Filled with awe, the moment captures the spirit of innovation and possibility that has always been — and always will be — at the heart of Carousel of Progress.

Act 2 – the 1980s

It’s the ‘80s, where everything bigger is better, and things keep on getting bigger! We pick up with the family on Halloween Night of 1985, and for the first time ever, Sarah is taking center stage. She’ll share how all the new appliances and gadgets are making life easier for the whole family.

Speaking of John, we’ll find him out on the porch handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, and poor Uncle Orville can be found in the bathroom with “no privacy around here!”

Act 3 – The New Millennium

With the ‘90s drawing to a close, our Carousel family is preparing to ring in the new millennium on New Year’s Eve 1999. Amid the excitement of the countdown to 2000, a new thing called the Internet is bringing John, Sarah, Jimmy and Patty – and the world – closer together than ever before.

And if you’re anything like my family, not everyone is making it to midnight. Grandpa has already nodded off before the big countdown, while Grandma sneaks the TV over to wrestling when no one’s looking.

Act 4 – The Possible Future

As we reach the end of our show, we see the family one last time in the distant future, in an out-of-this-world home. From a helpful robot assisting with everyday tasks to space travel, the scene imagines a future where extraordinary innovation has become part of life and proves that a beautiful tomorrow is just a dream away.

To help bring this new finale to life, Imagineers looked back at original concept sketches by Disney Legend John Hench, drawing inspiration from his imaginative vision of the future.

First Look at New Attraction Poster

I’m also excited to share a first look at our new attraction poster that pays homage to the original Carousel of Progress poster created for its Disneyland debut. Just like the attraction itself, the design reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re going.

When Will These Changes Happen?

Carousel of Progress is temporarily unavailable and this new take on this classic attraction will debut in late spring 2027.

I can’t wait to share more of the incredible work the team is doing in the coming months as we carry on Walt’s vision, introducing the show to an entirely new generation of fans while honoring its history and heart. I could not be more optimistic about the beautiful tomorrow on the way!

A New Season of The Imagineering Story Is Coming to Disney+
Image File
Original HTML

Tonight during Horizons: A Carousel of Progress at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, filmmaker Leslie Iwerks took the stage with Walt Disney Imagineering President and Chief Creative Officer Bruce Vaughn to share exciting news with Disney fans: a second season of The Imagineering Story is officially in production and the first few episodes will debut on Disney+ next year.

For nearly 75 years, Walt Disney Imagineers have been turning those ideas into experiences that connect with generations of guests around the world. During the presentation, Bruce reflected on that legacy, tracing Imagineering’s roots back to the creative team Walt Disney assembled to help bring Disneyland to life.

Today, that spirit of innovation continues through a global team who are constantly finding new ways to bring Disney stories to life.

Before looking ahead, Bruce paused to recognize some of the Disney Legends whose creativity helped shape the Disney experiences fans know and love today, including Tony Baxter, Wing Chao, Robert Coltrin, Bob Gurr, Joe Rohde, and Kim Irvine, who all joined him onstage. Their influence continues to inspire the next generation of Imagineers creating the future.

Leslie Iwerks Returns to Tell the Next Chapter

To help tell the ever-evolving Imagineering story, Bruce welcomed filmmaker Leslie Iwerks to the stage. As the creator of The Imagineering Story (and recently helmed Disneyland Handcrafted, along with Disney Worldbuilders, streaming August 20 on Disney+, she helped pull back the curtain on Walt Disney Imagineering, giving audiences a rare look at the creativity, challenges, and determination that go into building Disney Experiences.

Leslie’s grandfather, Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, helped shape the earliest days of Disney animation. Her father, Disney Legend Don Iwerks, spent decades pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation. Growing up surrounded by Imagineers left a lasting impression, as she told the crowd, “I was really raised by Imagineers.”

A Front-Row Seat to the Future

When the first season of The Imagineering Story debuted in 2019, it chronicled decades of Disney history. But this next season will capture something different — it will follow Imagineers as they help shape one of the most ambitious periods in Disney Experiences history.

According to Bruce, Leslie has been there as many of those projects have moved from blue sky concept to “dirt is moving!” reality.

