“AEP serves millions of customers who depend on the company every day,” said David Marriott. “Delivering consistently across a large footprint requires operational discipline, strong teams, trusted relationships and an unwavering commitment to service. I look forward to working with the Board and management team as AEP continues to serve customers and communities across some of the country’s most dynamic regions.”

Meyers was appointed Executive Chairman of Equinix in June 2024 after serving as President and CEO from 2018 to 2024. “The digital economy depends on reliable electric infrastructure, and AEP has the footprint, transmission expertise and operating discipline to help meet those needs,” said Meyers. “I am excited to join the Board at such an important time for AEP and contribute to the company’s work building the critical infrastructure needed for the future.”

With these appointments, AEP’s Board will comprise 12 directors, 11 of whom are independent.

AEP Reports Second-Quarter 2026 Earnings, Raises Full-Year Guidance
Image File
Original HTML

- Raises full-year 2026 operating earnings guidance to $6.25 to $6.55 per share

- Supports affordability with up to $16 billion in expected cost offsets from load growth and $1.4 billion in expected customer savings from federal loan guarantees and grants

- Expands new load additions to 69 gigawatts (GW) through 2030

- Secures approximately 13 GW of gas-fired turbine capacity; additional 10 GW under evaluation to meet growing demand

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 30, 2026 – American Electric Power (Nasdaq: AEP) today reported second-quarter 2026 GAAP earnings of $713 million or $1.31 per share, compared with GAAP earnings of $1,226 million or $2.29 per share in second-quarter 2025. Operating earnings for second-quarter 2026 were $742 million or $1.36 per share, compared with operating earnings of $766 million or $1.43 per share in second-quarter 2025. See the detailed GAAP to operating earnings reconciliation at the end of this press release.

AEP is raising its full-year 2026 operating earnings guidance to $6.25 to $6.55 per share from its previous guidance range of $6.15 to $6.45 per share to reflect strong performance through the first half of the year and expected results for the remainder of the year. The company also reaffirmed its annual operating earnings growth rate of 7% to 9% through 2030, with an expected operating earnings compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of greater than 9%, based on the 2025 guidance midpoint and supported by AEP’s five-year, $78 billion capital plan. Additionally, AEP has line of sight to incremental capital investments of more than $10 billion, including the fuel cell project in Wyoming, the Piketon transmission opportunity in Ohio, and incremental generation in AEP’s footprint.

"While I recognize our operating earnings are below last year at this stage due to the 2025 transmission minority interest sale and the timing of tax-related items, I am highly confident in our robust business performance – so much so that we are raising 2026 full-year guidance to $6.25 to $6.55 per share," said Bill Fehrman, AEP chairman, president and chief executive officer.

Affordability and Regulatory Progress

Affordability remains central to AEP’s customer-focused growth strategy. As new large load customers come online, they can help spread the fixed costs across a broader customer base. AEP has identified up to $16 billion in expected cost offsets for residential customers in its vertically integrated utilities that are supported by fully executed take-or-pay electric service agreements.

As an additional affordability measure, AEP continues to utilize grants and low-cost loans from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to drive customer savings. Most recently, AEP Texas secured a DOE loan for up to $3.3 billion to support nearly 100 transmission projects, which is expected to save customers $685 million in interest costs over the life of the loan.

With this financing, AEP has now secured approximately $5 billion in DOE loans across its portfolio, supporting nearly $1 billion in projected customer savings through lower interest costs. Combined with almost $400 million in awarded DOE grants, this DOE funding is expected to deliver nearly $1.4 billion in estimated customer benefits over the life of the loans and grants.

AEP’s operating companies continued to deliver productive regulatory outcomes during the second quarter. These included approval of a distribution base rate decrease for customers in Ohio, approval to add 1.3 GW of generation resources for Oklahoma customers, and completion of a $1.4 billion securitization that allowed Appalachian Power to file its lowest increase in a base rate request in Virginia in nearly 30 years. Virginia also approved a large load tariff in the second quarter, bringing the total number of AEP’s states with approved large load tariffs to five, with three additional state filings pending approval.

"As electricity demand accelerates, we have seen firsthand how growth can lower costs and improve affordability for existing customers. That is why we have led efforts to implement large load tariffs and structure contracts to ensure growth helps pay for growth," said Fehrman. "By leveraging our industry-leading transmission network, securing the resources needed to support reliability and future demand, and working with our regulators and policymakers to drive down costs for customers, we expect to strengthen our communities and create long-term value for all of our stakeholders."

