Nomadar Enters into Definitive Agreement to Acquire Majority Interest in Fox Soccer Academy

Transaction Strengthens Nomadar's International Soccer Development Platform Across the U.S., Spain, U.K. and Europe

MARSHALL, Texas, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nomadar Corp. ("Nomadar" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: NOMA), a Nasdaq-listed global sports, tourism, technology, and experiential infrastructure company, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority interest in Fox Soccer Academy ("FSA"), a leading international youth soccer organization co-founded by former Premier League champion Christian Fuchs and sports executive Raluca Gold-Fuchs.

Fox Soccer Academy operates across key markets in the United States, including New York and North Carolina, as well as in the United Kingdom and Austria. The academy serves approximately 2,100 players across its network and has developed a structured youth soccer platform focused on competitive player development, elite coaching standards and international exposure.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, subject to customary closing conditions, completion of remaining corporate and transaction structure matters, and final closing deliverables.

The definitive agreement follows the strategic framework agreement previously announced by Nomadar and Fox Soccer Academy on May 6, 2026, and reflects the work carried out by both organizations over recent months. Since the signing of that initial strategic agreement, Nomadar and FSA have completed a comprehensive due diligence process covering FSA's operating structure, player development programs, international footprint, coaching methodology, commercial model and potential integration opportunities with Nomadar's global sports development ecosystem.

Following completion of the transaction, Christian Fuchs and Raluca Gold-Fuchs will remain as partners in Fox Soccer Academy and will continue to play an active role in the development, expansion and long-term strategy of the academy alongside Nomadar.

Founded by Christian Fuchs, a 2016 English Premier League champion with Leicester City FC, and Raluca Gold-Fuchs, Fox Soccer Academy offers programs for boys and girls across multiple age groups, including youth academy training, camps, clinics, showcase events, international development programs and football-and-education pathways. Its model combines a Premier League-inspired curriculum with technical, tactical, physical and personal development, supported by licensed coaches and a long-term approach to player progression.

The acquisition expands Nomadar's presence in the United States, where the Company has been working for the past two years with North American players through international development initiatives connecting the U.S. market with Spain and Cádiz Club de Fútbol, a professional football club within the LaLiga ecosystem. Through Cádiz CF, Nomadar has developed a professional club anchor for its international High Performance Training ("HPT") programs, providing a structured pathway for young players with professional aspirations.

By adding Fox Soccer Academy to its platform, Nomadar strengthens its position in the U.S. through FSA's presence in New York and North Carolina, while also expanding its European reach through FSA's operations in the United Kingdom and Austria. The transaction enhances Nomadar's ability to connect players, families, coaches and clubs across the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom and continental Europe through a more integrated international soccer development model.

The transaction also brings together complementary methodologies from two of the world's leading football cultures: the Premier League-inspired development curriculum of Fox Soccer Academy and the Spanish football methodology represented through Nomadar's HPT platform, Cádiz CF and LaLiga. With Spain currently recognized as the reigning FIFA World Cup champion, Nomadar believes the combination of elite English and Spanish football development approaches creates a differentiated platform for youth development, performance training, international programs and sports tourism.

"The signing of this definitive agreement marks a very important step in Nomadar's international expansion strategy," said Joaquín Martín, CEO of Nomadar. "Fox Soccer Academy brings a recognized international footprint, a strong development methodology and an operating presence in markets that are strategically important for Nomadar. This transaction continues the progress Nomadar has already been building between the United States and Spain, with Cádiz CF as a professional club anchor and HPT as a methodology designed to support international player development."

"Fox Soccer Academy was created to give young players access to a professional development environment, strong coaching standards and international opportunities," said Christian Fuchs, co-founder of Fox Soccer Academy and Premier League champion with Leicester City FC. "Remaining as partners alongside Nomadar allows us to expand that vision while continuing to support the academy's identity, methodology and long-term development."

"Over the years, we have built Fox Soccer Academy with a clear focus on structure, quality and long-term player development," said Raluca Gold-Fuchs, co-founder and General Manager of Fox Soccer Academy. "Nomadar brings international reach, operational resources and a complementary methodology, as well as a direct connection to a professional club environment through Cádiz CF and LaLiga. That pathway can create meaningful development opportunities for young players while helping FSA grow without losing its identity and values."

