Not Influencers, Not AI, A New Youth Report Finding On Where Young People Place Their Trust Took Center Stage In Malibu Today

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacsun hosted its second annual Purpose Summit today at Soho House's Little Beach House Malibu, bringing together creators, executives, cultural leaders, and young voices across the brand's four founding pillars, fashion, sport, art, and music, for a day of conversation centered on the forces shaping the next generation.

This year's Summit built on findings from Pacsun's newly released 2026 Youth Report, developed with GlobalData, which found that young people place far more trust in family and friends than in influencers or artificial intelligence. The finding became a throughline for conversations throughout the day, raising a larger question for the leaders in the room around how brands and organizations can build genuine relationships with a generation that increasingly values participation, community, and trusted connections.

The day opened not with a keynote but with a guided meditation led by Tai Beauchamp, Founder, Morning Mindset with Tai. From there, conversations moved across creativity and entrepreneurship, technology, community, sport, and self-expression. Speakers included acclaimed fashion designer and creative director Sami Miró, Snapchat's Chief Marketing Officer Grace Kao, Rare Beauty Chief Impact Officer and Rare Impact Fund President Elyse Cohen, Los Angeles Rams Chief Commercial Officer Jennifer Prince, Angel City Football Club CEO Amy Taylor, and VP, Jordan Visioneering & LA28 / Founder and Creative Director, Trillicon Valley Jason Mayden, among others.

The report's central idea, "The Drawbridge Generation," ran through much of the day's conversation. Young people, the report found, are pulling closer to family and friends while becoming more selective about a noisy public world shaped by algorithms and inauthentic messaging. Influencers never break an 11% trust share in any category tested. AI presents an even sharper contrast between adoption and trust. While 85% of young people use it, only 2% trust it for fashion advice and 5% for financial advice. Neil Saunders, Managing Director and Retail Analyst at GlobalData, called it evidence that young people are "becoming more intentional about the relationships, influences and priorities closest to them," even as financial independence slips and social media dependence climbs.

For Pacsun, those findings reinforce an approach the brand has increasingly put into practice through co-creation, bringing young consumers into the conversation rather than simply interpreting youth culture from the outside. The Purpose Summit extends that philosophy by creating a forum where research, lived experience, and perspectives from leaders across culture can inform one another.

"The Purpose Summit gives us an opportunity to take what we're hearing from young people and put it into conversation with the people helping shape the world around them," said Brieane Olson, CEO of Pacsun. "Co-creation starts with listening, but it also means giving people a meaningful role in what comes next. By bringing young voices together with leaders across different industries, we can challenge our own assumptions, learn from one another, and better understand how we can show up for this generation in ways that feel relevant and earned."

That exchange played out across the day's programming, as leaders from industries that intersect in young people's everyday lives explored many of the same questions from distinctly different perspectives.

"What stood out to me about the Purpose Summit is how connected these conversations really are," said Amy Taylor, CEO of Angel City Football Club. "Sport can be an incredibly powerful place for people to find identity, belonging and community, but those ideas extend far beyond the field. Bringing leaders from different corners of culture together with young people themselves creates an opportunity to hear perspectives we might not encounter every day and think differently about the communities we're building for the future."

The Summit also marked the first public appearance of the second cohort of Pacsun's Youth Council, bringing the idea of co-creation directly into the room. The Council gives young consumers an ongoing voice within Pacsun through strategy sessions, workshops, and executive mentorship, creating a direct feedback loop between the brand and the generation it serves. The new cohort was introduced in a session moderated by Kate Nishimura, Deputy Editor at Sourcing Journal, featuring new Youth Council members Sophia Johnson, Iya'Nique Kelly, Max Yu, Ashton Thomas, and Mia Mendoza.

Pacsun also unveiled its inaugural Youth 25™, recognizing 25 creators, artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs shaping the next generation across fashion, art, sport, music, technology, and digital culture. As part of the Summit, Pacsun presented Youth 25 honors in person to Grace Kao and Michelle K. Hanabusa celebrating their contributions to culture and the communities they influence.

