Opella: New study demonstrates successful cough treatment extends beyond symptom relief

PARIS, Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A new real-world study from Opella, the maker of Mucosolvan and Bisolvon, provides pharmacists with compelling evidence that the success of a cough treatment should be measured by its impact on a patient's overall well-being, alongside traditional symptomatic relief.

With most consumers1 making treatment decisions in the pharmacy, the pharmacist's recommendation plays a pivotal role in helping patients return to their normal routines and make the moment theirs again.

Key Findings:

- Fast Relief from the First Dose: Patients reported fast relief from the very first dose of treatment2, with data showing improvements in daily functioning from the first day of treatment, allowing them to rapidly start regaining control over their day.

- Restored Social Engagement: A clinically meaningful improvement in the social impact of cough was achieved within 72 hours, reflecting patients' ability to engage more comfortably in conversations and everyday social activities.

- Improved Sleep Quality: Sleep disruption is a primary patient concern. After just 48 hours, difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and sleep-related tiredness scores improved significantly, with the percentage of patients reporting these challenges dropping by 59%, 56% and 55% in each category.

Milena Leone, Global Brand General Manager, Opella.

"When a cough disrupts daily routines, effective and timely care is essential. This study provides valuable, real-world evidence that Mucosolvan and Bisolvon goes beyond managing the physical symptom; by delivering fast-acting relief from the first dose, it helps people move past the disruption of cough and resume their daily lives more quickly."

About the Study

The RWE Cough Study was a prospective, observational study conducted in Italy with adult consumers who had purchased Mucosolvan (Ambroxol) or Bisolvon (Bromhexine) for an acute chesty cough. The study evaluated daily effectiveness and quality of life impacts over a seven-day period using validated tools, including the Cough Severity Diary (CSD) and the Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ).

For more information or to review the findings in full, go to p. 79 here.

MAT-GLB-2605783-v1.0-10/2026

1. In Germany, 58% of consumers make their cough and cold treatment decisions in-store.

2. After first intake, 53% (41%) of bromhexine (ambroxol) users agreed/strongly agreed they felt immediately relieved, and 57% and 44%, respectively, reported relief from the urge to cough.

NicholsMD Introduces Acorn YOU™ Secretome at The Hair Lab™ in Greenwich

The Connecticut dermatology practice expands its physician-led, concierge approach to hair and scalp care.

GREENWICH, Conn., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- NicholsMD, a Connecticut dermatology practice founded by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Kim Nichols, is launching Acorn YOU™ Secretome at The Hair Lab™, its dedicated destination for personalized hair and scalp care at its Greenwich flagship. The addition gives The Hair Lab™ team another professional option to discuss with patients based on their hair and scalp concerns.

YOU™ Secretome is created using a patient's own preserved hair follicle cells. Acorn describes it as a cell-free blend of signaling molecules - including exosomes, growth factors, peptides, and proteins - that help cells communicate. These molecules are intended to support the scalp's follicle environment and natural hair renewal, with the goal of promoting stronger, thicker-looking hair and improving hair amount and quality. Because the product is made from a patient's own cells, it offers a highly tailored approach to hair and scalp care.

A Dedicated Destination for Hair and Scalp

At NicholsMD, YOU™ Secretome will be part of the Hair Lab's personalized approach to the hair you want, made simple. A consultation may include a detailed scalp and follicle analysis to help the care team understand a patient's concerns and discuss appropriate options. The Hair Lab™ offers a range of professional and at-home hair and scalp services, including PRP (platelet-rich plasma), HydraScalp treatments, laser hair removal, and home-care products such as Revian. Recommendations are curated by Dr. Nichols and her team for each individual; YOU™ Secretome is one option within that broader conversation.

"We know skincare is deeply personal, and hair care deserves that same thoughtful attention," said Dr. Kim Nichols, board-certified dermatologist and founder of NicholsMD. "We created The Hair Lab™ to give patients a dedicated place to discuss their hair and scalp concerns with our team. Acorn YOU™ Secretome is a compelling addition because it is made using a patient's own preserved hair follicle cells, giving us another distinctive option to discuss as part of their care."

