RepRisk's fifth annual Greenwashing Report finds that financial institutions remain at the center of greenwashing risk. In 2026, Financial Services recorded a 40% year-on-year rise in the number of companies linked to greenwashing, while Banks recorded a 23% increase.

- Transition-linked sectors overtake Oil and Gas: Alternative Energy, Industrial Metals, Mining, Software and Computer Services, and Utilities together accounted for 29% of greenwashing-related environmental issue linkages in 2026, up from 18% in 2022, while the share associated with Oil and Gas fell from 17% to 12%.

- Financial institutions remain at the center of greenwashing risk: Financial Services and Banks together represented one-fifth of all sector linkages among greenwashing-linked companies in 2026, with Financial Services recording a 40% and Banks a 23% year-on-year increase.

- Biodiversity surpasses climate for the first time: In 2026, greenwashing risk concerning ecosystems and biodiversity overtook climate change and emissions for the first time in five years.

ZURICH, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- New research from RepRisk, the world's most respected Data as a Service company for business conduct risks, shows that greenwashing risk is rising again and shifting toward the companies, technologies, projects, and financial institutions at the center of the energy transition.

RepRisk's fifth annual Greenwashing Report found that the number of companies linked to greenwashing rose for a second consecutive year, reaching 1,594 in the year to June 2026, a 28% year-on-year increase. This follows a 12% decline in 2024. Over the five-year period, greenwashing risk incidents increased by 112%.

This renewed rise is accompanied by a shift from traditional high-emitting industries toward transition-linked sectors. Between 2022 and 2026, the combined share associated with Alternative Energy, Industrial Metals, Mining, Software and Computer Services, and Utilities increased from 18% to 29%, while the share associated with Oil and Gas fell from 17% to 12%.

The transition to a low-carbon economy is creating a new greenwashing risk landscape. As capital flows toward renewable energy, transition minerals, low-carbon infrastructure, and other climate solutions, scrutiny is increasingly extending beyond traditional high-emitting sectors to the activities intended to support the transition itself.

"The transition depends on informed capital allocation," said Philipp Aeby, CEO and Co-founder of RepRisk. "As investments continue to accelerate, banks, asset managers, and asset owners must be able to cut through greenwashing. High-quality data that is relevant, accurate, and auditable enables financial institutions to identify emerging risks and ensure that capital supports credible transition efforts and long-term value creation."

Financial institutions sit at the center of this changing landscape. In 2026, Financial Services and Banks together accounted for one-fifth of all sector linkages among companies linked to greenwashing. Financial Services ranked as the most exposed sector, with 305 companies, up 40% year on year, while 86 Banks were linked to greenwashing, an increase of 23%. For financial institutions, greenwashing risk can arise both from their own activities and from the companies and projects they finance, invest in, or underwrite.

The environmental issues linked to greenwashing risk are also shifting. Between 2024 and 2026, greenwashing linkages concerning ecosystems and biodiversity nearly doubled from 162 to 300, while those concerning climate change and emissions remained broadly flat, edging up from 272 to 275. In 2026, biodiversity overtook climate as the leading environmental issue linked to greenwashing risk for the first time in five years.

Notes to Editors

- The 2026 report examines five annual periods, each running from July 1 to June 30. "2026" refers to the period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

- A linkage represents a connection between one company and one Business Conduct Issue. As a company may be linked to multiple Issues, the number of linkages exceeds the number of companies.

- RepRisk defines greenwashing as environment-related statements, communications, or actions that do not clearly and fairly reflect the environmental performance of an entity, product, or service. Such communication may involve omitted, false, or deceptive information and may occur intentionally or unintentionally.

- RepRisk captures greenwashing through its dedicated Greenwashing Topic Tag. The tag was introduced in 2025 and enables more granular analysis than the methodology used for editions published before 2025. Comparisons spanning the methodological change should therefore be interpreted with this distinction in mind.

- Transition-linked sectors provide the infrastructure and materials on which the transition to a low-carbon economy depends. The grouping comprises Alternative Energy, Industrial Metals, Mining, Software and Computer Services, and Utilities. Software and Computer Services includes AI companies and data centers whose growing energy demands are reshaping electricity grids and whose claims regarding renewable energy use and carbon-free operations have come under increasing scrutiny.

