MAASTRICHT, Netherlands, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Secondary Immunodeficiencies (SIDs) represent a significant and frequently under-recognized healthcare challenge. Their clinical relevance has increased with the expanding use of immunosuppressive and biologic therapies, advances in the treatment of hematological malignancies, and the growing number of patients exposed to conditions associated with acquired immune dysfunction.

To address this situation, physicians, patient advocates, researchers and industry representatives gathering at ESID 2026 are calling for greater attention to Secondary Immunodeficiencies and the challenges faced by those living with these conditions.

Despite advances in understanding these disorders, SIDs are often identified late or remain under-diagnosed. Delayed recognition may lead to recurrent and severe infections, hospitalization, impaired quality of life, and other preventable complications. Improving awareness, promoting timely diagnosis, and ensuring consistent standards of care remain important priorities for optimizing patient outcomes.

Johan Prevot, Executive Director of the International Patient Organization for Primary Immunodeficiencies (IPOPI), said: "Secondary Immunodeficiencies are receiving growing attention across the healthcare community, yet significant differences remain in awareness, diagnosis and patient support between countries. Notably, a significant subset of these SID patients actually has an underlying, previously undiagnosed, PID. Ensuring they are recognized and adequately supported is becoming increasingly important."

"Awareness of Secondary Immunodeficiencies has improved in recent years," stated Dr. Silvia Sánchez-Ramón, Head of Immunology Department, La Paz University Hospital, Madrid, "but significant gaps remain. Earlier recognition, stronger collaboration among specialties and wider adoption of evidence-based practices are essential to ensure patients are diagnosed earlier and receive appropriate care."

"Progress in clinical management of Secondary Immunodeficiencies depends on strong multi-disciplinary collaborations as well as connections between science, clinical practice and patient experience," explained Gorana Dasic, Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Head at Kedrion Biopharma. "Through research collaborations, patient-focused projects and contributions in clinical and scientific advancements shared at scientific meetings, Kedrion is committed to helping build the networks and knowledge that can improve earlier diagnosis and more informed care."

At ESID 2026, Kedrion will present two posters: one on safety data relating to an Immunoglobulin therapy and another on the MAPPA survey initiative and its international expansion. Our exhibition booth will welcome clinicians and other healthcare professionals.

The MAPPA survey, developed by AIP APS (Italian Association for Primary Immunodeficiencies) in collaboration with Kedrion, collects real-world insights into the experiences of people living with Primary Immunodeficiencies across Europe. The project reflects the long-term collaboration between AIP and Kedrion, which works to build and nurture relationships with patient organizations and support initiatives that amplify the patient voice. During ESID, the project will present preliminary findings from its expansion from Italy to Portugal, Spain and Turkey, providing new evidence on patient pathways, diagnostic journeys and unmet needs.

Preliminary results highlight the ongoing impact of diagnostic delays, with more than half of respondents receiving a diagnosis after the age of 18 and 28% reporting permanent damage at the time of diagnosis.

Alessandro Segato, President, AIP APS, said: "Giving patients a voice means recognizing the value of their real-life experiences as an essential source of knowledge. MAPPA brings together data collected directly from people living with Primary Immunodeficiencies, through the collaboration of patient organizations across Europe. By turning these experiences into evidence, we can identify shared needs and challenges that may otherwise remain unseen. These insights can help strengthen awareness and contribute to improving diagnosis, care and support for people living with Primary Immunodeficiencies at a European level."

For Kedrion, advancing knowledge is an essential step toward addressing the evolving global challenges of Primary and Secondary Immunodeficiencies.

TRI Introduces AI-driven Risk Assessment and Connected Oversight in Latest OPRA Release
Image File
Original HTML

CAMBRIDGE, England, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- TRI has announced the latest release of OPRA, its risk-based quality management (RBQM) platform. The release introduces a connected approach to RBQM that takes teams from protocol analysis to live oversight without breaking the chain of evidence between them.