Accelerating Demand Drives Infrastructure Investment

AEP continues to see robust customer demand across its system and is making investments that support reliability, affordability and long-term value for customers, communities and shareholders. The company added an incremental six GW of signed load agreements during the second quarter, primarily in Texas, bringing total contracted load growth through 2030 to 69 GW. The agreements include a diverse set of customers, including hyperscalers, data centers and industrials.

Generation Strategy Advances to Support Growing Customer Base

Significant new generation is required to meet customer energy needs, and AEP has been an early mover to secure the resources needed to serve growing demand reliably.

During the second quarter, AEP secured three additional GW of gas-fired turbine capacity, bringing its total secured capacity to approximately 13 GW for potential deployment through 2031. AEP is also evaluating opportunities to obtain up to 10 GW of additional turbine capacity through 2035. This proactive approach provides greater visibility and flexibility in AEP’s generation planning and reinforces its ability to serve accelerating load growth across the footprint.

"AEP is demonstrating the value of our scale, industry expertise and disciplined focus on execution to benefit our customers," said Fehrman. "We are building partnerships and making strategic investments in generation and transmission that support reliability and affordability while helping customers and communities capture the benefits of generational energy demand growth."

Hoosiers Expected To See Savings as I&M Advances One of the Nation's Largest Rate Reduction Plans
Image File
Original HTML

FORT WAYNE, Ind., August 26, 2026 – The state of Indiana has called on utilities to take action to make energy more affordable, and Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is meeting that call with a plan to deliver savings and stability for customers.

I&M has unveiled one of the nation’s largest base rate reduction plans, which includes approximately $59 million in 2027 bill reductions expected to help a residential customer in Indiana using 1,000 kWh a month save an estimated $100 per year. The plan also provides stability for Indiana residential customers by proposing to freeze all rates on their monthly bill for three consecutive years.

The planned reduction comes as rates for I&M’s Indiana customers have been reduced twice in the first six months of this year, demonstrating I&M’s continued focus on managing costs and delivering value to customers as Indiana’s economy and electricity demand grow. The plan is made possible thanks to load growth and increased revenue from large customers including data centers.

I&M anticipates a decision from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) on the proposed plan in June 2027. Under this timeline, customers are expected to see savings reflected on their monthly bill starting in summer 2027.

“As Indiana continues to experience unprecedented growth, we are taking action to help our customers benefit from that growth through lower costs, enhanced value and continued investments to strengthen our system,” said Maryam S. Brown, I&M president and chief operating officer. “We are proud to join forces with state leaders to advance economic development and make energy more affordable – while continuing to provide system reliability upgrades.”

Indiana Governor Mike Braun said, “From day one, my administration has focused on making energy more affordable for Hoosiers. Economic growth should not come at the expense of existing customers. Indiana Michigan Power’s proposal shows what’s possible when we create the right environment for investment while keeping Hoosier families front and center. Lower utility bills, long-term rate certainty and continued investment in our electric system are exactly the kinds of results we want to deliver for Indiana.”

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is headquartered in Fort Wayne, and its approximately 2,000 employees serve more than 600,000 customers. More than 85% of its energy delivered in 2024 was emission-free. I&M has at its availability various sources of generation including 2,278 MW of nuclear generation in Michigan, 450 MW of purchased wind generation from Indiana, more than 22 MW of hydro generation in both states and approximately 35 MW of large-scale solar generation in both states. The company’s generation portfolio also includes 1,497 MW of coal-fueled generation.

Kentucky Power, TeraWulf Finalize Expanded Agreement Providing for $100 Million in Customer Benefits
Image File
Original HTML

ASHLAND, Kentucky – Oct. 5, 2026 – Kentucky Power has finalized an amended agreement that would double its contracted electric demand with TeraWulf Inc. (Nasdaq: WULF) while delivering significant long-term benefits for customers and communities across eastern Kentucky.

If approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission, the amended agreement is expected to provide $100 million in winter bill credits funded by TeraWulf for Kentucky Power's residential customers over the first 10 years of the contract. For a typical residential customer, the bill credits could amount to approximately $25 per month during the winter heating season, with credits beginning in 2029.