The day included:

Opening Meditation – Tai Beauchamp (Morning Mindset with Tai)

The 2026 Youth Report – Neil Saunders (GlobalData)

Fireside Chat, Building at the Scale of Trust – Michelle K. Hanabusa (UPRISERS), Erick de Vera (Gardens and Seeds), Sami Miró, and Elijah Baig (Springy), moderated by Oliver Chen of TD Cowen

Keynote, How Snapchat is This Generation's Media of Choice – Grace Kao (Snapchat)

Youth Council Introduction – Kate Nishimura (Sourcing Journal), featuring Sophia Johnson, Iya'Nique Kelly, Max Yu, Ashton Thomas, and Mia Mendoza

Fireside Chat, Turning Purpose Into Action – Elyse Cohen (Rare Beauty & Rare Impact Fund), Jennifer Prince (Los Angeles Rams), Amy Taylor (Angel City Football Club)

Fireside Chat, Purpose by Design – Jason Mayden (VP, Jordan Visioneering & LA28 / Founder and Creative Director, Trillicon Valley)

Now in its second year, the Purpose Summit reflects Pacsun's broader approach to staying connected to youth culture through ongoing dialogue and co-creation. Alongside the Summit, the Youth Report, Youth Council, PS Community Hub, and newly introduced Ambassador Program give young people multiple ways to share their perspectives and participate in shaping the brand. Together, these initiatives help Pacsun continually listen, learn, and evolve alongside its community across fashion, sport, art, and music.

Mid-Autumn Festival: Exploring Ancient Rituals at the Temple of the Moon, Expressing Good Wishes Beneath the Full Moon

BEIJING, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A news report from China.org.cn on the Mid-Autumn Festival:

Mid-Autumn Festival: Exploring Ancient Rituals at the Temple of the Moon, Expressing Good Wishes Beneath the Full Moon

The Mid-Autumn Festival marks an occasion to reunite with family and pray for blessings beneath the full moon for Chinese people. For thousands of years, the imperial rituals of moon worship blended with ordinary people's romantic reveries of the moon and stars, giving rise to unique folk customs and heartfelt warmth that define China's Mid-Autumn Festival.

Autumn is the harvest season, and on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the moon is full and round. And for Chinese people, a full moon is a symbol of the whole family being together. Enjoying jasmine flowers, celebrating the harvest and having a big family dinner - all these reflect one simple wish: peace and togetherness.

From the solemn imperial rituals of moon worship to lively and heartwarming folk customs, the Mid-Autumn Festival has kept evolving, yet people's longing for reunion and love for family has never faded.

TIER IV to co-host educational autonomous driving event, advancing tech outreach and youth talent development
Image File
Original HTML

TOKYO, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- TIER IV, the pioneering force behind open-source software for autonomous driving, will co-host an educational event for junior and senior high school students on September 26 at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Tokyo. Organized in collaboration with Tamiya, Macnica and zero to one, a Kawaijuku Group company, the event will give participants hands-on experience with AI robots and autonomous driving technology to explore how humans and AI can collaborate in the future.

Miraikan project

TIER IV participates in Miraikan's research area, where it leads the Open-Source Autonomous Driving Project, an initiative to nurture the next generation of talent by providing opportunities to learn about and experience autonomous driving. TIER IV conducts research and development on site, advancing Autoware, open-source software for autonomous driving, while also creating a space for collaboration with corporate and public sector partners.

Deploying autonomous driving technology requires more than technological breakthroughs – developers, users and local communities must shape its future together. With Miraikan serving as one of its bases for these activities, TIER IV is expanding its public outreach to connect society and technology, drawing on experience working with developers and companies around the world through an open-source ecosystem.

Hands-on activities

The event is designed primarily for junior and senior high school students and features three interactive sessions:

- AI workshop: Participants will train an AI robot jointly developed by Tamiya and Macnica, experiencing how AI recognizes its surroundings and makes decisions based on what it sees.

- Autonomous driving simulator: Using Autoware through the online course "Building Autonomous Driving Systems," jointly developed by TIER IV and zero to one, participants will experience autonomous driving on their PCs. They will operate virtual vehicles in a simulator running on a cloud-based GPU environment and learn how autonomous vehicles recognize their surroundings, decide where to go, and control movement.

- AI RC car demonstration: TIER IV and Tamiya will demonstrate an AI-powered radio-controlled car jointly developed by the companies, showing up close how an autonomous vehicle navigates its environment.

Through these experiences, students, researchers and Miraikan's science communicators will explore key questions: How should we train AI? What does AI see when making decisions? How much responsibility should society entrust to autonomous systems?

Nurturing the next generation

TIER IV continues to expand the global Autoware ecosystem to make autonomous driving accessible to all. For autonomous driving to become ubiquitous across society, industry needs more than just software engineers – it also needs young minds that can think critically about how emerging technologies interact with society.

Going forward, TIER IV will continue to provide learning opportunities in AI and autonomous driving in collaboration with partners such as Tamiya, Macnica and zero to one. By bringing together experts in R&D, education and manufacturing, TIER IV aims to empower future innovators and invites everyone to help shape the future of mobility.

