Veteran Wealth Management Executive Will Lead Technology Strategy Focused on Integration, AI and Creating a Unified Advisor Experience

ATLANTA, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Merit Financial Advisors ("Merit"), a Georgia-based financial advisory firm specializing in financial planning and wealth management solutions for high-net-worth individuals and families and those navigating life transitions, today announced the appointment of John Rajes as Chief Technology Officer, further strengthening the firm's executive leadership team as Merit continues to invest in the people, technology and infrastructure needed to support its rapid national expansion.

With more than $30.1 billion in assets across more than 55 offices nationwide, Merit has become one of the wealth management industry's most active growth firms, completing 61 acquisitions to date, including nine partnerships in 2026. Rajes' appointment reflects Merit's broader strategy of building the leadership structure and enterprise capabilities necessary to support that growth while continuing to enhance the experience for its advisors and clients.

Rajes, who joined Merit on July 13, will oversee the firm's enterprise technology strategy, including technology architecture, integrations, data, artificial intelligence and the continued development of a more unified digital experience for Merit's advisors and employees.

"Merit has experienced tremendous growth, and we have been very intentional about making sure our leadership structure and infrastructure evolve along with the organization," said Chrissy Lee, Chief Operating Officer of Merit Financial Advisors. "Technology is now central to virtually every aspect of how we support our advisors, integrate new teams and create scale across the firm. John brings the wealth management experience, technology expertise and strategic perspective we need to connect the investments we are making today with a much broader roadmap for where Merit is going."

Rajes' appointment is the latest in a series of strategic leadership investments by Merit designed to build greater specialization and executive capacity ahead of continued growth.

Earlier this year, Merit appointed Doug Moore as Chief Financial Officer to oversee the strategic financial operations and infrastructure supporting the firm's organic and acquisition growth and named Sarah Mouser, CFP®, Executive Vice President of Financial Planning, a newly dedicated leadership role focused on centralizing and scaling financial planning capabilities across Merit's growing national footprint. Merit has also added Alex Hansen as Chief Advisor Success Officer, another newly created role designed to strengthen the connection between the firm's advisors and executive leadership and help advisors more fully leverage Merit's resources, technology and platform.

Together, the hires reflect a deliberate strategy of adding experienced, specialized leaders in areas Merit believes will be critical to building what the firm describes as the wealth management firm of the future.

Rajes brings extensive financial services and wealth management experience to Merit, having held leadership positions at firms including LPL Financial, UBS, Barclays and Goldman Sachs. Most recently, he operated an independent consulting practice. Previously, as Head of Strategic Partnerships at LPL Financial, Rajes was responsible for the firm's fintech partnership ecosystem of approximately 90 providers, as well as investment product partnerships spanning asset managers, insurance companies and separately managed account providers.

At Merit, one of Rajes' early priorities is developing a technology roadmap designed around greater integration, scalability and simplicity. That includes bringing together the data and capabilities residing across Merit's technology ecosystem so advisors can spend less time moving among individual systems and more time serving clients.

"Technology becomes more important as an organization grows, but simply adding more technology isn't the answer," said Rajes. "The opportunity is to bring the pieces together in a way that creates a dramatically better experience and allows the organization to scale. Merit already has a strong foundation. Now we can build on it by connecting our data, integrations and AI capabilities in ways that make information more useful, accessible and actionable for advisors and employees."

Rajes describes his approach as innovating both "at the core and at the edges." At the core are data and integrations, ensuring information can move effectively throughout the organization and that Merit captures greater value from the technology it already uses. At the edges are the advisor and employee experiences, including emerging AI capabilities, that can make those underlying investments more powerful.

The strategy takes on added importance as Merit continues to grow both organically and through acquisitions. Each new partnership brings additional advisors, clients, workflows and, in some cases, technology platforms into the organization. Creating a more integrated enterprise technology environment is therefore an important component of Merit's ability to onboard firms efficiently, deliver a consistent advisor experience and create scale without adding unnecessary complexity.

