MIAMI, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida International University announced the launch of the FIU Cruise Excellence Center, led by its Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. The initiative is designed to address the global cruise sector's most consequential challenges and opportunities, while establishing FIU as a global academic hub for cruise-industry research, talent development, executive education and innovation.

The announcement coincides with the inaugural meeting of the Center's Cruise Executive Advisory Board, a founding board composed of presidents, CEOs, a CFO and other senior executives from cruise lines and organizations spanning travel distribution, destinations, maritime services and other critical parts of the cruise ecosystem.

"The launch of the FIU Cruise Excellence Center signifies an historic partnership right here in Miami, the Cruise Capital of the World, and offers FIU an opportunity to engage with an industry that has enormous importance to our region and to the global economy," said Jeanette M. Nuñez, president of FIU. "The Center creates a strong nexus between expertise from across FIU with industry leadership to help develop talent, generate meaningful research, and contribute to the future of cruising."

Board members will help FIU identify high-value industry challenges and translate university knowledge into practical values for the industry, establish research priorities, strengthen academic curricula, expand experiential learning and internship opportunities, develop executive and professional education and create stronger connections among students, faculty and the global cruise community.

The Center's initial strategic priorities are to combine academic research, education and industry collaboration, along with a commitment to opening doors of opportunity for FIU students. Whether through a degree or a specialized micro-credential, the industry insights will result in preparing students for meaningful careers, developing the next generation of industry leaders and empowering them to make an impact on a global stage.

"Cruising is an extraordinarily complex global industry, and the issues shaping its future increasingly cross traditional academic boundaries," said Michael Cheng, dean of FIU's Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. "The Chaplin School will serve as the academic lead for the Center connecting the right FIU expertise and discipline across the university to the questions industry leaders bring forward resulting in more relevant research, a richer curriculum, and offering students experience working across the boundaries they will encounter in their careers."

Building a Global Cruise Research Agenda and Future Talent Pipeline

A major ambition of the FIU Cruise Excellence Center is to develop a distinctive body of independent, academically grounded research focused on the cruise industry and a talent pipeline. FIU already has an established academic foundation in cruise education, including its undergraduate Cruise Line Management track and a Master of Science in Hospitality Management with a specialization in Cruise Line Operations.

Potential research and innovation priorities include the future cruise workforce, changing consumer demand, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, environmental responsibility, crew well-being, destination and managed-tourism strategies, operating performance, logistics and supply chains, ports and destinations, guest experience, and the economic and geopolitical forces affecting global cruising.

"This is intended to be a working partnership, not an advisory board in name only," said Larry Pimentel, FIU Distinguished Cruise Executive-in-Residence and chair of the Cruise Executive Advisory Board.

"Our opportunity is bigger than creating another academic center," Pimentel added. "It is to build a resource for the global cruise industry that is relevant, independent, connected and useful — one that brings together industry experience, academic rigor and the next generation of talent."

The long-term objective is to create a sustained connection between a major research university and the global cruise industry to identify future skill requirements, strengthen curricula, expand internships and experiential learning, develop executive education and micro-credentials, and create clearer pathways between education and careers throughout the cruise ecosystem.

Tanner Winterhof's Farm4Profit Media Wins Inaugural MACA Industry Impact Award

The crop protection industry's Midwest association gave its first-ever impact award to an independent podcast company operating out of a converted Casey's General Store.

SLATER, Iowa, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mid America CropLife Association has awarded its inaugural Industry Impact of the Year Award to Farm4Profit Media, the agricultural media company Tanner Winterhof co-founded and now leads as chief executive officer. MACA President Aaron Deardorff presented the award at the association's annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 10, 2026.

According to MACA, the award recognizes an individual or group with "demonstrated, sustained impact on advancing agriculture across the Midwest through leadership, advocacy, innovation, education, public policy, communications, or industry collaboration." The association's criteria also call for a recipient recognized as "a trusted and influential voice for agriculture."

Farm4Profit Media reaches more than 400,000 followers and has generated over 111 million social media impressions, 59 million YouTube views and more than 6 million podcast downloads, according to MACA's announcement. The Farm4Profit Podcast ranks among Spotify's Top 1% of video podcasts and has featured hundreds of producers, innovators and industry leaders across more than 700 episodes.

MACA's criteria ask for reach and for trust. Tanner Winterhof came to agricultural media from agricultural banking. He spent his first 15 years reading farm financial statements for a living, as a loan officer and later a commercial banker in central Iowa, before co-founding Farm4Profit in 2014 and launching the podcast in June 2019 alongside co-hosts Corey Hillebo and David Whitaker. That background set the show's subject matter: working capital, cost per acre, interest expense and succession planning, handled as business questions rather than production ones. The team records at Studio 205, a production facility built inside a former Casey's General Store in Slater, a town of about 1,400.

