Studsvik, GE Vernova Hitachi and Samsung C&T commit to advancing 1.2 GW nuclear power project in Sweden

- Following a competitive evaluation process, Studsvik has selected GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Samsung C&T as its strategic partners for the first project to build new nuclear power, either at its existing licensed nuclear site in or at the Målma site in Valdemarsvik.

- Together with GE Vernova Financial Services and DS Investment Partners, the companies will advance an initial four-unit BWRX-300 project in Sweden, totalling 1.2 GW of new nuclear generating capacity, with the first unit expected in operation in the mid-2030s.

/PRNewswire/ -- Studsvik AB (publ), GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy, GE Vernova Financial Services, DS Investment Partners and Samsung C&T today announced an agreement to advance the ReFirm nuclear programme at Studsvik's sites in Sweden. The agreement is exclusive for a fixed period, which the parties may extend.

ReFirm is a multi-site small modular reactor (SMR) and new nuclear development program that became part of the Studsvik Group through the acquisition of Kärnfull Next (KNXT) earlier this year. KNXT has worked with GE Vernova Hitachi on BWRX-300 deployment in Sweden since 2022 and entered a strategic teaming agreement with Samsung C&T in December 2024. Today's announcement covers sites at Nyköping and Valdemarsvik and provides for development to commence with a four-unit BWRX-300 project of approximately 1,200 MWe in total at one of them.

At Nyköping, Studsvik operates an existing licensed nuclear facility. At Valdemarsvik, an application was submitted in March 2026, the first made under Sweden's new legislation requiring government approval for nuclear facilities. Which site hosts the first project will be decided during the development work.

The phased, multi-unit structure is intended to support standardisation across the programme and creates opportunities to capture lessons learned from early deployment and apply them to subsequent units, helping improve cost, schedule and productivity outcomes.

It will also help maximise Swedish industrial participation throughout engineering, procurement, construction, and long-term operations. This reflects the broader objective of building a supply chain that can support not only the first project, but also follow-on units and wider deployment opportunities in Sweden and Europe.

Studsvik has worked in nuclear technology for more than 75 years, and that capability is what a new plant needs to get through design, qualification and commissioning. Beyond any equity participation, a domestic new-build programme of this scale is expected to create long-term opportunities for Studsvik's services over the operating life of the plants.

The agreement marks the next phase of development and does not constitute a final investment decision or authorisation to construct. The parties will begin joint development work immediately, including commercial, technical, regulatory and financing activities during the exclusivity period.

Studsvik leads permitting, the environmental impact assessment, site rights, community engagement and the dialogue with the Swedish state. GE Vernova Hitachi leads reactor design, licensing support and cost estimation and acts as design authority, and, together with Samsung C&T, acts as the execution team, giving the project single-point responsibility for design and construction delivery. During the exclusivity period, DS Investment Partners, a South Korean investment firm, will lead the investment and GE Vernova Financial Services participates in an advisory and financial structuring capacity in support of the consortium.

A joint project company will be established to support development, financing, construction, ownership and operation of the plants, with details to be finalised in definitive agreements.

Sweden is expanding nuclear capacity under legislation in force since 2026 that permits reactors at sites beyond the three existing plants and requires government approval for each, supported by a state financing framework of loans and two-way contracts for difference.

September 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sceye, ein US-amerikanisches Unternehmen aus den Bereichen Luft- und Raumfahrt sowie Materialwissenschaften, das sich auf High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) für Telekommunikation und Echtzeit-Umweltüberwachung spezialisiert hat, gab heute den erfolgreichen transpazifischen Flug seiner Mission Service Test 1 (ST1) von New Mexico nach Japan bekannt. Nach einer Reise von mehr als 15 000 km durch die Stratosphäre in 13 Tagen demonstrierte ST1 bei seiner Ankunft über Japan mobile Breitbandkonnektivität mit unveränderten Endgeräten über das Kernnetz der SoftBank Corp. sowie HAPS-basiertes Edge-Computing und die Kommunikation mit Drohnen, um die Entwicklung eines 3D-Kommunikationsnetzwerks zu unterstützen.

ST1 wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit SoftBank Corp. (TOKIO:9434, „SoftBank"), einem führenden Anbieter von Telekommunikations- und IT-Dienstleistungen in Japan sowie weltweit, durchgeführt und markiert den ersten Flug von Sceye nach Asien sowie einen wegweisenden Meilenstein auf dem Weg zum kommerziellen Einsatz von HAPS als stratosphärische Infrastruktur.

