From Cloud Connectivity to AI, AT&T Proof of Concept Labs™ Has Spent 30 Years Validating Technology for Customers
Image File
Original HTML

As one of the industry's first customer-centered labs, the AT&T Proof of Concept Labs has helped test and prove technologies across networking, mobility, 5G, edge, and more.

Key Takeaways:

- For 30 years, AT&T's Proof of Concept (PoC) Labs have provided enterprises with a real-world environment to evaluate emerging solutions, from early IP networking to edge computing.

- As AT&T marks 150 years since the first phone call, the labs are a testament to the company's commitment to customer-led innovation and success.

- The team of AT&T experts works with more than 500 customers each year across healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and more, helping them leverage connectivity solutions to lead their industries.

- Innovative companies like the Dallas Cowboys, DirtFish Rally School, iHeartMedia, and Sovato have used the labs to validate connectivity for large-scale events, remote broadcasts, resilient real-time audio delivery, and remote surgical applications.

DALLAS, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T Proof of Concept (PoC) Labs celebrates its 30th anniversary as the first-of-its-kind enabler of next-level networking technology and innovation. In a hands-on lab, customers and AT&T teams test and validate emerging technologies before they are deployed in the real world, helping ensure new services, experiences, and technologies work reliably at scale. Established in 1996, the program began as a practical way to help customers understand how new networking technologies would perform in their own environments. What started with a small lab spun off from AT&T Bell Laboratories grew into an important driver of customer satisfaction for AT&T Business, supporting more than 500 enterprise businesses each year across a variety of industries.

"We start with the customer first. For three decades, the AT&T PoC Labs have been a critical vehicle for helping customers move from possibility to execution," said Zee Hussain, SVP, Global Enterprise Solutions, AT&T Business. "As one of the industry's first customer-focused innovation labs, this program is a proof point for AT&T's role as the right collaborator who understands and solves connectivity needs. The customer leads the way, and we work alongside them to test what's possible and connect them to greater possibility."

From early networking to business-grade innovation

As businesses began moving from legacy networking technologies to more flexible Internet Protocol (IP)-based environments, the original vision was simple: bring customers, AT&T experts, and emerging technologies together to validate solutions and make decisions faster. Over time, the labs evolved into a proving ground where customers could see new technology in action, test their own applications, assess network designs, and reduce risk before deploying at scale.

Key milestones that helped shape business connectivity as we know it:

- 1990s: IP Networking – Businesses needed more flexible networks as they expanded beyond headquarters and adopted email, client-server applications, and early internet-based tools. AT&T experts helped companies move from legacy networking to IP-based applications through technologies like IP-enabled Frame Relay, laying the foundation for modern business operations.

- 2000s: Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Global Enterprise Connectivity – Increasingly distributed organizations required secure, reliable connectivity across locations. Testing supported the adoption of MPLS-based architectures, establishing the foundation for modern wide-area networks (WANs), global collaboration, and real-time business operations.

- 2010s: Cloud Adoption – The shift of applications and workloads to cloud environments increased the need for better network performance and greater control over traffic between corporate networks and cloud platforms. The team helped enterprises integrate cloud connectivity and software-defined networking into existing environments through solutions like AT&T NetBond®, helping accelerate cloud adoption.

- Today: Converged Connectivity, Secure Edge, Private Cellular, and 5G – Edge computing, industrial automation, AI workloads, and connected devices require secure, resilient connectivity wherever work happens. In the labs, customers can test live applications and a variety of configurations that bring together fiber, 5G, satellite, security, and edge technologies as part of AT&T's converged network strategy. The testing environment also evaluates capabilities such as private cellular, network-integrated security, edge computing, and 5G-enabled solutions, helping customers determine how they can support use cases for manufacturing, remote operations, large events, and other emerging applications.

Today, the AT&T PoC Labs have locations in Dallas; Alpharetta, Ga.; Chantilly, Va.; Chicago; and Middletown, N.J. Testing happens in the labs, at customer sites, and in the field using portable Proof of Concept Kits that support use cases such as Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) with 5G and low Earth orbit satellite (LEO), as well as private 5G with endpoint devices.

