POTOMAC FALLS, Va., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- At a time when destination organizations are facing growing scrutiny of public funding, shifting political priorities, economic uncertainty and increasing expectations from residents and stakeholders, the ability to advocate effectively has never been more important.

On September 16, 2026, Destinations International (DI), the world's leading association representing destination organizations and convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs), will bring together destination leaders, public officials, policy experts and industry partners for its second global Virtual Advocacy Day, a must-attend global program designed to help destination professionals navigate this increasingly complex environment.

The message behind the event is simple: advocacy is no longer optional.

"Destination leaders today are operating in an environment where funding, public perception and political support can change remarkably quickly," said Don Welsh, president & CEO of Destinations International. "We cannot wait until a challenge emerges to begin making the case for our work. We need strong relationships, credible data, compelling messages and trusted advocates already in place. Virtual Advocacy Day is about giving destination leaders the knowledge and tools to be ready, confident and effective."

The one-day virtual global program, running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, has been designed to move beyond theory and focus on the real-world challenges destination organizations are confronting now.

Participants will hear from destination leaders, policymakers and experts on issues including:

- Policy That Performs: Funding Tourism While Protecting Place, examining tourism levies, taxes and policies that can create sustainable funding while balancing economic growth and community well-being.

- Building Consensus: How Destination Leaders Turn Relationships into Results, exploring how trust, listening and sustained relationship-building can transform stakeholders into advocates.

- Weathering the Storm: What 30 Years of Downturns Teach DMOs About Surviving the Next One, identifying lessons from decades of recessions, funding crises and industry disruptions and what leaders should be doing now to prepare.

- The Missing Partner in Destination Development, examining why stronger relationships between destination organizations and city planners can help shape infrastructure, development and the future of communities.

- The Politics of Destination Funding: Advocacy, Influence & Strategy, providing destination professionals with a clearer understanding of advocacy, lobbying and electioneering and how organizations can appropriately engage policymakers.

- Building Your Destination's Advocacy First Aid Kit, a practical session designed to help organizations assemble the relationships, research, proof points, messages and internal roles they need before the next challenge arrives.

Virtual Advocacy Day will also feature the unveiling of the 2026 Tourism Lexicon and Social Impact Lexicon, providing new insights into the words, messages and concepts that resonate with stakeholders today. The research is designed to help destination organizations communicate more effectively with elected officials, residents, board members, business leaders and the media, replacing industry terminology with language that connects tourism to the issues communities care about most.

"Advocacy is ultimately about relevance and trust," said Andreas Weissenborn, senior vice president, advocacy & destination advancement at Destinations International. "Destination organizations need to understand what matters to their communities and demonstrate how their work contributes to those priorities. This program is designed so participants do not simply leave with ideas. They leave with strategies and tools they can begin using immediately."

CEOs and destination leaders are encouraged to participate alongside their government affairs, communications and community engagement teams and to invite board members, elected officials, public-sector partners and other community stakeholders to join them.

The virtual format makes it possible for entire teams and stakeholders to participate without the cost or time associated with travel, creating an opportunity for organizations to develop a shared understanding of what effective destination advocacy looks like.

Virtual Advocacy Day is part of Destinations International's Advocacy & Action initiative and is supported by the Destinations International Foundation, Chase Travel, Civitas and Granicus Destinations.

We Card Awareness Month Spotlights Retailers' Role in Preventing Underage Sales
Image File
Original HTML

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- During We Card Awareness Month this September, all retailers are encouraged to sharpen their employee training and reinforce compliance efforts as FDA enforcement of age-restricted product sales remains a critical focus.

Now in its 31st year, The We Card Program celebrates Awareness Month by spotlighting smart and practical steps retailers can take to help prevent underage purchase attempts of tobacco, vapor and nicotine pouch products.

"September's We Card Awareness Month is the time to ramp up and renew retailer compliance efforts on federal law and FDA requirements as well as state and local requirements for responsibly retailing age-restricted products," said David Spross, Executive Director of the National Association of Tobacco Outlets and a We Card board member.

