Rondo Energy and Rio Tinto Advance Australia's Largest Thermal Energy Storage Project

GLADSTONE, Australia, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Rondo Energy and Rio Tinto have started front-end engineering and design on the project for a 360 MWh storage / 30 MW discharge Rondo Heat Battery, supported by a grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).

ARENA's funding for the project will be provided in stages, with an initial $3.6 million to complete front-end engineering and design work. Following successful completion of that study, ARENA will provide up to $38 million for deployment. ARENA has also approved up to $33.3 million in conditional contingency support, which would only be made available in defined circumstances to manage specific project risks, including cost overruns and electricity costs.

If progressed, the project would be delivered at Rio Tinto's Yarwun alumina refinery near Gladstone, Queensland and would be one of the first large-scale demonstrations of thermal energy storage for industrial process heat globally, and a world-first for the alumina industry.

Rondo Heat Batteries use abundant, low-cost midday electricity to charge, storing energy as high-temperature heat in refractory brick, and supplying energy as 24/7 continuous process heat to industry. Typically, the heat is delivered as steam, directly into an industrial facility's steam network. Australia regularly has 4-6 hours of surplus solar-generated renewable electricity in the middle of the day, but industrial facilities need heat 24 hours a day, not just when the sun is shining. By charging when electricity is cheap and abundant and discharging continuously, Rondo Heat Batteries turn short periods of low-cost electricity into 24/7 delivery of low-cost steam.

For energy-intensive industries such as alumina refining, Rondo Heat Batteries create a pathway to electrification that addresses both emissions and energy costs. Because the heat battery slots into the existing steam network, the facility's processes run exactly as before — the only thing that changes is the energy for that heat: no longer from fossil fuels, but sourced from low cost electricity instead. The Yarwun study will assess the technical and economic viability of integrating the technology into refinery operations.

"This project shows how Australia's abundant energy can become a competitive advantage for industry," said Dr. Kira Rundel, Rondo's Head of Australia. "Heat batteries allow manufacturers to use low-cost electricity to produce the reliable, round-the-clock heat their operations need. Australia's largest heat battery will show how factories can cut emissions without increasing energy costs, helping Australian industry to increase global competitiveness and supporting local manufacturing jobs."

Rio Tinto Pacific Operations Managing Director Armando Torres said: "Reducing emissions from alumina refining is complex, particularly when it comes to generating the high-pressure steam needed for our operations.

"This study will help us determine whether thermal energy storage can provide a technically and economically viable alternative to fossil fuels for part of Yarwun's steam requirements.

"The best way to tackle challenges of this scale is through collaboration between industry, government, and technology partners. We welcome ARENA and Rondo's support as we assess technologies that could help reduce our Scope 1 emissions while maintaining reliable operations at Yarwun."

About Rondo Energy

Rondo Energy delivers firm heat and power, including combined heat and power (CHP), to heavy industry and provides power solutions and long duration storage to data centers. For industrial heat applications, Rondo Heat Batteries convert 4-6 hours of low-cost electricity into continuous 24-hour, high-temperature heat, delivered as steam or hot air up to 1,000°C. The heat delivered integrates directly with existing industrial equipment and processes, eliminating on-site emissions and running on lower cost energy. Rondo heat storage can integrate with steam turbines to deliver combined heat and power (CHP) for industry, and long duration power-to-power solutions for large energy consumers such as data centers. Built on proven refractory brick as the thermal storage medium, Rondo's platform is engineered for multi-decade operation in the most demanding industrial environments.

Rondo Heat Batteries have been delivering firm heat and power at scale since 2023, with operational facilities serving customers in fuels and cement (including steam driving turbines for electricity) in the United States and in Asia. The next unit will come online shortly - a 100 MWh Rondo Heat Battery under construction in Europe for a chemical plant. Rondo is a global company based in California, with teams across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Providing heat and power solutions to the alumina industry is an area of focus for the company due to the strong fit of Rondo's technology with the heat and power needs of the alumina industry.

Aduna and Major U.S. Carriers Expand Network API Portfolio to Help Businesses Combat Fraud

PLANO, Texas, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Aduna, a leading global aggregator of standardised network APIs, today announced three powerful fraud prevention APIs across the United States: Know Your Customer, Device Swap, and Call Forward Detection, targeted for availability in Q4. Delivered in collaboration with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, the new APIs provide businesses with direct access to trusted mobile network signals that can help identify fraud risks in near real-time and make more informed customer authentication and onboarding decisions.