Customer innovation across industries

The clearest measure of the labs' impact is the innovation customers have been able to achieve, turning ideas into possibility. Across industries, the team has helped customers translate complex connectivity challenges into practical breakthroughs, from cashless vending and enhanced fan experiences to new possibilities for remote surgery.

- DirtFish Rally School faced a connectivity challenge when broadcasting a live summit from the foothills of Washington's Cascade Mountains, where cellular and Wi-Fi coverage was unavailable. The AT&T PoC Labs and Global Video Solutions (GVS) team deployed a Proof of Concept Kit with a portable private wireless network from a carry-on-size suitcase, replacing equipment that once required a 50-foot bus. The solution supported live in-car footage and new camera angles, creating a more dynamic viewing experience for fans.

"While the technology inside our cars is cutting edge, our ability to share the sport hasn't kept pace," said Brenten Kelly, managing director at DirtFish Rally School. "Rally happens in some of the most remote places in the country, often without cellular service. If we couldn't document it, we couldn't share the sport beyond the people standing at the side of the road with us. The PoC Labs and GVS helped us prove that we could bring those experiences to a much larger audience and showed us what was possible for the future of rally racing."

- Dallas Cowboys needed reliable connectivity for event operations as fan experiences expanded beyond the stadium into surrounding areas where traditional Wi-Fi may not reach. AT&T Business Wireless and lab experts helped test a network slicing solution over AT&T's public 5G network, creating a prioritized lane for critical operations and helping inform future deployments across large, sports-anchored districts.

- iHeartMedia reaches nine out of 10 Americans through its broadcast radio assets, and even more through its iHeartRadio streaming service, podcasts, and other platforms. To support resilient, real-time audio delivery nationwide, the company worked with the labs to compare leading SD-WAN platforms under identical conditions. The testing validated performance against iHeartMedia's resiliency and operational needs, giving the company confidence to make a data-driven technology decision.

- Sovato, the world's first robot-agnostic platform for remote procedure programs, depends on highly secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity to provide its solution that enables remote surgery and procedure programs. The company worked with the PoC Labs to evaluate AT&T Virtual Private Network (VPN), AT&T Dedicated Internet, and AT&T satellite connectivity in real-world environments. The testing confirmed that the network could consistently meet stringent performance requirements for procedural and surgical applications, unlocking new possibilities for patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical excellence.

Built for what comes next

As AT&T continues to celebrate 150 years of connecting Americans since the first telephone call, the AT&T PoC Labs carries that legacy forward. In the era of AI, this work ensures customers are prepared for the consistent low latency needed for AI and automated technologies like autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and robotics. The labs helped test and validate AT&T Private Cellular Anywhere, a 5G solution designed to support real work across sites, hard‑to‑reach environments, and mobile teams with the control and performance modern operations require. The team also helps enterprise customers build AI-ready networks by evaluating how AI traffic patterns may affect network design and future capacity needs, helping customers prepare for an increasingly connected future.

From private cellular to AI and what comes next, the labs connect innovation with measurable business outcomes and help enterprises prepare for the future of connectivity. By helping customers test and validate advanced connectivity, the AT&T PoC Labs enables new services, experiences and technologies to work reliably while helping organizations move forward with confidence.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- MedStar Health, Georgetown University, and The Coalition, through its DC Community Anchor Partnership (DCAP) program, held the first Business Local Impact Connection Day — Construction Edition at Georgetown University's Capitol Campus. The event reflects the partnership's shared commitment to grow economic opportunity for local businesses across the District.

The debut Construction Edition event focused on strengthening business relationships and forging connections between MedStar Health, Georgetown University, The Coalition and existing and potential partners in the DC-metro construction market.

Throughout the day, participants learned about one another's services, discussed subcontracting needs, and explored possible future construction industry partnerships through networking activities and guided conversations.

Business Local Impact is part of MedStar Health's broader commitment to supporting the well-being and prosperity of the communities we serve across the Maryland and Washington, D.C. region.

Through the Business Local Impact Portal, MedStar Health increases the visibility of local businesses and provides a way for associates to learn more about their services and capabilities.