We Card's campaign continues to reflect a broad, industry-wide commitment to responsible retailing across all trade channels. Public support efforts — including Governors' Proclamations and Letters of Support from a growing list of states, remain an invaluable part of raising visibility during this month, reinforcing the importance of preventing youth access to restricted products.

"We Card represents a shared commitment across the retail community, and Awareness Month is a chance to highlight the year-round work retailers do to card customers, train employees, and help prevent underage access to tobacco, vaping and nicotine pouch products," said Doug Anderson, president of The We Card Program, Inc. "Public recognition from state leaders helps amplify that message and underscores the value of retailer compliance efforts in communities nationwide."

5 Steps Retailers Should Take During We Card Awareness Month

We Card recommends retailers focus on five key action items this September:

- Train new employees and retrain experienced staff

Make sure all newly hired employees receive thorough training, and use Awareness Month as a reminder to refresh veteran employee knowledge as well. Training should cover FDA retailer requirements, applicable state and local laws, and practical scenarios involving age verification, carding, and ID scanning where applicable.

- Update training tools and in-store signage

Retailers should review current training materials and signage to ensure stores are using the most up-to-date tools available to help prevent underage sales. A seasonal refresh of signs, policy reminders, and employee reference materials can help keep compliance expectations visible and top of mind.

- Measure employee and store performance

Compliance programs are strongest when they include a way to verify performance. Retailers should consider mystery shopping checks or similar assessments to confirm employees are consistently carding customers or scanning IDs according to store policy.

We Card's ID Check-Up program remains one option for retailers looking to evaluate how well store teams are following procedures, using age-eligible mystery shoppers and online reporting tools.

- Review store procedures against recognized best practices

This is also the perfect time to compare current store procedures against We Card's Guide to Best Practices. Reviewing policies, employee training, signage, and verification procedures can help identify gaps and strengthen day-to-day compliance.

Retailers can access the free guide by completing a brief survey.

- Continue to raise awareness of social sourcing

In addition to direct retail sales prevention of underage access, We Card continues to call attention to the problem of social sourcing — when underage individuals obtain tobacco, vaping or nicotine pouch products through others. Research shows youth often report acquiring these products through social means, such as gifting, proxy purchasing, sharing, borrowing, or "bumming" from of-age individuals.

We Card encourages retailers to support education efforts around this issue through in-store awareness materials and messaging aimed at discouraging adults from purchasing or providing tobacco, vapor and nicotine pouch products to underage individuals.

Make September a Compliance Checkpoint

We Card Awareness Month is an annual reminder that responsible retailing requires more than a one-time training session. Strong compliance comes from continuing to train employees, reinforce store policies, measure performance and adapt as requirements and technology evolve.

September provides retailers with a natural checkpoint to ask a simple question: Are we doing everything we can to prevent underage sales?

By strengthening training, reinforcing age-verification practices, measuring store performance and addressing social sourcing, retailers can turn Awareness Month into action that lasts throughout the year.

THOR INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL LEADERSHIP CHANGES PERTAINING TO THE STRATEGIC EVOLUTION OF ITS NORTH AMERICAN RV OPERATING MODEL
Image File
Original HTML

ELKHART, Ind., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- THOR Industries, Inc. (NYSE: THO), the world's largest manufacturer of recreational vehicles, today announced further leadership changes as a part of the previously announced evolution of its North American RV operating model to amplify the identified benefits of this evolution across our North American RV companies.

Effective immediately, Ken Walters, President of Jayco and leader of the Jayco and Tiffin Motorhomes group, will assume the role of President of North American RV operations. Walters will report to THOR executive management in Elkhart and will coordinate North American RV operations across all of THOR's operating companies as they implement and build upon the initiatives of THOR's North American RV Group operating model. Nic Martin, Vice President of Sales at Jayco, will become President of Jayco. Martin brings an extensive background to the role in the sales and operations of Jayco and is well positioned to keep Jayco on its successful path within the industry.

