Exclusive relationship pairs Sentric Specialty's coverage for food and beverage companies with NAS's real-world product safety expertise to support clients before and after an event

NOVATO, Calif., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentric Specialty today announced an exclusive strategic relationship with Neumann Advisory Services, LLC (NAS), a nationally recognized product safety and risk management advisory firm. Through this relationship, Sentric Specialty's eligible policyholders will receive exclusive access to NAS's specialized expertise in product safety, regulatory compliance, food safety, recall preparedness, crisis management and response, and enterprise risk reduction.

The relationship reflects a shared commitment to helping food and beverage manufacturers proactively identify, assess, and mitigate product-related risks before they become costly incidents, insurance claims, or public safety risks. By combining industry-leading underwriting capabilities with practical operational and regulatory expertise, Sentric Specialty is expanding the value it delivers well beyond traditional insurance coverage.

"Insurance is most valuable when it helps prevent losses, not simply respond to them," said Florian Beerli, CEO of Sentric Specialty. "This exclusive relationship allows us to offer our policyholders access to specialized expertise that helps strengthen risk management programs, improve operational resilience, and reduce both the frequency and severity of product-related events."

"Organizations today face increasingly complex product safety, regulatory, and supply chain risks," said Melanie Neumann, President of NAS. "Together with Sentric Specialty, we are creating a unique offering that gives policyholders access to practical, real-world guidance from experienced industry professionals before, during, and after critical events."

Unlike traditional insurance programs that primarily respond after a loss has occurred, this exclusive relationship integrates proactive risk management with insurance protection. Eligible policyholders gain access to experienced advisors who help identify vulnerabilities, strengthen preventive controls, improve recall readiness, and enhance organizational resilience, helping reduce operational disruptions, protect brand reputation, and lower the overall cost of risk. The result is a more comprehensive approach to product safety risk management that helps organizations prevent incidents whenever possible and respond more effectively when they occur. NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kalohexis, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company harnessing the melanocortin system to shape the next era of metabolic disease care starting with obesity and cancer cachexia, today announced the appointment of Garry Menzel, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors.

"Garry is a seasoned global healthcare executive with a very strong track record in advising and leading successful life sciences companies," said Russell Potterfield, Chief Executive Officer of Kalohexis. He also co-founded Black Diamond Therapeutics, a Fierce 15-winning clinical-stage precision oncology company and continues to serve on its Board of Directors where he is Chair of the Audit Committee. Prior executive leadership roles included serving as Chief Financial Officer of Fortune 500 company DaVita HealthCare Partners and as Chief Operating Officer of Regulus Therapeutics, which was sold to Novartis for $1.7 billion. "Kalohexis has the opportunity to transform the treatment of obesity with 710GO by enabling healthier, more durable weight loss in general obesity without the limitations seen with incretins, such as loss of lean muscle mass and weight rebound following treatment cessation," said Dr. Menzel. "I am passionate about developing novel therapies and look forward to working with Kalohexis as the team advances its melanocortin-based pipeline, which also includes mifomelatide for cancer cachexia, where there are currently no FDA-approved treatment options."

The next generation in skin resurfacing technology is available to Australian health care practitioners beginning September 1, 2026

LAVAL, QC, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bausch Health Companies Inc. (NYSE: BHC)(TSX: BHC), a global, diversified pharmaceutical company, and its aesthetics business, Solta Medical, today announced the availability of Fraxel FTX® in Australia, expanding access to its latest skin resurfacing technology to Australian health care practitioners (HCPs) beginning September 1, 2026.

Building on more than 20 years of innovation in skin resurfacing, Fraxel FTX represents the next generation of the Fraxel® platform. Designed to support treatment precision, workflow efficiency and patient comfort, Fraxel FTX brings together trusted technology with meaningful refinements for modern aesthetic practice.