"This event is about building relationships and creating connections," said Shermaine Pollard, MedStar Health director of Business Local Impact. "By bringing local businesses and prime contractors together, we're creating a space for them to learn more about one another and explore where there may be opportunities to work together."

"We're inviting our operational partners to embrace the Georgetown spirit of being 'People for Others,'" said Jami J. Rodgers, Chief Procurement Officer and Associate Vice President for Financial Operations at Georgetown University. "Together, we can ensure that every dollar spent, subcontract awarded, and facility developed leaves a lasting, positive footprint on Washington, D.C."

"DCAP demonstrates the power of connection, bringing private, nonprofit, and public partners together around a shared goal and creating opportunities to turn those relationships into meaningful economic impact," said Steve Glaude, President and CEO at The Coalition. "The Vendor Connection Day model is one way we put that power of connection into practice. This event brings that same approach to the construction sector, connecting local businesses with prime contractors and creating new opportunities for partnership."

MedStar Health and Georgetown University are both DCAP anchor institutions. Through DCAP, a program of The Coalition, participating anchor institutions come together to strengthen connections with D.C.-based businesses and expand economic opportunity across the District.

Since its launch in 2017, DCAP institutions have generated more than $1.5 billion in cumulative spending with D.C.-based businesses, with participation growing from four anchor institutions to 17 today.

HONDA CENTER KICKS OFF 2026-27 SEASON WITH EXCITING NHL SCHEDULE, HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CONCERTS, NEW FOOD & BEVERAGE, AND CONTINUED ARENA UPGRADES AHEAD OF OCVIBE OPENING SPRING 2027

Honda Center Encore continues its $1 billion transformation as Phase 1 of OCVIBE prepares to open with new dining, entertainment, and public spaces around Honda Center

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Anaheim Ducks return to the ice for the 2026-27 NHL season, Honda Center is welcoming guests with new food and beverage offerings, enhanced amenities, and continued arena upgrades designed to make every visit even better. Alongside a packed calendar of NHL games, concerts and family entertainment, work continues on the $1 billion Honda Center Encore transformation. And beginning in 2027, the opening of OCVIBE will extend that experience beyond the arena, introducing new places to dine, gather, and spend time before and after events, and creating more reasons to visit the area around Honda Center year-round.

The excitement begins on October 1 with the World's Collide Concert Tour, followed by Thomas Rhett on October 2 and Breaking Benjamin on October 3, leading into the Anaheim Ducks home opener against the Florida Panthers on October 4. The four-day stretch reflects the range of sports and entertainment experiences that will fill Honda Center throughout the 2026-27 season.

"We're entering this season with more momentum than ever, both inside Honda Center and across the broader OCVIBE district," said Bill Foltz, Chief Executive Officer of OCVIBE. "We continue to invest in Honda Center to elevate every part of the guest experience, while OCVIBE is creating new ways for fans to spend time here beyond an event. Together, these investments are creating a destination unlike anything in Orange County."

Honda Center Encore Continues to Transform the Arena

The new season comes as progress continues on Honda Center Encore, a $1 billion privately funded transformation of the city-owned arena designed to elevate the guest experience while Honda Center remains open for games, concerts, and other events.

The multi-year project is bringing new premium spaces, upgraded guest amenities, enhanced food and beverage offerings, and arena-wide improvements, with construction continuing through 2027.

Among the new and enhanced experiences being introduced as part of Honda Center Encore are:

Splitero Club

The new Splitero Club gives guests another premium way to experience events at Honda Center. Located on the Columbia Bank Club Level, the club features private booths, loge seats, dining tables, a full-service bar, buffet, and lounge areas.

"Honda Center is investing in the guest experience at a remarkable scale, and we're proud that the new Splitero Club is part of it," said Michael Gifford, CEO and Co-Founder of Splitero. "Members of the Splitero Club will enjoy a premium experience, and we can't wait to share the space with the incredible Orange County community."

The club also provides premium parking and direct access from the new River Garage, creating a more seamless experience from arrival through the event.