Christian Fuchs has built FSA around a player-centered development philosophy shaped by his professional experience in European football, Major League Soccer and international competition. Raluca Gold-Fuchs has played a central role in the academy's international growth, operating structure and long-term development strategy.

The acquisition supports Nomadar's broader objective of building an interconnected international platform for youth soccer, high-performance training, digital education, tournaments, international player programs and sports tourism. Nomadar will continue working with FSA's leadership and technical teams to preserve the academy's identity while expanding its reach, programs and integration with Nomadar's existing assets and international partnerships.

ISEA Releases Updated Head Protection Standard to Support Modern Jobsite Safety Programs
Image File
Original HTML

ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026 adds optional testing criteria for additional head protection performance features

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) today announced the release of ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026, the updated American National Standard for Industrial Head Protection, approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

As jobsite risks evolve, more employers are reevaluating head protection and adopting solutions that go beyond minimum requirements to help reduce serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries.

"This isn't a routine update — it's the roadmap for an industry transformation," said Cam Mackey, President & CEO of ISEA. "With head injuries accounting for nearly 700 worker fatalities in the last year, and major employers now mandating enhanced protection, this standard provides the technical framework the industry has been waiting for."

ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 is referenced in OSHA regulations and remains the primary benchmark for industrial head protection.

What's New in ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026

The 2026 revision does not replace existing requirements or make current compliant head protection obsolete. ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026 maintains the familiar Type and Class classifications used throughout the industry. Type I and II designations address impact and penetration protection, while Class designations address electrical protection performance.

The 2026 revision establishes optional testing criteria for features that are increasingly being considered by safety professionals and employers across a wide range of industries.

"This update is important because it helps everyone speak the same language — manufacturers, safety teams, and workers in the field," said Tim Gallant, Chair of the ISEA Head Protection Product Group and Vice President of Product at Ergodyne. "ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026 keeps the trusted foundation in place, but it also adds new optional testing criteria that reflect what safety professionals are asking for and what workers are relying on every day."

Key updates include:

- New Designation: "+" — indicates enhanced performance

Identifies head protection tested beyond the base standard for retention, chin strap performance, and (for Type I+) expanded impact protection.

- Type I+ — chin strap, enhanced retention, and multi-directional impact protection

- Type II+ — chin strap and enhanced retention (with Type II impact protection)

- Enhanced tests tied to the "+" marking:

- Chin strap retention — keeps head protection secured during impact/falls

- Helmet retention — stays properly positioned during slips/trips

- Multi-point impact — front/rear/side protection (Type I+)

- Guidance for reverse wearing —adds new checks for "+" head protection to ensure it stays securely on the head when worn in reverse

- Environmental/visibility markings — Maintains HT (high temp) and LT (low temp) markings, and updates "High Visibility (HV)" to "Enhanced Visibility (EV)" to reflect that head protection falls outside the ANSI/ISEA 107 standard for high visibility apparel. No change to visibility performance.

These updates standardize features already widely available in head protection today, making it easier for safety professionals to evaluate options and match protection to specific jobsite hazards.

"Safety teams are seeing more head protection options than ever before, and workers deserve confidence in what those markings mean," said Stacey Simmons, Vice Chair of the ISEA Head Protection Product Group and Strategic Account Executive at Bullard. "This revision helps make head protection selection more straightforward by defining consistent test methods for features many employers are already looking for."

A Focus on Hazard-Based Selection

ISEA emphasizes that head protection should always be selected based on actual jobsite hazards. While enhanced options such as Type I+ and Type II+ provide additional protection, not every job requires the same approach.

"ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2026 helps safety professionals make more informed decisions by adding clarity and consistency to features they're already evaluating," said Mackey.

LIMRA: Many Americans Spend More Time on Social Media in a Week Than on Retirement Planning All Year
Image File
Original HTML

Nearly 6 in 10 pre-retirees say they feel highly prepared for retirement. But new LIMRA research finds that confidence often outpaces action — 76% either have no written plan or have spent fewer than five hours on one in the past year.