"Fraxel FTX builds on the trusted technology of the Fraxel platform, combining proven performance with enhancements designed to support today's aesthetic practices," said Jiny Kim, Senior Vice President, Solta Medical, Bausch Health. "We are pleased to make this technology available in Australia and continue supporting practitioners with solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of their patients."

Fraxel is one of the highly recognized treatments in skin resurfacing and may be used to address a range of common skin concerns, including the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lentigos and ephelides, acne scars and surgical scars, dyschromia including melasma, and actinic keratosis. With Fraxel FTX, Solta Medical continues to build on that clinical heritage with a system designed to support consistent treatment delivery across superficial and deeper skin layers.

"Fraxel has long been recognized by practitioners for its precision, versatility and clinical heritage," said Alistair McKeon, General Manager, Solta, ANZ & SEA. "With Fraxel FTX, we are bringing Australian healthcare practitioners an updated platform that builds on that trusted foundation while supporting ease of use, treatment consistency and patient comfort in everyday practice."

Key features and benefits of Fraxel FTX

Two wavelengths, one intelligent approach: Fraxel FTX uses dual wavelengths to enable targeted treatment at different tissue depths. The 1927 nanometer wavelength targets the epidermal layer, while the 1550 nanometer wavelength penetrates into the deeper dermis while also treating the epidermis.

Precision treatment delivery: As the tip moves over the skin, the laser treats a fraction of the skin at a time, creating a large number of microscopic treatment zones in a dot-like pattern. By leaving surrounding tissue intact, the system is designed to support rapid healing.

Intelligent Optical Tracking™ with AccuTRAC®: The patented optical system calculates hand motion during treatment to help support proper skin contact, dosimetry and uniform delivery, while making laser firing more efficient.

Redesigned ergonomic handpiece: The handpiece features a 20% reduction in circumference and weight, and is designed to improve field of view, treatment precision and ease of handling.

Integrated cooling designed for patient comfort: Cooling is routed through the handpiece and tip directly to the skin, with airflow directed at the treatment area.

Refreshed treatment interface: The guided user interface is designed to facilitate treatment settings, total and estimated energy visibility, handpiece speed, and color change between wavelengths.

Modern console design: Fraxel FTX features an updated console with an integrated arm and cable assembly, in line with the Solta product family.

Fraxel FTX is a highly versatile and recognized treatment in aesthetics, designed to address five common skin concerns contributing to skin health: the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lentigos and ephelides, acne scars and surgical scars, dyschromia including melasma, and actinic keratosis.

Solta Medical supports health care practitioners with more than technology alone. In Australia and New Zealand, that includes clinical education, practical training and ongoing business support designed to help practitioners build confidence in treatment delivery and support long-term practice growth.

CITGO Strengthens Lake Charles Refinery's Future with $310 Million Project

Investment supports long-term refinery viability, regional economic stability and reliable U.S. fuel supply

HOUSTON, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CITGO Petroleum Corporation is advancing its Lake Charles Refinery Depentanizer Project, a $310 million investment that supports the long-term competitiveness of one of the nation's largest and most complex refineries.

The project will add new facilities and equipment to improve naphtha upgrading capabilities at the Lake Charles Refinery by converting lower-value streams into higher-value gasoline blend components. Once complete, the project is expected to increase refinery flexibility and enhance CITGO's ability to meet continued U.S. demand for reliable transportation fuels.

"The Depentanizer Project reflects CITGO's commitment to disciplined investments that enhance the strength and resilience of our refining system," said Edgar Rincon, CITGO Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "It also reinforces the strategic importance of the Lake Charles Refinery to our company, our customers and the broader U.S. energy market."

For Southwest Louisiana, the investment represents more than an operational upgrade. It reinforces the long-term future of the Lake Charles Refinery, supports the refinery's existing workforce and creates additional contract work during construction. The project also extends opportunities for local suppliers and service providers that are part of the region's energy economy.