"Ken has done an outstanding job as President of Jayco, guiding a highly respected towable and motorized brand through a difficult market while putting dealers and retail customers first. Early successes of the Jayco and Tiffin Motorhomes group are promising, and we are eager to amplify those successes across all of our North American RV entities," said Bob Martin, President and CEO of THOR.

As THOR's leadership teams within the previously announced two RV groups evaluated their approach to achieving benefits of consolidation, it became clear that unified coordination of execution across North American RV would bring the enterprise more benefits on an accelerated timeline. For THOR going forward, there will be three distinct operating groups: North American RV, European, and Supply.

"We are proud of the work that our leadership teams have done as we work towards achieving the objectives of our evolved North American RV operating model and begin realizing its expected benefits," stated Bob Martin. "Our structure has been decentralized for decades, so this is an involved process but one with potentially significant benefits and cost savings as its outcome. As our leadership teams within the two RV groups worked through the evaluation phase of this process during the previous two quarters, it became clear to us that we could achieve a greater magnitude of benefits with additional coordination across all of our RV companies that will position THOR to deliver positive benefits for our dealer partners and retail customers, address affordability and enhance our margin profile."

To further advance this objective of amplifying benefits across our North American RV group, Mike Ritchie, Vice President of Finance at Jayco, will become CFO of North American RV operations. Ritchie will fill a pivotal role with a focus on financial performance and aligning synergistic initiatives across the THOR North American RV operations. Ritchie will continue to report to Colleen Zuhl, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of THOR. Walters and Ritchie will remain heavily involved with the operational and financial performance of the North American RV group at the local level, ensuring operational excellence and the successful implementation of key initiatives.

Trey Miller, Vice President of Marketing at Jayco, will be promoted to Chief Marketing Officer of the THOR North American RV operations. Prior to joining Jayco, Miller served in lead marketing positions with both Dometic and Stag Parkway. In his new role, Miller will be the manager of the marketing teams across the THOR North American RV operations.

Additionally, Troy James, currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Thor Motor Coach and Keystone group, will become President of Keystone. James brings an extensive operational background to the role, with both North American and European sales and operational experience. James will continue his focus of enhancing organizational performance and reestablishing Keystone's prominent position within the industry.

"We are extremely excited about the direction that our North American RV operating model has taken," said Todd Woelfer, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of THOR. "Our operating companies have taken this challenge head-on and identified a path towards enhanced synergies and structural improvements that further the alignment of our operating companies. We are focused on realizing the benefits of our evolved operating model, driving out costs within the Company to strengthen our earnings profile and continue leading the industry in addressing the affordability concerns of RV retail customers. We will not simply stand by and pass rising costs on to pressured retail customers and dealers while waiting for an inflection at the retail level. We believe it is essential to our long-term positioning to prioritize the health of the retail market rather than abdicate responsibility. The strength of our leadership teams and the initiatives we are implementing will make us a key component of the solutions to the challenges facing our industry."

RACINE, Wis., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Modine (NYSE: MOD), a diversified global leader in thermal management technology and solutions, today announced that it will become Modexus Solutions after completing the spinoff of its Performance Technologies business and merger with Gentherm. Under applicable law, the name change will be subject to approval by Modine's shareholders. Once effective, Modexus Solutions will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under Modine's current ticker symbol, "MOD."

The new name reflects the company's position as a diversified thermal management company serving high-growth markets, including data center cooling, commercial HVAC and refrigeration. The Modexus Solutions name was selected to carry forward Modine's century-long heritage while underscoring the company's leadership in innovative, connected thermal systems and solutions.

"Modexus Solutions captures who we are: a company that combines deep thermal management expertise with the innovation and agility required to help customers solve increasingly complex challenges," said Neil D. Brinker, Modine President and Chief Executive Officer. "Through our 80/20 framework, we will continue to evolve our portfolio of products toward fit-for-purpose systems that maximize performance and reduce resource usage."