The launch reflects NicholsMD's concierge-level approach across hair and skincare, bringing expert guidance and thoughtful recommendations together in one setting.

Bringing Acorn's Science to The Hair Lab™

Acorn Biolabs founder and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Drew Taylor recently visited NicholsMD to meet with Dr. Nichols and the team and share more about the company's cell-to-secretome platform. "Your own cells will one day be the most important currency in medicine. Acorn exists to collect, store and prepare you to leverage your best cells for future medical innovations," said Dr. Drew Taylor, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Acorn Biolabs. Taylor's doctoral research into hair follicle stem cells became the scientific foundation for Acorn and its YOU™ Secretome product. His visit provided an opportunity for the NicholsMD team to learn more about the product and discuss its place within the Hair Lab's professional protocols.

Patients looking to support fuller-looking hair, interested in learning more about YOU™ Secretome, or wanting to explore options for unwanted hair can schedule a consultation with the NicholsMD team to discuss goals and available services.

About NicholsMD of Greenwich

Founded in 2013, NicholsMD of Greenwich is the first and only boutique dermatology practice in Greenwich, Connecticut. About Acorn Biolabs

Those cells produce YOU™ Secretome, a bio-identical regenerative solution that professionals use in skin, hair and scar protocols. Because it's made from the individual's own cells, it's autologous, not donor-derived. Currently used topically in aesthetics, with work underway toward an approved injectable version.

XPENG CEO He Xiaopeng Calls for Deeper Global Collaboration at the 2026 Paris Automotive Summit, Highlighting "XPENG AI Engineering"

- Mr. He Xiaopeng, Chairman & CEO, becomes the first Chinese automotive CEO to deliver a keynote in the history of the Paris Automotive Summit, calling for greater industry collaboration as AI, electrification and globalization reshapes the automotive sector.

- Mr. He Xiaopeng introduced XPENG AI Engineering, calling for open collaboration and opening XPENG's full-stack technologies and engineering capabilities to global partners, from vehicle platforms to Physical AI.

- XPENG highlighted NGP which is aiming for global market expansion in 2027, alongside clear milestones for its humanoid robot, IRON, targeting mass production in late 2026, initial deliveries in H1 2027, and a European rollout in H2 2027.

PARIS, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Mr. He Xiaopeng, Chairman & CEO of XPeng Inc. ("XPENG" or the "Company,"NYSE: XPEV; HKEX: 9868), a leading global Physical AI company, today called for deeper collaboration across the global automotive industry, as he became the first Chinese automotive CEO to deliver a keynote in the history of the Paris Automotive Summit.

Speaking to automotive industry leaders in Paris, Mr. He outlined how AI, electrification and smart technologies are reshaping the automotive industry, creating new opportunities for technology collaboration across the sector.

The theme of his keynote speech was "Navigating the AI Era: Open Collaboration for a Smarter Future," where he outlined XPENG AI Engineering, XPENG's strategy to combine its Physical AI technology with deeper ecosystem partnerships across Europe and globally.

He emphasized that no single manufacturer holds all the advantages required for the next generation of smart mobility. To accelerate this transition, XPENG is opening its in-house tech stack and engineering resources to key international partners.

Open Technology Collaboration for the AI Era: XPENG AI Engineering

XPENG's approach to collaboration is rooted in its evolution as a Physical AI company, with full-stack technologies spanning chips, models and applications across intelligent vehicles, robotaxis, humanoid robots and flying cars. In intelligent driving, XPENG highlighted NGP powered by VLA 2.0, designed to advance directly from L2 to L4 and deliver the same core capability across China and Europe, as the company prepares to bring advanced intelligent driving to global markets in 2027.

XPENG is also advancing the commercialization of its humanoid robot, IRON, with mass production targeted for late 2026, deliveries beginning in the first half of 2027, and a European rollout planned for the second half of 2027.