The launch marks another significant milestone in Aduna's mission to unlock the value of mobile network data and make carrier-grade intelligence accessible through a single, standardised platform. By combining coverage across the three largest U.S. mobile operators, Aduna helps enable enterprises, developers and solution providers to integrate trusted network signals through a single API gateway rather than managing multiple carrier relationships and integrations.

As fraud continues to evolve, businesses face growing challenges in distinguishing legitimate customers from increasingly sophisticated threats, including account takeover fraud, synthetic identities, social engineering scams and unauthorised account changes. By leveraging trusted information directly from mobile operators, the new APIs provide an additional layer of intelligence that can strengthen risk models, improve verification processes and reduce fraud losses.

"Fraudsters continue to exploit gaps in digital identity verification, creating significant challenges for businesses and consumers alike," said Anthony Bartolo, CEO of Aduna. "The launch of KYC and Device Swap and the forthcoming Call Forwarding Detection represents another major step towards bringing trusted network intelligence to the market at scale. By providing direct access to carrier-verified signals, we are helping organisations make smarter risk decisions, reduce fraud and create safer digital experiences for their customers."

KYC API

Helps verify customer identity information against carrier records, supporting more reliable customer onboarding and account verification processes.

Device Swap API

Identifies when a mobile number has recently been associated with a different device, helping organisations detect potential account takeover attempts and SIM-related fraud risks.

Call Forwarding Detection API

Reveals when call forwarding has been activated on a mobile number, helping identify potential fraud scenarios where criminals attempt to redirect authentication calls or verification processes.

Together, these network APIs provide businesses with powerful risk signals that can be incorporated into fraud prevention workflows, authentication journeys and identity verification solutions. The APIs are particularly relevant for organisations operating in financial services, fintech, e-commerce, digital marketplaces, telecommunications, healthcare and government services where trust and customer verification are critical.

Through Aduna's unified platform, enterprises gain access to consistent, standardised APIs across all participating operators, helping accelerate adoption while reducing implementation complexity.

About Aduna

Aduna is a landmark venture between some of the world's leading telecom operators and Ericsson, dedicated to enabling developers worldwide to accelerate innovation by leveraging networks to their full potential through common network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Its venture partners include AT&T, Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, Orange, Reliance Jio, Singtel, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone.

By combining network APIs from multiple operators globally under a unified platform based on the CAMARA open-source project, driven by the GSMA and the Linux Foundation, Aduna provides a standardised platform to foster collaboration, enhance user experiences and drive industry growth.

RYDE Stock Drop - Robbins LLP Reminds Investors They May Be Eligible to Lead the Class Action Lawsuit Against Ryde Group Ltd
Image File
Original HTML

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Shareholder rights law firm Robbins LLP reminds investors that a class action was filed on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased or otherwise acquired Ryde Group Ltd (NYSE: RYDE) securities between March 6, 2024 and September 11, 2024, inclusive (the "Class Period"). RYDE operates a mobility platform offering ride-hailing and transportation-related services.

The lawsuit alleges that Ryde's stock price was artificially inflated through a stock-promotion campaign and that defendants failed to disclose the alleged activity to investors.

Investors who suffered significant losses during the Class Period may be eligible to participate in the lawsuit and should contact Robbins LLP prior to the November 9, 2026 lead plaintiff deadline.

Why Was RYDE Sued?

The complaint alleges that, during the Class Period, defendants failed to disclose to investors that:

(1) RYDE was the subject of a fraudulent stock promotion scheme involving social media-based misinformation and impersonated financial professionals;

(2) insiders and/or affiliates used offshore or nominee accounts to facilitate the coordinated dumping of shares during a price inflation campaign;

(3) RYDE's public statements and risk disclosures omitted any mention of the false rumors and artificial trading activity driving the stock price; and

(4) as a result of the foregoing, Defendants' positive statements about the Company's business, operations, and prospects were materially misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis.

Why Did RYDE Stock Drop?