NO FLIGHT REQUIRED: EAGLE RIDGE RESORT & SPA OFFERS FALL & WINTER ESCAPES IN ILLINOIS' DRIFTLESS REGION

Seasonal Packages, Championship Golf, Elevated Dining and Galena Traditions Give Midwest Travelers More Reasons to Make the Drive

GALENA, Ill., Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- For travelers looking for a quieter getaway without the airport, Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa offers unexpected fall or winter escapes in northwest Illinois' Driftless Region, an area known for the rolling hills, wooded ridges and valleys that distinguish it from much of the Midwest.

Set amid 6,800 scenic acres overlooking Lake Galena, Eagle Ridge sits in a landscape largely untouched by the Ice Age glaciers that flattened much of the surrounding region. The result is dramatic terrain, brilliant fall color and sweeping views that make the resort feel far removed from city lifewhile remaining about 150 miles west of Chicago, an easy drive from Madison, Dubuque, Milwaukee, Rockford and the Quad Cities, and a worthwhile road trip from St. Louis.

This fall, guests can experience the landscape across four championship golf courses, including The General, known for its dramatic elevation changes and countryside views, as well as hiking, horseback riding, seasonal recreation on Lake Galena and Stonedrift Spa.

Seasonal getaway packages, 63 holes of golf, fall foliage, reimagined dining and Galena's signature events give couples, families and groups plenty of reasons to trade the airport for the open road.

A Fresh Culinary Direction

New executive chef Brandon Veitch is leading Eagle Ridge's culinary program with refreshed menus and an elevated focus on seasonal dining. Veitch joined the resort in June following experience at The Peninsula Chicago, The Langham Chicago and Edge by Goldmoor Inn in Galena.

At Woodlands Restaurant, overlooking Lake Galena, the new dinner menu features elevated dishes including Lobster Cavatappi, Heritage Pork Chop, Alaskan Halibut and Prime New York Strip. Popular resort traditions also continue with Thursday Pasta Night and Saturday Prime Rib Night.

Seasonal Getaway Packages

Eagle Ridge is offering a lineup of limited-time packages built around popular fall and holiday weekends:

- Spooky Weekend Getaway — Oct. 22-25, 2026: Includes two nights of accommodations, $75 in Eagle Ridge Dollars, two tickets per bedroom to Fear Forest at Shenandoah Riding Center and transportation to and from Fear Forest for registered package guests. Accommodations range from Inn rooms to five-bedroom distinctive homes. Rates start at $573. Fear Forest is an immersive nighttime walking experience through the woods recommended for ages 13 and older.

- Halloween Party — Oct. 30, 2026: Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa will host a Halloween party at Highlands Restaurant & Lounge from 7 to 11 p.m. The evening will feature Halloween fun, drinks and entertainment.

- Thanksgiving Getaway — Nov. 24-28, 2026: The three-night package includes accommodations ranging from Inn rooms to two-bedroom villas, $70 in Eagle Ridge Dollars, plus a large family pizza and soft drinks from Woodlands Restaurant. Rates start at $612, plus tax and resort amenity fee. Guests also can enjoy a lavish traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the resort, featuring all the holiday favorites.

Galena's Fall and Holiday Lineup

Just minutes from historic downtown Galena, Eagle Ridge provides an easy home base for some of the region's signature fall and holiday events:

- Oct. 3 — Galena Oktoberfest: The 19th annual celebration at Depot Park features German-style food and beer, live polka music, wiener dog races, stein-hoisting competitions and family activities.

- Oct. 10-11 — Galena Country Fair: More than 120 art, craft and fine-art vendors, along with food, drinks, live music and family activities, fill Grant Park for the annual fall fair.

- Oct. 31 — Galena Halloween Parade & Festival: One of Galena's signature fall traditions brings illuminated floats, marching bands, costumed characters and entertainment to Main Street from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

- Nov. 20-21 — Galena Nouveau Wine Weekend: Galena Cellars celebrates the release of its 2026 Nouveau wine with the annual Nouveau parade, wine tastings, live music, special dinners and events throughout downtown Galena.

Weather permitting, the resort's Nordic Center transforms the area surrounding The General golf course into a winter playground with ice skating, snowshoeing and sledding down the dramatic 10th hole. Golfers can also keep playing indoors at Eagle Ridge's golf simulator, while Stonedrift Spa, resort dining and spacious villas and distinctive homes offer plenty of ways to unwind indoors.

Winter Getaway Package

- Family Holiday Package — Dec. 26, 2026-Jan. 2, 2027: The three-night package includes accommodations ranging from Inn rooms to five-bedroom distinctive homes, $70 in Eagle Ridge Dollars, a large family pizza and soft drink from Woodlands Restaurant and complimentary Nordic Center access, including sled rentals, weather permitting. Guests staying in accommodations with three or more bedrooms receive two pizzas and two soft drinks.