WINDSOR, Conn., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Many Americans approaching retirement spend more time scrolling social media in a single week than they spend planning for retirement in an entire year. That is one of the more striking takeaways from new research from LIMRA's 2026 Retirement Income Readiness Report, which finds a wide gap between how prepared Americans feel for retirement and how much they are actually doing to prepare.

Nearly six in ten pre-retirees (59%) — workers age 45 and older who plan to retire within 10 years — rate themselves highly prepared for retirement, and 88% say they have thought about how they'll generate income once they stop working. Yet that confidence and those good intentions are not always reflected in recent planning activity. Half of pre-retirees (50%) either have no written retirement plan or have one they haven't recently updated, and 76% have either no plan or spent fewer than five hours developing, reviewing, or updating one in the past year.

"Most Americans approaching retirement genuinely feel prepared, and that confidence matters," said Tina Beckwith, Chief Marketing Officer, LIMRA. "But confidence and planning activity do not always align. Many people who feel prepared have not put a written plan in place or have not revisited one recently. Thinking about retirement is a good start, but having a plan and actively engaging in the planning process can strengthen people's sense of preparedness for retirement."

A Week of Scrolling vs. a Year of Planning

The scale of the gap comes into focus with a simple comparison. More than a quarter of pre-retirees (26%) spent fewer than five hours in the past year planning for retirement. Meanwhile, Americans age 45 and older spend an estimated 1.5 to 2 hours a day on social media — roughly 10 to 14 hours in a single week, according to DataReportal's Digital 2026 Global Overview. For many people nearing retirement, one week of scrolling outpaces an entire year of retirement planning.

It's not that Americans aren't worried about retirement. Cost-of-living increases, healthcare expenses, inflation, and the fear of outliving their savings weigh heavily on pre-retirees and even those who feel fully prepared report anxiety about whether their money will last. The issue is that concern isn't consistently translating into preparation.

"When people spend more time on social media in a week than they spend planning for retirement in a year, the barrier clearly isn't awareness — it's action," Beckwith said. "The encouraging part is that planning is one of the few retirement variables people can actually control. You can't control the markets or inflation, but you can decide to make a plan — and that single decision changes how prepared people feel and how prepared they actually are."

Planning — Not Just Wealth — Drives Confidence

LIMRA's research shows that retirement preparedness isn't determined by savings alone. Planning behaviors and professional guidance each contribute meaningfully to how prepared consumers feel. Pre-retirees who work with a financial advisor or planner are far more likely to feel highly prepared — 77% versus 47% of those who don't — yet only 40% currently work with one. Consumers with a written retirement plan likewise report significantly higher preparedness than those without.

A Simple Way to Check Your Readiness: The Three "R's"

LIMRA's research highlights several factors that contribute meaningfully to how prepared consumers feel, including their financial resources, having a written plan, actively engaging in the planning process, working with a financial advisor or planner, and understanding how savings will generate income in retirement. Based on these findings, consumers approaching retirement can begin by considering three questions:

Readiness — Do I have the financial resources and a current written plan to support the retirement I envision?

Resilience — Does my plan account for risks such as inflation, market swings, healthcare expenses, and other unexpected costs?

Retirement Income — Do I know how I'll turn my savings into income that lasts?

Consumers who regularly revisit all three areas are more likely to feel confident about their retirement future. The takeaway from the research is ultimately an encouraging one: retirement confidence isn't reserved for the wealthy or the lucky. It's built — through planning, guidance, and a clear picture of where the income will come from. And it can start with an hour that might otherwise be spent scrolling.

About the Research

The Retirement Income Readiness Report is based on a LIMRA survey of 486 pre-retirees (workers age 45 and older who plan to retire within 10 years) and 804 retirees age 45 and older, fielded in April, 2026. Social media usage figures are drawn from DataReportal's Digital 2026 Global Overview Report, which estimates average daily social media use at roughly 1.5 to 2 hours for adults age 45–54 and under 90 minutes for adults age 55 and older.

CARFAX Investigation: More than 1 in 4 Taxis and Rideshares in Major U.S. Cities Have Unfixed Recall
Image File

Meanwhile, some cities were doing far better than the roughly 20% national average, including Los Angeles at 11% and Boston at 9%. CARFAX analyzed nearly 438,000 VINs from registered taxi and rideshare vehicles across 16 major U.S. cities to find about 27% of vehicles had an open, or unfixed, recall. The VINs were provided by state and city officials, obtained through public records requests or open-data portals, then checked for open recalls using the Vehicle Research Search Service, a joint venture between CARFAX and the Alliance for Automotive Innovation.

