Jaguar LAA, Inc. Announces Acquisition of Assets Related to the Laminar Program

Transaction positions Jaguar to advance the Laminar program and its differentiated approach to left atrial appendage closure for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Sept. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Jaguar LAA, Inc. ("Jaguar"), a privately held medical device company, today announced the acquisition of assets related to the Laminar program, focused on addressing the left atrial appendage ("LAA") in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation ("AFib"), from Johnson & Johnson.

The transaction brings key Laminar program assets together with members of the team responsible for their development in a newly formed, independent company. Jaguar intends to build on the clinical and development work completed to date and advance the program through its next stages of development and regulatory review.

AFib is a common heart rhythm disorder associated with an increased risk of stroke. In patients with non-valvular AFib, the LAA is an important source of thrombus formation and has long been an area of clinical focus in cardiology and electrophysiology. The Laminar program uses a catheter-based approach and rotational motion to close and eliminate the LAA while leaving minimal device exposure within the left atrium.

"We believe the Laminar technology offers a differentiated approach to LAA closure, particularly through its ability to leave minimal device exposure within the left atrium," said Jason Rogers, Chief Medical Officer of Jaguar. "We are excited to continue the work behind the program and explore its potential to provide an important new treatment option for patients with atrial fibrillation."

Jaguar was formed in partnership with Santé Ventures and members of the Laminar management team. Santé, alongside management and other investors, led the formation and financing of Jaguar and the transaction with Johnson & Johnson. Financial terms were not disclosed.

About Jaguar LAA, Inc.

Knowesis Achieves CMMC Level 2 Certification, Reinforcing Its Commitment to Defense Cybersecurity
Image File
Original HTML

FAIRFAX, Va., Sept. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Knowesis announced today that it has successfully completed its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 assessment. The certification confirms that Knowesis' CMMC assessment scope satisfies the Level 2 requirements for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

CMMC Level 2 requires organizations to implement all 110 security requirements in NIST 800-171, Revision 2, across 14 security requirement families. Achieving this level demands more than a technical upgrade. Contractors must develop extensive documentation, including a System Security Plan that often grows three to five times longer than the plans required at lower certification tiers, and they must submit to a third-party assessment conducted by a Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization, or C3PAO.

On July 13, 2026, the Department of War (DoW) suspended the rollout of CMMC Phase II, which would have made third-party C3PAO audits mandatory, and launched a 60-day review of the program. Phase I self-assessment requirements and annual affirmations remain in effect, and officials have encouraged contractors already pursuing Level 2 certification to continue their efforts as the department works toward a reformed, resumed timeline.

Knowesis ranked highly in its evaluation scoring and was readily approved for certification by the third party evaluation body. By completing its Level 2 assessment ahead of this reform period, Knowesis positions itself as a trusted partner for federal agencies and prime contractors that need proven, audit-ready cybersecurity practices now. The certification builds on Knowesis' existing security posture, which includes its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems registration, and ISO 27001:2022 Information Security Systems registration.

Knowesis views the achievement of CMMC Level 2 certification as a reflection of the discipline and commitment invested in building cybersecurity practices capable of withstanding independent, third-party assessment. As the DoW reviews the future implementation of the CMMC program, Knowesis has already demonstrated that its CMMC environment meets the Level 2 requirements for protecting CUI. The certification provides customers and partners with added assurance that Knowesis is prepared to protect sensitive information and securely support missions involving CUI.

Knowesis is a Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB), providing a full range of professional consulting services to federal and state government agencies to include Scientific and Medical Research, Data and Computational Science, Information Management and Technology, Operations and Management, Strategic Communications, and Policy and Program Evaluation. We currently support multiple entities within the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services.

Knowesis maintains offices in Fairfax, Virginia, with staff at locations across the United States. More information about the company can be found at https://www.knowesis-inc.com/ as well as on LinkedIn.

NEW YORK CAR DEALERS REMEMBER 9/11 - HOW THEY CAME TOGETHER FOR NEW YORK
Image File
Original HTML

NEW YORK, Sept. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty-five years after the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) remembers how the automobile industry pulled together to support efforts in the aftermath of the tragedy.

When the world was witnessing what unfolded in New York and in Washington, D.C, Association President Mark Schienberg was overseas on business, attending the Frankfurt Auto Show with New York Auto Show Chairman John LaSorsa and GNYADA Board Chairman Michael Caruso.