Plaintiff alleges that in the weeks and months leading up to the collapse, RYDE's share price surged from an initial public offering ("IPO") price of $4.00 to an all-time high of $22.49 despite no fundamental changes to the Company or news to justify the spike. Plaintiff further alleges that Investigations and public reports revealed that RYDE utilized social media to orchestrate an illicit "pump-and- dump" promotion scheme to defraud investors. These reports detail how impersonators claiming to be legitimate financial advisors touted RYDE in online forums, chat groups, and through social media posts with sensational but baseless claims to create a buying frenzy among retail investors.

However, on September 11, 2024, RYDE's share price abruptly crashed approximately 75%, to $5.50. Since then, the Company's share price has rapidly declined to approximately $0.50.

Who May Be Eligible to Participate in the RYDE Class Action?

The lawsuit seeks to represent investors who purchased or otherwise acquired Ryde Group Ltd securities between March 6, 2024 and September 11, 2024. Investors who suffered losses during that period may have legal rights under the federal securities laws.

What Is a Lead Plaintiff?

The lead plaintiff is a court-appointed investor who represents the interests of all class members throughout the litigation. Shareholders who wish to lead the case should contact Robbins LLP before the November 9, 2026, lead plaintiff deadline.

Serving as lead plaintiff is not required to share in any potential recovery. Investors who do not seek appointment may remain absent class members if the case proceeds and later resolves successfully.

Does It Cost Anything to Participate?

No. Robbins LLP represents investors on a contingency fee basis.

Why Robbins LLP?

A recognized leader in shareholder rights litigation, Robbins LLP has helped restore more than $2 billion in value to shareholders and secured some of the largest recoveries in shareholder derivative litigation history.

"Companies have an obligation to provide investors with complete and accurate information so that markets can function fairly and efficiently," said Brian J. Robbins, Founding Partner of Robbins LLP.

Alaska Air Group reports third quarter 2026 results

Reported loss per share of ($1.32), and adjusted earnings per share, excluding certain tax impacts, of $0.36

Announced intent to join the Atlantic and Pacific Joint International Businesses with oneworld and global partners

New service to Osaka and Papeete expands Seattle's nonstop international network to 9 of 15 planned routes by 2030

SEATTLE, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Air Group (NYSE: ALK) today reported financial results for the third quarter ending September 30, 2026.

"At Investor Day, we laid out a clear strategy for building a stronger, more diversified business, and we're executing it: growing premium, international, cargo and Atmos Rewards, and investing in the guest experience," said Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci. "Those are the things that earn guest loyalty, diversify our revenue and ultimately drive stronger earnings. While we're not satisfied with this quarter's result or the $1.8 billion fuel headwind this year, we are confident in our ability to execute on the things we can control, including increasing the spread between unit revenue and unit costs excluding fuel."

Quarter in Review:

Air Group reported third quarter Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) pretax margin of 0.4% and GAAP net loss of ($147) million, or ($1.32) per share. Air Group's third quarter adjusted pretax margin was 1.1% and adjusted net loss was ($35) million, or ($0.31) per share. Excluding certain tax impacts, Air Group's third quarter adjusted net income was $49 million, or $0.36 per share.

Third quarter results were driven by strong underlying commercial momentum despite a significant fuel headwind. Revenue increased 14% year-over-year to $4.3 billion on 2.4% capacity growth, resulting in unit revenue growth of nearly 12%, despite Hawaiʻi headwinds, pressure from strategic growth markets investments, and rapid international expansion. Yield improved through the quarter, with September yield increasing approximately 17% year-over-year.

Air Group's diversified revenue, which represents operating revenue outside the main cabin, has grown to 54% of total revenue, reflecting progress against our strategic initiatives as we shift towards a more structurally resilient business. Premium revenue grew approximately 25% and represented more than 36% of total revenue, loyalty program cash remuneration grew 21% to $721 million, and managed corporate revenue increased 30%. Air Group continued to expand its international network, with the additions of Paris, Athens, Osaka, and Papeete, bringing our Seattle international network to nine routes.

During the third quarter, the Company reduced its estimated annual effective tax rate (AETR) following a change in its full-year outlook from pretax income to a pretax loss, driven primarily by elevated fuel prices. As a result, the Company recorded a cumulative catch-up adjustment related to tax benefits recognized on first-half losses, which reduced third quarter adjusted earnings per share by ($0.67). Excluding this adjustment, third quarter adjusted earnings per share were $0.36.

