New chemistry-specific AI vision technology turns chemistry trapped in images into searchable evidence at scale in Reaxys, helping researchers make confident decisions faster

SEOUL, South Korea and LONDON, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Elsevier and LG AI Research today announced that researchers can now identify chemistry that has often sat beyond the reach of search: the substances that appear only as images, drawings and reaction schemes in patents and scientific literature.

Visual chemistry of this kind has long been difficult for both humans and machines to index at scale. Now, chemistry-specific AI vision technology developed by LG AI Research is being used within Elsevier's content extraction and curation processes for Reaxys, Elsevier's discovery chemistry solution. Substance information from images in patent and journal content is captured far more quickly, accurately, and at far greater scale than was previously possible. This work enhances Elsevier's leading content extraction and scientific curation of substances, reactions, bioactivities, biological targets and substance properties for Reaxys.

Why it matters

Much of the substance and reaction information chemists rely on is communicated through figures, drawings and reaction schemes rather than searchable text. When that chemistry isn't searchable, researchers can be left checking documents by hand to confirm whether a compound or reaction has already been described. Making that chemistry discoverable at scale is a specialist AI challenge. Chemical drawings encode meaning through bonds, atoms, stereochemistry and spatial relationships. A model that misreads a bond may identify the wrong compound; one that misses a structure gives chemists an incomplete picture. This matters most in areas such as novelty searching, competitive intelligence and synthesis planning, and in inorganic and organometallic chemistry, where complex structures are harder to extract and index.

Built for chemical drawings

The novel chemistry-specific AI vision technology from LG AI Research combines molecule detection, reaction-diagram parsing and optical chemical structure recognition (OCSR) in a single model. In the company's published benchmarking, it outperforms alternatives at extracting chemistry from a full document page, placing the technology at the forefront of innovation for reading chemistry across formats. Each extraction pipeline is validated against existing Reaxys benchmarks before it goes live, so accuracy is not traded for scale. The full pipeline has undergone a rigorous period of testing across Elsevier's data and workflow tools to ensure accuracy and quality before wider use.

Mirit Eldor, Managing Director, Life Sciences, Elsevier, said: "Every hour a chemist spends deciphering figures or images to see what has already been made is an hour that could instead be spent on chemistry discovery. Our partnership with LG AI Research gives that time back, lifting more chemistry out of the image and into Reaxys - curated, searchable and ready to act on. A structure buried in a figure should be evidence rather than a dead end."

Hwayoung Edward Lee, lead of the AI Biz Transformation Unit at LG AI Research, said: "Understanding scientific images requires AI engineered specifically for chemistry — where every bond and spatial layout holds critical meaning. We designed our AI vision model to decode these complex visual representations with human-expert precision. Through our integration with Elsevier, we are proving that advanced chemistry-specific AI can seamlessly convert raw visual data into structured knowledge for global researchers."

Extending the partnership

Reaction extraction is the next stage of the collaboration, extending image-based extraction beyond individual substances to broaden the reaction evidence available through Reaxys. Elsevier and LG AI Research are also exploring further customer challenges to tackle together, bringing together LG AI Research's specialist AI capabilities with Elsevier's chemistry content, scientific expertise and curation.

Geotab launches Investigations and new safety capabilities to help fleets make every journey safer

New solutions make it easier for fleet managers to surface risk, investigate incidents and take targeted action

HANNOVER, Germany, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- IAA HANNOVER -- Every journey matters, to the driver making it, the business depending on it and the family waiting at the end of it. As fleets navigate rising operating costs and increasing road risk, Geotab Inc. ("Geotab"), a global leader in connected operations, video telematics and AI-powered insights, today announced a new suite of safety capabilities designed to help fleet managers turn complex data into clear, targeted action. The announcements include Geotab Investigations, a unified solution for resolving road incidents, alongside expanded video coaching, a redesigned Safety Overview Page and new violation detection.

Safety is a growing priority for fleets. According to a Geotab survey, 95% of European fleet professionals believe the risk of driving collisions has increased over the past five years. For fleet leaders, supporting drivers requires more than monitoring past behavior. It requires timely intelligence that helps identify risk, prioritise coaching and measure improvement while keeping drivers at the center of every safety program.