The expanded agreement would increase contracted electric demand at TeraWulf’s Muskie Data campus in Grayson, Kentucky, from 500 megawatts (MW) to 1 gigawatt (GW). It also advances planned delivery of the second 500-MW phase from 2030 to 2029, subject to Commission approval and Kentucky Power’s construction schedule. The campus’s planned expansion is expected to generate new economic activity through infrastructure investment, construction activity, permanent jobs and new tax revenue for local communities.

These investments will help support the continued modernization of Kentucky Power’s system. In addition to paying all applicable service charges, TeraWulf has agreed to pay the estimated financing costs associated with construction of Kentucky Power's planned 760-MW combined-cycle generation facility at Big Sandy, helping ensure the costs associated with serving increased demand are not shifted to existing customers.

“At Kentucky Power, we are working to bring new businesses and economic opportunity to eastern Kentucky, creating meaningful benefits for the customers and communities we serve,” said Cindy Wiseman, president and chief operating officer of Kentucky Power. “By providing a decade’s worth of direct residential bill credits, supporting critical energy infrastructure investments and helping ensure the costs associated with new demand are paid by the customers driving that growth, this agreement demonstrates how economic development can create lasting value for our customers and communities.”

“This agreement shows how large-scale investment can support both economic growth and meaningful benefits for existing utility customers,” said Paul Prager, chairman and chief executive officer of TeraWulf. “Kentucky Power has been a strong partner in advancing Muskie’s development. Expanding contracted power to 1 GW and bringing the second phase forward to 2029 positions us to meet strong customer demand and bring lasting investment to eastern Kentucky.”

The agreement also includes collateral requirements and other financial protections designed to safeguard Kentucky Power customers. Kentucky Power plans to file the amended contract and seek related regulatory approvals later this year.

Toyota Launches New NFL Campaign Championing the Future of Football
Original HTML

Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, Eli Manning star in campaign that showcases Toyota’s support of NFL FLAG, brings fans closer to the game through new experiences and celebrates the passion driving football forward

PLANO, Texas (Sept. 3, 2026) – Toyota Motor North America today launched a new NFL campaign celebrating the relentless passion that drives football forward at every level. As the Official Automotive Partner of the NFL, Toyota’s season-long campaign is inspired by the fans, athletes and communities whose commitment to the game never lets up.

Toyota’s commitment extends well beyond NFL Kickoff and into communities where football begins. Through nearly $4 million in donations from Toyota and their dealers to NFL FLAG, Toyota has helped reach more than 418,000 youth athletes nationwide. As youth flag participation has grown more than 50% over the last six years, including a 60% increase in girls’ high school participation during the 2024-25 season compared to the prior year (Source: NFHS), Toyota and its dealer network continue expanding access to the game through local leagues, clinics and community initiatives.

Toyota will also bring fans closer to the game they love through the return of Toyota Gameday Giveaways. Throughout the season, fans will have opportunities to win a trip to Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles, a Toyota vehicle of their choice during Toyotathon, and tickets to any 2027 NFL regular season game, among others.

“Every player, every fan and every community has something that drives them,” said Dedra DeLilli, vice president, marketing communications at Toyota. “Football requires commitment and sacrifice from those who love it. At Toyota, we’re inspired by those who keep showing up, keep believing and keep driving players, fans, and communities forward. That’s why we’re committed to helping grow the game for the next generation.”

New Campaign Driven by the Light Inside Us

Toyota’s new campaign is built around a simple belief: every football journey begins with a light inside that can be passed along to the next generation.

Whether it’s a young athlete chasing a dream, a parent cheering from the sidelines or an NFL star remembering where it all began, Toyota’s newest NFL campaign celebrates the passion that keeps football moving forward.

In “The Game Won’t Stop,” Team Toyota athletes Eli Manning and Brock Purdy join young NFL FLAG athletes in a celebration of football’s endless energy. As day turns to night, Toyota vehicles illuminate a flag game that never stops; symbolizing the passion that drives players to keep competing, improving and inspiring the next generation.

“Let It Shine” follows Team Toyota athlete Jordan Love as he reflects on the moments that shaped his football journey. As he drives to an NFL FLAG clinic, memories from his own path unfold beside him, reminding viewers that every athlete carries a light sparked by those who believed in them first. The story comes full circle as Love encourages a young FLAG player to “light ‘em up,” passing that passion on to the next generation.

The ads, shot in Los Angeles, feature youth talent alongside NFL FLAG players from the city. Eli Manning’s Ten Till Productions was a production partner on the ads. The ads are set to roll out starting on Wednesday, September 9, on NBC’s broadcast of NFL Kickoff.