- RepRisk's absolute incident counts reflect both reported developments and the continued expansion of its screening scope, including additional sources, languages, and companies. The report therefore also examines relative shares and distributions to provide a complementary view of how greenwashing risk is evolving.

Turnitin Now Offers AI Writing Detection for Dutch, German, and Turkish Language Submissions

Broadening global support for educators committed to academic integrity and original thinking

OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Turnitin today announced the expansion of its AI writing detection capabilities to support Dutch, German, and Turkish language submissions. The latest addition reflects Turnitin's ongoing commitment to equip educators worldwide with the tools they need to support original thinking and promote academic integrity across an even wider range of learning environments.

As AI adoption among students continues to increase, educators require solutions built on transparency, rather than surveillance. Turnitin's solutions go beyond verifying authorship. They support the broader learning journey and help equip students with the skills demanded by today's employers.

"Every language we add opens the door for more educators to guide the responsible use of AI in their classrooms and lecture halls," said James Thorley, Vice President of EMEA and APAC at Turnitin. "By extending detection capabilities to German, Turkish, and Dutch, we are giving more educators insight into where AI may have been used, so they can have meaningful, informed conversations with their students. We know there is no substitute for knowing a student's writing style and understanding institutional AI policies, but these insights help educators focus on what matters most: supporting original thought and critical thinking, rather than allowing AI to replace it."

The expansion builds on Turnitin's growing multilingual AI detection capabilities, which already include English, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic. It underscores the company's continued commitment to serving diverse educational communities, and its belief that academic integrity should be supported in every classroom or lecture hall, regardless of language.

AI writing detection for Dutch, German, and Turkish is now available through Turnitin Originality and as an add-on for iThenticate 2.0 customers. Like the English, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic versions, the feature provides educators with an overall percentage of likely AI-generated content, alongside:

- Intuitive, actionable reporting designed with educators in mind, making it easy to review submission insights and start constructive conversations with students about academic integrity,

- Seamless integration into existing educator workflows and learning management systems, fitting directly into daily grading routines without disruption, and

- Detection capabilities for the leading large language models, giving educators data points to assess student work in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.

YR Fitness Reaches Global Milestone: 34,950 Commercial Gyms Served Across 110+ Countries

YR Fitness Reaches Global Milestone: 34,950 Commercial Gyms Served Across 110+ Countries

SHANGHAI, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- YR Fitness, a commercial fitness equipment manufacturer experienced in serving commercial gyms and multi-location operators, has reached a cumulative milestone of 34,950 commercial gyms served across more than 110 countries since 1997.

For YR, the number reflects nearly three decades of experience in commercial environments, where equipment must perform consistently across repeat orders, different locations and years of daily use.

"Serving one gym and serving a growing fitness chain are very different challenges," said George Yang, founder of YR Fitness. "As operators expand, they still expect the same equipment quality, performance and support. That consistency is what matters."

Different Fitness Models, One Commercial Standard

YR has supplied equipment to multi-location fitness operators across different markets and business models.

In China, Lefit has grown to more than 2,300 locations across 60 cities, built around 24-hour access, monthly memberships and digital operations.

In Japan, chocoZAP operates more than 2,000 locations with a convenience-fitness model designed to make exercise easy to fit into everyday life.

In Sri Lanka, Power World Fitness Centres has operated for more than 30 years and today runs more than 20 locations, making it one of the country's established fitness networks.

In Australia, Peak Fitness operates three 24/7 Gym & Recovery Centres in Melbourne, combining commercial training facilities with dedicated recovery and specialized training spaces.

Their formats differ, but the underlying requirement is similar: dependable equipment and supply standards as the network grows.

Consistency at Scale

YR focuses on repeatable commercial standards across production and long-term supply. Its strength equipment is developed and manufactured in-house, supported by quality-control processes designed for commercial use.

Commercial quality is not about getting one machine right. It is about getting the same standard right again and again.