"Every journey matters, and behind every data point is a driver whose safety and wellbeing deserve attention," said Aaron Jarvis, Vice President EMEA at Geotab. "Our latest safety capabilities help fleet managers move from reviewing disconnected information to taking focused action. By bringing risk insights, coaching workflows and investigation tools together, Geotab makes it easier for safety teams to understand what is happening across their fleets and support drivers before risk becomes a collision."

Geotab Investigations: a unified system of record for incident resolution

Fleet organisations regularly need to investigate incidents such as collisions, customer or citizen complaints, property damage and safety violations. These investigations typically involve multiple stakeholders — operations teams, safety managers, insurance providers and legal teams — and the process is often manual and fragmented, creating operational inefficiency alongside legal, compliance and reputational risk.

Geotab Investigations addresses this by bringing existing telematics data into a unified, structured workflow. Rather than assembling evidence across disconnected systems, safety and operations teams can locate incident-related vehicle activity, reconstruct event timelines and attach supporting materials in one place.

"Fleet-related incidents have cost companies billions of dollars in litigation and reputational damage, largely because critical data remains siloed," added Jarvis. "Geotab Investigations changes this by turning raw data into a structured, defensible system of record, providing fleet managers with the intelligence to mitigate risk and the evidence to protect their drivers, operations and bottom line."

Key capabilities of Geotab Investigations include:

- Data-driven incident search: Instantly locate all telematics-based vehicle activity associated with an incident using location and time-based search.

- Event timeline reconstruction: Understand the full sequence of movement by combining trips, driver behavior, speed events and location data to reconstruct a precise timeline of what occurred before, during and after an incident.

- Supporting evidence integration: Attach and organise external materials — notes, emails, reports, documents, photos and video — alongside telematics data to provide the full story behind every event.

- Structured case workflow: Create and maintain structured cases with clear stages from open to closed, ensuring incidents are tracked, governed and auditable.

- Review and decision support: Provide stakeholders with complete, time-aligned records that support operational decisions, insurance claims, compliance needs and internal review.

- Drivers also benefit directly when incidents are investigated using accurate data, helping fleets determine what actually happened and reducing the risk of incorrect attribution.

Additional safety capabilities

Alongside Investigations, Geotab is announcing three further capabilities that extend its connected safety platform.

- Expanded video coaching: Geotab's video coaching platform, developed for the GO Focus Plus and GO Focus Pro, is being extended to Lytx Surfsight AI12 and AI14 and Xirgo KP2 cameras through the Geotab Marketplace, at no additional cost to active subscribers and without hardware changes. Managers can review events in the Geotab platform, use Smart Sequence and Magnitude Ranking to prioritise risk and connect events to the right driver with Smart Driver ID.

- Safety Overview Page: Set to be introduced as a native part of Geotab's platform, the Safety Overview Page consolidates existing safety insights into one daily-use destination. It provides a 0–100 Safety Metric, peer benchmarking, percentile ranking, high-risk driver prioritisation, behavior trends and plain-language explanations of each metric, helping managers quickly understand fleet safety health and determine where coaching or further investigation is needed.

- Red-light violation detection: In addition to detecting illegal U-turns, GO Focus Plus and GO Focus Pro cameras now detect red-light violations at signalised intersections, giving safety teams video-backed insights to support targeted coaching.

Results

European fleets are already demonstrating what connected safety intelligence makes possible. Richfords, Safety Champion award recipient at the European Geotab Innovation Awards, recorded a 22% reduction in collision risk and a 59% improvement in safe driving behaviours within two months of deploying Geotab Vitality, generating a 411% return on investment. Barhale, a UK civil engineering contractor, combined Geotab telematics with AI video to reduce preventable collisions by 8.8%, eliminate high-risk drivers entirely and negotiate a 2.7% reduction in insurance premiums, despite 40% fleet growth.

Every participant will receive a race-specific SiS x Nike Race Pack covering hydration, energy and recovery.

A limited range will be available for public purchase in the UK, US and Australia from September 4th 2026.

The partnership brings together Nike's global running platform and SiS's science-led expertise across energy, hydration and recovery. It will also see Nike and SiS launch a co-branded performance nutrition range for the Tour, marking the first time Nike has created a co-branded nutrition range with a performance nutrition partner with further education delivered through the participant journey and a dedicated microsite.