Lighting the Way for the Next Generation

Toyota’s investment in football extends far beyond the professional game. Toyota’s ongoing support for NFL FLAG reflects the company’s belief that when more young people have the opportunity to play, entire communities become stronger.

That commitment comes to life again during Super Bowl LXI week, when the Toyota Glow Up Classic shines a national spotlight on girls high school flag athletes competing on one of football’s biggest stages. Played under UV lights with glowing uniforms and game elements, the Toyota Glow Up Classic showcases the athletes shaping the future of the sport.

Toyota will then leave a lasting community mark by elevating a youth field, giving young players an improved place to play long after the Super Bowl LXI stage leaves Los Angeles.

Toyota Gameday Giveaways Return Bigger Than Ever

Fan favorite Toyota Gameday Giveaways are back for a third season, giving fans more chances to win unforgettable football experiences all year long.

Throughout the entire season, from Week 1 through Super Bowl LXI, this free-to-play sweepstakes gives fans the chance to win prizes by playing along in real time as they watch “Sunday Night Football” on NBC. Each week of the regular season and during select NFL Playoff Games on NBC broadcasts, fans can visit Toyota.com/NFL to take on game-day challenges, such as predicting a fourth quarter rushing or receiving touchdown. If their pick hits, they are entered for a chance to win. Make sure to tune in during Halftime of NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

New this year, fans can unlock additional prize opportunities by building hot streaks with five, ten or every weekly challenge picked correctly in a row. For the fans who correctly pick every week, they will be entered to win tickets to Super Bowl LXII in 2028 in Atlanta. Each week, fans can look forward to prizes that bring them closer to the game.

Toyota Autograph Badges – A Symbol of Latinos’ Unstoppable Football Fandom

For many Latinos, football serves as a source of community, identity, and passion shared across generations. This season, Toyota is giving Latino football fans a new way to showcase their passion for the game with the launch of exclusive autograph badges inspired by Team Toyota athletes. The campaign debuts with New England Patriots cornerback, Christian Gonzalez, whose signature will be transformed into a chrome-inspired badge designed to complement any Toyota vehicle. More than an autograph, the badge serves as a symbol of the resilience, pride, and unwavering dedication that fans carry with them throughout the season.

The Toyota autograph badges celebrate that connection by bringing fans closer to the athletes who inspire them both on and off the field. Released in limited quantities throughout the season, fans will have the opportunity to claim a badge featuring their favorite Toyota athlete’s signature, allowing them to carry a piece of the game wherever they go. Each badge represents the unstoppable love for football that lives far beyond kickoff and stays with fans every mile of the journey.

Make sure to follow Toyota Latino on social media for more information.

Toyotathon Returns with Football at the Center

As America’s favorite year-end sales event returns, Toyotathon will once again intersect with football in new and unexpected ways.

Building on the momentum of last season’s fan-favorite moments including a limited edition Jordan Love Toyotathon trading card and artist Sisqó reimagining his iconic “Thong Song” into a parody track, Toyota will unveil additional NFL-inspired surprises throughout the season. The goal is to bring fans closer to the game by bringing together football culture, Team Toyota athletes and the exciting magic of Toyotathon. More details will be announced later this season.

From Classrooms to Festival Stages: Toyota and Music Will Empower the Next Generation of Artists
Original HTML

Toyota Donates $75,000 and Provides Students with Real-World Festival Experiences

PLANO, Texas (Sept. 9, 2026) – Music has the power to inspire creativity, build confidence and strengthen communities. Through its continued partnership with Music Will, the nation’s largest nonprofit music education program, Toyota is helping bring those opportunities to more students through a $75,000 donation and a series of unforgettable real-world experiences that connect them beyond the classroom.

This year, Toyota and Music Will partnered through the Driving Music Forward initiative, a purpose-driven program designed to support music education, uplift diverse voices and inspire the next generation of artists through authentic, real-world opportunities. The initiative brings together Toyota’s music platform, nonprofit partnerships and festival activations under a unified effort focused on community impact through music.

“Organizations like Music Will demonstrate the powerful role music plays in education and community engagement,” said Paul Doleshal, general manager, motorsports and sponsorships, Toyota. “Through this initiative, we’re connecting purpose-driven storytelling with tangible action, creating opportunities that allow students to perform and grow. Whether it’s a classroom experience or a performance on a festival stage, we are proud to support programs that make a measurable difference in young people’s lives.”