"For generations, the Lake Charles Refinery has helped power Southwest Louisiana's economy and identity," said Sterling Neblett, CITGO Lake Charles Refinery Vice President and General Manager. "This project reflects our confidence in the refinery's future and our commitment to supporting the people, businesses and communities connected to its success."

The Lake Charles Refinery has deep roots in Louisiana. The facility began operations in 1944, originally supporting the country's need for aviation fuel during World War II. Over the decades, it has grown into CITGO's largest refinery and a cornerstone of the company's refining network, producing gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, petrochemicals and other products used by consumers and industries across the country.

Located along the Calcasieu Ship Channel, the refinery is strategically positioned to receive and process a diverse slate of crude oils and move refined products to key markets through pipelines, marine access and other logistics channels. The Depentanizer Project builds on that strong asset base by enhancing Lake Charles' ability to process domestic light crude and produce additional gasoline components.

The project is expected to be operational in 2029. CITGO will continue to work with employees, contractors and local stakeholders as engineering, construction and commissioning activities advance.

About CITGO

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is a recognized leader in the refining industry and operates under the well-known CITGO brand. CITGO owns and operates three refineries located in Lake Charles, La.; Lemont, Ill.; and Corpus Christi, Texas, and wholly and/or jointly owns 43 active terminals, eight pipelines and three lubricants blending and packaging plants. With approximately 3,300 employees and a combined crude capacity of approximately 829,000 barrels-per-day (bpd), CITGO ranks as the fifth largest and is one of the most complex independent refiners in the United States. CITGO transports and markets transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products, and supplies a network of approximately 4,000 locally owned and independently operated branded retail outlets. CITGO Petroleum Corporation is owned by CITGO Holding, Inc.

Ascend Analytics Surpasses 5 GW of Battery Storage Assets Managed with SmartBidder

Ascend is the largest independent provider of bid optimization to the U.S. battery storage market, with more than 30 customers and assets spanning ERCOT, CAISO and PJM

BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ascend Analytics ("Ascend"), the leading provider of market intelligence and analytics solutions for the power industry, today announced that its SmartBidder™ platform now optimizes more than 5.2 gigawatts (GW) of operating battery energy storage capacity in U.S. wholesale power markets. The milestone reflects live, commercially operating assets under active management and further establishes Ascend as the largest independent provider of bid optimization services to the U.S. storage market.

The operating portfolio spans three markets and more than 30 customers, with approximately 4 GW under management in ERCOT, 1 GW in CAISO and 200 megawatts (MW) in PJM. Ascend crossed the 5 GW threshold in the second quarter of 2026 with the onboarding of assets for California Community Power, a Joint Power Agency, and San Diego Community Power, a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA), that have contracted storage capacity to serve loads they manage directly or on behalf of their members.

"Five gigawatts is a significant milestone and tells part of the story. What is equally impressive is the breadth of assets behind that number. SmartBidder optimizes everything from 3-megawatt batteries to 300-megawatt batteries, one-hour to eight-hour durations, standalone, hybrid and resources co-located with wind and solar facilities, operating in three ISOs under unique market rules," said Michael Huisenga, Managing Director, Bid Optimization at Ascend Analytics. "Load-serving entities, in particular, are taking on market exposure with a new asset class they may not have managed before. Leveraging the experience of the SmartBidder solution and our team of experts to deploy customized, risk-constrained, automated bidding strategies gives them the tools to achieve their portfolio objectives."

Longer-duration storage is a growing share of Ascend's portfolio, with SmartBidder managing one of the first eight-hour duration batteries to reach commercial operation in CAISO, as well as one of the first four-hour duration batteries to come online in ERCOT. Ascend has also been an early mover in PJM, where it has optimized storage for more than two years and now manages 200 MW of operating capacity. Most of the operating storage fleet in PJM are short duration (1hr) batteries that were deployed to provide frequency regulation service only. Ascend is one of very few providers running bid optimization for longer-duration resources (2-4hrs) that provide frequency regulation, reserves, and energy arbitrage services, while adapting the bidding algorithms to successive market rule changes along the way.