As clinical research moves towards more proportionate, risk-based quality management, teams need more than a static risk assessment. They need to know which risks matter, how they are being controlled and what happened when a signal required attention. OPRA 26.2 brings that context into one platform.

AI that provides a faster, more relevant starting point

RiskIQ, a new AI agent in OPRA's Protocol Insights module, analyzes an uploaded protocol and generates a first-draft assessment of Critical-to-Quality factors, risks and their relationships. It uses each organization's own CtQ types and risk categories, helping teams move beyond generic templates.

Risk managers can edit, accept or reject every suggestion before promoting the result into OPRA as their initial risk assessment. No AI-generated content enters a live study automatically, and every decision is audit-logged and exportable.

RiskIQ is also available as a standalone application that can be used with any RBQM platform

From identified risk to measurable control

OPRA 26.2 turns the risk assessment into an active part of study oversight. Each risk links to the Centralized Monitoring controls used to manage it, so risk owners can see when performance falls outside tolerance. Review-driven actions retain a clear link to the evidence behind them, while Controls Automation creates routine observations automatically.

Collaboration with accountability built in

Risk managers can invite cross-functional colleagues to review and comment on CtQs, risks and suggestions in OPRA, whilst retaining ownership of the final assessment. Teams no longer need to take the process offline into spreadsheets.

Focused subject data review

Organizations can now define their own review types, such as safety, eligibility or endpoint reviews, and specify the data each one covers. Change logs show reviewers exactly what has changed since their last review. Every review is tracked and summarized, so medical monitors and CRAs can pick up where they left off and demonstrate compliance.OPRA 26.2 is available from 14th October 2026. Learn more at www.tritrials.com.

About TRI

TRI has spent 13 years helping sponsors and CROs deliver better-quality clinical trials through Risk-Based Quality Management. More than 450 global clinical trials have run on OPRA, TRI's RBQM platform, and more than half of TRI's people have worked at a sponsor or a CRO before joining. That experience shapes everything TRI builds

Solidion's patented anode technology and PEAK UPS design target the space, lifespan and cost demands of AI-scale infrastructure.

DALLAS, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Solidion Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: STI) ("Solidion Technology" or "the Company"), an advanced battery technology solutions provider, today reaffirmed its commitment to address energy storage for artificial intelligence and data center infrastructure, centered on its PEAK Series uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system.

As AI workloads increase the power density of data centers, operators face growing pressure on the systems that keep facilities running during grid disruptions. Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) batteries take up floor space that could otherwise hold AI servers and additional computing equipment, and they require periodic replacement.

- Reliability and longevity: The 5500 cell is designed to last up to three times longer than conventional backup systems, reducing replacement cycles and maintenance. Solidion is focused on advancing technologies intended to support demanding data center operating environments.

- Materials-level innovation: Solidion's portfolio of +385 patents covering silicon anodes, graphene and next generation battery chemistries, together with its pilot production facility in Dayton, Ohio, gives the Company a U.S. based foundation for developing data center energy storage.

"AI infrastructure represents a compelling market for advanced energy storage," said Jaymes Winters, Chairman and CEO of Solidion. "Our focus is on translating our technology into practical commercial solutions that address real customer demand. We are not betting on which chips win; we are focused on supplying something every data center needs."

Solidion intends to continue pursuing opportunities to apply its battery technologies directly to end users.

About Solidion Technology, Inc.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas with pilot production facilities in Dayton, Ohio, Solidion's (NASDAQ: STI) core business includes manufacturing of battery materials and components, as well as development and production of next-generation batteries for energy storage systems, including UPS systems serving the artificial intelligence (AI) data center market and electric vehicles for ground, aerospace, and sea transportation. Prices provide a new benchmark for the emerging renewable hydrogen market

LONDON, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Global energy and commodity price reporting agency Argus has launched the first ever ticket price assessments for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) used in Germany's road transport sector. The assessments provide a new benchmark for the emerging renewable hydrogen market.