Dan Lampard, Chief Commercial & Operating Officer at Science in Sport, said: "What makes this partnership different is that we've started with the runner, not the product. Together with Nike, we've created a complete fueling system around what runners need to prepare, perform and recover at their best. It brings the performance nutrition principles used at the highest level of sport into a simple, accessible experience for tens of thousands of runners across the Nike After Dark Tour."

Scottish Rite for Children Honored Again as No. 1 in the Nation for Pediatric Orthopedic Care by U.S. News & World Report

Institution earns top ranking for a second consecutive year, reflecting its longstanding

commitment to patient care and giving children back their childhood

DALLAS, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. News & World Report ranked Scottish Rite for Children No. 1 in the nation for pediatric orthopedic care in its 2026-2027 Best Children's Hospitals specialty rankings.

For nearly two decades, Scottish Rite has placed among the nation's top pediatric orthopedic programs in collaboration with Children's Medical Center Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center. This marks the first time the organization has earned the No. 1 ranking in consecutive years.

"We are deeply honored by this recognition because it represents the exceptional care we provide to children and families every day," said Robert L. Walker, president and CEO of Scottish Rite for Children. "Our greatest measure of success will always be the difference we make in their lives. This honor belongs to the people across Scottish Rite who make that possible."

U.S. News develops its annual rankings in partnership with RTI International, which collected and analyzed data from 114 children's hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists. The rankings consider factors including clinical outcomes, compliance with established best practices and level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care.

"This recognition reflects Scottish Rite's continued work to advance pediatric orthopedic care," said Daniel J. Sucato, M.D., M.S., chief of staff at Scottish Rite for Children. "Every advancement we make starts with a simple question: How can we provide better care for this child?"

This year, Scottish Rite performed the first U.S. implantation of a newly FDA-cleared device to treat early-onset scoliosis, expanding treatment options for children with complex spinal conditions.

In recent years, the National Institutes of Health awarded Scottish Rite R01 grants totaling $4.1 million to advance research for osteonecrosis.

Scottish Rite also advances the field through education. The Dorothy & Bryant Edwards Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics and Scoliosis, the largest pediatric orthopedic fellowship in the world, graduated its 200th fellow this year.

"Our strength comes from the way clinical care, research and education work together at Scottish Rite," Sucato said. "That approach allows us to advance pediatric orthopedics and, most importantly, provide the best possible care for every child."

About Scottish Rite for Children

Scottish Rite for Children has been dedicated to giving children back their childhood for more than a century. The institution is a world-renowned leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions, such as scoliosis, clubfoot, hand differences, hip disorders, limb lengthening and reconstruction, sports injuries and fractures, as well as certain related arthritic and neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. The organization conducts innovative research and provides high-level education opportunities for medical professionals around the world. Scottish Rite operates two campuses, including a hospital in Dallas, Texas, and an ambulatory surgery center in Frisco, Texas, and is known for being a bright, child-friendly place that does not look or feel like a health care institution. Patients receive treatment regardless of their family's ability to pay. CKGSB-IE University Report Reveals New Models of Chinese Companies Going Global

CKGSB-IE University Report Reveals New Models of Chinese Companies Going Global

SINGAPORE, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) today launched Chinese Companies' New Playbook for Going Global, a joint report with IE University's China Observatory examining how Chinese companies are rethinking their globalization strategies in an increasingly fragmented global economy.

Led by CKGSB's Professor of Economics and Associate Dean Li Wei, the report argues that Chinese corporate globalization is entering a third phase — "capability export." Rather than simply shipping products or building overseas sales channels, companies are increasingly taking the operating capabilities abroad – including technical standards, product development, supply-chain organization, service, branding, and business models—while adapting them to local markets.

For companies pursuing global growth, localization is becoming critical. Li Haitao, Dean and Dean's Distinguished Chair Professor of Finance at CKGSB, writes: "The next generation of winners will be those that understand local politics, respect local rules, invest in local capabilities and build trust with local stakeholders."

The report identifies two emerging models of Chinese overseas expansion. "Chain style globalization" sees large companies expand alongside suppliers and partners, extending industrial ecosystems overseas, whereas "swarm-style globalization" describes how smaller firms expand in quick succession supported by China's infrastructure such as industrial clusters, cross-border platforms, logistics networks and overseas warehouses.

