Largest hunger-relief investment in Foundation history includes $1.3 million for New Jersey as part of a $5 million regional initiative supporting nearly 150 organizations

HOLMDEL, N.J., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The FirstEnergy Foundation is making its largest investment in hunger relief to date, awarding $1.3 million to 25 New Jersey food banks and pantries during Hunger Action Month. The grants are part of a $5 million initiative supporting nearly 150 hunger-relief organizations across six states and the District of Columbia, helping stock local shelves and keeping meals on tables in households facing food insecurity.

The FirstEnergy Foundation is making its largest investment in hunger relief to date, awarding $1.3 million to 25 New Jersey food banks and pantries during Hunger Action Month.

The funding is expected to provide more than 3.8 million meals for families and neighbors across the Garden State, helping food banks and pantries meet growing demand in communities served by Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L).

Funding Organizations on the Front Lines of Hunger Relief

National Hunger Action Month, observed each September, raises awareness of food insecurity and encourages volunteerism, advocacy and charitable giving to help address hunger in local communities. Despite ongoing efforts by food banks and nonprofit organizations, food insecurity remains a significant challenge across the country and in New Jersey.

Feeding America estimates that more than 1.2 million New Jerseyans, or 13% of the population, experienced food insecurity in 2024, including approximately one out of every six children. Across the state, food banks and pantries continue to play a critical role in helping families access nutritious meals as they navigate ongoing economic pressures.

Doug Mokoid, FirstEnergy's President of New Jersey: "No one should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from, especially in a state nicknamed the Garden State. People across New Jersey are feeling real pressure right now. Costs are going up, and food is one more thing stretching household budgets. Food banks and pantries are working every day to meet growing needs, but they can't do it alone. This investment will help provide more than 3.8 million meals for New Jersey families, seniors and children while strengthening the organizations on the front lines of hunger relief. We're proud to support their work and to stand beside them through volunteer service in the communities we call home."

Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director, Project Self-Sufficiency: "The FirstEnergy Foundation has provided invaluable support to Project Self-Sufficiency and the low-income families and individuals we serve. As the need grows, they have been right by our side. Together, we are making a transformational impact on hunger."

Employee Volunteers Help Food Banks Stretch Resources

In addition to the financial support provided by the FirstEnergy Foundation, JCP&L employees regularly volunteer their time to work at food banks, pantries and other nonprofit organizations across New Jersey. Through the company's Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program, employees provide hands-on support that helps organizations serve more families while reducing operating costs.

In 2025, employees contributed approximately 28,500 volunteer hours across FirstEnergy's service territory, including thousands of hours supporting hunger-relief organizations. Based on the 2025 national value of a volunteer hour of $36.14, those efforts represent more than $1 million in additional community support.

Largest hunger relief investment in Foundation history includes $1.2 million for Ohio as part of a $5 million regional initiative supporting 140 organizations

AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The FirstEnergy Foundation is making its largest investment in hunger relief to date, awarding $1.2 million to 29 Ohio food banks and pantries during Hunger Action Month. The funding is expected to provide more than 3.6 million meals for families and neighbors across Ohio, helping food banks and pantries meet growing demand in communities served by Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison.

Funding Organizations on the Front Lines of Hunger Relief

National Hunger Action Month, observed each September, raises awareness of food insecurity and encourages volunteerism, advocacy and charitable giving to help address hunger in local communities. Despite ongoing efforts by food banks and nonprofit organizations, food insecurity remains a significant challenge across the country and in Ohio.

Feeding America estimates that more than 1.8 million Ohioans, or 15.3% of the population, experienced food insecurity in 2024, including approximately 535,000 children. Across the state, food banks and pantries continue to play a critical role in helping families access nutritious meals as they navigate ongoing economic pressures.

Torrence L. Hinton, President, FirstEnergy Ohio: "No one should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. Across Ohio, food banks and pantries are working every day to meet growing needs, but they can't do it alone. This investment will help provide more than 3.6 million meals for families, seniors and children while strengthening the organizations on the front lines of hunger relief. We're proud to support their work and to stand beside them through volunteer service in the communities we call home."

Michelle M. Brown, CEO & President, Children's Hunger Alliance (CHA): "We are thrilled to grow our collaboration with the FirstEnergy Foundation to help children reach their full potential, providing nutritious meals and food education right where they are, every day of the year. Their investment will do more than expand programs — it will drive meaningful, lasting change in childhood nutrition across Northeast Ohio. Together, we can ensure that children have the nourishment they need not only to succeed in school, but to thrive in life. The FirstEnergy Foundation is helping power the solution. CHA is ready to deliver it."

