Apple announces new American Manufacturing Program partners for iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro

From U.S. titanium to advanced camera technology, American suppliers are producing key components in the latest iPhone lineup

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple today announced new and expanded partnerships with American companies that are supplying critical materials and components for iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro.

Through its American Manufacturing Program (AMP), Apple is partnering with Perryman Company, a Pennsylvania-based titanium producer, to supply titanium for Apple products, including iPhone Duo. Apple is also expanding its partnership with Qnity Electronics, headquartered in Delaware, to produce technology for the new variable aperture in the iPhone 18 Pro camera system — the most advanced Apple has ever made.

Apple works with suppliers in all 50 states and supports more than 450,000 American jobs. Last year, the company deepened that commitment by launching AMP, aimed at bringing even more advanced manufacturing and critical component production to the United States as part of Apple’s $600 billion, four-year commitment to U.S. manufacturing and innovation.

“We’re thrilled to expand our work with companies producing advanced materials and components for our newest iPhone lineup right here in America,” said Sabih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer. “American ingenuity is vital to all our products, from the titanium crafted for iPhone Duo to breakthrough camera innovations in iPhone 18 Pro. We’re proud to work with Perryman and Qnity Electronics to continue expanding our American Manufacturing Program and support U.S. jobs.”

The grade 5 titanium enclosure on iPhone Duo is exceptionally strong, providing amazing durability to the first foldable iPhone. Apple will commit up to $100 million over the next three years with Perryman, a family-owned business and a global leader in manufacturing specialty titanium products. At its site in Houston, Pennsylvania, Perryman melts, forges, and rolls titanium with a minimum of 80 percent recycled content for iPhone Duo.

Apple is also expanding its partnership with Qnity Electronics to build key camera technology for iPhone 18 Pro in the U.S. Qnity, which joined the American Manufacturing Program in March, will produce advanced films essential to the new variable aperture camera system on iPhone 18 Pro. Variable aperture is at the heart of the new 48MP Fusion Main camera, which enables incredible light and depth control. It’s powered by on-device intelligence that automatically lets in more light for darker settings and helps get sharper detail in brighter ones.

Nearly 100 components in iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro — from wireless chips to the silicon that powers key functions across the devices — are produced by American companies and drawn from suppliers in more than a dozen states. That footprint continues to grow, empowering partners across the country to bring new capabilities online:

- Broadcom is expanding and modernizing its Fort Collins, Colorado, facility under a $1.5 billion capital investment announced in July, producing advanced radio frequency components for a wide range of Apple products. The multiyear agreement will produce more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips.

- Corning, an Apple partner since the original iPhone in 2007, produces specialty glass for Apple in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, including Ceramic Shield. By the end of 2026, all of the cover glass for iPhone — including iPhone Duo — and Apple Watch sold worldwide will be produced at this facility.

- Coherent continues building on its multiyear agreement with Apple, supplying new vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser technology from its Sherman, Texas, facility. This technology enables Face ID and other key features across iPhone and iPad, including the redesigned, even more useful Dynamic Island on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

- TSMC’s Arizona fab continues to scale its production of advanced chips used across a range of Apple products, including iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch — producing more than 100 million chips for Apple in 2026. Construction on the north campus is progressing as Apple’s partnership with TSMC in Arizona grows.

- Amkor Technology broke ground on its first high-volume packaging and test facility in Peoria, Arizona, in September 2025, and began shell construction earlier this year. Phases 1 and 2 of the project are expected to support a workforce of more than 3,500 local hires. Apple will be one of the facility’s first customers, marking another step toward expanding the scope of U.S. advanced manufacturing.

As part of Apple’s ambitious goal to be carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030, all direct suppliers are required to power their Apple manufacturing with renewable energy by the end of this decade. These partnerships, which also include the increased use of recycled materials, reflect that broader environmental commitment.

Apple’s commitment to American manufacturing extends to the workers and businesses building the sector’s future. In August, Apple opened its Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Houston, Texas — the company’s second U.S. manufacturing learning site. Inside the 20,000-square-foot center, Apple engineers train small- and medium-sized businesses on the same processes used to make Apple products, from advanced manufacturing principles for final assembly to design considerations for printed circuit board assembly. The AMC sits within the same Houston facility that builds Apple’s advanced AI servers and will begin manufacturing Mac mini this year.