"Our growth strategy has always been about much more than completing transactions," Lee said. "We want to make sure that when great firms choose Merit, we have the leadership, technology, resources and support infrastructure to help them become even stronger. Building that foundation ahead of where we expect the business to go is a critical part of our long-term strategy."

That philosophy mirrors what Merit's newest partner firms have said they are seeking. In announcing its recent acquisition of the $900 million Bridgeway Group in Southern California, Merit highlighted the importance of providing growing advisory firms with greater technology, operational, marketing and growth resources while enabling advisors to spend more time serving clients. The Bridgeway transaction marked Merit's 61st acquisition and its ninth partnership of 2026.

Rajes' role will also create greater specialization within Merit's technology and product organization. He will focus on the firm's overall technology strategy, infrastructure and implementation, working alongside Chief Product Officer Brian Green, whose responsibilities center on product strategy and development. Both report to Lee.

"As Merit has grown, technology and product have each become significant enough to require dedicated leadership," Lee said. "Having strong leaders focused on each area gives us the ability to move faster while being much more intentional about how everything works together. It is the right structure for the size of Merit today and, even more importantly, for the organization we intend to become."

Advisor adoption will also be central to the strategy. Merit plans to involve advisors throughout the development process, gathering feedback and incorporating advisor needs into technology initiatives rather than introducing solutions only after they have been built.

Rajes said that collaborative approach and Merit's culture was a significant factor in his decision to join the firm.

"The opportunity to have an outsized impact at a firm growing as quickly as Merit was incredibly compelling," said Rajes. "But equally important to me was the culture. There are many firms growing in wealth management. The question is where you believe you can thrive and who you want to thrive with. I saw in Merit a culture, leadership team and ambition that made this a particularly exciting opportunity."

Rajes is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will also spend significant time at Merit's Alpharetta, Georgia headquarters.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Tiger Commercial & Industrial (C&I) has completed the sale of a portfolio of high-precision fabrication and assembly machinery and equipment (M&E), along with finished products and raw materials, from two U.S. plants.

Conducted on behalf of the secured creditors, the online auction featured M&E from the former Alpharetta, Georgia, and Dallas, Texas, facilities of Auzmet, a national manufacturer of exterior building solutions such as composite metal panels, architectural façades and insulated wall panels.

Tiger marketed a broad mix of equipment from the two facilities, including CNC routers, electro-mechanical plate shears, CNC folding machines, electro-pneumatic saws, and smart routers by brands such as Miller, Lincoln Electric, FomIndustrie, Schechtl and Schlebach.

Bidders in the 415-lot sale vied for plant-support M&E and rolling stock by brands such as Kaesar, Chevy and Mitsubishi, along with raw materials and finished-goods inventory originally valued at more than $1 million.

Tiger's in-house auction and operations team leveraged its proprietary database of repeat buyers in composites manufacturing to drive demand across the offering, managing the entire sale and removal process across both facilities within a tight 30-day deadline set by the landlord.

"Our years of experience with aluminum fabrication equipment—including large-format panel builders from AXYZ Automation Group and units from Schechtl and Durma—gave us the ability to execute and quickly monetize the collateral," said Jonathan Holiday, Senior Director of Tiger Commercial & Industrial. "The end result was a robust recovery for the secured creditors in a fraction of the usual timeframe."

New generation of routers delivers expanded routing, automation, security and synchronization capabilities

PLANO, Texas, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ribbon Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: RBBN), a global leader in real-time communications technology, IP routing, and optical networking solutions, today announced the expansion of its critical infrastructure portfolio. The portfolio is designed to help utilities modernize increasingly complex operational networks while maintaining the reliability, security and deterministic performance required for essential services. Ribbon's experience spans hundreds of thousands of deployed network elements across the world, supporting some of the industry's most complex networks.