Fourth Quarter Forecast Information:

Looking ahead, demand remains healthy, with commercial momentum continuing into the fourth quarter. Air Group expects capacity to grow approximately 1% to 1.5% year-over-year, with the increase concentrated in international flying. Unit revenue is expected to increase in the low double digits year-over-year and improve sequentially on a gross basis, supported by continued yield strength. Non-fuel unit costs are expected to increase in the mid-single digits, reflecting lower capacity growth.

Elevated fuel costs are expected to remain a significant headwind to near-term profitability, with our guidance assuming a fourth quarter economic fuel cost of $4.65 to $4.85 per gallon, or $650 million higher than our initial plan. For the full year, we now expect an adjusted loss per share between ($5.50) and ($5.00), inclusive of $1.8 billion in fuel expense above our plan.

Commercial Updates:

- Announced intent to join the Atlantic and Pacific Joint International Businesses with oneworld and global partners, broadening international connectivity for guests and increasing access to premium worldwide travel opportunities.

- Unveiled Aurora and Leihōkū by Alaska and Hawaiian, new premium guest experiences designed to elevate travel, featuring spacious lie flat suites, access to exclusive check-in and concierge services, and elevated dining options. - Introduced Premium Reserve, a new premium economy product set to debut in 2028 on Alaska's 787-9, 787-10 and select 737-10 MAX aircraft and on Hawaiian's A330 fleet, offering guests enhanced comfort, space, and choice on longer flights.

Loyalty Updates:

- Loyalty program cash remuneration grew 21% to $721 million in the third quarter.

- Launched new and improved benefits for Huakaʻi by Hawaiian members, including two free checked bags for Neighbor Island travel and additional ways to earn Atmos Rewards points.

Network Brainiacs Expands into Maryland Through Acquisition of Computer Enhancement Systems in Frederick

The expansion brings additional technology resources, cybersecurity expertise, and a renewed commitment to client experience to Maryland businesses.

FREDERICK, Md., Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Brainiacs, a managed IT services and cybersecurity company headquartered in Mount Arlington, New Jersey, is pleased to announce its expansion into Maryland through the acquisition of Computer Enhancement Systems (CES), an established IT services provider based in Frederick, Maryland.

The acquisition, effective September 1, 2026, comes shortly after Network Brainiacs celebrated 15 years in business this August. The expansion marks an important chapter in the company's growth and its continued commitment to helping businesses operate more efficiently, securely, and confidently through technology.

As part of the transition, Network Brainiacs has maintained CES' existing Frederick location and retained members of its local team. This approach preserves valuable local knowledge and established relationships while introducing new leadership, additional resources, and opportunities to enhance client experience.

"Our mission has always been to make lives more convenient through the seamless integration of technology," said Victor Magan, CEO of Network Brainiacs. "Expanding into Maryland allows us to bring that commitment to more businesses while building on the relationships CES has developed over the years. We're excited to combine local experience with additional resources and a fresh perspective on how we can best serve our clients."

Through this expansion, Maryland businesses will have access to a broader range of technology services, including managed and co-managed IT support, cybersecurity solutions, cloud services, data protection, AI services, application development, technology consulting, and strategic IT planning.

For existing CES clients, the focus is on providing dependable service, strengthening communication, understanding their evolving needs, and identifying opportunities to make their technology experience even better.

"At Network Brainiacs, we believe technology should make people's lives easier, not more complicated," said Juana Magan, Chief Experience Officer of Network Brainiacs. "What excites us most about this expansion is the opportunity to connect with more people, learn about their businesses, and build relationships rooted in trust and genuine care. We value what the CES team has built in Frederick, and we look forward to bringing new ideas, strengthening the client experience, and becoming part of this community."

With locations in New Jersey and Maryland, Network Brainiacs continues to grow its presence while staying committed to the values that guide its work: positivity, teamwork, integrity, a passion for serving others, continuous learning, and finding solutions.