77% of Fleet Drivers Say the Benefits of Safety Technology Outweigh Privacy Concerns, New Linxup Survey Finds

Nearly half of drivers say they or a coworker have benefited from dash cam evidence in an accident dispute, contrasting with fleet leaders' previous privacy and resistance concerns

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A new survey of 267 commercial fleet professionals from Linxup, a GPS fleet tracking and safety technology company, found that 77% of drivers say the benefits of fleet safety tools outweigh privacy concerns, and that drivers value the protection it provides and the accidents it prevents. The findings also point to the broader role of safety culture, with employer safety practices influencing retention, customer trust and day-to-day confidence.

To learn more about Linxup's findings, visit linxup.com/blog/what-drivers-think-about-fleet-safety-technology.

When asked what would make the biggest difference in their day-to-day work, 29% of drivers ranked "protection if something goes wrong" as their top choice, followed by 27% who chose "fewer accidents." Nearly half (44%) of field service professionals say they or a coworker have been involved in an accident where dash cam footage or GPS tracking worked in their favor during an insurance claim or legal dispute. The finding reflects a broader shift in perception. As more drivers see the technology work in their favor, they're increasingly viewing it as a tool that protects them rather than one that monitors them.

"Safety technology is often viewed through the lens of reducing accidents, but drivers are telling us they value technology that can provide an objective record when something goes wrong," said Naeem Bari, founder and chief product officer at Linxup. "Fleet drivers want greater confidence every time they get behind the wheel; that isn't and shouldn't be an impossible ask. Our findings show that protection, accountability, and knowing your company has your back all matter to today's workforce, reinforcing that safety programs work best when technology is positioned as a tool that supports employees, not just company operations."

The research found the impact of fleet safety extends well beyond driver behavior. More than three-quarters (76%) of respondents said how their employer approaches safety influences their decision to stay with a company, while 61% said customers have mentioned their company's safety practices as a reason for doing business with them. Additionally, 42% reported their employer has become more serious about safety over the past year, highlighting safety's growing role in both employee retention and customer confidence.

The survey also found that organizations with formal safety programs see stronger engagement with safety initiatives. Respondents at companies with formal programs reported higher adoption of GPS tracking (80%) and dash cameras (68%) and were more likely to say safety makes them want to stay with their employer compared to those without a formal safety program (49% compared to 38%). Those with a formal safety program also reported more consistent driver feedback and proactive monitoring of accidents and near misses than those at organizations with informal or no safety programs.

Compared with Linxup's 2025 fleet safety research, this year's survey highlights greater alignment between managers and drivers on the value of fleet safety technology. While last year's survey found fleet leaders believed driver privacy concerns were a significant barrier to dash cam adoption, this year's driver survey found that 77% believe the benefits of fleet safety tools outweigh privacy or resistance concerns.

Additional key findings from the survey include:

Safety incentives matter. Eighty-two percent of respondents say tying pay or bonuses to safety scores would motivate them to improve their driving performance, with cash bonuses ranking as the top motivator.

Operational pressures remain a challenge. More than (73%) say real-world job demands make it hard to drive efficiently at least some of the time, including 44.6% who say it happens sometimes and 28.5% who say it happens often. Leadership shares the blame too. 22.5% say management sets safety rules but doesn't follow through, and another 22.5% say rules only change after an incident.

Drivers want communication, not just technology. More than 72% say their employer has explained how GPS tracking or dash cameras affect insurance coverage, reinforcing the importance of transparency around fleet safety tools.

Women were even more likely than men to view fleet safety technology positively. More than 91% of women agreed the benefits of fleet safety tools outweigh privacy or driver resistance concerns, compared to 75% of men. Women were also significantly more likely to say "protection if something goes wrong" would make the biggest difference in their day-to-day work (41% vs. 28%).

The Linxup fleet safety industry survey was conducted in June 2026 among 267 field service professionals across commercial fleets in HVAC, electrical, landscaping, plumbing and other field service industries.

This survey was conducted by Centiment on behalf of Linxup in June 2026. It is based on a survey of 267 field service professionals who are part of a commercial fleet in the United States.

Veteran-owned elite cybersecurity team expands A-LIGN's ability to help organizations move beyond compliance and stay ahead of real-world attackers

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A-LIGN, the leading cybersecurity compliance company, today announced its acquisition of Pathfynder, a specialized offensive and defensive cybersecurity firm. The acquisition expands A-LIGN's service offerings for enterprises looking to strengthen their security posture and reduce the risk of cyberattacks.