"A farmer might not pull out his balance sheet at the coffee shop, but he'll sit down and talk about what worked, what didn't and what it cost him. The fact that the traditional ag industry is recognizing those conversations with an impact award tells you just how powerful this medium has become," said Tanner Winterhof, co-founder and chief executive officer, Farm4Profit Media. "This award says something bigger than just recognizing a podcast. It shows that agriculture has changed how it shares knowledge. Farmers are willing to have real conversations about money, mistakes and what's actually working, and those conversations are helping other farms make better decisions."

Much of the company's 2026 output came from the road rather than the studio. Its winter tour covered the U.S. Custom Harvesters convention, the New York Corn & Soybean Growers annual meeting, CattleCon in Nashville, the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville and Commodity Classic in San Antonio, including an interview with the USDA undersecretary for farm production and conservation. The company has also used its audience for disaster response, raising $48,412 for Iowa and Nebraska tornado relief in 2024 and reorienting its coverage after the 2020 derecho that moved through central Iowa.

The Industry Impact of the Year Award is new this year, and Farm4Profit Media is its first recipient. MACA is a non-profit association of crop protection industry members across 13 Midwestern states, working on crop production research, health and safety, and public education.

About Farm4Profit Media

Farm4Profit Media is an agricultural media company headquartered in Slater, Iowa. Founded in 2014 and created by farmers for farmers, the company produces the Farm4Profit Podcast along with video, live events and marketing partnerships for agribusiness. Its programming focuses on farm profitability and business management. The company operates from Studio 205, its production facility in Slater. More at www.farm4profit.com.

In HelloNation, Physical Therapy Expert Dr. J. Rashid Explains Why Prehab & Post-Surgical Rehab Are Both Critical for Full Recovery

TAYLOR, Mich., Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A HelloNation feature highlights expert insight from Dr. J. Rashid, Doctor of Physical Therapy and clinic director at Family Rehab Care, serving patients in Taylor, MI, and across the Downriver region. The article explains why recovery does not begin or end with surgery alone—and why both pre-operative and post-operative rehab are essential for lasting outcomes.

The article notes that many patients feel better after surgery and assume rehab is optional. In reality, surgery corrects structure, but physical therapy restores strength, mobility, stability, and function. Skipping rehab often leads to stiffness, weakness, compensation patterns, and avoidable setbacks months later.

The article highlights the growing importance of pre-operative rehab, or prehab, which helps patients improve strength and mobility before surgery while educating them on recovery expectations and prognosis. Patients who complete prehab often recover more efficiently after surgery and demonstrate better long-term outcomes.

Post-operative rehab focuses on restoring movement, rebuilding strength, and retraining coordination. Without it, muscles weaken quickly and the body compensates, shifting stress to other joints. Over time, these patterns can lead to new pain or injury.

The HelloNation feature also emphasizes the role of functional training in recovery. Rehab must reflect real-world demands, including job-specific tasks and physical workloads. For patients returning to demanding occupations, work hardening programs and Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) help determine readiness and reduce reinjury risk.

In Downriver Michigan, rehab is viewed as a full continuum—from prehab, through post-operative recovery, to functional reintegration. The article explains that completing each phase improves confidence, durability, and long-term function.

The article concludes that skipping rehab may feel harmless in the moment, but the hidden costs often surface later. A structured, evidence-based rehab plan gives patients the best chance at lasting recovery and a confident return to the activities that matter most.

The HelloNation article, The Hidden Costs of Skipping Rehab After Surgery, features insights from Dr. J. Rashid, Physical Therapy Expert of Taylor, MI.

Craftsman's Choice Moves Headquarters to Maple Grove, Plans New Exterior Remodeling Showroom
Image File
Original HTML

Minnesota exterior remodeling contractor will open a new showroom featuring James Hardie siding, Marvin windows and doors, GAF roofing and TimberTech decking ahead of the 2027 spring remodeling season.

MAPLE GROVE, Minn., Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Craftsman's Choice Inc., a Minnesota exterior remodeling contractor serving Twin Cities homeowners since 1998, has relocated its headquarters to 10550 County Road 81 in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where the company is building a new exterior remodeling showroom scheduled for completion in mid-February 2027.

The new location provides additional space for the Craftsman's Choice team and a showroom designed to help homeowners plan complete exterior renovations. When completed, the showroom will feature James Hardie® siding and trim, Marvin® windows and doors, GAF® roofing systems, TimberTech® decking and railing, and other exterior components.

"Our goal is to create a space where homeowners can visualize the entire exterior of their home before making these decisions," said Ben Juncker, owner and president of Craftsman's Choice. "A small siding, roofing or decking sample can only tell you so much. We want homeowners to see different siding profiles, colors, trim details, roofing, windows and decking together and get a much better sense of how the finished project will look."

A New Exterior Remodeling Showroom for the Twin Cities

Rather than relying primarily on traditional sample racks, the Maple Grove showroom is being designed around full-size exterior displays. Individual sections will demonstrate different siding profiles, colors and trim combinations, along with roofing, window, decking, railing, soffit and fascia options.

A large display area will also allow Craftsman's Choice project consultants to review project photographs, proposals and exterior design concepts with homeowners while having physical products and samples nearby.