There are conditions that can keep taxi and rideshare drivers from getting recall repairs done, said Elena Sierra, Executive Director of the Transportation Alliance, a trade group for taxi fleets. "It's important to recognize that not all recalls present the same level of safety risk," Sierra said. "They range from software updates and labeling corrections to more significant mechanical issues."

Consumers can check any vehicle for an unfixed recall for free at carfax.com/recall. The tool provides instant recall information and can help consumers find a dealer to complete the repair at no cost. Drivers can also download the free CARFAX Car Care app for reminders about routine maintenance and newly issued safety recalls.

Food and Beverage Companies Gain New Decarbonization Pathway with Launch of Green Ammonia Buyers Alliance
Image File

Center for Green Market Activation, RMI, and 3Degrees partner on new initiative to harness collective demand for green ammonia to reduce fertilizer production emissions.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA), RMI, and 3Degrees announced the launch of the Green Ammonia Buyers Alliance (GABA), a new initiative that will help food and beverage companies accelerate investment in green ammonia production to reduce emissions from fertilizer manufacturing.

The launch of GABA leverages the combined expertise and shared commitment of GMA, RMI, and 3Degrees to accelerate industrial decarbonization through innovative market-based solutions and extends a proven collective procurement approach into a sector primed to convert potential into impact. The program's founding members include leading companies within the food and beverage sector.

Ammonia production is one of the largest sources of emissions in fertilizer manufacturing. Green ammonia, produced using renewable electricity and water rather than natural gas, can eliminate nearly all emissions from this process. Accelerating its deployment represents one of the most significant and scalable opportunities to reduce emissions from the fertilizer value chain, which generates an estimated 1.2 gigatons of CO₂e annually. For food and beverage companies, investment in green ammonia offers a scalable pathway to materially reduce supply chain emissions while decreasing dependence on fossil-based fertilizers that are subject to significant price volatility.

Despite its potential to drive down emissions from fertilizer, green ammonia has proven difficult to scale. Dozens of projects have been announced around the world, but most still face the challenge of securing enough bankable demand to move forward. At the same time, food and beverage companies, many of whom have set ambitious Scope 3 emission reduction targets, sit five to six steps downstream from ammonia producers. This creates a gap between the projects seeking investment and the companies most interested in sourcing low-carbon inputs to address fertilizer-related emissions.

Through GABA, companies will be able to directly support the growth of the green ammonia-based fertilizer market, demonstrate the validity of green ammonia as a key fertilizer decarbonization solution, and advance progress toward their climate and supply chain sustainability goals.

"No company can scale a market like green ammonia on its own," said Kim Carnahan, GMA CEO. "GABA gives members of key sectors like food and bev a way to act collectively, creating the demand signal needed to help move projects from announcement to implementation."

By bringing companies together through a shared procurement process, GABA will aggregate demand for green ammonia and create a stronger market signal for producers, project developers, and investors. Through a book-and-claim system, member companies will purchase Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs) directly from verified green ammonia producers, helping provide the revenue certainty needed to support new projects while enabling companies to address fertilizer production emissions that would otherwise remain out of reach.

"Green ammonia is one of the most important long-term pathways for reducing emissions from fertilizer production, but bringing new production online requires clear market signals," said Thomas Koch Blank, Managing Director at RMI. "The Green Ammonia Buyers Alliance builds on what we've learned across other sectors: when companies come together around credible, long-term demand, they can give producers and investors confidence to move projects forward and accelerate adoption of lower-emissions technologies."

For many companies, EACs offer the most practical and scalable pathway available today for addressing value chain emissions beyond their direct control. Recent developments in corporate climate guidance, including the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2 and the Advanced and Indirect Mitigation (AIM) Platform Standard, provide increased clarity on how companies can account for and report these types of value chain interventions. GABA's approach mirrors similar market-based systems that have successfully channeled investment into renewable electricity, sustainable aviation fuel, decarbonized shipping, zero-emission heavy-duty trucking, and low-carbon construction materials.