“So a few years ago when it was revealed that dozens of new projects were on the way, you and I started talking about how there may be a new chapter in this tale,” Leslie told Bruce, “Turns out … there are several.”

“Leslie has been with us as we’ve put all these new projects in motion,” Bruce shared, adding that she has been granted unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the creative process. For fans, that means an opportunity to see not only what Imagineers are building, but how they think.

“My goal is to make you all feel like you’re right there with me on this journey,” Leslie explained. And we won’t have to wait long to see it. The Imagineering Story Season 2 debuts in 2028 on Disney+.

Kansas City Delivery Truck Accident Lawyers

Horn Law Motor Vehicle Accident Information Center • Kansas City, Missouri

Amazon vans, UPS and FedEx trucks, mail trucks and app delivery drivers are on every Kansas City street, every day, on a clock. When one of them hits you, the first question is who the driver was working for, because that decides which insurance pays and which rules apply. Horn Law is a Missouri motor vehicle injury firm, and we move fast to find out.

If an Amazon van, a UPS or FedEx truck, a USPS mail truck, a local company box truck or a DoorDash or Uber Eats driver hurt you in Kansas City, you need a lawyer who starts by answering one question: who was the driver working for at the moment of the crash? That answer decides whether you are dealing with a corporate fleet policy, a small contractor's policy, a gig company's delivery coverage, the driver's personal insurance, or the United States government, which has its own two-year claim process. Horn Law has focused on motor vehicle injury claims for over 30 years, and our published results include box truck, commercial vehicle and delivery driver cases. The consultation is free and there is no fee unless we recover money for you. Call (816) 795-7500.

Note: past case results are no guarantee of future results. Every case is different and must be judged on its own merits. See our published case results.

What Counts as a Delivery Truck Accident

A delivery truck accident is any crash with a vehicle that was carrying packages, food, freight or goods to homes and businesses when it happened. That covers a wider range of vehicles than most people realize, and the size of the vehicle changes which rules apply to it.

If the vehicle that hit you was a tractor-trailer or an 18-wheeler, the rules and the evidence are different enough that we cover them separately on our Kansas City truck accident lawyers page. If you were hit by an Uber or Lyft driver carrying passengers rather than food, see our rideshare accident page. If you are not sure which category your crash falls into, call. Sorting that out is part of the free consultation.

Why Delivery Truck Crashes Happen

Delivery driving is a job built on volume. Americans shipped 23.1 billion parcels in 2025, and Amazon Logistics alone delivered 6.9 billion of them, more than any other carrier (Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index, 2026 report). Every one of those packages ends with a vehicle stopping on a street where people live, walk and drive. The same patterns show up in crash after crash.

Route pressure

Routes are built by software around a number of stops per shift. A driver who falls behind speeds between stops, rolls through stop signs and cuts corners in neighborhoods to catch up.

Distraction built into the job

Delivery drivers work from handheld scanners, phone apps and navigation screens while the vehicle is moving. A glance at the next address is a glance away from the road.

Backing and blind spots

Vans and box trucks have large blind zones behind and beside them. Backing out of driveways and alleys is one of the most common ways a delivery vehicle hits a pedestrian, a child or a parked car.

Illegal stops and double parking

Stopping in a traffic lane, on a curve or at a hilltop forces other drivers to swerve into oncoming traffic, and the driver stepping out often never looks.

Thin training

Most delivery vans do not require a commercial driver's license. Some drivers are weeks into the job, driving a vehicle far larger than anything they have driven before.

Fatigue and maintenance

Long shifts in peak season, and fleet vehicles that rack up stop-and-go miles fast. Brakes, tires and mirrors wear out quickly under that kind of use.

What to Do After a Delivery Truck Accident in Kansas City

If you are reading this from a hospital bed or on behalf of someone who is, start at step two. Nothing here has to happen today.

- Call 911 and get the crash documented. Inside Kansas City limits, the Kansas City Police Department usually investigates. The Missouri State Highway Patrol handles many crashes on highways outside city limits. Which agency responded decides where you request the report.