As AI expands into the physical world, XPENG believes industry transformation will be driven both from within and beyond automotive. To usher in this new era, XPENG is opening its proprietary technologies and engineering toolchains to global partners - spanning vehicle platforms, E/E architecture, batteries, e-drives, and modular innovations like the AI BOX, Turing AI chip, and Turing physical world foundation model.

Through XPENG AI Engineering, the company is pursuing a model built around complementary strengths, flexible collaboration and independent innovation, enabling partners to co-develop differentiated products while building their own technology capabilities over time.

As a proven example of this mutually beneficial approach, Mr. He highlighted XPENG's strategic collaboration with Volkswagen Group, which brings together XPENG's intelligent-driving and software capabilities with Volkswagen's vehicle engineering and testing expertise.

This latest development builds on XPENG's continued investment in technology and talent. In the first half of 2026, XPENG invested approximately €770 million in R&D.

"Partnership starts with trust, and after trust comes openness," said Mr. He. "We welcome global partners to work with us, learn from each other and bring our strengths together. To bring technology to life and build the future together."

In Europe, For Europe, With Europe

Mr. He also reinforced XPENG's long-term "In Europe, For Europe, With Europe" commitment, centered on producing in Europe, designing for European users and partnering with the region's industrial ecosystem.

XPENG has put four models into production in Europe within one year, including the G6, G9, P7+ and the latest G9L. Its European R&D center serves as a hub for EU homologation and certification, language and interaction localization, intelligent-driving validation, European chassis and handling tuning, and charging-network integration.

XPENG continues to deepen collaboration across Europe's automotive and technology ecosystem, working with local partners as it expands its capabilities in the region.

ENDS

CoreWeave Investigation Notice: SueWallSt Notifies Investors of Pending Investigation Into CoreWeave (CRWV)

Original HTML

The yield on CoreWeave's unsecured bonds reportedly reached 15% on October 13, 2026. The next day, the stock was dropping by nearly the same figure. The investigation concerns whether CoreWeave adequately disclosed the borrowing-cost risk tied to its debt-funded expansion.

NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CoreWeave, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRWV) shares opened at $71.79, a decline of about 7.74% from the previous day's closing price of $77.81, as reports that the yield on the Company's unsecured bonds reportedly touched 15% developed. By midday, the stock price had fallen more than 15%. If you bought CRWV shares and lost money, you may have legal rights, and the investigation is underway now. Shareholders who suffered losses are encouraged to review your potential recovery options now . You may also contact Joseph E. Levi, Esq. via email at [email protected] or by telephone at (888) SueWallSt.

This development follows CoreWeave's decision to increase its full-year CapEx guidance during its second quarter earnings call on August 11, 2026 from a range of $31 billion to $35 billion, to $35 billion to $39 billion, an increase of about 10.8% at the midpoint and significantly more than double the $14.9 billion it spent in 2025. Analysts have called the investment cycle "more pronounced than expected."

CoreWeave's buildout of data centers, GPUs and power capacity has been funded in large part with debt, and its interest expense has risen sharply. Before the bond selloff, CRWV had already fallen more than 45% below its 52-week high of $150.40. SueWallSt notifies shareholders of an investigation into potential securities law violations, including whether CoreWeave may not have adequately disclosed the borrowing-cost and refinancing risk tied to its expansion.

CoreWeave shareholders who lost money are encouraged to request a no-cost review of their CRWV losses or call (888) SueWallSt.

TEAMSTERS PILOTS AT HORIZON AIR HOLD INFORMATIONAL PICKETS

Pilots in Seattle and Boise Demand Fair Contract After Years of Stalled Negotiations

SEATTLE, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 650 pilots at Horizon Air, represented by Teamsters Local 1224, held an informational picket today in Seattle and Boise, calling on the airline to end years of delay tactics and agree to a fair contract that provides industry-standard compensation.

Teamsters pilots at Horizon have been negotiating for nearly four years for an agreement that addresses critical issues including wages, staffing and training shortages, and operational concerns that continue to impact both employees and the airline's future.