The $75,000 donation will support music education programs in communities connected to Music Will and Toyota’s music activations, helping ensure students have access to the instruments, resources and opportunities needed to develop their talents. Toyota’s partnership with Music Will extends beyond financial support by creating meaningful experiences that help students see what’s possible through music.

“As we enter year two of our partnership, Toyota’s continued commitment is making a profound impact on modern music programs in public school classrooms nationwide,” said Janice Polizzotto, Chief Growth Officer, Music Will. “By pairing this ongoing support with once-in-a-lifetime, real-world festival opportunities, we’re giving students an unforgettable platform for creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Together, we’re helping youth thrive by showing them that their passion and potential truly matter.”

Throughout the year, students participating in Music Will programs experienced some of the nation’s biggest festivals, performing on the Toyota Music Den stage, including Sueños Music Festival in Chicago, Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, Lollapalooza in Chicago and Head In The Clouds in Los Angeles. These performances gave students invaluable exposure to live audiences and the unique experience of participating in nationally recognized music festivals.

By providing students the opportunity to showcase their talent, Toyota is helping bridge the gap between education and opportunity while celebrating the cultural expression that music makes possible. The initiative aligns with Toyota’s broader commitment to creating positive community impact through programs that empower future generations and foster meaningful connections through shared experiences.

About Music Will

Music Will’s mission is to transform lives by transforming music education. The program’s roots go back to 1996, when a classroom teacher in East Palo Alto, CA, began offering free guitar lessons to his students to fill the gap left by the absence of a music program at his school. By 2030, Music Will aims to reach 11 million students annually through its nationally scaled programming.

Toyota’s GR Supra Returns as Official Pace Car for the 2026 NASA Championships
Original HTML

GR Supra to Lead the Field at Historic Sebring International Raceway

PLANO, Texas (Sept. 14, 2026) — The GR Supra will once again serve as the Official Pace Car for the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Championships, returning to lead the field at one of America’s most iconic road racing venues. The 20th annual NASA Championships will take place September 24–27, 2026, at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida.

Finished in bold GAZOO Racing red, white and black livery, the GR Supra will pace the nation’s top amateur road racers as they compete for NASA National Championship titles. Drivers representing 15 NASA regions from across the country will battle in multiple racing classes during four days of competition, culminating in championship finales on Sunday.

“Toyota is proud to continue supporting grassroots motorsports and the passionate enthusiasts who make it thrive,” said Mike Tripp, group vice president, Toyota Marketing. “We’re excited to return the GR Supra as the Official Pace Car for the 2026 NASA Championships and to be part of this milestone 20th anniversary event at the legendary Sebring International Raceway.”

One of the most celebrated circuits in North American motorsports, Sebring International Raceway has challenged drivers since 1950. Built on the runways of a former Army Air Force training base, the 3.74-mile circuit is renowned for its fast straightaways, technical corners and famously (or infamously) bumpy racing surface. Home to the world-famous 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race, the historic venue is a bucket list destination for race enthusiasts, providing a fitting backdrop for NASA’s premier championship event.

“The NASA Championships bring together the very best amateur racers from across the country, and Sebring is one of the most demanding tracks they will ever face,” said Jeremy Croiset, chief executive officer of NASA. “Toyota has been an outstanding partner in helping introduce enthusiasts to performance driving, and we’re thrilled to welcome the GR Supra back as the Official Pace Car for this year’s Championships.”

The GR Supra pace car underscores GAZOO Racing’s ongoing commitment to driving enthusiasts. Through Toyota’s unique partnership with NASA, every new GR sports car owner receives a complimentary one-year NASA membership, including a free High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) track day. Introduced in 2019 for GR Supra owners, the benefit has since expanded to include all GR sports car buyers, helping thousands of enthusiasts experience performance driving in a safe, controlled environment.

As the final model year of the fifth-generation Toyota Supra, the 2026 GR Supra continues to deliver track-worthy performance with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing 382 horsepower and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. Available in 3.0, 3.0 Premium and exclusive MkV Final Edition grades, the GR Supra remains one of the most capable and engaging sports cars on the road and on tracks across the world.

Fans unable to attend the NASA Championships in person can watch the action live throughout the weekend via the NASA livestream at DriveNASA.com.

Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda Inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame
Image File

DETROIT (Sept. 24, 2026) — In recognition of his global automotive leadership that has brought passion, performance and purpose into modern mobility, Akio Toyoda, chairman of the board, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame last night in Detroit.

The honor recognizes leaders, innovators and visionaries whose work has shaped the global automotive and mobility industry.

“Like my grandfather and father before me, I am deeply moved by this honor, and I humbly promise to continue to earn it every day in support of this industry and this automotive family that I am so grateful to be a part of,” said Toyoda during his acceptance speech. “Together there is nothing we can’t imagine, nothing we can’t create, and nothing we can’t overcome.”

Toyoda became president of TMC in 2009, assuming leadership during one of the most challenging periods in the company’s history. During that time, he led efforts to strengthen quality controls, rebuild trust in the Toyota brand and reinforce the company’s business foundation.

Toyoda also accelerated decision-making and advanced a region-led management structure by listening closely to customers, dealers, suppliers, employees and other stakeholders. Under his leadership, “making ever-better cars” became central to Toyota’s management philosophy.

As a master driver, Toyoda has further positioned motorsports as a proving ground for developing both people and vehicles. These efforts have contributed to stronger products and built a culture in which team members are encouraged to take on challenges from a genchi genbutsu, or “go and see,” perspective.

Akio Toyoda is the fourth member of the Toyoda family inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame, joining his grandfather, Kiichiro; his father, Shoichiro; and Eiji Toyoda, his grandfather’s cousin. Fellow inductee Taiichi Ohno, widely regarded as the father of the Toyota Production System, is also among Toyota’s honorees.

About the Automotive Hall of Fame

The Automotive Hall of Fame is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that honors individuals whose achievements have significantly influenced the automotive and mobility industry. Its honorees include automaker executives, inventors, engineers, designers, suppliers, dealers, motorsports figures, journalists, educators and others who have helped shape the industry.

The organization traces its roots to Automobile Old Timers, founded in New York in October 1939 to preserve the memory and accomplishments of the pioneers of the early automotive industry. It was renamed Automotive Old Timers in 1957, conducted its first formal inductions in 1967, adopted its current name in 1982 and opened its current facility in Dearborn, Michigan, in 1997.

Since 1939, the organization has honored nearly 800 men and women through its awards programs, and more than 300 individuals and organizations have received its highest honor, induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame. The inaugural 1967 class included Henry Ford, Walter P. Chrysler, Charles Kettering and Alfred P. Sloan.

Plant marks milestone with $90,000 in donations

BUFFALO, W.Va. (Sept. 24, 2026) – Toyota West Virginia is celebrating 30 years of manufacturing excellence, innovation, economic growth and powerful community impact.

“This is a time to celebrate our history and look toward our next chapter,” said David Rosier, president of Toyota West Virginia. “Senator Jay Rockefeller, a driving force in bringing the facility to Putnam County, said during our groundbreaking ceremony that he believed our plant would grow. We have done just that. Our success is a direct result of our team members. Our future is bright because our team is smart, capable and determined. We are proud to say we are busier than ever.”

Governor Patrick Morrisey joined team members and community leaders at the plant to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its groundbreaking. During the event, Morrisey declared September 24 as “Toyota West Virginia Day.”

“Thirty years ago, Toyota made a bet on West Virginia and our people, and that bet has paid off,” Governor Morrisey said. “Today, this global automotive leader employs more than 2,000 West Virginians who are building some of the most advanced automotive technology in the world right here in Buffalo. Toyota has continued to invest, grow, and create opportunities in the Mountain State, and we’re proud to celebrate 30 years of partnership and an even brighter future ahead.”

Driven to Give Back

Over the past 30 years, Toyota has donated more than $11 million to local nonprofits and community organizations.

At Thursday’s celebration, Toyota continued that legacy by presenting three local nonprofits with $30,000 donations, totaling $90,000. Awardees include:

- Golden Girl Group Home, a group home for teenage girls who have experienced abuse, neglect or loss of a guardian and cannot live in their natural home;

- Mission West Virginia’s Bridge Program, which supports children in foster or kinship care as they graduate from high school and pursue skilled trades or attend technical school

- The Comeback Club of Putnam County, which provides training for adults re-entering the workforce

Toyota West Virginia assembles both engines and drivetrain components for Toyota’s North American operations and is the only Toyota plant in North America that assembles hybrid transaxles. The plant represents a $3.3 billion investment and employs more than 2,000 people.