Galena Holiday Events

- Dec. 5 — Galena Holidaze Festival and Holiday Fire in the Sky: Downtown Galena celebrates the season with artisans, food, entertainment and family activities, followed by the Holiday Fire in the Sky fireworks display at 6:30 p.m.

- Dec. 12 — Night of the Luminaria & Living Windows: Thousands of candlelit luminaries illuminate downtown Galena as Main Street storefronts come alive with animated holiday windows. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

With accommodations ranging from traditional Inn rooms to spacious villas and distinctive homes, Eagle Ridge gives couples, families and larger groups the flexibility to turn a day in Galena into a full fall, winter or holiday getaway.

NORTHEAST FLORIDA NATIVE AND AIR FORCE VETERAN GORDON CHARLES MACLEAN RETURNS HOME TO LAUNCH DEBUT BOOK THE AWAKE CODE AND THE AWAKE SOCIETY

MacLean Encourages Readers to "Wake Up" With 39 Practical Principles for Greater Purpose, Awareness and Intention, and a New Community Built Around the Awake Mindset

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- October is National Book Month, offering readers an opportunity to discover new perspectives, reconnect with reading and reflect on the stories and ideas that shape their lives. For Northeast Florida native Gordon Charles MacLean, it is also a timely reminder to consider whether we are fully engaged in our lives, or simply going through the motions.

MacLean explores that question in his debut book, The Awake Code: 39 Rules for Living a Fully Engaged Life. Drawing from his experiences in the military, commercial real estate, entrepreneurship and leadership, the book presents 39 practical principles for living with greater purpose, awareness and intention.

His path into military service began as a young man searching for direction. While serving with the U.S. Air Force's 9th Reconnaissance Wing, MacLean supported classified electronic warfare, reconnaissance and intelligence collection systems aboard the U-2 aircraft. The experience gave him a foundation in discipline, responsibility, awareness and perseverance that would later influence his approach to life and leadership.

Following his military service, MacLean built a commercial real estate career spanning office, retail, multifamily and industrial assets. Over more than three decades, he completed more than 200 transactions. During the 2009 financial crisis, however, he watched much of what he had built disappear.

That setback forced MacLean to reconsider not only how he worked, but also how he lived. He began documenting the lessons, observations and personal principles that helped him rebuild his life. Those reflections ultimately became The Awake Code.

"This isn't motivation," MacLean said. "It isn't a theory. It's lived experience tested through pressure, through failure, through rebuilding. No fluff. No clichés. Just principles that actually work."

Each chapter combines personal stories, lessons inspired by influential leaders and thinkers, reflection questions and practical action steps. Topics include leadership, resilience, self-awareness, generosity, meaningful relationships and personal responsibility.

MacLean hopes the book will encourage readers, particularly professionals, entrepreneurs, veterans and those navigating major life transitions, to recognize areas where they may be "sleepwalking" and begin taking intentional steps forward.

Extending the principles of the book beyond the page, MacLean is also launching The Awake Society, a community built around the ideas at the heart of The Awake Code. The Society is intended to bring together people who want to live with greater awareness, purpose and intention while creating meaningful connections with others committed to doing the same.

For MacLean, The Awake Code provides the framework, while The Awake Society gives readers a way to put those principles into practice and connect with others committed to living more intentionally.

With his Florida roots and longstanding connection to Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach, the Northeast Florida launch brings MacLean back to the community where many of his earliest lessons in work, discipline and purpose began. XtalPi Submits U.S. FDA IND Application for KQTD-126, a Potential First-in-Class, Gut-Restricted Pan-TRK Inhibitor for Chronic Intestinal Pain
Image File
Original HTML

- This milestone marks the first IND submission from XtalPi's proprietary pipeline, recently unveiled in its interim results, validating the company's AI and robotics-driven drug discovery platform and its transition to a clinical-stage organization.

- Preclinical data demonstrate sub-nanomolar potency ( 1 nM) alongside a gut-to-blood exposure ratio exceeding 1,000:1, confining pharmacological activity to the gastrointestinal tract to limit systemic exposure.

- The candidate is the industry's first gut-restricted pan-TRK inhibitor developed for IBS and IBD, targeting a critical therapeutic gap in the long-term management of chronic pain without the neurological liabilities of systemic inhibitors.