Apple unveils the 2026 Designers of Tomorrow

Curated by Rodman Primack, the exhibition celebrates next-generation designers and how they integrated Apple products into their creative processes

Apple’s Designers of Tomorrow showcase, in collaboration with Design Miami, returns for a second year to spotlight the best in emerging talent, this time focusing on the theme of presence. Exploring what still holds the public’s attention amid the hurried pace of the modern world, designers Salem S. Charabi, Isabel Rower, Yoonjeong Lee, and Parafernalia (Genki Matsumura and Sebastián Zorrilla) crafted original works that invite reflection and aim to shift perspectives, engage the senses, and kindle curiosity.

“The theme was born from an honest recognition of just how busy our lives have become,” says Rodman Primack, the program’s curator and former longtime creative director of Design Miami. “In answering it, our designers demonstrate the power of objects to shape our physical environments and transform the human experiences that are possible within them.”

This year’s participants were handpicked by a jury of global design voices — including Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, Fabien Cappello, Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher, Minjae Kim, Hun Chung Lee, Marion Mailaender, Nifemi Marcus-Bello, Jennifer Roberts, and Apple’s Molly Anderson — for their storytelling, material innovation, and craft. Their work also highlights Apple’s dynamic role in the creative process, empowering designers at every level to capture, refine, and share their ideas with the world.

“Apple products continue to emerge as a through line so many extraordinary designers share, spanning disciplines, cultures, and processes,” explains Primack. “It’s a testament to how seamlessly these products and tools can integrate into any workflow.”

Ahead of the exhibition, which opens today at Hôtel de Maisons in Paris, the featured designers discussed their final pieces and the tools they used to bring them to life.

Salem S. Charabi

Egyptian Danish architect Salem S. Charabi blends old-world practices and the latest digital tools to create timeless pieces, and his Designers of Tomorrow project, The Eminence of Light, is no exception.

“Light is something we’re all instinctively drawn to, dating back to our earliest fires,” Charabi notes. “A lantern felt like the perfect encapsulation of this idea — a reflection of our capacity to light up the world.”

Charabi constructed the lantern’s veil from banana paper, applying Japanese methods to Egyptian palms. A delicate skeleton of meticulously stacked date palm fronds provides a satisfying contrast to the limestone base, which carries the traces of its own formation in its grooves. “Each strand is an octagon in profile — just 3 millimeters wide, split by hand, and carefully drilled,” Charabi explains. “The ends are then sharpened with a chisel to interlock.” Both the lamp and the audience’s attention are suspended by the same tension.

The resulting piece feels at once deeply natural and finely engineered. “For this project, every component had to be mapped out in detail,” Charabi says. “I sketched and did all the 3D modeling on my MacBook Pro. It was a complex process getting everything to fit just right — from the carving of the stone and the paper molds, down to the delicate base.”

Isabel Rower

By blending familiar forms with the unexpected, Brooklyn-based designer Isabel Rower cultivates presence and transforms everyday objects into active sensory experiences.

“The surface functions as a site for curiosity for me,” explains Rower. “People don’t always know what my pieces are made of, even as they’re touching them. It’s captivating when something that isn’t readily understood takes the form of a familiar object, like a table or teapot. It generates a kind of friction that brings you into immediate awareness of the objects we use every day.”

This intrigue is captured by her piece Padded Chair 1860, whose dramatic proportions draw on 18th- and 19th-century papier-mâché furniture and objets d’art. Its high-gloss finish stands in sharp contrast to the beaded fringe lining the seat. “The ceramic beads make a sound when brushed, drawing attention to both the material and its form, turning the unconscious act of sitting down into a mindful encounter,” Rower says.

Apple is a fixture throughout her creative process. “I use iPhone to capture quick thoughts and document my process, AirPods Pro to listen to music, and MacBook Pro to build my personal visual archive,” says Rower. “I’ll also use Keynote to juxtapose ideas and explore the relationship between images and text.”

Yoonjeong Lee

For Seoul-based designer Yoonjeong Lee, presence begins with quiet discovery. Through material transformation, she repositions overlooked background objects as central subjects.

Her piece New Form showcases a trio of worn-down pencils that have been given new life as nails. “I wanted to express this year’s theme through something small that we could all recognize — a shared experience,” Lee explains. “This story doesn’t carry some grand narrative. Instead, it takes a second look at the familiar to help you rediscover that which has been quietly forgotten.”

The base of the piece doubles as a wooden table and lamp. Sheets of paper serve as a lampshade, softly diffusing the light below, while the pencils hold them firmly in place. Applying her signature technique of building volume through repetition, Lee stacked roughly 5,000 thin sheets of veneer to construct the wooden base.

Lee’s focus on overlooked structural elements extends to her workflow, where she credits iCloud, AirDrop, and Notes for keeping her process seamless. “I often use iPad Pro and Apple Pencil to create a sketch and jot down quick thoughts, but it’s how my devices connect to each other that makes them, and all their flexible features, truly useful,” she explains.