The report's field research in Southeast Asia cautions against treating overseas markets as extensions of China. Price, speed and scale do not automatically translate into success: companies must navigate fragmented demand, regulatory complexity, local-content requirements, incomplete supply chains and cultural differences.

For multinationals and Southeast Asian businesses, the shift creates new competitive pressures and opportunities for partnership as Chinese companies seek local expertise, talent and networks to build deeper roots in overseas markets.

On cross-border acquisitions, Bin Ma, IE University's Professor and Academic Director of China Observatory, highlights the importance of people who bridge organizational, cultural and institutional divides. "Boundary spanners, or experienced executives dispatched from the acquiring company to work within the newly acquired organization, are likely to be among the most important yet often overlooked sources of competitive advantage," he writes.

José Félix Valdivieso, Chairman of China Observatory at IE University, highlights the cultural dimension of capability export: "Chinese companies must increasingly export knowledge, entrepreneurial spirit, organizational capabilities and management systems."

The full report is available on CKGSB's website.

TrusTrace Launches New Platform to Turn Supply Chain Data Into Insight and Action

TrusTrace Launches New Platform to Turn Supply Chain Data Into Insight and Action

New platform builds on TrusTrace's enterprise-proven data foundation, starting with Supply Chain Intelligence and automated program operations.

STOCKHOLM, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As sustainability and due diligence regulations multiply, global brands face a widening gap between the supply chain data they collect and their ability to act on it. TrusTrace, a global leader in supply chain traceability and compliance, today announced a new platform built to close that gap.

The platform expands TrusTrace's enterprise-proven traceability and compliance foundation, making supply chain data directly accessible for insight and decision-making while automating the programs that act on it. Teams can identify what needs attention faster and automate assessments, evidence collection, follow-up, and corrective action.

At its foundation is TrusTrace's real-time, lot-level forward traceability and AI-powered backward chain-of-custody data across materials and sourcing models.

"Every regulation ultimately asks the same question: can you prove it? But proving compliance starts much earlier, with understanding your supply chain, knowing where the gaps are, and acting before they become problems," said Shameek Ghosh, CEO and Co-Founder of TrusTrace.

Rolling out in phases starting this month, the platform has been built and validated over the past year with several of the world's leading brands. Its first focus is Supply Chain Intelligence, which allows brands to ask natural-language questions across suppliers, facilities, products, materials, and supply chain relationships, surfacing gaps, patterns, insights, and reports in seconds.

Future phases will add regulatory and enterprise intelligence, connecting external requirements and brands' policies with supply chain data to identify which requirements apply and address gaps earlier.

TrusTrace is also introducing a program builder and orchestrator that automates Supplier Compliance workflows. Brands can automate vendor onboarding, continuous monitoring, assessments, evidence requests, follow-ups, and corrective actions using their own data.

Supply Chain Intelligence is the newest of three connected solution areas on the TrusTrace platform. Supplier Compliance manages whether suppliers meet a brand's requirements; Supply Chain Intelligence identifies gaps and supports decision-making; and Product Compliance determines whether products meet applicable requirements and provides evidence to prove it. The launch also introduces automation capabilities that connect all three.

"We have spent years helping brands build trusted supply chain data. Now we are making that data work harder, turning it into intelligence, decisions, and action," said Ghosh. "The goal is to help brands scale increasingly complex compliance programs without scaling their teams at the same rate, so they can spend more time on the decisions that matter."

The new platform is built around four pillars:

- One unified data foundation: Suppliers submit data once, in any format or language. TrusTrace extracts, validates, and links it into one trusted foundation that can be reused across use cases.

- Supply Chain Intelligence: Brands receive live insights and reports grounded in their own TrusTrace data, with regulatory, enterprise, and risk intelligence to come.

- Automated operations: A program builder and orchestrator automate multi-step workflows across the supplier base.

- One connected compliance platform: Supplier requirements, regulatory obligations, and product compliance share the same data and evidence, reducing duplication for both brands and suppliers.

AI supports data extraction and validation, natural-language access to supply chain information, and program automation. A new program can go live in as little as three days, with the first supplier data request sent in week one. TrusTrace's data foundation spans more than 120,000 suppliers across more than 80 countries.

The platform is designed for brands of every size, with additional capabilities planned as the rollout continues.