As a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, Horizon pilots perform nearly the same amount of flying as their counterparts at Alaska Airlines. Despite those responsibilities, Horizon pilots' pay continues to fall behind industry standards due to the company's refusal to negotiate a fair agreement.

"Our pilots are the backbone of Horizon's operation," said Henry Simkins, Chair of Local 1224's Horizon Executive Council. "They continue to deliver safe and reliable service every day while management drags its feet on a contract that reflects their contribution and value. The same mismanagement has created operational challenges throughout the airline, and that dysfunction has become impossible to ignore in bargaining. Our members deserve better and they're tired of being told to wait."

In addition to the informational picket, Horizon pilots will conduct a vote of no confidence in Carlos Zendejas, Senior Vice President of Operations at Horizon.

Pilots at Horizon say chronic staffing shortages, inconsistent application of company policies and procedures, and a growing reliance on pilots to compensate for operational shortcomings are reasons for the vote. These issues have persisted throughout contract negotiations and have contributed to a significant erosion of trust in company leadership.

"Every day, Horizon pilots are expected to do more with less," said Jason Welch, a Horizon pilot and member of Local 1224. "We've watched these challenges persist for years, yet management refuses to address the issues that matter most to us. Enough is enough — it's time for the company to start delivering real solutions."

Teamsters Local 1224 represents aviation professionals throughout the United States, including flight crewmembers at ABX Air, Cape Air, Horizon Air, Omni Air International, and Silver Airways. Visit apa1224.org for more information.

IBM Study: Eight in Ten EMEA Enterprises Escalate AI Incidents to Board or C-Suite as AI Agents Test Governance
Image File
Original HTML

- 80% of surveyed executives in EMEA say an AI-related incident reached their board or C-suite in the past year, with only 40% changing AI governance policy or frameworks in response.

- 75% of respondents expect AI agents to have some level of autonomy with respect to decisions by 2027, yet only 37% say their governance is designed to scale with agentic AI deployment.

- When surveyed organizations want to deploy AI faster than governance and compliance frameworks are prepared for, nearly 60 percent (56%) continue within agreed risk limits while governance adapts; a third (33%) delay deployment until governance is ready.

- Only 37% of respondents have a formal, board-reviewed quantification of the financial risks created by gaps in their AI governance.

LONDON, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- New research by IBM (NYSE: IBM) finds that AI-related incidents are reaching boardrooms across Europe and the Middle East among the organizations surveyed, but governance capabilities and risk accountability are not keeping pace with adoption of the technology.

Eight in ten executives surveyed say an AI-related incident – including an agent failure, data exposure, AI-driven decision error, or AI security breach – reached their board or C-suite in the past year. Yet fewer than half (40%) of those organizations cite a change to AI governance policy or framework in response.

When the pace of deploying AI outstrips governance and compliance frameworks readiness, rather than pause while governance adapts, the majority (56%) of executives surveyed report pressing ahead within agreed risk limits. Just a third delay deployment entirely until their governance is ready.

The survey, of more than 3,200 senior executives at organizations across eight countries in Europe and the Middle East, suggests governance policies will be tested further as AI agents take on more autonomous work. Thirty-five percent of respondents say they are running agentic AI in production today, yet three-quarters expect AI agents to have some level of autonomy towards decisions by 2027. Only 37% say their current governance system is designed to scale with agentic AI deployment.

Ana Paula Assis, IBM Senior Vice President and Chair, EMEA and APAC, said: "The AI debate has moved from adoption to governance and accountability. As organizations progress from AI assistants to autonomous agents, governance can no longer be treated as a compliance exercise. It has become a business requirement and value enabler.

The enterprises that can scale AI with accountability and trust will be postitioned to realize business value. That means governance must be built into how agents operate, with clear boundaries on what they can do, clear ownership when things go wrong, and controls that work in real-time."

Accountability & liability gap

Nearly all executives (98%) surveyed have formally assigned responsibility for AI risk at board level, including 26% with a dedicated board-level AI committee. Yet the research found no clear consensus on accountability for adverse outcomes from AI agents. An organization's CIO or CTO was the most frequently cited role with assigned responsibility for adverse outcomes from AI agents, selected by just 17% of all respondents.