Die Stratosphäre bietet eine ideale Ausgangslage: Sie ist der Erde nahe genug für leistungsfähige Konnektivität und Beobachtung, zugleich aber hoch genug für eine weiträumige Abdeckung. Wichtig ist, dass die Stratosphäre weltraumähnliche Bedingungen bietet, ohne dass die Kosten eines Aufenthalts im Weltraum und die Nachteile einer Umlaufbahn entstehen. Die HAPS von Sceye halten über aufeinanderfolgende Tag- und Nachtzyklen hinweg ihre Flughöhe, verbleiben in ihrem Einsatzgebiet in der Stratosphäre und funktionieren dabei wie geostationäre Satelliten, befinden sich jedoch 1800-mal näher an der Erde und verursachen nur einen Bruchteil der Kosten.

Im Jahr 2025 hat SoftBank Corp. in die HAPS-basierte stratosphärische Infrastruktur von Sceye investiert, um diese als skalierbare Lösung zur Ergänzung terrestrischer Mobilfunkmasten und Satellitenkonstellationen zu nutzen. Die strategische Partnerschaft treibt die gemeinsame Vision voran, HAPS und nicht-terrestrische Netze (NTN) als transformative Infrastruktur zu nutzen, um die Konnektivität auszubauen, die Kommunikation im Katastrophenfall zu unterstützen sowie künftige Anwendungen in den Bereichen KI, IoT, luftgestützte Kommunikation, Edge-Computing und 6G zu ermöglichen.

ST1 transportierte SceyeCELL, den ersten „Mobilfunkmast am Himmel" seiner Art, der Standardgeräte aus der Stratosphäre direkt großflächig mit mobilem Breitband versorgen soll. Im Vollbetrieb ist ein Sceye-HAPS auf eine Abdeckung ausgelegt, die etwa der von 500 terrestrischen Mobilfunkmasten entspricht. Im Rahmen der ST1-Mission demonstrierten Sceye und SoftBank mobiles Breitband aus der Stratosphäre, darunter SMS, Sprachanrufe, Internetzugang sowie Videostreaming. Die Tests umfassten auch Notrufe unter Verwendung eines für Großkatastrophen konzipierten Notfallwarnsystems sowie die Kommunikation mit Drohnen.

Die ST1-Mission von Sceye startete am 9. August 2026 um 7:00 Uhr MDT von New Mexico aus. Weitere bemerkenswerte Eckdaten der Mission:

- In 13 Tagen mehr als 15 000 km über den Pazifik nach Japan zurückgelegt

- Über 7 Tage lang im von Japan verwalteten Luftraum im Einsatz

- Hielt sich über einen längeren Zeitraum ununterbrochen in seinem Einsatzgebiet auf und erreichte bei der Positionshaltung einen Radius von nur 5 km

- Wurde in etwa 16,5 km Höhe betrieben und dabei für Telekommunikation, Kommunikation mit Drohnen sowie Notfallkommunikation eingesetzt

- Bestätigte eine mit terrestrischen Netzen vergleichbare Kommunikationsleistung bei gleichzeitiger Verringerung von Funkinterferenzen mit bodengestützten Basisstationen

- Mithilfe eines auf dem HAPS installierten Servers führten Sceye und SoftBank die Datenverarbeitung direkt auf der Plattform durch und erzielten dabei eine durchschnittliche Round-Trip-Reaktionszeit von 68 Millisekunden, wodurch sich die Kommunikationslatenz gegenüber der internetbasierten Cloud-Verarbeitung um mehr als 40 % verringerte. Damit wurde weltweit erstmals ein Test erfolgreich durchgeführt, bei dem ein Mobilfunkkernnetz sowie ein Webserver zur Datenverarbeitung auf einem HAPS installiert wurden, sodass die Antwortverarbeitung vollständig an Bord des HAPS erfolgen und die Ergebnisse an Smartphones zurückgesendet werden konnten.

ST1 befindet sich weiterhin im Flug und kehrt zum Zeitpunkt dieser Bekanntgabe über den Pazifik in Richtung der Vereinigten Staaten zurück.