"Storage is becoming the balancing resource for the U.S. power system, and the economics of every one of these assets come down to how well it is bid into the market," said Matt Tormollen, Chief Executive Officer of Ascend Analytics. "Ascend's forecasts sit at the foundation of more than $50 billion in project financing assessments. Managing more than 5 gigawatts of operating storage means we also see how those assets perform hour by hour, in real markets, under real conditions. That lifecycle, from long-term valuation through to real-time dispatch, is why utilities and power producers increasingly choose Ascend to help navigate rapidly shifting power markets."

SmartBidder combines probabilistic short-term price forecasting with configurable opportunity cost-based bid optimization in one seamless automated solution, allowing storage operators to capture value across day-ahead and real-time markets for energy and ancillary services, while managing state of charge, degradation and contractual constraints.

PLANO, Texas, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ribbon Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: RBBN), a global leader in real-time communications technology, IP routing, and optical networking solutions, today announced the expansion of its critical infrastructure portfolio. The portfolio is designed to help utilities modernize increasingly complex operational networks while maintaining the reliability, security and deterministic performance required for essential services. Ribbon's experience spans hundreds of thousands of deployed network elements across the world, supporting some of the industry's most complex networks.

Utilities face growing pressure to modernize the grid, integrate distributed energy resources, improve reliability and strengthen cybersecurity. Meeting these requirements demands communications networks that support both legacy operational technologies and next-generation digital applications. Ribbon's market-leading critical infrastructure portfolio enables utilities to evolve confidently and at their own pace while preserving operational continuity and protecting mission-critical services.

"Utilities must modernize their networks, strengthen cyber resilience and support new digital grid initiatives without disrupting core operations," said Sam Bucci, EVP and COO at Ribbon. "Our expanded portfolio enables them to bridge legacy and next-generation requirements on a single, modern platform."

The new NPT 1022M and NPT 2104 build on the proven capabilities of existing platforms including the NPT 1012D and NPT 2714. Combined with Ribbon's IP rNOS routing software, optical networking portfolio and Muse multilayer automation platform (MAP), these technologies further strengthen Ribbon's ability to support the converged IT/OT communications networks that underpin modern utility operations.

Designed to address the demanding requirements of utility network modernization, Ribbon's solutions support teleprotection, SCADA, operational voice, always-on OT operations, deterministic packet transport (MPLS-TP, SR-TE), scalable IP/MPLS networking and class D timing for precise frequency and time synchronization across the grid.

These capabilities enable utilities to introduce advanced monitoring, automation, video, distributed energy resource management and smart grid analytics while modernizing their communications infrastructure without compromising operational continuity.

Ribbon's robust features includes:

Muse, which delivers critical infrastructure-focused automation and AI-enabled capabilities that simplify deployment, operations and management.

Advanced circuit emulation legacy for 64 kbit/s PCM services alongside advanced 100GbE and 400GbE interfaces

Built-in quantum-safe security and MACsec

IEC 61850 compliance and IEEE 1613 class B certification

Fully integrated IPoDWDM

"These innovations provide a strong foundation for utilities transitioning from TDM to IP-MPLS and segment routing architectures while preserving the reliability and performance essential to their operations," Mr. Bucci added. "They enable utilities to support both legacy and modern services on a common architecture while maintaining operational continuity."

SmartConnect and Benepicks Unite to Eliminate the ICHRA "Medicare Cliff"

Bridging the gap between ICHRA and Medicare: Two industry leaders combine tax-free health allowances and zero-cost advocacy to combat rising healthcare costs for the aging workforce.

The Problem: Standard ICHRA platforms lack Medicare integration, leaving aging workers to navigate complex transitions alone while HR teams face administrative gridlock.

The Solution: SmartConnect's "Medicare Intelligence Layer" is now embedded into Benepicks' human-centered ICHRA platform, providing real-time, licensed agent support.