- Get medical care the same day. Adrenaline hides injuries. Kansas City's adult Level I trauma centers are University Health Truman Medical Center, Research Medical Center and Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City, and Children's Mercy is the region's Level I pediatric trauma center. A gap between the crash and your first visit is the first thing an adjuster will point at.

- Photograph the vehicle's identity. The company name and logo, any USDOT number on the door, the license plate, the vehicle number painted on the side or back, and the driver's uniform or badge. An Amazon-branded van is usually operated by a separate company, and the name of that company is often printed in small letters near the door.

- Ask the driver who they work for. Write down the answer word for word. "I drive for Amazon," "I'm a contractor for FedEx," and "I was on a DoorDash order" lead to three very different insurance policies.

- If it was an app driver, note what was on their phone. Whether the app was open, and whether there was food or a package in the car, can decide whether a $1,000,000 policy applies or only a $25,000 one.

- Get witness names and numbers. Neighbors, doorbell camera owners and the business the driver was delivering to. Doorbell and business video is often overwritten within days.

- Do not give a recorded statement to the company's insurer. You are not required to. More on this below.

- If it was a mail truck, mark your calendar. A claim against the Postal Service has its own two-year deadline and its own form, and a claim filed the wrong way can be lost. See the USPS section below.

- Call a lawyer early. The camera footage and telematics data inside a modern delivery vehicle are kept on the company's schedule, not yours.

Who Pays: Liability Company by Company

Missouri law generally holds an employer responsible for the negligence of an employee driving within the scope of the job. This is called respondeat superior, and it is usually how you reach the larger policy. The problem in delivery cases is that many of the biggest names in delivery do not directly employ the people driving their vehicles. Here is how the major players are structured.

Amazon vans

Most blue Amazon Prime vans are operated by Delivery Service Partners, independent companies that contract with Amazon, lease the vans and hire the drivers. The driver works for the Delivery Service Partner, not Amazon, and that company's commercial policy is usually the first coverage in line. Whether Amazon itself can be held responsible depends on how much control it exercised over the driver's work: the routes, the stop counts, the in-van monitoring and the delivery pace. Courts around the country have reached different results on that question, and the answer turns on facts we have to prove, not on the logo on the van.

UPS trucks

UPS package car drivers are generally UPS employees. When a UPS driver causes a crash on a route, UPS is typically responsible for the driver's conduct, and the claim is usually handled through UPS's own claims process or its insurer. That also means you are dealing with one of the most experienced corporate claims operations in the country from the first phone call.

FedEx trucks

It depends on which FedEx. FedEx Express drivers are generally company employees. FedEx Ground residential and package deliveries are largely handled by independent contracted service providers who own or lease the trucks and employ the drivers. In a FedEx Ground case, the contractor and its insurer are usually the first target, and FedEx's own responsibility is a fact question.

USPS mail trucks

A Postal Service employee driving on the job is a federal employee. You do not sue the driver or the Postal Service in the ordinary way. The claim runs against the United States under the Federal Tort Claims Act, and it has to start with a written administrative claim. Some mail routes are driven by contract carriers rather than postal employees, and those claims can follow ordinary rules instead. Details are in the USPS section.

App delivery drivers

DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub and Amazon Flex drivers are generally classified as independent contractors driving their own cars. Coverage depends on the app status at the moment of impact. Details are in the app driver section.

Local fleets and businesses

A furniture store's box truck, a beverage distributor's truck, a restaurant's own delivery driver, a linen service van. When the driver is an employee, the business is generally responsible. Our $250,000 result for a client T-boned by a pizza delivery driver is this kind of case.

Other parties who may share responsibility

- A maintenance or repair shop that missed a brake, tire or lighting problem.

- A company that loaded the truck if an unsecured load shifted or fell.

- The vehicle owner, in limited cases. A federal law known as the Graves Amendment generally protects rental and leasing companies from liability based only on ownership (49 U.S.C. 30106). A leasing company can still be responsible for its own negligence, such as renting out a truck it knew was unsafe.

- A government entity where a city vehicle was involved or road design contributed. Missouri waives sovereign immunity for the negligent operation of motor vehicles by public employees, such as a city trash truck driver, but damages against a public entity are capped (RSMo 537.600, 537.610). If a defect in a Kansas City street, sidewalk or bridge contributed to the crash, written notice to the mayor is required within 90 days (RSMo 82.210).