BOSTON and SHENZHEN, CHINA, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- XtalPi (HKEX: 2228), an AI- and robotics-driven drug and materials discovery company, today announced the submission of an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for KQTD-126. Developed internally, the candidate is a potential first-in-class gut-restricted pan-tropomyosin receptor kinase (pan-TRK) inhibitor designed to treat chronic intestinal pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

IBS affects approximately 10%–15% of the global population, while more than 10 million people live with IBD. Chronic abdominal pain is a major burden for patients with IBS and can persist in some patients with IBD even when standard therapies control their underlying inflammation. Despite available treatments, additional options that provide sustained pain relief and are suitable for long-term use remain an unmet clinical need. According to BCC Research, the global IBS and IBD therapeutics market is projected to reach US$52.6 billion by 2030.

KQTD-126 targets the TRK family of receptors (TRKA, TRKB, and TRKC), which directly regulate nerve activity and pain-signal amplification in the gut. While inhibiting these pathways can effectively manages this pain, TRK receptors also operate throughout the central nervous system. Consequently, traditional systemic TRK inhibitors carry a high risk of neurological side effects. A viable chronic pain treatment must therefore confine its activity strictly to the gastrointestinal tract.

Achieving this precise biological profile required navigating a vast chemical space to balance target affinity and kinase selectivity with properties governing tissue distribution. To resolve these competing design objectives, XtalPi leveraged its generative and predictive AI models integrated with its fleet of automated chemistry robots. This closed-loop process of computational design, automated synthesis, empirical screening, and molecular refinement allowed the company to iterate across structural variants and achieve robust gut restriction while preserving strong target activity and selectivity.

In preclinical studies, KQTD-126 achieved pan-TRK inhibition at sub-nanomolar concentrations (IC₅₀ 1 nM) and maintained high selectivity over other kinases. The candidate also demonstrated a gut tissue-to-blood exposure ratio exceeding 1,000:1. Together, these findings support KQTD-126's development as a locally acting treatment intended to deliver sustained pain relief with a wider therapeutic window.

KQTD-126 is the first program in XtalPi's proprietary pipeline to reach an IND submission since the portfolio was unveiled in the company's recent interim results. As a global scientific utility platform, XtalPi draws on a shared foundation of quantum physics, AI, and robotics to deliver discovery capabilities spanning small molecules, antibodies, peptides, siRNA therapeutics, and molecular glues. This comprehensive infrastructure empowers the company and its partners to pursue high-value targets using the modality best suited to the underlying biology. By advancing internal assets alongside established collaborations, XtalPi maximizes the impact of its technology to resolve complex drug design challenges and deliver transformative therapies for patients worldwide.

Nuix Recognised as a RiskTech100® 2027 Disruptor by Chartis Research

SYDNEY, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nuix (ASX:NXL), a global leader in investigative analytics and intelligence software, announced it has been named a Disruptor in the Risk Infrastructure category of the Chartis RiskTech100® 2027.

The RiskTech100 2027 is a leading industry recognition program that evaluates risk technology companies across a range of categories, assessing their capabilities, innovation, and impact on the broader risk management landscape. The Disruptor category, specifically, highlights organisations that push boundaries and introduce transformative approaches within their specific fields. Chartis analysts reviewed more than 900 companies and engaged with over 200 shortlisted vendors, with only 17 firms recognised as Disruptors.

Talking about the recognition John Ruthven, Chief Executive Officer, Nuix, said: "We're recognized as a disruptor because we bring unstructured data intelligence to risk and compliance. Risk infrastructure has traditionally been built on structured data, yet the information that now drives risk: email, documents, chat and voice, is precisely what conventional platforms can't read. Bringing intelligence to unstructured data at scale is what Nuix has done for 25 years. Nuix Neo carries that intelligence into the risk infrastructure layer, giving regulators, government agencies, and enterprises a foundation they can trust."

Being named a Disruptor in Risk Infrastructure by Chartis reflects the market impact of Nuix Neo, an integrated, AI-enabled Unstructured Data Intelligence platform that unifies large-scale patented data processing engine, with automation and orchestration in a single governed pipeline. With Linkurious graph intelligence integrated, Nuix Neo not only resolves entities it can visualise the connections between them. Providing the intelligence that underpins modern investigations, compliance, and fraud detection so that regulators, government agencies, corporations and professional services firms can surface insight from vast volumes of structured and unstructured in a defensible, auditable way.

Risk Infrastructure is the layer beneath risk and compliance decisions, the data foundation that determines whether analytics and AI can be trusted. Risk signals are typically scattered across different systems, and much of the information that matters is unstructured: email, documents, chat and voice that conventional risk platforms cannot read.

The RiskTech100® 2027 rankings and category winners were announced on 24 September at RiskLive North America in New York, alongside the RiskTech100® 2027 Virtual Conference and the publication of the full RiskTech100® 2027 report.