Construction of the showroom is underway, with completion targeted for mid-February 2027, ahead of the spring remodeling season.

More Than 25 Years of James Hardie Siding Experience

Craftsman's Choice was founded in Minnesota in 1998 by experienced siding installers. The company became Minnesota's original James Hardie Preferred Remodeler in 2000 and today is a James Hardie Elite Alliance Contractor.

James Hardie siding remains a primary focus of the company, including complete siding replacements incorporating lap siding, board and batten, shakes, trim, soffit and fascia. Craftsman's Choice also installs Marvin windows and doors, GAF roofing and TimberTech decking.

From its new Maple Grove headquarters, Craftsman's Choice will continue serving homeowners throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Maple Grove location also serves as the company's Minnesota headquarters as Craftsman's Choice expands its operations in southeastern Wisconsin and the greater Milwaukee area.

Homeowners can learn more about Craftsman's Choice, view completed exterior remodeling projects and plan a future showroom visit at craftsmanschoice.com.

Controller Malia M. Cohen Publishes 2025 Higher Education Payroll Data
Image File

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- State Controller Malia M. Cohen published the 2025 self-reported payroll data for University of California (UC) institutions and California Community College Districts (CCD) on the Government Compensation in California website. The published data covers 451,244 positions, more than $34 billion in wages, and over $6 billion in retirement and health contributions. Total compensation exceeded $40.1 billion.

All 10 UC campuses and the Office of the President submitted complete reports. Their data covers 357,167 positions, more than $29.2 billion in wages, and nearly $4.5 billion in retirement and health contributions, for total compensation of over $33.7 billion. UC institutions have maintained a 100 percent reporting rate since joining the program as voluntary participants in reporting year 2013.

Thirty-six of the state's 73 CCD submitted complete reports. Their published data covers 94,077 positions, more than $4.8 billion in wages, and over $1.5 billion in retirement and health contributions, for total compensation of more than $6.3 billion. Twenty-six districts did not file a report, and eleven submitted incomplete reports.

"Our public colleges and universities open doors to opportunity, and Californians deserve to know how public dollars support that work," said Controller Cohen. "I appreciate the University of California's continued commitment to complete reporting and encourage every community college district to do the same. When every institution participates, the public can see the full investment in the people who keep our campuses running and help our students succeed."

Among the UC campuses, UCLA reported the most positions at 74,519, followed by UC San Diego at 54,598. Of the CCD with published data, Los Angeles Community College District reported the most positions at 11,182, followed by Los Rios Community College District at 7,154.

The UC data also shows that 42 of the 50 highest-paid employees worked in the medical field. Among the 15 highest-paid employees, nine worked in medicine and six in athletics. The average wages of the 10 highest-paid UC employees rose by more than 17 percent over five years, from $3.14 million in 2021 to $3.69 million in 2025.

California law requires cities, counties, and special districts to report compensation data annually to the State Controller's Office (SCO). The SCO also publishes payroll data for state departments and California State University and solicits voluntary reports from other public entities, including UC institutions and CCD.

The Government Compensation in California website allows the public to search pay and benefit information by employer and job title, view results by region, and export data and custom reports.

As the chief fiscal officer of the fourth-largest economy in the world, California State Controller Malia M. Cohen independently oversees and manages the state's financial resources with integrity and transparency to build trust. Controller Cohen is responsible for accountability and disbursement of the state's financial resources. She has independent auditing authority over government agencies that spend state funds. The Controller is a member of numerous financing authorities, and fiscal and financial oversight entities including the Franchise Tax Board. She also serves on the boards for the nation's two largest public pension funds. NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bronstein, Gewirtz & Grossman, LLC, a nationally recognized investor-rights law firm, announces that a class action lawsuit has been filed against Fluence Energy, Inc (NASDAQ: FLNC) and certain of its officers.

This lawsuit seeks to recover damages against Defendants for alleged violations of the federal securities laws on behalf of all persons and entities that purchased or otherwise acquired Fluence Energy securities between November 24, 2025 and September 16, 2026, both dates inclusive (the "Class Period"). Such investors are encouraged to join this case by visiting the firm's site: bgandg.com/cases/fluence-energy-inc-flnc-class_action_lawsuit.

Fluence Energy Case Details

The Complaint alleges that throughout the Class Period, Defendants made materially false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that:

(1) Fluence Energy's ability to deliver its backlog and recognize the revenue underlying its fiscal 2026 guidance depended on new contract manufacturing facilities, including facilities that were not completed, not operational, and/or not capable of producing at the volumes the guidance assumed;

(2) the corrective measures Fluence Energy had implemented to address production problems at its contract manufacturers were not remediating those problems, which persisted and extended to Fluence Energy's new facilities;

(3) as a result, a material portion of the backlog that defendants represented as "securing" or "covering" Fluence Energy's fiscal 2026 revenue guidance were likely to be delivered and recognized in fiscal 2026; and

(4) as a result of the foregoing, defendants' positive statements about Fluence Energy's business, operations, and prospects were materially misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis.