The acquisition comes as enterprises face an increasingly costly, fast-moving, and AI-accelerated threat landscape. As attackers grow more sophisticated and persistent, compliance alone is no longer enough. Countering AI-enabled attacks takes both skilled people and advanced technology working together, and organizations need to know if their defenses can hold up against real adversaries.

Pathfynder, a veteran-owned company, employs a team of elite specialists with decades of cybersecurity, military, and intelligence community experience. They provide technical offensive and defensive cybersecurity services including network, cloud, and web application penetration testing, red team and adversary emulation, testing of complex and emerging capabilities, and forensics and incident response.

"Since our inception, A-LIGN has believed in the power of combined compliance and technical cybersecurity services under one roof," said Scott Price, CEO of A-LIGN. "The acquisition of Pathfynder enables A-LIGN to offer customers advanced offensive security services delivered by a team that operates independently from our assurance and assessment practice while leveraging institutional knowledge of the customer to enhance the cybersecurity services.

Pathfynder will remain a highly experienced and specialized team under the A-LIGN parent brand, maintaining its brand as Pathfynder by A-LIGN. This structure preserves the independence between A-LIGN's assurance and assessment teams and Pathfynder's penetration testers to protect the integrity of both functions.

For A-LIGN's more than 6,400 existing customers, it also means access to advanced, real-world security testing from a trusted partner, without the friction of managing another vendor relationship.

"We are excited to join the A-LIGN team and bring our trusted expertise and proven capabilities to their existing suite of services," said DJ Fuller, founder of Pathfynder. "We share the same core values and mission: helping companies close security gaps and meet regulatory requirements, so they can reduce the risk of financial and reputational damage from a cyberattack."

The article explains how to identify common warning signs early and why timely inspection matters after severe weather.

BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What are the most common signs you need roof repair after a storm? HelloNation has published an article that provides clear answers, featuring insights from Roofing Expert Greg English of Red Stick Roofing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Greg English, Owner

The HelloNation article explains that roof damage after a storm is not always easy to spot from the ground, yet it can lead to serious problems if left unchecked. Wind, rain, and debris can weaken roofing materials, making early detection critical. In areas prone to Baton Rouge roof damage, recognizing warning signs quickly can help prevent long-term structural issues and costly repairs.

One of the most common indicators discussed is missing shingles. High winds often cause shingles to be missing or cracked, curled, or loose. The article notes that missing shingles expose the underlying roof to moisture, increasing the risk of leaks. Even when shingles appear intact, subtle lifting can still signal roof damage after a storm that requires attention.

The article also highlights how discoloration can point to problems. Dark patches or uneven coloring may indicate trapped moisture or worn protective granules. Over time, heavy rain can cause roof damage and weaken the roof's surface. Inside the home, water stains on ceilings are often among the first visible signs that damage has progressed beyond the exterior.

Another key issue covered is debris buildup in roof conditions. After storms, debris buildup in roof areas such as valleys and gutters can trap water and block proper drainage. The article explains that debris buildup on the roof can quietly lead to moisture intrusion, especially when combined with heavy rain and roof damage. Clearing debris is an important step in maintaining roof health after severe weather.

The HelloNation article further describes how water intrusion may develop gradually. Signs such as damp insulation, musty odors, or faint dripping sounds can indicate hidden leaks. These issues are often linked to worn flashing or aging sealants that fail during heavy rain or roof damage events. In the article, Roofing Expert Greg English emphasizes that these subtle signs should not be overlooked.

In regions like Baton Rouge, strong storms can cause roof damage without obvious external evidence. The article notes that uneven rooflines or slightly lifted shingles may indicate underlying structural issues. This makes a roof inspection after storm events especially important, even when damage is not immediately visible.

The article stresses that a roof inspection after storm conditions can identify both visible and hidden issues. While homeowners can perform a basic visual check, a professional roof inspection after storm damage is more likely to uncover deeper concerns, such as compromised underlayment. Early detection of roof damage after a storm helps reduce the risk of more extensive repairs later.

In addition, the article explains that combining regular maintenance with timely inspections helps homeowners stay ahead of the risks of Baton Rouge roof damage. By watching for missing shingles, clearing debris buildup in roof areas, and monitoring for water stains on ceiling surfaces, homeowners can take practical steps to protect their property.

The article concludes that understanding the signs of roof damage after a storm allows homeowners to act quickly and confidently. With proper awareness and a proactive approach, it becomes easier to manage roof damage from heavy rain and maintain the home's long-term integrity.

The article explains how flexible pumping solutions help parents balance breastfeeding with changing daily routines.