GABA builds on growing momentum in fertilizer decarbonization and emerging demand for lower-emissions fertilizer solutions. Through the Low Carbon Fertilizer Alliance (LCFA), a 3Degrees-led global initiative comprising 25 food and beverage companies, companies have already begun leveraging market-based approaches to decarbonize large scale fertilizer plants through blue ammonia and nitric acid decarbonization.

"We're excited to partner with GMA and RMI to launch GABA and build on the growing momentum behind fertilizer decarbonization," said 3Degrees CEO Philippe Vedrenne. "GABA creates a dedicated platform for companies to collectively support the development of the green ammonia market. This platform directly compliments the Low Carbon Fertilizer Alliance, which is focused on retrofitting existing fertilizer production infrastructure through collective action."

By bringing together 3Degrees' expertise in environmental commodity markets and early work with fertilizer EACs alongside GMA and RMI's experience designing high-integrity book-and-claim systems and demand aggregation programs, GABA provides companies with a proven, credible pathway to support green ammonia production. Members will benefit from technical expertise, transparent market design, and a competitive procurement process intended to direct demand toward the most credible and impactful green ammonia projects at the most competitive cost possible for companies purchasing EACs.

GABA plans to launch its first pilot procurement in Q4 2026, giving participating companies an opportunity to help establish one of the first collective demand signals for green ammonia-based fertilizers. Buyers engaged in GABA's inaugural procurement will have unique opportunities to inform program design and capture first-mover discounts through 2027. Companies interested in joining GABA or learning more about upcoming procurement opportunities are encouraged to contact [email protected].

NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy announce transformational Virginia benefits package that puts customers first and positions the Commonwealth as a global energy leader
Image File
Original HTML

Enhanced package would deliver long-term residential bill relief, create 1,000 new direct jobs in Virginia, accelerate clean energy development and build a new shareholder-funded co-headquarters tower for the combined company in downtown Richmond

JUNO BEACH, Fla. and RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In direct response to feedback from policymakers and other stakeholders, NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NEE) and Dominion Energy, Inc. (NYSE: D) today announced a transformational Virginia benefits package as part of their proposed combination, designed to put customers first while positioning the Commonwealth as a global energy leader with long-term bill relief for residential customers, long-term affordability benefits, data center cost protections, accelerated clean energy deployment and thousands of new direct and indirect jobs in Richmond and across the Commonwealth.

The package is organized around the priorities Virginians have made clear: affordability, jobs and building more clean energy and battery storage faster to decrease reliance on expensive imports. It puts customers first by proposing four years of residential bill credits, delivering long-term affordability benefits, expanding low-income financial assistance and ensuring data centers pay their fair share. At the same time, it would position Virginia as a global energy leader, with a major new NextEra Energy presence in Richmond, significant new jobs across Virginia, a stronger local supply chain and national-scale energy innovation anchored in the Commonwealth.

"This is a Virginia-first package, and it starts with customers," said John Ketchum, chairman, president and CEO of NextEra Energy. "We are proposing to double residential bill relief from two years to four years, along with expanded low-income financial assistance and long-term affordability benefits. We are also reaffirming our support for the State Corporation Commission, Governor and General Assembly's efforts to protect residential and small business customers from costs associated with serving data centers. Just as important, this package would help Virginia build more of the clean energy and infrastructure it needs faster, so the Commonwealth can reduce its reliance on expensive imported power. And it would do that while positioning Virginia as a major energy leader, bringing NextEra Energy jobs, good-paying supplier jobs, workforce investment, economic development and national-scale energy technology and innovation to Virginia. This is the kind of customer-focused, job-creating package this combination makes possible."

"Dominion Energy Virginia will remain locally led, separately regulated and accountable to the State Corporation Commission," said Robert Blue, chair, president and CEO of Dominion Energy. "The same local teams, led by Ed Baine, that customers know and trust will continue serving the Commonwealth. This package builds on that foundation by adding NextEra Energy's scale, capital and capabilities to help support Virginia's growth while keeping customers, reliability and affordability at the center of everything we do. It brings new jobs, maintains our existing Virginia employee headcount levels for five years and positions the Commonwealth to become a global energy leader. The benefits to our customers and the Commonwealth from this combination are things we cannot deliver on our own."