That defines YR's role today: a commercial fitness equipment manufacturer built for real gym operations at scale.

About YR Fitness

Founded in 1997, YR Fitness provides one-stop commercial gym equipment solutions, supplying strength equipment, cardio and accessories for professional fitness projects worldwide. YR is particularly specialized in original strength-equipment design, supported by in-house R&D and manufacturing.

Latitude Air Ambulance Remembers the Crew of Heartbeat 104 Medevac

HAMILTON, ON, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Following the release today by the United States Coast Guard of the names of the four Latitude Air Ambulance crew members aboard Heartbeat 104 Medevac, Latitude would like to share more about the colleagues and friends who were aboard the flight.

Heartbeat 104 was operating a medical evacuation flight from Bermuda to Boston, Massachusetts, carrying four members of the Latitude team, a patient, and a family escort. The Bermuda Police Service released the names of the patient and family escort and the U.S. Coast Guard publicly released all six names of those aboard today.

With the suspension of the search and rescue operation, Latitude has acknowledged the heartbreaking reality that all six people aboard are presumed to have died.

"This is the part of this tragedy that is hardest to put into words," said Peter Byl, President of Latitude Air Ambulance. "The Coast Guard release gives the public the six names of those aboard, including our four crew members and the patient and family escort. To all of us at Latitude, our crew were much more than names. They were colleagues, friends and members of our family. Each brought something special to our company, to the people they worked beside, and to the patients and families entrusted to their care."

Philip Childerhose – Captain

Phil was a person of great integrity, incredibly kind-hearted and extremely passionate about aviation. He was dedicated to his family, friends, and colleagues. He touched the hearts of everyone he talked to and helped anyone who was in need.

Thomas Farquhar – First Officer

Tommy was loved by everyone who ever met him. He was a gentle giant who reflected Jesus' love: a safe place and a helping hand to all.

Sarah Paton – Flight Nurse

Sarah was a bright, joyful presence whose kindness, humour and generosity touched everyone around her. A dedicated nurse, she devoted her life to caring for others and was known by her family as selfless, hardworking, determined and full of life. She was a larger-than-life daughter, family member and friend, and her loved ones take some comfort in knowing she was doing what mattered most to her: helping others. Sarah will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love and joy she brought to those around her.

Jolene Weir – Respiratory Therapist

Jolene was a presence unlike any other who loved her family and friends and had a passion for helping others. With years of experience caring for others as a respiratory therapist in a hospital, combined with her love of travel and seeing the world, Latitude truly was her dream job. Her incredible ability to care for and love others extended not only to her patients but showed even more in her most favourite roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

"Our colleagues dedicated themselves to helping people at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives," Byl said. "That was the mission they were carrying out aboard Heartbeat 104. We want their families to know that we will remember not simply how we lost them, but how they lived, how they served, and what they meant to the people around them."

The company also extends its respect and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the patient and family escort.

Latitude continues to provide support to the families of its crew members and to its employees as they grieve.

"We know there will be considerable public interest in the people aboard this flight," Byl said. "We respectfully ask that the privacy of all six families be protected and that they be given the space and time they need to grieve."

Latitude will continue to cooperate fully with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, and all other relevant authorities as recovery efforts and the investigation proceed.

Determining the circumstances and cause of an aviation accident is the responsibility of the appropriate investigative authorities and is a careful and methodical process. Latitude will not speculate about the cause of the accident while that work is underway.

The company may provide further relevant information when it is confirmed by the appropriate authorities and can be shared with respect for the families involved.

CRMLS Seeks Declaratory Judgment, Files Complaint Against Compass, Inc.
Image File
Original HTML

CHINO HILLS, Calif., Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Following California Regional MLS's refusal of Compass's demands to cease enforcement of its policies concerning cooperation, CRMLS is seeking a declaratory judgment in the Southern District of New York to prove that its rules are fair, procompetitive, and legally sound.