Kat Florence Hotels Introduces Up To $20,000 Value Auction Wine Bottle Tastings For Guests, Star Sommelier Host Elizabeth Davies, and Top Chef Canada Star Shai-Ann Tyson

The intimate tastings, held every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m., will feature these exclusively auction-grade wines awarded a perfect score (of the many millions of wines in the world only 0.1- 0.3% will ever achieve this prestigious judges' ranking). Each star Sommelier-led experience will welcome no more than six staying guests, on a first-booked first-access basis, offering an exceptionally rare opportunity to experience some of the world's most coveted bottles in a private, unhurried setting. The experience is offered as an entirely gifted privilege to eligible guests of Kat Florence Hotel, where extraordinary hospitality has become as much a signature as the world-record-breaking gemstones of its founder, internationally celebrated artist Kat Florence.

"Some of my most memorable evenings have been spent around a table with a remarkable bottle and the people I love" describes Florence. "I wanted to create a space where my guests could have that same experience. Elizabeth, my personal sommelier, pours for them just as she pours for me: something extraordinary, along with its story, in an intimate room. It is included in every stay, because the finest things in life are meant to be shared."

Leading the experience is Elizabeth Davies, Kat Florence's personal Sommelier and rare wine hunter, whose expertise in sourcing exceptional bottles from the world's best auctions brings a new dimension to the hotel's celebrated guest experiences.

With more than 20 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Davies has built her career around the discovery, curation and appreciation of extraordinary, rare wines. A Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, Davies curates Kat's elite cellar collection, is a contributor to the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers' certification curriculum, teaches professional wine education at George Brown and more. Her widely known expertise has been featured on Breakfast Television, CHCH, The SOMM Journal, House & Home and many others.

"It's both an honour and a wild adventure to have what can only be described as the greatest sommelier position on Earth," says Davies. "As Kat Florence's personal sommelier, my role is much like that of her in-house gem hunter, but instead of rare gemstones, I'm searching the world for extraordinary, ultra-rare, and 100-point wines. I get to hunt down bottles that most sommeliers and wine lovers only dream of experiencing. What makes this opportunity even more remarkable is that Kat doesn't simply collect these treasures; she shares them with her guests, giving us the extraordinary privilege of experiencing and appreciating their greatness together."

The gifted, 5 p.m. elite wine tastings have been thoughtfully timed by Kat Florence to precede another famously signature house experience: the elaborate, multi-course celebrity Chef tasting dinners included with every night of every guest's stay.

Joining the hotel's esteemed fleet of star chefs this month is Chef Shai-Ann Tyson, winner of the 2023 Garland Canada Culinary Competition (where she became the first woman of colour to claim the title), top finalist of Top Chef Canada Season 12, and Canadian regional finalist for the 2026– 2027 S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition. Her achievements also include competing in the Bocuse d'Or Canada National Selection, and contributing to the Bocuse d'Or Team Canada Research & Development group.

Tyson joins a distinguished culinary collection that includes internationally acclaimed chefs Anthony Bish, Marc Collyer, Dale Mackay and Neill Anthony, whose careers have taken them into Michelin-starred kitchens, royal family households and the private dining rooms of some of the world's richest and most celebrated figures.

Unlike traditional luxury hotel dining, every stay at Kat Florence Hotel includes an opulent tasting dinner prepared by one of its rotating celebrity chefs, with the identity of the evening's chef and the menu itself part of the surprise. The addition of Tyson introduces a fresh creative perspective to this already exceptional culinary offering, where each evening promises an experience that cannot simply be ordered from a menu.

The new wine and culinary experiences continue Kat Florence's distinctive approach to hospitality, where rare artistry, highly personalized service and extraordinary generosity come together in an intimate historic setting in Elora, Ontario. From museum-worthy, multimillion- dollar gemstones displayed within the hotel's original 1848 limestone walls to nightly celebrity chef dinners and now access to some of the world's most valuable wines, the experience is designed around moments that few travellers will ever encounter.

Adding to the magic of the season, the Elora Christmas Market, presented by Kat Florence, returns November 14 through Christmas Day, once again transforming the historic village into one of the country's most popular festive holiday destinations. The artisanal, European chalet market and it's 100,000+ spectacular lights will welcome visitors Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m., offering another reason to discover Elora during one of its most enchanting times of year.

The Kat Florence 100-Point Elite Auction Wine Tastings begin October 20, 2026, and take place Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. Each complimentary experience is limited to six staying guests, with advance reservations made for the tastings via their personal hotel concierge.