Missouri also has a joint and several liability rule that matters when there are several defendants. A defendant found 51 percent or more at fault can be made to pay the whole judgment.

Over the last 25 years, Horn Law has been a leader handling work-related injury claims, including claims for state worker compensation benefits under both Missouri and Kansas law. Because worker compensation claims are complex, if you or someone you know has been hurt while on-the-job, the best option is to take advantage of a free legal consultation with Horn Law to determine how the claim can be resolved for maximum recovery. Legal consultation is important, not only because the worker compensation laws in Missouri and Kansas are complex, but also because you, as an injured worker, only have one chance to get your claim settled for full value.

Report Your Injury

It is important to note that you should immediately report any on-the-job injury to your supervisor, foreman, first aid person, or another person designated by your employer. When you provide immediate notice of your injury, your employer and their insurance company can make sure you are getting proper medical attention, and the claims are properly recorded and documented.

If you are unsure what to do after a work injury, please contact Lead Attorney Doug Horn at 816-795-7500. He can lead you through the proper steps to make sure you are fully protected under the law.

Close & Convenient

The Horn Law home office is in Independence, Missouri, near I-70 and I-470 (across the street from Costco).

In addition to our home office, consultation offices are located in both Lee’s Summit and Liberty in Missouri, as well as Overland Park, Kansas.

Do I Need An Attorney?

That depends. While a minor injury that requires limited medical treatments and leaves no permanent effect can likely be handled directly with the employer’s insurance representatives, any work injury that requires extended medical care, physical therapy, rehabilitation, or results in longer-term effects is likely a claim where legal representation is going to be of substantial benefit. At Horn Law, we offer free legal consultation in all types of injury claims to determine if our legal representation is going to be of substantial benefit to the injured person and their family. We can not take on a case unless we can make a substantial difference in the amount of compensation paid to the injured worker. Legal consultation with Lead Attorney Doug Horn is easy to arrange. Typically, the initial consultation occurs via phone. After the initial consultation, we can make a decision about the next steps of your case.

Worker Compensation Benefits

During the initial consultations, we can explain the three primary benefits that every injured worker is entitled to, no matter who is at fault for the injury.

1. Medical Treatment

Because your employer is responsible for your medical expenses that result from an injury sustained at work, the employer has the right to select the physician who will treat your injury. Generally, the employer will have their insurance company get involved as soon as possible. No matter what the circumstances, an injured worker is entitled to the proper medical treatment. Legal representation by an attorney who concentrates on worker compensation claims can be important when it comes to obtaining proper and qualified medical treatment.

2. Lost Wages

If you are missing work as a result of a work injury, the state laws provide a reimbursement of your lost wages. This benefit is known as “temporary total disability” or “TTD.” In Missouri, TTD benefits are calculated at two-thirds of the injured worker’s average weekly wage, not to exceed a maximum amount set by law.

Generally, an injured worker is not going to need legal representation to receive this TTD benefit. However, legal consultation can be beneficial to make sure the TTD is being calculated correctly under the law. Again, free legal consultation with us can ensure you are getting full benefits.

3. Permanent Partial Disability (“PPD”)

This is where legal representation can make a substantial benefit. PPD is compensation that is paid to an injured worker to account for the lasting effects of an injury. For instance, a worker may suffer a back injury where the soft tissues are strained and stretched, and the injured worker will receive rehabilitation therapy to help with the recovery.

Because the injured’s person back will never be the same, the worker is entitled to compensation for this “disability,” provided a doctor has rated him or her with a disability rating under specific medical guidelines. In these situations, the treating doctor, who is being paid by the employer’s insurance company, will typically rate an injury very conservatively, which will result in lower compensation paid to the injured worker.

However, if a worker compensation lawyer protects an injured worker, the lawyer will arrange for an independent rating to be performed by an independent doctor who is qualified to issue PPD ratings. In our experience of over 25 years of handling Missouri and Kansas worker compensation claims, the PPD rating coming from an independent doctor will be substantially higher. This translates to a much better settlement for the injured worker.