Splitero Club offers unparalleled views for all ticketed events at Honda Center and is the first in arena history to offer concert views from within a club, giving its members the opportunity to enjoy live performances from the comfort of the premium space.

Renovated Restrooms and Guest Amenities

Honda Center Encore continues to bring exciting guest-forward improvements to some of the most frequently used spaces throughout Honda Center. Newly renovated restrooms feature updated finishes and Kimberly-Clark products, while continued improvements throughout the arena are designed to make the guest experience more comfortable and convenient.

"Kimberly-Clark Professional is excited to partner with Honda Center to elevate the fan experience through a shared focus on sustainability and care," said Laura Hibbard, Kimberly-Clark Professional District Manager. "From puck drop to the final encore, we're proud to support a cleaner, more responsible arena environment that reflects Honda Center's commitment to their guests and community. Together, we're creating a positive impact that extends far beyond the stage, because better care leads to a better world."

Honda Center's First Aid location has found a new home this season just outside of Section 202. In partnership with UCI Health, Honda Center's First Aid offers guests medical services, including an on-site doctor, EMTs, complimentary feminine products, wheelchair assistance, and a family restroom.

Additional enhancements are being introduced throughout premium areas, concourses, and guest spaces as the transformation continues.

"Honda Center Encore is transforming the way guests experience the arena, and we're excited to see more of that vision come to life this season," said Kevin Starkey, Chief Venue Operations Officer, OCVIBE. "From new premium spaces and renovated amenities to improvements throughout the building, every part is designed with the guest in mind. We're continuing this work while hosting a full schedule of events, and that takes an incredible amount of coordination across our teams. Our goal here is to make sure guests continue to have a great experience every time they visit Honda Center, even as we build what's next."

Construction on the new South Entrance is also progressing, with the structure now taking shape on the south side of Honda Center. The east and west elevator towers have reached full height, and steel construction is advancing on the center tower and atrium. Guests can now see the scale of the new five-story entrance coming to life as part of Honda Center Encore.

The continued investment in Honda Center is designed to enhance the experience from the moment guests arrive through the final moments of an event, while positioning the venue for the next generation of sports and entertainment in Southern California.

New Food & Beverage Experiences

As guests return to Honda Center this season, they will encounter new food and beverage offerings, amenities, and enhancements designed to make every part of the event experience more convenient and engaging.

Executive Chef Cesar Regalado and the in-house culinary team are excited to showcase new menu items and returning fan favorites. New menu highlights include the Schiacciata Sweet Sandwich with Nutella and fresh fruit, Buñuelos topped with cajeta caramel and Abuelita hot chocolate ganache, Chicken Tender Tacos, a Mediterranean Bowl with grilled chicken and turmeric rice, The Golden Dog, an elevated twist on the classic hot dog, Pork & Roll with pulled pork and beer cheese, Fish & Chips, the shareable Fun Bucket with fried chicken and sides, and the Griddle Double Stacker with maple bacon jam and garlic aioli. Developed by Executive Chef Cesar Regalado and the Honda Center culinary team, the new offerings bring greater variety and creativity to the arena's food program this season.

Additional new menu items include a Classic Italian Sandwich, Burritos, Protein Bowl, Orange Lasagna, Shrimp and Chips, Gumbo, Beignets, Loaded Pretzels, and more.

"Food and beverage is an important part of the overall experience at Honda Center, and we're always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our guests," said Anthony Olheiser, Senior Vice President, Hospitality. "This season, our culinary team is introducing creative new dishes alongside returning favorites, while our beverage program continues to evolve with new brands, technology, and ways to enjoy a drink throughout the arena. From our concessions to our bars and outdoor spaces, we want guests to have more choices and more reasons to explore everything Honda Center has to offer."

The expanded menu is complemented by new beverage offerings from Honda Center's growing lineup. Guests can now enjoy Coors Banquet, Coors Light and Coors 0.0 from Molson Coors, Modelo and Pacifico from Constellation Brands. Draft Picks, recently awarded the 2026 Excellence in Concessions Award for Best New Technology by Pollstar, will be serving up new brews this season.