Compass has been pursuing change to CRMLS's cooperation policies for years. In effect, CRMLS believes Compass wants to participate in and gain benefits from access to the multiple listing service while keeping its own contributions of for-sale properties off the MLS, thereby creating an unequal, disadvantaged marketplace. Most recently, in a September demand letter, Compass threatened suit against CRMLS on the misinformed basis that it violates antitrust laws. In light of these threats, CRMLS now seeks agreement in federal court that CRMLS rules ensure an open, transparent marketplace and that Compass's complaints are unjust and invalid.

CRMLS is not the only targeted entity; Compass has threatened to sue any multiple listing service that does not meet their demands that, in effect, seek to change the overall marketplace to negatively impact the consumer. To oppose such intimidation, CRMLS seeks to create the MLS Cooperation Legal Defense Fund, which will be supported by organizations and groups concerned with consumer transparency, equal listing access, and open competition, including legal-action programs, consumer advocates, attorneys, other MLSs, associations, vendors, and portals. The response to the fund has been significant, with organizations and industry leaders across the real estate community expressing interest in participating and supporting its mission.

"I want to be clear: this case is about more than defending CRMLS from a lawsuit," said CRMLS CEO Art Carter. "It is about protecting a marketplace that works for all real estate professionals and consumers. CRMLS established its rules to promote transparency, competition, and cooperation, and we believe those principles ultimately serve both the public and our broker community. Compass has rejected our reasoning and is advancing legal arguments that we believe are unfair and would allow Compass to free ride on the hard work of cooperating CRMLS subscribers – benefiting from the shared listings, data and resources of the cooperative marketplace while withholding its own publicly marketed listings from the same marketplace. We are asking the court to provide clarity and affirm that the principles of openness, transparency, and cooperation championed by CRMLS are lawful, appropriate, and equitable."

Throughout his career, Dr. Losk and the Headlands Summit team have contributed to clinical research supporting every FDA-approved class of Alzheimer's disease medication brought to market since 1993, including acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (tacrine, donepezil, rivastigmine and galantamine), the NMDA receptor antagonist memantine, and anti-amyloid therapies (aducanumab, lecanemab and donanemab).

"Since our founding, our team has remained focused on helping advance research that can improve the lives of patients and families," said Dr. Losk. "We're proud of the role Headlands Summit has played across nearly every era of Alzheimer's drug development, and we're excited about our current work in burgeoning therapeutic areas."

"Our team is committed to bringing new research opportunities and potential treatment options to the Portland community," said Dr. Andre Barkhuizen, Principal Investigator at Headlands Summit. Caladan's Dubai entity has received in-principle approval for Broker-Dealer Services to institutional clients under Dubai's virtual asset framework.

DUBAI, UAE, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Caladan, a digital asset market maker in Asia, today announced that its Dubai entity, CLDN Broker Dealer FZE, received In-Principle Approval (IPA) from the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) for Broker-Dealer Services on September 15, 2026.

The Caladan group conducts principal trading and provides aggregated liquidity to hundreds of digital assets across 40+ exchanges and dozens of bilateral counterparties. Caladan aggregates these fragmented markets for digital assets into a single source of tailored liquidity, made available via the Caladan API with sub-10ms latency and FIX 4.4 and 5.0SP2 support.

"Dubai has one of the clearest regulatory frameworks for virtual assets in the world," said Julia Zhou, President and Co-Founder of Caladan. "Our team has worked closely with VARA on governance, risk management, and compliance to reach this stage."

The approval is part of Caladan's ongoing strategy to build regulated operations in the financial centers where its clients trade.

"We are seeing growing global demand from institutional clients for the aggregated liquidity we offer," Zhou continued. "These clients need to work with a regulated counterparty to commit capital, and this approval moves us closer to offering that in Dubai. We thank VARA for their engagement."

CLDN Broker Dealer FZE has received In-Principle Approval from the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) for Broker-Dealer Services (reference IPA/26/09/004). In-Principle Approval is not a license. CLDN Broker Dealer FZE will not provide Broker-Dealer Services in or from the Emirate of Dubai until VARA issues a full license. If licensed, CLDN Broker Dealer FZE will serve institutional clients only and will not serve retail clients. A VARA approval or license is not an endorsement of CLDN Broker Dealer FZE or of any virtual asset.