Utilities face growing pressure to modernize the grid, integrate distributed energy resources, improve reliability and strengthen cybersecurity. Meeting these requirements demands communications networks that support both legacy operational technologies and next-generation digital applications. Ribbon's market-leading critical infrastructure portfolio enables utilities to evolve confidently and at their own pace while preserving operational continuity and protecting mission-critical services.

"Utilities must modernize their networks, strengthen cyber resilience and support new digital grid initiatives without disrupting core operations," said Sam Bucci, EVP and COO at Ribbon. "Our expanded portfolio enables them to bridge legacy and next-generation requirements on a single, modern platform."

The new NPT 1022M and NPT 2104 build on the proven capabilities of existing platforms including the NPT 1012D and NPT 2714. Combined with Ribbon's IP rNOS routing software, optical networking portfolio and Muse multilayer automation platform (MAP), these technologies further strengthen Ribbon's ability to support the converged IT/OT communications networks that underpin modern utility operations.

Designed to address the demanding requirements of utility network modernization, Ribbon's solutions support teleprotection, SCADA, operational voice, always-on OT operations, deterministic packet transport (MPLS-TP, SR-TE), scalable IP/MPLS networking and class D timing for precise frequency and time synchronization across the grid.

These capabilities enable utilities to introduce advanced monitoring, automation, video, distributed energy resource management and smart grid analytics while modernizing their communications infrastructure without compromising operational continuity.

Ribbon's robust features includes:

Muse, which delivers critical infrastructure-focused automation and AI-enabled capabilities that simplify deployment, operations and management.

Advanced circuit emulation legacy for 64 kbit/s PCM services alongside advanced 100GbE and 400GbE interfaces

Built-in quantum-safe security and MACsec

IEC 61850 compliance and IEEE 1613 class B certification

Fully integrated IPoDWDM

"These innovations provide a strong foundation for utilities transitioning from TDM to IP-MPLS and segment routing architectures while preserving the reliability and performance essential to their operations," Mr. Bucci added. "They enable utilities to support both legacy and modern services on a common architecture while maintaining operational continuity."

How a Small IT Team Solved Juneau's Cruise-Season Dead Zone Without Hiring a Single Person

When 16,000 extra visitors a day overwhelmed cellular networks in Alaska's capital, the city turned to Northriver IT for a fully managed public Wi-Fi network that now offloads over twenty terabytes of traffic and serves 103,000-plus unique users a month

JUNEAU, Alaska, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Every summer, cruise season transforms downtown Juneau: up to sixteen thousand extra visitors a day, all reaching for their phones at once. Point-of-sale systems failed. Parking kiosks stopped working. Basic calls wouldn't connect. The downtown library became an accidental Wi-Fi hub, drawing crowds outside just to get a signal. After carriers offered no fix, the City and Borough of Juneau decided to build its own network and turned to Northriver IT to design, deploy, and manage it.

Working with Cambium Networks' ONE Network platform, Northriver IT stood up a high-density outdoor Wi-Fi 6 network anchored by 60 GHz wireless backhaul, avoiding the fiber trenching Juneau's mountainous, dock-heavy terrain would have required. Core infrastructure was live within roughly forty-five days. The network has since offloaded twenty to thirty-plus terabytes of cellular traffic and supported over 103,000 unique users in a single 30-day peak-season stretch — more than three times Juneau's year-round population with no added headcount or daily attention from the city's own IT staff.

"There was no cell phone signal or really spotty slow cell signal when the ships were in dock during summer tourism season." — Chris Murray, IT Director, City and Borough of Juneau

Seamless Passpoint 2.0 authentication let most visitors connect automatically with no password required; a detail city officials say was central to the network's success.

"We built this the way we build every network: solve the real problem, then get out of the way. Juneau's team shouldn't have to think about this Wi-Fi, and now they don't." — Chaz Hager, Northriver IT

Complaints dropped to zero during peak season. The network now runs on a seasonal schedule, remotely managed by Northriver IT with no daily lift from city staff, and Juneau is already planning coverage into more waterfront zones.