The automatic self-serving beer stands, Blue Moon Draft Picks, located at Section 424, will serve Coors Lights, Coors Banquet, Blue Moon, Blue Moon Mango Wheat, and more. Opening later in the season, Modelo Puck Draft Picks at Section 210 will offer Modelo, Modelo Negra, Modelo Oro, Modelo Chelada, and non-alcoholic Modelo Salt and Lime Chelada, plus assorted hot foods, snacks, wine by the bottle, and more.

The Tito's Handmade Vodka space at Section 415 offers cocktails, mocktails, and beer and wine. The bar will also serve Tito's handcrafted cocktails, including Lemon Puck Drop with Tito's Handmade Vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, triple sec, and Sprite in a souvenir cup, and the Penalty Punch with Tito's Handmade Vodka, pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, and grenadine in a souvenir cup.

A returning fan favorite is Modelo Puck Drop Patio, offering ticket holders a way to enjoy the Southern California weather, shop the latest Ducks merchandise, and special offers like $5 12oz Modelo, Modelo Negra, and Modelo Oro from opening until puck drop.

Additional spaces will debut later this season, including the Coors Light Cold Zone and Jack Daniel's Backstage Bar, giving guests even more new experiences to discover throughout the season.

A Full Season of Sports, Music, and Entertainment

The 2026-27 season brings an expanded mix of sports, music, family entertainment, and new guest experiences to Honda Center. While the Anaheim Ducks remain at the center of the calendar, the venue continues to evolve as a place where guests can come for a game, concert, or special event and find more ways to enjoy their time before, during, and after each experience.

The season will also bring unique moments that connect Honda Center's past and future.

The Leading Provider of Accessible Body Composition Scans, BodySpec, Opens Latest Storefront in Oakland, California
Image File
Original HTML

The Company Provides Bay Area Residents Critical Tracking for Muscle Mass, Visceral Fat, Bone Density and More Amid the Rise in Weight-Loss Medications

OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BodySpec, a leading provider of medical-grade dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans for body composition, has officially opened its newest location in downtown Oakland, California. The new storefront brings highly accessible health monitoring to the East Bay and comes at a critical time for public health, as the surging popularity of GLP-1 weight-loss medications highlights the urgent need for precise body composition and muscle mass monitoring.

1 in 8 Americans are currently using a GLP-1 medication, as medical experts increasingly warn about the hidden costs of rapid weight loss. In fact, studies have found that between 25 and 40 percent of the weight lost on GLP-1 treatments can be lean muscle mass, rather than fat.

"Muscle mass is one of the most critical indicators of longevity," said Dr. Vivek Chander, MD, 25-year emergency medicine physician and Lead Clinical Advisor of BodySpec. "Yet for decades, DEXA scans have been locked away behind clinical walls. By the time most people get access to routine scans covered by insurance, significant muscle and bone density loss have already occurred, making BodySpec an essential addition to Oakland's community."

In just 12 minutes, a BodySpec DEXA scan delivers the industry's most accurate measurement of body fat, visceral fat, lean muscle mass, and bone density – an essential health metric for women navigating perimenopause. 1 in 2 women over the age of 50 will experience a broken bone due to osteoporosis, and BodySpec's scans will offer local women the opportunity to proactively address any concerns and implement lifestyle changes before fractures or an official osteoporosis diagnosis occurs.

"A standard bathroom scale can only tell you that the number went down – it doesn't tell you what you lost," said Elaine Shi, CEO and Co-Founder of BodySpec. "As more Americans prioritize longevity, understanding their body composition is essential for their long-term health. We are committed to bringing our affordable, clinical-grade body scanning to Oakland to help Bay area residents proactively build strength, protect their future, and optimize their lifespan."

BodySpec offers these scans for less than $60 per scan, which includes a comprehensive digital dashboard and access to a conversational AI agent that can explain the results and provide actionable, personalized next steps based on their specific health goals.