With airspace in the US closed, the group immediately began discussing how New York's car dealers could get involved in the recovery efforts. With limited cell service available in New York due to the collapse of the twin towers, Schienberg contacted Mark Herrmann, the Association's representative to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), to help establish a national response. That effort led to the NADA Survivors Relief Fund, which brought dealers from across the country together to support families and survivors of the attacks. Within weeks, the fund had received hundreds of thousands of dollars in dealer contributions.

At home, GNYADA mobilized its members. On September 26, the Association announced the creation of the Greater New York Auto Dealers Disaster Relief Fund, seeded with an initial $250,000 contribution from GNYADA. The Association called on dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, and dealer associations to contribute to relief efforts.

The response went beyond financial support. New York dealers donated 18 vans to the American Red Cross to assist with rescue and relief operations.

The broader automotive industry was doing the same, with automakers and dealers providing hundreds of vehicles, generators, ATVs, and other equipment to agencies working at Ground Zero and elsewhere.

GNYADA also funded the restoration of a fire truck from a volunteer Bronx firehouse that was severely damaged while responding to the World Trade Center. The restored truck was dedicated at the 2002 New York International Auto Show, in a ceremony attended by former New York City Mayor Giuliani and former Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen.

"Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger," said Schienberg. "But we also remember how the automobile industry came together. Dealers didn't just write checks. They provided vehicles, equipment, their time working at ground zero helping feed the 1st responders, and they reached out to families who had lost everything."

GNYADA and the New York Auto Show continue to find ways to honor and recognize the men and women who serve New York and their communities. First responders have remained a recurring part of the Auto Show's programming and community outreach, culminating in the establishment of First Responders Appreciation Day, which provides complimentary and discounted admission to eligible fire, police, and EMS personnel and their families.

ABOUT GNYADA

Established in 1910, the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association represents more than 400 franchised automobile dealerships throughout the metropolitan New York region. GNYADA advocates on behalf of its dealer members on legislative, regulatory, and industry issues and produces the New York International Automobile Show, North America's oldest automobile show. The association also operates the Center for Automotive Education & Training (CAET) in Queens, providing education and training for the region's automotive workforce.

St. Johns County Outlines Preparations for Proposed Property Tax Amendment 3
Image File
Original HTML

County began planning in May to protect essential services, evaluate capital projects, strengthen reserves, and inform residents

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla., Sept. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- St. Johns County has been preparing since May for the potential effects of proposed Property Tax Amendment 3, which will appear on the Nov. 3, 2026, General Election ballot.

The County has created a dedicated webpage at sjcfl.us/amendment-3 with an overview of the proposed amendment, estimated effects on County revenue, information about the current allocation of property-tax dollars, and links to official sources.

Led by the County Administrator's Office, staff began a countywide review of services, staffing, contracts, capital projects, and funding sources before the amendment was placed on the ballot. That work has informed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Recommended Budget and provides the County with a factual basis for planning under either election outcome.

The County does not advocate for or against the amendment. Its responsibility is to provide factual information to residents and prepare for either result.

According to the Florida Office of Economic and Demographic Research, if the amendment passes, St. Johns County could experience estimated property-tax revenue reductions of:

- $68.3 million in FY 2028

- $136.1 million in FY 2029

- $191.6 million in FY 2032

"Preparing now allows us to make thoughtful decisions, protect essential services, avoid committing resources that may not be available in the future, and stay cognizant of any project that could add a recurring cost burden," County Administrator Joy Andrews said. "Our goal is to position St. Johns County to respond responsibly to whichever outcome our voters choose while continuing to serve our residents and protect the County's long-term financial stability."

County Preparation Measures

Since May, County staff have completed:

- A legislative analysis of the state's 2026 property-tax reform package for the Board of County Commissioners.

- A department-level analysis identifying which County services could continue to be funded with property-tax revenue under the amendment and which would need alternative funding.

- A service inventory covering 380 services across 18 departments.

- A review of 1,137 existing fees and several dozen proposed new fees.

- A financial resiliency strategy organized around 10 areas of review, including personnel, contracts, capital projects, replacement schedules, service costs, revenue diversification, alternative service delivery, agreements, reserves, and workforce and service-level impacts.

Based on that review, funding identified for reassessment after the November election includes:

- $4 million associated with current vacant positions.

- $2 million in FY 2027 positions not recommended for funding.

- $2.6 million in recommended but paused FY 2027 positions.

- Approximately $100 million in capital improvement projects placed on hold.

The County is also reviewing service levels and funding priorities, evaluating alternative revenue sources, including a municipal service benefit unit study, and providing residents with factual information about the amendment and its potential effects.