EMMAUS, Pa., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What is the best breast pump for a busy schedule? A HelloNation article features insights from Breast Pump Expert Patty Gatter of The Breastfeeding Shop in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, explaining how choosing a breast pump that fits changing routines can make breastfeeding easier to manage.

Patty Gatter - CEO & Founder - The Breastfeeding Shop

The article explains that becoming a parent often means adjusting to schedules that change from one day to the next. Meetings may run late, errands take longer than expected, and childcare responsibilities can interrupt carefully planned routines. Choosing a breast pump that supports flexibility instead of adding extra demands can help parents continue breastfeeding while balancing work, family responsibilities, and everyday life.

According to the article, a flexible breast pump is designed to fit into a variety of routines rather than requiring parents to stop everything for each pumping session. Whether pumping while working from home, during breaks at the office, or between appointments, equipment that adapts to changing schedules helps reduce stress and supports a more consistent breastfeeding routine.

The article also highlights the convenience of a wearable breast pump. Unlike traditional systems that often require parents to remain seated near an outlet, wearable options fit inside a nursing bra and provide greater freedom of movement. Parents may be able to answer emails, complete household tasks, prepare simple meals, or care for their baby while pumping, making it easier to use available time efficiently.

Portability is another important feature discussed in the article. A portable breast pump can be especially helpful for parents who commute, travel regularly, or spend much of the day away from home. Lightweight designs that fit easily into a diaper bag, work bag, or backpack make it easier to stay consistent with pumping regardless of where the day leads.

The article emphasizes that comfort should remain a priority when selecting a breast pump. Adjustable suction settings, proper flange sizing, and an easy-to-use design all contribute to a better pumping experience. Comfortable equipment often encourages more consistent pumping, which may better support ongoing breastfeeding goals.

Battery life and noise level are also important considerations covered in the article. Rechargeable batteries that last through multiple pumping sessions reduce the need for frequent charging, while quieter operation can provide additional privacy in workplaces and other shared environments. These practical features often become more valuable as parents settle into their daily routines.

Cleaning and maintenance are equally important. The article explains that wearable breast pumps and portable breast pumps with fewer individual parts may reduce the time spent washing and reassembling equipment after each use. Those small conveniences can make pumping feel more manageable for parents with demanding schedules.

The article also encourages parents to think about their long-term needs instead of focusing only on the first weeks after birth. Family routines often change as babies grow, work responsibilities evolve, and childcare arrangements develop. Choosing a breast pump that continues meeting those changing needs can provide lasting value throughout the breastfeeding journey.

The article concludes that there is no single breast pump that is right for every parent. Some families prioritize portability, while others place greater importance on comfort, quiet operation, or wearable convenience. Carefully considering personal routines, pumping frequency, and daily responsibilities helps narrow the available options and makes choosing a breast pump feel less overwhelming.

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) today announced its acquisition of USave Pharmacy Group, effective September 1, 2026. The acquisition brings together two organizations with a shared commitment to preserving and strengthening independent community pharmacy.

Independent Pharmacy Cooperative Acquires USave Pharmacy Group

For more than 40 years, USave Pharmacy Group has brought independent pharmacy owners together through purchasing opportunities, peer collaboration, dedicated representation and a shared commitment to helping locally owned pharmacies succeed. The acquisition allows IPC to build upon that legacy while maintaining the identity, relationships and sense of community that have defined USave.

"USave was built around pharmacy owners supporting pharmacy owners," said Bill Hamik of USave Pharmacy Group. "Our stores value the relationships, responsiveness and shared identity that come with being part of this group. IPC understands that history and recognizes that USave's identity is something to preserve, not replace. This next chapter will allow our pharmacies to retain what they value about USave while gaining access to additional resources and opportunities for the future."

IPC and USave have worked together for several years. IPC announced an agreement with the Nebraska-based pharmacy group in 2017, establishing a relationship focused on connecting USave pharmacies with IPC resources and purchasing opportunities.

"IPC's purpose has always been to help independent pharmacies remain strong, locally owned and positioned for the future," said Marc Essensa, President and CEO of IPC. "USave shares that purpose. This acquisition is about preserving a respected organization, building on the trust it has earned and bringing additional strength and resources to its pharmacies. We believe USave's history, identity and relationships will remain an important part of its future."

The entire IPC team from Member Service to our Distribution team, from Member Performance to our Government Relations, will continue to support the USave Pharmacy Group as we have since 2017. Kate Helf, IPC Vice President of Pharmacy Innovation, having worked closely with the USave Pharmacy Group for the past 10 years, will be the liaison ensuring continuity throughout the transition.