Parafernalia

Founded by Genki Matsumura and Sebastián Zorrilla, Parafernalia is a design studio that spans from Monterrey to Mexico City. The duo’s creative process is driven by constant dialogue, questioning, and iteration, often powered by FaceTime.

“For us, presence can take many forms,” says Matsumura. “We experience it with ourselves, with our surroundings, and with others. Our piece explores how all these expressions can coexist within a single object.”

Their piece MonoAmbiente 1 considers presence as both a personal relationship with one’s surroundings and a collective act. When closed, its acid-etched stainless steel surface forms a vast landscape. Its dual state invites the observer not only to examine it but to experience it. Once expanded, it reveals stools and a table, turning a distant scene into an intimate setting where two people can converse, play chess, or share a drink.

The project mirrors the studio’s workflow: two designers relying on iPhone and iPad Pro to trade sketches and track progress in real time. “We don’t share a physical desk. Our studio is iCloud,” Matsumura explains. By using Messages, FaceTime, and Procreate, they bridge the geographic gap. “Apple plays an integral part in how we think, design, and communicate. In many ways, it’s how we cultivate presence with each other.”

Business Jet Services Gains FAA Acceptance of SMS

DALLAS, TX – Business Jet Services (BJS) is excited to announce that they have officially received acceptance of their Safety Management System by the Federal Aviation Administration. BJS offers turn-key aircraft management and charter services based in the heart of Dallas at Love Field, and is one of only twenty operators nation-wide to achieve this recognition. The acceptance letter was inked on August 9, 2019 and solidifies nearly a decade of hard work on their SMS leading up to this occasion.

With 14 managed aircraft, 8 of which are on its Part 135 Charter certificate, BJS continues to experience significant demand for aircraft charter and management services. With the recent opening of hangar space at sister company, Business Jet Center, they are also now in a position to accommodate an increased number of clients looking to bring their aircraft to KDAL. “Having a robust safety system in place that is so instilled in the everyday functions of our employees is imperative to our success as we continue to grow,” says Britt Ham, Managing Director of Business Jet Services.

Director of Operations, James Cox says “It is a huge accomplishment, especially for a company of our size, and we are thrilled to be among a very small number of operators in the country that can say they have gone to these lengths to solidify their SMS.” BJS currently has 52 employees, 50% of which are pilots, and continuously engages the employee group through Safety Committee meetings, monthly surveys and company-wide newsletters. “With all of the unexpected things that can happen on a daily basis, it takes a consistent effort and dedicated team to keep SMS at the forefront,” Cox says. “We have worked tirelessly at doing just that, and we are happy the FAA has taken notice.”

Business Jet Completes Gulfstream GIV Starlink Installation

Business Jet is one of the first to install Starlink on a Gulfstream GIV at Dallas facility, with installation on the Embraer Legacy 600 STC Certification Aircraft to follow.

Dallas, TX (November 26, 2024) — Business Jet recently completed two of the first Starlink installations on the Gulfstream GIV, as the STC was awarded in late August. This milestone will be followed by the Legacy 600 certification aircraft installation set to occur in December.

“The addition of the GIV to the lineup of approved aircraft has been met with enthusiasm from its owners and operators. We are proud to deliver tailored solutions to our clients, and this milestone supports this commitment,” said Lina Sabbah, Director of Aircraft Solutions and Acquisitions. “We look forward to expanding our portfolio of completed aircraft models as STCs continue to be approved.” As the demand for connectivity grows, whether it’s for business or leisure, Starlink’s cutting-edge technology offers travelers a reliable solution from takeoff to touchdown, ensuring uninterrupted productivity and entertainment.

During the GIV’s most recent flight, download speeds reached up to 295 Mbps, allowing passengers to simultaneously stream three different movies without experiencing any lagging. The feedback received from crew and passengers has been nothing short of complimentary. The consistent sentiment gathered from Starlink users can be summed up in two words: “Game Changer.” This offering reflects Business Jet’s commitment to providing leading-edge solutions with the purpose of enhancing customer’s aviation experience.

Business Jet’s team of highly skilled technicians have experience installing Starlink on various aircraft models and recommend scheduling an installation during an annual inspection or another major maintenance event as more STCs become available. STCs are currently available for Gulfstream models GIV/GV/G450/G550/G650/G650ER and Bombardier Global models 5000/6000/6500/7500/Express/XRS. By the end of the year, STCs are expected for the Bombardier Global model 5500, with various models, such as the Challenger 300/350 following in early 2025. Business Jet is poised to accommodate any jet that’s ready to upgrade their inflight connectivity.