The Impact: Employees unlock zero-cost Medicare advocacy, lower deductibles, and richer coverage, while organizations eliminate HR headaches and average a 15% reduction in healthcare spending according to recent data.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. and SEATTLE, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SmartConnect and Benepicks today announced a nationwide partnership to eliminate one of the most critical friction points of ICHRA platforms: the Medicare transition for 65+ employees.

As rising healthcare costs accelerate employer adoption of ICHRAs, a major structural gap has emerged. Many platforms are built for individual Marketplace insurance, leaving Medicare-eligible employees to navigate complex decisions on their own. This gap often results in costly healthcare mistakes for workers, administrative paralysis for HR departments, and client friction for benefits brokers and ICHRA administrators.

The ICHRA-Medicare gap is officially closed, setting a new industry standard of support for America's aging workforce.

This partnership bridges the gap by embedding SmartConnect's dedicated "Medicare Intelligence Layer" directly into Benepicks' human-centered ICHRA platform.

"The old way is broken," said Andrew Lydens, CEO of Benepicks. "Handing a 65-year-old a stack of Medicare mail and a deadline is a poor way to thank someone for twenty years of work. Now every Medicare-eligible employee gets a real person to call and tax-free dollars that help pay for the plan they choose."

Medicare-eligible employees on the Benepicks platform are now seamlessly introduced to SmartConnect's purpose-built ecosystem. Employees receive personalized, unbiased Medicare consultations from agents licensed in all 50 states. Consultations evaluate each individual's specific doctors, prescriptions, and financial goals.

With broad visibility across Medicare plan options, SmartConnect handles the enrollment details, transition logistics, and ongoing lifetime policy advocacy, ensuring the employee feels supported from day one and has a Medicare partner for life. Employees can then use their tax-free Benepicks ICHRA allowance toward their selected plan premiums and HR has a trusted partner for this complex topic.

The alliance combines two health benefit heavyweights with deep national reach who expect to transform the healthcare transition experience for thousands of aging workers while securing predictable, optimized costs for their employers.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be trailblazing the intersection of Medicare and ICHRA alongside Benepicks," said Michael Celi, General Manager & SVP of SmartConnect. "By integrating our Medicare solution directly with Benepicks' innovative experience, we are delivering a market-leading solution that optimizes the employer's benefits strategy while giving employees the ultimate peace of mind."

Beyond operational ease, the financial benefits are substantial. Transitioning 65+ employees to tailored Medicare plans via an ICHRA allowance routinely unlocks lower deductibles and richer coverage for workers.

Employees override AI they don't understand, and it's challenging organizations seeking AI return

The number one reason employees override AI in the field? When AI can't explain a decision it's made.

Most organizations still lack the data foundation needed to make AI trustworthy and profitable.

CARY, N.C., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A new SAS report with research insights by IDC uncovers what's powering the organizations winning the race to profit from their AI investments: embracing trustworthy AI measures. Organizations applying trustworthy AI practices were 15 times more likely to report strong return on investment (ROI) from their AI projects.

Orgs with trustworthy AI practices are 15 times more likely to see strong ROI, per a new SAS report.

Post this

Organizations embracing trustworthy AI measures are winning the race to achieve AI ROI.

As identified in the second annual Data and AI Impact Report: The New Economics of Trust, organizations with the strongest governance, data quality and auditability practices – a comparatively small market segment – consistently outperformed peers, reporting at least double the ROI from AI deployments. Fewer than one in 20 trustworthy AI 'laggard' organizations reported the same.

"When AI works, it's incredibly impactful," said Bryan Harris, CTO at SAS. "However, it is well documented that state-of-the-art agents can have error rates that exceed 25% on complex tasks1 – which is unacceptable in high-stakes decision-making. In order to achieve accuracy and repeatability, organizations must embed domain expertise into agentic workflows, while keeping people at the center of governance and oversight. Organizations that do this successfully will close the trust gap and gain a competitive advantage in the market with AI."