About BodySpec

BodySpec is making preventative, clinical-grade body composition scans accessible to Americans nationwide. Trusted by over 350,000 clients, BodySpec operates affordable, full-body DEXA in storefront locations and mobile vans in more than 15 markets across the U.S., with several additions planned by early 2027. By providing personalized insights on muscle mass, body fat, and bone density, BodySpec empowers individuals to take control of their health, optimize their training, and track their wellness progress with clinical precision. Gunnar Optiks Launches Ojai, a Wearable That Refreshes the Eyes in Just 10 Minutes After a Day Staring at Screens
Image File

The Ojai Vision Recovery System integrates compression massage, heat, vibration, and Bluetooth® audio into blackout face mask design. Pilot study shows 94% of participants reported a high level of physical relaxation after a session.

OCEANSIDE, Calif., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- GUNNAR Optiks, the company that pioneered computer eyewear, today launched the Ojai Vision Recovery System, a wearable built to help people step away from their screens and reset. Ojai gives anyone with a screen-heavy day a simple 10-minute recovery ritual, combining air compression, soothing heat, vibration and Bluetooth audio in a foldable, full-blackout design. It is available now for $99 at GUNNAR.com and select retail partners.

GUNNAR has spent two decades building eyewear for the hours people spend in front of screens. Ojai is the company's first product built for what comes after.

"When we started GUNNAR, our mission was based on a simple idea: the world was becoming increasingly digital, but our eyes weren't designed for the amount of screen time that was coming," said Joe Croft, co-founder and CEO of GUNNAR Optiks. "For 20 years, we've focused on helping people protect their eyes and perform while they're in front of screens. Ojai is the natural next evolution of that mission."

Ojai is built around one habit: about 10 minutes at the end of a long screen day to close your eyes, disconnect and reset.

"We optimize our computers, our desks, our workouts, our schedules and almost every other part of our lives," Croft said. "But we rarely think about recovery from the hours we spend looking at screens. GUNNAR eyewear has always been about the hours you're on. Ojai is about the minutes you're off."

Features

- Air compression massage: rhythmic compression around the eye area for an immersive, relaxing massage.

- Soothing heat: gentle warmth at approximately 43°C (109°F).

- Five recovery modes: users can mix compression, heat and vibration to personalize each session.

- Bluetooth® audio: built-in wireless audio for music, podcasts, meditation or guided relaxation.

- Full blackout design: blocks ambient light and visual distractions for a true screens-off break.

- Foldable and rechargeable: adjustable fit that folds down for use at home, at the office or while traveling.

Pilot Study Results

Ahead of launch, GUNNAR ran a real-world pilot study with screen-intensive users. Participants rated how they felt before and after an Ojai session on measures including eye fatigue, dryness and irritation, pressure and tension, temple discomfort, blurry or tired vision, physical relaxation, mental refreshment and readiness to return to screens. Key findings:

- 94% reported a high level of physical relaxation after a session.

- 89% said their eyes felt more relaxed.

- Average discomfort ratings were approximately 56% lower immediately after a session, across the five eye and vision discomfort measures.

- 87% of Day 30 respondents were using Ojai in 10-minute sessions, most often after work or before bed.

Participants most often pointed to the heat, compression and vibration, with combination modes a standout. Many described using the time to disconnect and close their eyes, and one called Ojai a "daily fixture."

"What's especially encouraging is that participants didn't simply tell us they liked individual features," Croft said. "They began incorporating Ojai into their routines. That's really the vision behind the product."

Pilot study findings reflect participants' self-reported experiences before and after an Ojai session and are not clinical or medical efficacy data1.

The Missing 10 Minutes Campaign

Ojai launches alongside The Missing 10 Minutes; a new GUNNAR campaign built on the line "Perform Hard. Recover Smart." The idea is that recovery is part of performing well, not time away from it: 10 minutes, no screens, no notifications. The campaign will run across digital video, social media, creator partnerships, retail, ecommerce and experiential activations, encouraging people to "Take 10" every day.

"The future of GUNNAR is bigger than eyewear," Croft said. "Our goal is to become the company people turn to for the entire digital visual experience. Ojai is one of the most exciting products we've developed since we first introduced GUNNAR eyewear."

Pricing and Availability

The GUNNAR Ojai Vision Recovery System is available now for $99 MSRP at GUNNAR.com and select retail partners.