Respondents' views on legal liability when an AI system causes significant harm were also divided: 20% say it should be shared proportionally between deployer and vendor, 19% say there should be a regulatory framework that does not yet adequately exist, and 14% say it should sit with the AI vendor or technology provider.

To manage increasingly autonomous AI agents making decisions without human approval at each step by 2027, executives expect to need formal legal or contractual frameworks defining AI vendor liability for agent failures (33%), defined human escalation thresholds (32%), real-time monitoring and audit trails of agent decisions and actions (30%) and the ability to immediately halt agent activity across the enterprise (29%).

Other key findings include:

- Measurement of financial risk exposure less established than board ownership: More than half (54%) of surveyed executives govern generative AI tools and agentic AI systems as distinct risk categories with separate governance frameworks and a further 38% apply the same core framework, but with additional controls to agentic AI. Measuring financial exposure from gaps in AI governance is less advanced: only 37% have a formal, board-reviewed quantification of the financial risk created by gaps in their AI governance.

- Supply chain risk: 54% of all respondents acknowledge gaps or limitations in how their governance framework covers the AI systems and models used by key vendors, technology partners and supply chain participants. Only 21% continuously monitor third-party AI risk and 13% apply independent assurance or certification requirements.

- Regulation shapes the pace regionally: In the EU, 41% of surveyed executives are accelerating governance investment ahead of the EU AI Act's high-risk obligations in December 2027, and a further 35% are on track with structured compliance plans. In the UK, sector regulator expectations are the most cited driver of AI governance investment (27%), while in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, national AI strategy requirements lead (61%).

Study methodology

The research was conducted by Censuswide on behalf of IBM among 3,221 executive management respondents, including C-level, at organizations with 1,000 or more employees in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The data was collected between 14 and 24 September 2026.

Five-year collaboration framework aims to advance point-of-care diagnostics, clinical performance evaluation, and precision-medicine applications

LAS VEGAS and TORONTO, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- PurMinds Enterprises, Inc. (formerly Pacific Software, Inc.) (OTC: PFSF) ("PurMinds" or the "Company") today announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with SpectroChip Inc. ("SpectroChip"), a Taiwan-based developer of photonic-chip sensing and portable testing technologies, and Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital ("Siaogang Hospital"), operated by Kaohsiung Medical University, to support teaching, research, and clinical validation of point-of-care (POC) diagnostic technologies and testing solutions.

The collaboration brings together SpectroChip's photonic chip-based portable testing technology, PurMinds' SwiftLabTM Platform and precision-medicine solutions, and Siaogang Hospital's clinical research capabilities. The parties intend to establish the joint "PurMinds / SpectroChip Global Clinical Validation Testing Center" for teaching, research, and clinical-validation activities, as a framework for evaluating diagnostic performance, assessing testing workflows, and advancing research into continuously improved POC performance, subject to review by an institutional review board (IRB), institutional approvals and applicable regulatory requirements.

Connecting diagnostic technology with clinical research

PurMinds' SwiftLabTM Platform is built around a full-spectrum laboratory-grade spectrometer shrunk onto a single, highly advanced photonic chip and housed inside the SpectroCision™ SPU-D100, a portable reader small enough to carry anywhere. The platform is designed to turn a low-cost lateral-flow cassette from a faint yes-or-no line into a lab-grade quantitative result in five minutes or less, in clinics, pharmacies, community health centers, and at the patient's bedside. Clinical research and performance evaluation are important steps in assessing how diagnostic technologies and testing solutions perform in intended-use settings.

Under the collaboration, the parties will contribute complementary capabilities:

- PurMinds will lead the precision-medicine applications, clinical research collaboration, and access to international research and industry resources in its overall global commercialization strategy.

- SpectroChip will provide its photonic chip-based testing technology, together with technical documentation, training, and related support.

- Siaogang Hospital will provide an institutional setting for approved teaching, research, and clinical-validation activities, including research design, performance evaluation, testing-workflow assessment, and talent development.