4. Permanent Total Disability

If an injured worker is catastrophically injured such that he or she is totally disabled from working again, the injured worker is entitled to lifetime benefits called Permanent Total Disability or “PTD.” These cases are complex and demand the best possible legal representation. For instance, our clients who have suffered a permanent total disability over 15 years ago are continuing to receive weekly checks since they are unable to work. Our law firm continues to work for these clients, making sure that they continue to receive weekly checks as part of lifetime settlement awards.

What to Do After a Motorcycle Accident in Kansas City

After a Kansas City motorcycle crash, get medical care, make sure a police report is filed, photograph the scene from the angle the other driver had, and do not let anyone repair, sell, or salvage your motorcycle until it has been documented. Keep your helmet and riding gear exactly as they are. Do not give the other driver's insurance company a recorded statement before you talk to a lawyer.

Most of this list is the same for any crash. Three items are specific to riders, and they are the ones people get wrong.

- Get medical attention, even if you can walk away. Adrenaline hides a lot, and head injuries and internal bleeding do not always show up at the scene. A gap between the crash and your first treatment is the first thing an adjuster points to.

- Make sure a crash report gets written. Kansas City reports are available 20 business days after the incident and can be bought online through BuyCrash for $9.00. If a state trooper worked the crash, the report comes from the Missouri State Highway Patrol for $6.00, about 10 days after the investigation. (KCPD; MSHP, retrieved August 2026)

- Do not repair, sell, or salvage the bike yet. This is the big one. Insurers move fast to total a motorcycle and haul it away, and once it is gone so is the physical evidence of impact angle, speed, and point of contact. Newer bikes carry ECU and ABS data that can matter. Tell the insurer in writing to preserve it.

- Keep your helmet and gear exactly as they are. Do not clean them and do not throw them out. A scuffed helmet, a torn jacket, and ground down boots are physical proof of what happened to your body.

- Photograph the sightlines, not just the damage. Stand where the other driver was sitting and shoot from there. When a driver says he never saw you, photos of what he could actually see do more work than any damage photo.

- Get names and numbers for witnesses. Drivers who watched a car turn across a rider's path remember it clearly, and they disappear if nobody writes down a phone number.

- Do not give a recorded statement. The other driver's insurer will call within a day or two and will sound helpful. You are not required to give them a recorded statement. Talk to a lawyer first.

Why Motorcycle Claims Get Treated Differently

Motorcycle injury claims are handled differently from car claims because insurers and juries often start from the assumption that the rider was doing something wrong. Riders face three recurring arguments: that the driver never saw the motorcycle, that the rider must have been speeding, and that riding is inherently reckless. None of those is a legal defense on its own, but each one is used to push settlement offers down.

"I never saw the motorcycle"

This is the most common thing a driver says after turning across a rider's path, and it is not a defense. A driver has a duty to look. Of the 3,419 fatal two vehicle crashes involving a motorcycle and another vehicle in 2023, 46 percent involved the other vehicle turning left while the motorcycle was going straight, passing, or overtaking. (NHTSA, Traffic Safety Facts: Motorcycles, 2023 data, DOT HS 813 732)

What decides these cases is proving what the driver could have seen: sightline photographs, parked cars and signage, time of day, and sometimes accident reconstruction. Riders are harder to see than cars, which is a reason for a driver to look more carefully, not an excuse for failing to.

The speed accusation nobody can back up

Adjusters routinely claim a rider was speeding with no evidence at all, sometimes from the other driver's guess and sometimes from nothing but the severity of the damage. Speed is established by physical evidence: skid and yaw marks, crush damage, throw distance, camera footage, and data pulled from the vehicles. An opinion is not evidence.

National data does show riders speed more often. Thirty-six percent of motorcycle riders in fatal crashes in 2023 were speeding, compared to 22 percent of passenger car drivers. (NHTSA, DOT HS 813 732) That describes a population. It says nothing about you, and an insurer cannot substitute it for proof about your crash.

The assumption that riding itself is reckless

Some adjusters and some jurors carry an attitude about motorcyclists before they hear a single fact, and it shows up in how these claims get handled from the first phone call. That is Horn Law's observation of these files, not a statistic. We did not find published research measuring adjuster or juror bias toward riders that we could stand behind.