Putting customers first

Under the expanded package, the companies would seek to double residential bill relief, extending $10 per month in bill credits from the previously proposed two years to four years, by working with the State Corporation Commission (SCC) to redirect the portion of credits that would otherwise go to large-scale data centers toward additional relief for residential customers and increasing the aggregate shareholder-funded Virginia customer credit amount.

The companies would also expand low-income financial assistance by increasing EnergyShare, Dominion Energy's shareholder-funded energy bill assistance program, by $100 million through 2038 and reaffirm their existing commitment to hold customers harmless from all merger costs. Customers will not pay one cent for this combination.

The companies said the package would support long-term affordability by using the combined company's scale to buy, build, finance and operate more efficiently over time, with future base rates continuing to be set by the SCC once every two years. When combined with the credits, customers are receiving long-term affordability benefits that a standalone Dominion Energy cannot offer.

The benefits of scale

The long-term customer benefits in the expanded package are grounded in NextEra Energy's operating track record and scale advantages that have translated into lower costs and stronger outcomes for customers over time. The ability to buy, build, operate and finance more efficiently helps drive affordability over the long term.

Since 2006, NextEra Energy's utility subsidiary, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), has increased customer accounts by more than 36% and generation capacity by more than 60%, while improving reliability by more than 40% and lowering bills by 20% in real dollars. Today, FPL's non-fuel operations and maintenance expense is more than 70% below the national average, its typical residential bills are 37% below the national average, and its reliability is more than 60% better than the national average, all while making investments in affordable generation to keep pace with increasing electric demand in the 14th largest economy in the world.

While Dominion Energy Virginia would remain locally led, separately regulated and accountable to the SCC, those same scale advantages and operating efficiencies are some of the core long-term benefits NextEra Energy would bring to Virginia.

Ensuring data centers pay their fair share

NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy also reaffirmed their support for the efforts of the SCC, General Assembly and Governor to protect residential and small business customers from costs associated with serving data centers.

The companies said that principle is consistent with Dominion Energy's GS-5 rate class, FPL's large-load tariff (which is one of the most protective in the nation), both companies' support for the Ratepayer Protection Pledge and Virginia's recently passed legislation, which reinforces that data centers should pay their fair share.

Building more clean energy and infrastructure faster

The expanded package would help accelerate the buildout of Virginia generation, including solar, storage, dispatchable resources and nuclear, while leveraging the combined company's existing Virginia assets, like the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center, to support reliability as the Commonwealth builds the next generation of energy infrastructure.

The companies would also leverage their combined experience, supply chain, construction platform and scale to accelerate renewable energy and storage development in accordance with the Virginia Clean Economy Act.

"Virginia should not have to choose between affordability, reliability and clean energy," Blue said. "The answer is to build affordably, build faster and build in a way that protects customers."

Making Virginia a global energy leader

The expanded package would position Virginia, anchored by Richmond and connected to communities across the Commonwealth, as a major center for the future of energy.

NextEra Energy would maintain current employee headcount levels in Virginia for five years, add 600 new NextEra Energy jobs in Virginia and work with suppliers who are expected to bring 400 additional jobs to the Commonwealth. NextEra Energy also would build, at its shareholders' expense, a new NextEra Energy office tower in Richmond beside the existing Dominion Energy headquarters building as a part of the combined company's co-headquarters to accommodate the new jobs as well as existing Dominion Energy jobs and future growth.

The new Richmond presence would support work in renewable energy development and supply chain management, battery storage operations, nuclear and small modular reactor innovation, enterprise technology and cybersecurity, among others.

The companies also would host an annual global energy summit in Virginia, bringing chief executives, investors and policymakers to focus on innovation, technology and the energy infrastructure required to power economic growth.

"Virginia already leads in technology and defense," Ketchum said. "With this combination, Virginia can also lead in energy."

Investing in Virginia workers and suppliers

The companies would contribute $100 million to directly support workforce development in Virginia. The investment would include working with union partners to support career development, hands-on training and apprenticeships and establish a newly created independent organization to operate a workforce development fund for Virginia, governed by a board drawn from the Commonwealth's trade schools, colleges, universities, technical colleges and community colleges, directed at training Virginians for the jobs this global leadership opportunity would create.