Desde su lanzamiento en 2014, el Lexus NX se ha ganado el reconocimiento de clientes de todo el mundo por su ágil comportamiento en conducción urbana, su elegante diseño y otras cualidades distintivas. Mejoras clave del sistema para los modelos NX híbridos e híbridos enchufables

El nuevo sistema utiliza un conjunto de eje eléctrico (e-Axle) que integra el transaxle, el motor y la unidad de control de potencia (PCU). El resultado es un conjunto más compacto y ligero, lo que contribuye a rebajar el centro de gravedad del vehículo. Se consigue una mayor eficiencia gracias a la mejora de la electrónica del sistema de transmisión y a la incorporación de semiconductores de potencia de SiC (carburo de silicio) en el inversor.

El NX 450h+ está equipado con una batería de iones de litio de nuevo desarrollo que ofrece un aumento del 8 % en la potencia y del 30 % en la capacidad. Las versiones PHEV también incluyen ahora de serie la recarga rápida de corriente continua y una tapa para el puerto de recarga rápida.

Al cambiar la disposición de las celdas de la batería, pasando de la disposición longitudinal convencional a una transversal, se ha aumentado la rigidez lateral en toda la carrocería, mientras que la posición más baja de montaje de la batería permite conseguir un centro de gravedad más bajo.

El sistema híbrido rediseñado también cuenta con una gestión mejorada de la energía de la batería. Un mayor uso de la energía de la batería durante la aceleración evita que el motor alcance un régimen excesivo, lo que permite que las revoluciones por minuto del motor aumenten de forma más sincronizada con la velocidad del vehículo, proporcionando una sensación de aceleración más lineal.

„Der Deutsche Radiopreis 2026 - Die große deutschlandweite Radioshow“ feiert nicht nur die aktuellen Preisträger und Musik-Acts auf der Bühne. Die Liebe zum Radio – mit all seinen Besonderheiten und Stärken – ist der rote Faden des Abends.

Built for professional crews, the range combines the speed and driving force users expect from pneumatic fastening with the freedom and flexibility of cordless operation in a lightweight design comparable to a gas nailer.

Professionals across Europe are under growing pressure to complete demanding work efficiently while managing tighter schedules, mobility requirements and persistent workflow interruptions. Traditional gas tools require cartridges and expensive ongoing maintenance, while pneumatic systems add setup, transport and hose-management demands. HiKOKI's next generation cordless nailer platform is designed to remove those barriers without sacrificing the fastening performance professionals rely on – and they're the lightest and fastest battery nailers in the market.

At the centre of the platform is HiKOKI Air Spring Drive System Plus™, which stores and releases compressed air within the tool itself, delivering fast response, consistent driving power and pneumatic-style performance without an external compressor or hose. The system combines an optimised drive mechanism with advanced tabless battery technology to support faster cycle times, smoother operation and consistent power.

These nailers are built to outperform and the result is measurable on the jobsite. The new framing nailers fire up to 4.5 nails per second, and up to 5.0 nails per second on a tabless MultiVolt battery, compared with two to three nails per second for most cordless and gas nailers. Trigger response is 43 milliseconds, the fastest of any non-pneumatic nailer and close to half the response time of the nearest cordless competitor. Each framing nailer delivers approximately 700 nails per 18V 5.0Ah charge across a 50 to 90 mm fastener range.

Lightweight design for all day work. At 3.9 kg including battery, the 30° to 34° framing nailer is the lightest 18V cordless framing nailer in its class, more than a kilogram below the 5 to 5.3 kg cordless tools most crews carry today. Magnesium housing, chamber, nose and magazine replace the plastic and aluminum construction of the previous generation, reducing strain across a full day of overhead and repetitive work.

Interchangeable magazines add versatility. Compatible strip nailer models can be configured for framing, metal connector, and duplex fastening applications using the appropriate magazine assemblies. This gives professionals greater flexibility across different tasks while staying on the same battery platform.

Lower running costs eliminates the need for ongoing gas cartridge purchases, helping to reduce running costs. With no gas combustion or combustion chamber, there is no carbon build-up, no combustion-related cleaning cycle, and no fumes to manage. It also removes the need to purchase, store or replace flammable fuel cartridges, making it a cleaner and more convenient solution, particularly when working in enclosed spaces.

Routine maintenance has been simplified to help reduce downtime and improve serviceability. The platform has been engineered to make key wear components easier to replace compared to conventional systems, helping professionals stay productive on the jobsite.