[TESTIMONIAL: awaiting client input, see request above]

Missouri Helmet Law and What It Means for Your Claim

Missouri requires a helmet for every motorcycle operator and passenger under 26, and for anyone riding on an instruction permit. Riders 26 and older with a full license may ride without one, but only if they carry the insurance Missouri law requires and are also covered by health insurance for motorcycle injuries. This comes from section 302.026 RSMo, enacted by House Bill 1963 and effective August 28, 2020.

Missouri law does not say whether riding without a helmet can be used against you in a civil case. The statute is silent. It does not permit it and it does not forbid it. Insurance companies still raise it. Anyone who tells you Missouri law settles this question is wrong in both directions.

What the law actually requires today

Section 302.020.2 RSMo requires protective headgear for every person under 26 operating or riding as a passenger, and for anyone 26 or older riding on an instruction permit. The exemption in section 302.026 applies to a qualified operator 26 or older who, in the statute's words, maintains proof of financial responsibility and "is covered by a health insurance policy or other form of insurance which will provide the person with medical benefits for injuries incurred as a result of an accident while operating or riding on a motorcycle or motortricycle."

You show that coverage with your insurance card if an officer asks. The statute also says no person may be stopped, inspected, or detained solely to check compliance. A helmet violation is an infraction with a fine not to exceed twenty five dollars, and no points are assessed. (Sections 302.020 and 302.026 RSMo, retrieved from revisor.mo.gov on August 25, 2026)

Two gaps worth knowing. Section 302.026 speaks only about the "operator" and never uses the word passenger, so whether the exemption reaches a passenger 26 or older is not spelled out. And people often confuse this with Missouri's seat belt rule, section 307.178 RSMo, which does allow seat belt non-use to mitigate damages and caps the reduction at one percent. That statute defines "passenger car" to exclude motorcycles. The one percent cap does not protect a rider.

If you were not wearing a helmet

You may still have a claim. Missouri uses pure comparative fault, so being assigned some share of responsibility reduces what you recover rather than barring it. What an insurer may argue about your helmet, and whether a court would allow it, is not settled by statute, and the answer can depend on your injuries. A rider with a broken leg and no head injury is in a different position from a rider with a brain injury.

Helmets do reduce harm. NHTSA estimates they are 37 percent effective in preventing fatalities to riders and 41 percent for passengers. (NHTSA, DOT HS 813 466) That is a safety fact, not a legal rule about your case.

What the Insurance Company Is Doing While You Recover

While you are healing, the other driver's insurer is building a file. The adjuster calls early and sounds friendly because early statements are useful to them and because an offer accepted before you know the extent of your injuries costs them less.

- The early call. Often within 48 hours, before you have seen a specialist or know whether you need surgery. Friendly is a technique, not a favor.

- The recorded statement. How fast were you going, did you see the car, how do you feel today. "I'm doing okay" said on day three follows you for two years.

- The medical authorization. A broad release that lets them pull years of unrelated records looking for a prior injury to blame.

- The quick offer. This is the motorcycle version of the problem. An offer that looks big next to a fender bender can be small next to a fractured femur, a skin graft, and six months off work. Per vehicle miles traveled in 2024, motorcyclists were almost 5 times more likely to be injured than passenger car occupants. (NHTSA, 2024 data)

- The delay. Slow responses and repeat requests, because bills pile up and pressure works.

Motorcycle Crash Cases We Handle in Kansas City

- Left turn and intersection collisions. The classic case. A driver turns left across a rider going straight. In 2023, 37 percent of motorcyclist fatalities happened at intersections. (NHTSA, DOT HS 813 732)

- Unsafe lane changes and blind spot crashes. A driver merges into a lane a rider already occupies, treating a motorcycle as empty space.

- Rear-end impacts. Being struck from behind at a light is far more dangerous on a bike, with no crumple zone and nothing holding you in place.

How government works

How government works

In the UK, the Prime Minister leads the government with the support of the Cabinet and ministers. You can find out who runs government and how government is run, as well as learning about the history of government.