The FY 2027 Recommended Budget includes $31.2 million in emergency response reserves. These reserves strengthen the County's ability to respond to hurricanes, disasters, and other unforeseen emergencies while protecting the continuity of essential services.

The Recommended Budget also includes an additional $30 million in General Fund reserves designated for financial resiliency in response to Amendment 3. The additional reserves would enhance the County's ability to address service reductions, if necessary.

Capital Improvement Project Review

In June, County Administrator Joy Andrews worked with the Capital Improvement Project Oversight Committee to establish consistent criteria for classifying every capital project as continue, pause, or defer while the outcome of the November vote remains unknown.

Using those criteria, the Committee reviewed current and planned capital projects to determine which should proceed, be modified, or be temporarily placed on hold.

The criteria considered life-safety and legal requirements; grant and other external funding; reliance on property taxes; the project's stage of completion and existing investment; community need; and the financial consequences of pausing and restarting work.

"Placing these projects on hold does not mean they have been canceled," said Daniel Whitcraft, Chair of the CIP Oversight Committee. "This financially responsible approach gives us time to evaluate available funding, project priorities, and alternative revenue sources while also considering the recurring staffing, maintenance, and operating costs each completed project would create. After the election, we will reassess the projects using the best available information and recommend a path forward."

Design or limited site work may continue when appropriate so a project can pause at the least disruptive or least costly point. Projects may also be phased, redesigned, supported through alternative funding, or reconsidered alongside higher-priority needs.

Public Information and Budget Hearings

On Sept. 1, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners held a FY 2027 Budget Workshop as part of its regular meeting. The presentation is available online.

In addition to the dedicated Proposed Property Tax Amendment 3 webpage at sjcfl.us/amendment-3, the County has additional opportunities for public information and participation:

- Sept. 15: The Board of County Commissioners will hold its final budget adoption hearing at 5:01 p.m. in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine. The hearing will provide an opportunity for residents to review the proposed budget and participate in the public hearing process. The County's FY 2027 budget page provides additional information about the final budget hearing.

- Sept. 29: The County will host a Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine. The Town Hall will provide information about Amendment 3 and its potential effects on the County budget.

- FY 2027 Budget webpage: The County's annual budgeting process is available at sjcfl.us/2027-budget, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accountability, and long-term strategic planning.

For more information about Proposed Property Tax Amendment 3, including the proposed changes, estimated County revenue impacts, current property-tax allocations, frequently asked questions, and links to official sources, visit sjcfl.us/amendment-3.

SPARTA, Mich., Sept. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ChoiceOne Financial Services, Inc., and ChoiceOne Bank (NASDAQ: COFS) ("ChoiceOne") are proud to receive the 2026 Habitat for Humanity of Kent County Opportunity Award, recognizing ChoiceOne as a long-term supporter with deep community roots and a vision for building stronger communities for generations to come. Bradley Henion, ChoiceOne Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer, recently accepted the award at Habitat for Humanity of Kent County's Annual Habitat House Party.

"As a local community bank, we believe that strong communities begin with people having a safe, stable place to call home," said Henion. "Receiving the Opportunity Award is a tremendous honor for ChoiceOne. It recognizes our longstanding partnership with Habitat for Humanity and, just as importantly, the time, talent and dedication our employees continue to give through volunteerism. We are proud to stand alongside Habitat in helping families achieve the dream of homeownership and creating opportunities for a brighter future."

The Habitat for Humanity of Kent County Opportunity Award honors long-term supporters and partners who have helped build a strong foundation for Habitat's work and advance its impact through homeownership.

"At ChoiceOne, we know that a home is about much more than four walls and a roof — it provides a sense of security, stability and hope for the future," said ChoiceOne Vice President, CRA/Community Development Officer Celeste Spivey. "There is a tremendous need for attainable housing in our communities, particularly as rising housing costs continue to put homeownership out of reach for many families. We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity of Kent County and its mission to help families build not only homes, but stronger and more stable futures. When families have the opportunity to thrive, our entire community becomes stronger."

ChoiceOne's partnership with Habitat for Humanity reflects the Bank's longstanding commitment to investing in the communities it serves. Through financial support and employee volunteerism, ChoiceOne has helped Habitat advance its mission and make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.

"At ChoiceOne, community banking means being there for our neighbors — not only when they need financial services, but when they need a partner committed to the long-term well-being of the community," said Henion. "We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Habitat for Humanity and honored to continue building a legacy of stronger communities, one family and one home at a time."