"As AI becomes more autonomous, organizations face a new challenge: maintaining confidence in systems people don't fully understand," said Chris Marshall, Vice President at IDC. "Our findings show that stronger oversight, explainability, accountability and data foundations are becoming prerequisites for scaling AI successfully."

The report's findings span three themes:

AI that can't explain itself is a major business liability

Researchers found that at many organizations, employees are increasingly hesitant to rely on systems that may or may not be able to offer correct output or explain how AI arrived at a final decision. As AI gains autonomy, this liability grows, making explainability crucial for success.

The report also explored a major hurdle to success in AI adoption: when employees' lack of trust in AI decisions leads them to override and make manual corrections. This only perpetuates the AI trustworthiness deficit, and can cost organizations time, productivity and profitability. When AI decision-making is only as good as the data it's based on, building a strong data foundation becomes pivotal for organizations looking to reduce override rates.

Key findings:

97.2% of users override AI-generated recommendations in at least some cases.

The number one reason employees decided to override AI, regardless of whether its output was considered correct, was when the AI could not provide an explanation behind its decision.

Trust falls from 76% for generative AI to 66% for agentic AI, highlighting growing concerns as AI systems gain more autonomy.

Trustworthy AI practices drive business success

The report exposes a widening ROI divide between organizations that prioritize trustworthy AI practices and those that do not. The findings suggest organizations gaining the most value from AI are not necessarily deploying different technologies but instead managing AI differently.

Key findings:

Organizations investing in trustworthy AI measures are 15 times more likely to report strong or high ROI on their AI projects (62% vs. 4%).

Organizations with the strongest trustworthy AI practices realize 1.85 times greater gains across 13 different business outcomes, including revenue growth, cost savings and customer experience.

85% of these AI leaders with trustworthy practices are increasing their investment in this area by more than 10% this year, actively widening the performance gap.

Too many organizations are losing time and money to weak data foundations

Most organizations are deploying AI on severely underdeveloped or outdated data and data infrastructure. Without a strong data foundation to support crucial transparency and explainability, organizations struggle to govern AI effectively and realize value.

Key findings:

Only 17.5% of enterprises have a fully optimized data infrastructure mature enough for the demands of agentic AI, which negatively impacts performance.

Organizations with an optimized data foundation are four times more likely to expect strong ROI from AI projects, and six times more likely to mandate the data quality and explainability controls necessary to build trust.

Take a deeper dive

The findings are based on a global survey of 2,699 decision-makers with knowledge of or influence over their company's data and AI initiatives. The survey was conducted across 28 countries and four focus industries: banking, insurance, life sciences and the public sector. The report highlights industry use cases and findings that demonstrate how leaders in each of these industries around the globe are approaching AI.

Key findings:

Banking leaders are going beyond compliance, treating robust AI governance as a competitive advantage and operational necessity – 85% of AI leader banks have established governance frameworks, compared to just 29% of laggards.

Forty-one percent of public sector leaders are increasing trustworthy AI investment by more than 20% in the year ahead, which is as fast as the most ambitious organizations across any industry.

23% of life sciences organizations have scaled AI company-wide – the highest of any industry.

Explore study findings and access the full report at sas.com/ai-impact.

What makes AI trustworthy?

Trustworthy AI is artificial intelligence designed to be reliable, fair, secure, up to regulatory standards, and able to clearly show how it arrived at a decision. Users and decision-makers at all levels within an organization must be able to hold an AI system to a pre-determined chain of accountability for incorrect or missing AI output. Any AI system must also be governed and proven to be in compliance with clear rules.

What makes an organization a trustworthy AI leader?

Within the study, organizations were scored out of 100 against five dimensions of trustworthy AI. The report's trustworthy AI leaders were organizations with an average total score of 80 or higher.

Each organization was scored across the following five trustworthy AI criteria.

Data quality and governance.

Model governance and oversight.

Explainability and fairness.

Responsible AI policy.

Audit and accountability.