The transaction, which was overwhelmingly approved by Gentherm shareholders at a special meeting held on September 10, 2026, is currently expected to close on October 1, 2026, subject to the satisfaction or waiver of customary closing conditions. Upon closing, Modexus Solutions will continue to be led by Neil D. Brinker and Michael (Mick) Lucareli as CEO and CFO, respectively, and the current Board of Directors.

"We congratulate the Gentherm team on reaching this milestone, and we thank our Performance Technologies employees for their continued dedication as we move toward closing," Brinker added. "We believe this transaction will create two stronger companies, each better positioned to serve its end markets, accelerate growth and drive long-term value for shareholders, customers and employees."

The Company expects to call a special meeting of stockholders to vote on the proposed name change within three months following the closing of the transaction. Details of the meeting will be announced at a later date.

Arkansas Kidney Champion Bob Abbott Enters Hall of Fame

Largest USA Kidney Group Hails Pine Bluff Hometown Hero

Little Rock Hosts Kidney Patient Meeting on Science, AI, New Treatments

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), the nation's oldest and largest independent and nonpartisan kidney patient advocacy organization, began its 51st annual National Patient Meeting September 10 – 13, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas, with the induction of a well-known Arkansas kidney disease educator and advocate to its Kidney Advocate Hall of Fame – Bob Abbott of Pine Bluff.

Abbott, owner and manager of Abbott Enterprises Inc. in Pine Bluff, was inducted into the AAKP Kidney Advocate Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class of nationally respected influencers in kidney research and innovation. Abbott was honored for five decades of kidney advocacy alongside medical experts, federal officials, patient advocates, and researchers. The ceremony took place at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center during AAKP's Policy Forum session. The AAKP National Patient Meeting, an in-person and online event, includes over 30 top kidney disease and treatment innovation experts. Admission and meals are free to kidney patients, family members, care partners, and living organ donors. Pre-registration is easy throughout the event for in-person walk-in attendees or online at https://bit.ly/AAKPNPM.

AAKP's Hall of Fame tribute to Abbott includes the language: "In recognition of more than five decades of extraordinary, selfless service on behalf of kidney patients and their families, unwavering commitment to improving care access and opportunity for all patients, and to make certain elected leaders respect the voices of patients. A Lifetime of Impact – A Legacy of Effective Advocacy." His extraordinary volunteer service has earned national recognition, including a President's Volunteer Service Award in 2020, following his nomination by AAKP, and the President's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, after AAKP again recommended him for the honor. The Lifetime Achievement Award represents the highest level of presidential recognition for volunteer service.

Abbott's advocacy began when his father, Floyd Abbott, developed kidney failure at a time when access to life-sustaining dialysis was severely limited and financially out of reach for many families. The Abbott family purchased a dialysis machine to keep his father alive—an experience that motivated Bob to fight so that other families would not face the same barriers to care. In Arkansas, Bob proposed legislation that led to the creation of the Arkansas Kidney Disease Commission in 1971, one of the nation's earliest state efforts to assist people with kidney failure, and he served as one of its original members. He also became a founding member of the National Kidney Foundation of Arkansas. At the federal level, Bob and his family helped bring the realities of kidney failure and the promise of dialysis to the attention of influential policymakers, including House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Wilbur Mills, as momentum grew for the landmark 1972 legislation extending Medicare coverage to people with kidney failure.

AAKP President Edward V. Hickey, III, a chronic kidney disease patient, stated, "Bob's story is a powerful reminder of the impact a family caregiver can have far beyond their own family. What began as a fight to save his father's life became a lifetime commitment to ensuring that kidney patients across America have access to lifesaving care, a voice in the decisions that affect them, and the opportunity to live longer and better lives. And it is especially meaningful to honor Bob, a fine American and true patriot, here in his home state of Arkansas." Hickey is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, a former senior Congressional aide, and has served in appointed roles in two presidential administrations. He currently serves on the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Nephrology Specialty Board and as the Chair of the AAKP Veterans Health Initiative.