Specific research projects will be established through separate written arrangements defining their scope, responsibilities, timelines, funding, and deliverables. Activities involving human participants, specimens, personal data, or medical-device clinical studies will proceed in accordance with applicable ethical, regulatory, and institutional requirements. The designation does not represent the establishment of a separate legal entity or dedicated physical facility.

By connecting technology development with institutional research capabilities, the collaboration aims to create a foundation for evaluating diagnostic applications and supporting PurMinds' development and commercialization activities.

Research and education support

Under the collaboration framework, SpectroChip has committed to providing Siaogang Hospital with NT$3 million (about US$94,000) in teaching and research funding over five years, generally at NT$600,000 per year, subject to the applicable agreement and institutional procedures. The funding is intended to support approved educational and research activities, which may include research consumables, testing, equipment maintenance, data analysis, research personnel, training, and academic exchange. The collaboration framework preserves the hospital's independence in its professional, clinical, research, and procurement decisions.

"This collaboration brings together SpectroChip's cutting-edge photonic chip technology, Siaogang Hospital's clinical research environment and PurMinds' precision-medicine platform and commercialization strategy," said Janet Qi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PurMinds. "Given the full-spectrum spectrometry embedded in our platform and its potential to develop an extended catalog of testing items, our vision is to connect with clinically relevant testing applications and the research needed to evaluate them."

"For over two decades, our team has worked to miniaturize spectrometer technology and make quantitative analysis possible through our proprietary photonic chip technology. This collaboration with PurMinds and Siaogang Hospital represents an important opportunity to bring our technology into a structured clinical research environment, where diagnostic performance and testing workflows can be systematically evaluated," said Dr. Cheng-Hao (Kevin) Ko, founder of SpectroChip and inventor of the SwiftLab Platform.

"Collaboration between healthcare institutions, technology developers, and market integrators is important to the responsible evaluation of emerging diagnostic technologies. We look forward to supporting appropriate teaching and research activities, evaluating diagnostic performance under approved study protocols, and contributing clinical perspectives to the development of point-of-care testing. All research activities will be conducted in accordance with applicable ethical, institutional, and regulatory requirements," said Chih-Hsing Hung, MD, PhD, Dean of Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital.

About PurMinds Enterprises, Inc.

PurMinds Enterprises, Inc. (OTC: PFSF) exists to close the gap between precise answers from a central laboratory, which arrive days after the patient has gone home, and fast answers from rapid tests, which offer a single faint "yes or no" line and nothing more. At the heart of its SwiftLab™ Platform is a full-spectrum, laboratory-grade spectrometer shrunk onto a photonic chip and housed inside the SpectroCision™ SPU-D100, a fully portable reader small enough to carry anywhere without the need for recalibration. The platform is designed to turn a low-cost lateral-flow cassette from a faint yes-or-no line into a quantitative result in five minutes or less. That capability stands on 17 peer-reviewed papers, 15 granted patents, and a trade-secret manufacturing process refined over 20 years.

One reader delivers every use case: comprehensive blood testing, veterinary diagnostics, roadside drug intoxication screening, specialized multiplex panels, and pathogen testing, all run on the same SpectroCision reader. Only the low-cost test cassette changes. Clinical uses are subject to regulatory clearance in each market. PurMinds holds an exclusive license to the SwiftLab Platform for the health and safety fields worldwide.

PurMinds began with a single ambition: to treat the brain. A company that means to treat the brain must be able to measure disease progression and therapeutic intervention, repeatedly, cheaply, and wherever the patient is, and that need brought PurMinds and SpectroChip together to build a quantitative point-of-care neurology panel. PurMinds holds its two drug candidates in a wholly owned subsidiary, PurQuest™ Therapeutics: PUR102, a botanical psilocybin, and PUR501, a preclinical non-hallucinogenic neuroplastogen.

The SpectroCision reader and PurMinds cassettes have not been cleared or approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration or licensed by Health Canada and are not available for clinical use in the United States or Canada.