The companies would establish up to a $1 billion annual, five-year Virginia Supplier Program through spending commitments that support cost-competitive contractors, suppliers and service providers doing business in Virginia. They would use the combined company's purchasing scale to bring suppliers, vendors and engineering and construction partners into the state, expand the role of the Port of Virginia in the energy supply chain and hire local firms and workers to help build the new NextEra Energy office tower. Already, more than nine other companies intend to establish or expand their presence in Virginia if the combination is approved, bringing additional investment and good-paying jobs to the Commonwealth.

(NYSE: NEE) and Dominion Energy, Inc. (NYSE: D) unveiled an expanded Virginia benefits package tied to their proposed combination, doubling residential bill credits and pledging 1,000 new direct jobs in the Commonwealth.</p><h5>Companies double residential bill credits to four years</h5><p>The package extends $10-per-month residential bill credits from two years to four years by redirecting funds otherwise allocated to large-scale data centers, the companies said. Dominion Energy will also increase EnergyShare, its shareholder-funded low-income assistance program, by $100 million through 2038. Both firms reaffirmed that customers will not bear any merger costs.</p><h5>NextEra pledges 600 jobs, suppliers add 400 more</h5><p>NextEra Energy said it will add 600 new jobs in Virginia and maintain current Dominion Energy headcount for five years, while suppliers are expected to bring an additional 400 jobs to the state, totaling 1,000 new direct positions. NextEra will fund, at shareholder expense, a new office tower in Richmond adjacent to Dominion's headquarters to serve as a co-headquarters for the combined company.</p><h5>Firms commit up to $1 billion annually to Virginia suppliers</h5><p>The companies outlined a five-year, up-to-$1-billion annual Virginia Supplier Program to engage cost-competitive contractors and expand the Port of Virginia's role in the energy supply chain. A separate $100 million workforce development fund will support apprenticeships and training programs governed by a board drawn from Virginia's trade and technical schools. More than nine other companies have indicated intent to establish or expand operations in Virginia if the deal is approved, according to the companies.</p><h5>FPL track record cited to justify scale claims</h5><p>NextEra pointed to its Florida Power & Light subsidiary's performance since 2006 to support projected efficiencies: customer accounts up more than 36%, generation capacity up more than 60%, reliability improved over 40%, and bills lowered 20% in real dollars. FPL's non-fuel operations and maintenance expense is currently more than 70% below the national average, with residential bills 37% below and reliability over 60% better than the U.S. average, the companies said.</p><h5>Dominion Energy Virginia to remain separately regulated</h5><p>Dominion Energy Virginia will continue to operate under its existing leadership, led by Ed Baine, and remain accountable to the State Corporation Commission, said Robert Blue, chair, president and CEO of Dominion Energy. Future base rates will still be set by the SCC every two years, the companies confirmed.</p><h5>Companies reaffirm data center cost protections</h5><p>Both firms backed ongoing SCC, General Assembly and Governor efforts to shield residential and small-business customers from data center-related costs, citing Dominion's GS-5 rate class and FPL's large-load tariff as precedent. The companies also committed to an annual global energy summit in Virginia to convene executives, investors and policymakers on energy infrastructure and technology.</p>", "meta_description": "NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy expand Virginia merger benefits: 4-year bill credits, 1,000 new jobs, $1B supplier program and a Richmond co-headquarters tower.", "seo_keywords": "NextEra Energy, Dominion Energy, Virginia merger, residential bill credits, EnergyShare, Virginia Supplier Program, Richmond headquarters, data center costs", "companies": ["NextEra Energy", "Dominion Energy", "Florida Power & Light"], "industries": ["Energy & Environment"], "markets_regions": ["United States", "North America"], "news_type": ["merger_acquisition", "regulatory_update"], "products": [], "themes": ["energy_affordability", "job_creation", "clean_energy_transition"], "events": ["Global Energy Summit"], "cta_text": "Details on the expanded Virginia benefits package accompanying the NextEra-Dominion combination proposal", "learn_more": "", "fact_check": {"accuracy_score": 100, "legal_risk": "low", "corrections_made": [], "recommendation": "publish"}}