AAKP Vice President and Chair of Policy Paul T. Conway, a 49-year kidney patient and 29-year transplant recipient, stated, "Bob Abbott's service reflects his empathy for his fellow human beings, the depth of his character and his faith. AAKP held our first Policy Forum at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in 2011 at Bob's suggestion, marking the first time a national kidney group spotlighted the linkage between status quo kidney dialysis care and patient unemployment. Bob has been a fearless champion for principled public policy and medical innovation as a means for ending dependency, economic insecurity, and preventable death." Conway is a former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Labor and served as the inaugural Chair of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Patient Engagement Advisory Committee (PEAC). He was honored by former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson as an Arkansas Traveler for his work to improve kidney care and the well-being of Arkansas residents.

AAKP provides advocacy skills and social media training for patients and organ donors through its Center for Patient Engagement and Advocacy and National Patient Meeting with a faculty of allied government affairs and political experts. AAKP advocates help advance kidney community efforts, coordinated by the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) (view report), to expand Congressional appropriations and taxpayer investments in kidney science and research by up to $1.8 billion, through the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Department of Defense. AAKP is committed to American leadership in the discovery of safe, next-generation kidney technologies while counteracting the pacing threat of communist China and its state-orchestrated efforts to dominate biotech, manipulate the drug supply chain, and limit patient choice.

Follow AAKP on social media at @kidneypatient on Facebook, @kidneypatients on X, and @kidneypatients on Instagram, and visit http://www.aakp.org for more information. AAKP patient advocates advance bipartisan kidney policy including: passage of the bipartisan law modernizing the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) (2023); lifetime transplant drug coverage for kidney patients (2020); the historic Executive Order on Advancing American Kidney Health signed by President Donald Trump (2019); job protections for living organ donors under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) via the U.S. Department of Labor (2018); and Congressional approval of HIV positive organ transplants for HIV positive patients (2013).

Carlsquare Advises DryvIQ on its Acquisition by Nasuni
Image File
Original HTML

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Carlsquare has advised DryvIQ, a leader in intelligent unstructured data management, on its acquisition by Nasuni, the unstructured data platform for enterprise teams and AI. The acquisition adds AI-powered content intelligence and governance capabilities to the Nasuni File Data Platform — including content-level discovery and classification, sensitivity detection, and automated policy-driven governance — giving organizations greater visibility and control over unstructured data, not just within Nasuni, but across more than 40 cloud and on-premises repositories.

"Our customers are looking to us for help with data strategies to support safe AI access in a world of rising infrastructure costs. To meet that need, this year we've added best-in-class edge performance with Resilio, permission-aware AI access with AI Activate, and now content intelligence and governance with DryvIQ," said Nick Burling, Chief Product Officer at Nasuni. "With UniFS as the foundation, no other solution manages, moves, classifies, governs, and activates enterprise file data in a single platform. Customers have been attempting to stitch together a solution across multiple vendors for years. Now Nasuni provides one platform to manage, protect, and activate unstructured data with proven impact on both cost reduction and productivity gains."

"Organizations are increasingly focused on turning unstructured data into a strategic asset, but content is scattered across dozens of repositories, and most of it has never been classified," said Mark Brazeau, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at DryvIQ. "By joining Nasuni, we can bring our content intelligence and governance capabilities directly into a cloud-native file platform, giving customers a single, governed foundation to classify, protect, and activate data wherever it lives."

Matt Doyle, President at DryvIQ, added: "Joining Nasuni puts DryvIQ's AI-powered content intelligence and governance inside the platform where enterprise data already lives, giving customers a single, governed foundation to classify, manage, protect, and activate that data. Susan Blanco and her team at Carlsquare have extensive knowledge of the relevant data software landscape, and that made a real difference in the outcome for our shareholders

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