The new assessments reflect the value of RFNBO hydrogen and products made from it, including e-methanol and e-methane. These fuels can be used to meet Germany's greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction rules. Germany has introduced a dedicated RFNBO quota for road transport, creating a mandated market for renewable hydrogen and related products and increasing the need for transparent, independent price references.

The price assessments are relevant for companies across a much wider area than Germany alone. Germany is expected to become a major importer of renewable hydrogen, so transparent price signals for its regulated transport market can help inform investment decisions and new supply projects internationally.

Road fuel suppliers who must meet the quota, as well as hydrogen suppliers, need independent RFNBO ticket price assessments. They can use these prices as reference points in negotiations and potentially to embed prices in supply contracts. The new assessments build on Argus' established coverage of Germany's GHG quota market and connect RFNBO values with the compliance market where the fuels are used. They also complement Argus' existing suite of calculated hydrogen production costs for a range of locations and production pathways.

Argus Media chairman and chief executive Adrian Binks said: "These new assessments bring much-needed transparency to a market that is attracting significant interest from hydrogen producers, suppliers and investors around the world. Germany's mandated RFNBO quota creates a clear link between renewable hydrogen and the road transport compliance market. Our assessments provide an independent reference that will help market participants to understand and negotiate that value."

The RFNBO assessments are published in Argus O.M.R. Fuels, Argus Biofuels and Argus Hydrogen and Future Fuels, making them available to customers in the fuels, biofuels and hydrogen markets.

New Foundation brings industry stakeholders together to fund Bazel maintainers, community development and critical ecosystem infrastructure

Summary

- The Linux Foundation launched the BUILD Foundation to provide the leadership and sustained investment needed to tackle the Bazel ecosystem's largest challenges, giving organizations that use Bazel a way to formally join and help direct that investment.

- Thousands of companies commercially depend on Bazel, driving the need for coordinated industry investment in critical maintainers, community rulesets, tooling and infrastructure.

- The Foundation will support ecosystem growth and long-term sustainability through improved documentation, training and certification, developer advocacy, stronger tooling integrations and software supply chain security.

AMSTERDAM, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, today announced the operational launch of the BUILD Foundation with initial members ASML, Canva, Datadog, EngFlow, Figma and Spotify. The Foundation gives the Bazel ecosystem the leadership and sustained investment needed to take on challenges no single organization can solve alone.

The BUILD Foundation launches at a point of inflection for the software industry's reliance on scalable build tooling. As engineering organizations grow, their ability to ship code depends on a build system that scales with them – developer velocity, infrastructure reliability, and the cost of build and test processes all require systems that can handle the increasing load. For a growing number of companies, that system is Bazel.

Originally open sourced by Google in 2015, Bazel is now used at scale by thousands of companies across sectors like automotive, enterprise software, finance, and more. As Bazel adoption has grown, so has the ecosystem around it. The Bazel Central Registry distributes maintainership of language rulesets, libraries, and tooling that compose a thriving landscape of shared build infrastructure. The BUILD Foundation brings together industry stakeholders to formalize that common investment and ensure the ecosystem's long-term viability, security, and independent development.

"Bazel has become critical infrastructure for engineering teams around the world," said Jim Zemlin, CEO of the Linux Foundation. "The BUILD Foundation provides a neutral home where organizations can invest together in its maintainers, security and long-term sustainability."

Initial Foundation investments will target the top challenges identified in the 2025 Bazel User Survey Results. Key priorities include staffing dedicated technical writing for documentation, funding maintainers for bazel-contrib repositories, launching training and certification programs, improving IDE integration, and strengthening supply chain security through release attestations in the Bazel Central Registry.

Organizations interested in becoming Members of the BUILD Foundation can visit http://buildfoundation.dev/.