Who runs government

The Prime Minister

The Prime Minister is the leader of His Majesty’s Government and is ultimately responsible for all policy and decisions.

The Prime Minister also:

- oversees the operation of the Civil Service and government agencies

- appoints members of the government

- is the principal government figure in the House of Commons

The Prime Minister is The Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP.

Read more about the Prime Minister's Office, 10 Downing Street

The Cabinet

The Cabinet is made up of the senior members of government. Every week during Parliament, members of the Cabinet (Secretaries of State from all departments and some other ministers) meet to discuss the most important issues for the government.

Ministers

Ministers are chosen by the Prime Minister from the members of the House of Commons and House of Lords. They are responsible for the actions, successes and failures of their departments.

How government is run

Government departments and agencies

Departments and their agencies are responsible for putting government policy into practice.

Government departments

Some departments, like the Ministry of Defence, cover the whole UK. Others don’t – the Department for Work and Pensions doesn't cover Northern Ireland. This is because some aspects of government are devolved to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Non-ministerial departments are headed by senior civil servants and not ministers. They usually have a regulatory or inspection function like the Charity Commission.

Executive agencies

These are part of government departments and usually provide government services rather than decide policy - which is done by the department that oversees the agency.

An example is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (overseen by the Department for Transport).

Other public bodies

These have varying degrees of independence but are directly accountable to ministers. There are 4 types of non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs).

Executive NDPBs do work for the government in specific areas - for example, the Environment Agency.

Advisory NDPBs provide independent, expert advice to ministers - for example, the Committee on Standards in Public Life.

Tribunal NDPBs are part of the justice system and have jurisdiction over a specific area of law - for example, the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Independent monitoring boards are responsible for the running of prisons and treatment of prisoners - for example, His Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons.

Civil Service

The Civil Service does the practical and administrative work of government. It is co-ordinated and managed by the Prime Minister, in their role as Minister for the Civil Service.

Around half of all civil servants provide services direct to the public, including:

- paying benefits and pensions

- running employment services

- staffing prisons

- issuing driving licences

The Civil Service is on GOV.UK.

Legislation

Laws go through several stages before they are passed by Parliament. The House of Commons and the House of Lords work together to make them.

They can include:

Draft legislation

White papers outline proposals for new laws. Green papers ask for public comments before the white paper is published.

Bills are proposals for new laws or changes to existing ones. Once agreed by Parliament, they have to be approved by the King before becoming law.

Acts of Parliament

These are bills which have been approved by the Commons, the Lords, and the King. The relevant government department is responsible for putting the act into practice.

Access to information

Freedom of information

The Freedom of Information Act gives you the right to ask any public sector organisation for all the recorded information it has on any subject. Anyone can make a request for information – known as a Freedom of Information (or FOI) request. There are no restrictions on your age, nationality or where you live.

Statistics

Government produces Official Statistics about most areas of public life. Statistics are used by people inside and outside government to make informed decisions and to measure the success of government policies and services. Find out about the legislation that governs the publication of UK national and Official Statistics.

Transparency

The government publishes information about how government works to allow you to make politicians, public services and public organisations more accountable. We are committed to publishing information about:

- how much public money has been spent on what

- the job titles of senior civil servants and how much they are paid

- how the government is doing against its objectives

Data

Putting data in people’s hands can help them have more of a say in the reform of public services. On data.gov.uk you can easily find, review and use information about our country and communities - for example, to develop web applications.

Devolved government

In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, devolved governments are responsible for many domestic policy issues, and their Parliaments/Assemblies have law-making powers for those areas.

Areas the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, and the Northern Ireland Executive are responsible for, include:

- health

- education

- culture

- the environment

- transport

Local government

Councils make and carry out decisions on local services. Many parts of England have 2 tiers of local government: county councils and district, borough or city councils.

In some parts of the country, there’s just one tier of local government providing all the functions, known as a ‘unitary authority’. This can be a city, borough or county council – or it may just be called ‘council’. As well as these, many areas also have parish or town councils.

Parliament

Parliament is separate from government. Made up of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, its role is to:

- look at what the government is doing

- debate issues and pass new laws

- set taxes