Supporting Quotes

"Building software at ASML's scale takes more than one tool. We rely on Bazel alongside several other build systems, and we have benefited for years from the open source communities behind them. The BUILD Foundation lets us move from being a user to being a partner: funding maintainers, improving documentation and tooling, and helping set direction for build engineering across many open source projects, not only Bazel. That is how critical open source infrastructure should be sustained."

– Emil Waijers, Principal Engineer, ASML

"As AI has multiplied developer velocity at Datadog, Bazel remains central to ensuring our build/test times stay stable even as our codebases multiply in size. The BUILD Foundation will provide investment and direction in this vital ecosystem and we look forward to participating in its success, both for Datadog and the entire build at scale community."

– Mike Sherov, Senior Engineering Manager, Datadog

"When I worked on Bazel at Google and co-created the first BazelCon in 2017, Bazel had users at hundreds of companies and no place for them to set priorities together. The BUILD Foundation is that place, which is important for alignment of those who are deeply invested in Bazel. It brings leadership and investment in the experience, maintainability, and larger directional evolution of everything that surrounds Bazel and the build at scale ecosystem."

– Helen Altshuler, CEO and co-founder of EngFlow

"Bazel has helped Figma measurably improve our build and test times and engineering velocity. Bazel was one of the very few build systems that could give every Figma engineer fast, reliably correct, single-command builds and tests across TypeScript, C++, Rust, Go, Ruby, and Python, with one dependency graph shared between CI and developer environments."

– John Firebaugh, Software Engineer, Figma

"At Spotify, we invest significant resources in continuously improving iteration speed for all our engineers. Bazel, for example, has become foundational to how Spotify engineers efficiently build and test software across platforms and engineering disciplines. We're excited to see the community come together through the BUILD Foundation to invest in solving common problems, provide long-term sustainability for those solutions, and help ensure the ecosystem continues to thrive for years to come."

– Patrick Balestra, Staff Engineer in Platform Developer Experience, Spotify

QA FAIL (need review): TARGET contains inaccurate context/paraphrase: it describes ASML as a 'chipmaker' and misstates the Datadog quote by saying AI-driven developer velocity multiplies the company's codebases, while the SOURCE says AI has multiplied developer velocity and codebases multiply in size.

LYNGE, Denmark, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Widex, the leading brand in natural sound and part of WSA, today announced the availability of Widex Allure AI RIC with Clarity Boost in 15 additional countries, including the U.S. and major European markets. Building on strong demand and positive feedback from hearing care professionals, the expansion brings Widex's unique approach to artificial intelligence to more wearers worldwide – preserving Widex's signature natural sound for everyday listening while giving wearers direct access to added clarity in noise when they need it.

First introduced in May, Widex Allure AI RIC reflects a shift in how AI is applied in hearing technology. It maintains the Widex foundation of natural sound while delivering on-demand AI support through a dedicated co-processor that wearers can activate with a single tap when they want added support in noisy situations.

Alongside the expansion, Widex is reintroducing Zen Therapy in the latest Widex Compass Cloud release, making its established tinnitus support available to hearing care professionals and their Widex Allure patients.

"The reception to Allure AI RIC has been exceptional. Hearing care professionals have responded enthusiastically to our approach, and strong demand has reinforced the opportunity to bring it to more markets," said Ngozi Amobi, Head of Widex. "Natural sound is at the heart of the Widex experience. Clarity Boost builds on that foundation, putting added AI support in the wearer's hands when they want it. We're excited for more hearing care professionals and their patients to experience the value of that approach firsthand."

Natural Sound as the Foundation, On-Demand AI for Clarity in Noise

At its foundation, the Widex Allure AI delivers a natural balance of focus and awareness, powered by the W1 chip and Precision Hearing Technology.

When listening environments become more complex, the Clarity Boost program activates a dedicated AI co-processor, giving wearers direct control over enhanced noise management. Using an audio-specific neural network designed to preserve sound quality, Clarity Boost reduces noise while maintaining awareness of surrounding sounds. A single tap activates Clarity Boost, putting wearers in control of when they access additional support.

Comparative research shows that 5x more wearers preferred Allure AI RIC with Clarity Boost over key competitors with AI-based denoising, in real world listening situations.1 Clarity Boost also delivers up to 20% better speech understanding and up to 13% less listening effort compared with key competitors with AI-based denoising, measured in a conversation with two alternating talkers.2

Zen Therapy Expands Tinnitus Support in Widex Compass Cloud

The latest Widex Compass Cloud release reintroduces integrated Zen Therapy support. Through Zen listening programs in Compass Cloud, support in the Widex Allure app, and online counseling tools, Widex Tinnitus Solutions make it easier for hearing care professionals to personalize tinnitus support and for wearers to incorporate it into everyday life.

"Widex has long been a leader in tinnitus management, and Zen Therapy has been one of the most sought-after additions to Compass Cloud," concluded Amobi. "Our HCP partners know the value of Zen and have been eager to bring it to their Allure patients. With Zen now integrated into Compass Cloud and Allure AI RIC reaching more markets, we're giving more hearing care professionals the tools to deliver what sets Widex apart – natural sound, AI support when wearers want it, and personalized tinnitus care."

Additional Zen features will be introduced in upcoming Compass Cloud releases, adding fitting flexibility and further personalization.

Widex Allure AI RIC is coming to the U.S. beginning in October 2026. Hearing care professionals should contact their local Widex sales manager for specific availability dates.

EvoDECO® Next: Sidel brings new freedom and material efficiency to roll-fed labelling

Sidel has introduced EvoDECO® Next, its next-generation roll-fed labelling solution, combining high-performance production with greater decoration freedom and significantly lower material consumption.

LONDON, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- "EvoDECO Next rethinks what is possible with roll-fed labelling. Producers no longer need to choose between industrial efficiency, material reduction and impactful decoration. By enabling partial labels on a simplified roll-fed architecture, we can help customers use less material, create new brand opportunities and maintain the performance their production lines demand," said Anne Philippe Lafon, Product Manager – Labelling, at Sidel.

Less material, greater brand impact

Depending on the decoration selected, Sidel says partial labelling can reduce label surface by up to 75% compared with a conventional wraparound label. The maximum figure is based on its illustrated 90° partial-label configuration, while a 180° configuration reduces label surface by 50%.

For high-volume producers, partial labelling can deliver significant savings. In one Sidel example, moving from a full wraparound label to a 90° partial label reduced BOPP consumption by 208.4 tonnes per year, cut associated CO₂ emissions by 346 tonnes and generated approximately €723,000 in annual raw material savings.[1]

Integrated technology to simplify high-performance production

EvoDECO Next has been engineered as an integrated platform, rather than an existing roll-fed machine adapted for shorter labels. Its architecture combines Cutter 2.0, Smart Buffer, Smart Camera and High-Speed changeover parts, with feeding, cutting, transfer and control designed to work seamlessly together.

At the heart of the new partial-labelling capability is the new cutting system, positioned directly on the transfer drum. The rotary cutting device handles shorter labels using two blades cutting faster at high speed.

The Smart Buffer is designed to absorb reel changes without variation in production speed. Its lean configuration requires no additional footprint or changes to the standard film path and allows the splicing operation to be managed at the nominal speed, helping protect overall production efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Smart Camera enables reference-mark-free label management. Removing the conventional reference mark and quiet zone increases raw-material and label flexibility, while creating further opportunities for material savings. Dedicated software supports autocorrection, improved auto-homing and enhanced diagnostics.

To find out more, including how businesses can access this support, visit the Sidel website.

¹ Calculation assumptions: Based on a 61,000 bottles-per-hour production line producing approximately 459 million bottles annually. Label surface area reduced from 20,160 mm² to 5,040 mm² per bottle by moving from a full wraparound label to a 90° partial label configuration. CO₂ and cost savings are based on Sidel modelling assumptions and may vary depending on product, material specification and operating conditions.
