Most Indiana Plane Crashes Happen Away from the State's Major Airports

A new review of a decade's worth of federal aviation safety records points to a pattern many Hoosiers might not expect.

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kryder Law Group, LLC Accident and Injury Lawyers, today released a report on aviation accidents across Indiana, finding that the state's largest commercial airports account for only a small share of reported crashes. The overwhelming majority happened at regional runways, general aviation fields, and private airstrips spread throughout the state.

Drawing on the National Transportation Safety Board's census of U.S. civil aviation accidents from 2016 through 2025, the report identified 136 total events. The split is clear.

- Indiana's five commercial service airports, Indianapolis International (IND), Fort Wayne International (FWA), South Bend International (SBN), Evansville Regional (EVV), and Purdue University Airport (LAF), recorded 17 accidents (or about 12.5% of the total).

- Every other airport combined recorded 119 accidents (or roughly 87.5%).

That contrast reshapes how residents might think about aviation risk. The airports most people picture handle about one in eight reported events, while the wider general aviation network carries nearly all the rest.

"The data is unambiguous—regional airports and smaller airstrips account for the overwhelming majority of aviation accidents in Indiana, and these incidents are often far more severe than what occurs at a major commercial hub," said Andrew Kryder, Esq. "These crashes happen in communities across the state, away from the spotlight, and the families left dealing with the consequences deserve real answers, strong advocacy, and full accountability."

The firm hopes the findings give Indiana communities a clearer picture of where aviation risk actually concentrates. Commercial service airports and general aviation fields serve very different purposes, and understanding that distinction matters when residents weigh safety trends across the state.

KELLS AI Dental Scan Registered as Class B Medical Device with Singapore HSA

Regulatory milestone advances accessible, proactive and digital-first dental care

SINGAPORE and NEW YORK, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- KELLS, a leading AI-powered dental care platform, today announced that its KELLS AI Dental Scan has been registered as a Class B medical device with Singapore's Health Sciences Authority (HSA), making it Singapore's first HSA-registered AI dental screening tool designed for direct consumer use. The milestone validates the company's proprietary dental AI technology.

The clearance supports KELLS' expansion in Singapore and advances preventive oral healthcare beyond traditional dental settings.

KELLS AI Dental Scan allows individuals to capture images of their teeth using a smartphone. KELLS' proprietary AI analyzes the images to identify potential oral health concerns and helps users better understand their dental health, what may require attention, and when professional care may be appropriate.

"Dental care has traditionally been centered around what happens inside the dental office, but much of oral health happens between visits," said Jie Feng, Ph.D., Co-Founder and CEO of KELLS. "This registration is an important validation of the technology we have spent years developing and moves us closer to a future where people can understand and manage their dental health continuously."

Expanding access to earlier dental insights

Access to timely dental care remains challenging for many populations, including young children, older adults, and communities where regular dental evaluation may be difficult to access. By enabling dental screening through a smartphone, KELLS can extend oral health assessment into community settings, workplaces, and homes while helping connect individuals who need further care with dental professionals.

In Singapore, KELLS technology has been deployed through community and corporate oral health initiatives, demonstrating how digital screening can help reach large groups efficiently while creating a clearer path from early identification to appropriate in-person care.

The HSA registration also represents a broader milestone as KELLS expands internationally. The company has built its technology around a quality management and clinical validation framework designed to support the responsible application of AI in healthcare.

Building a more continuous dental care experience

The AI Dental Scan is part of KELLS' broader vision to create a personal dental platform that supports consumers throughout their oral health journey—from understanding their current health and monitoring changes over time to navigating care and connecting with providers.

"Our goal is to make oral health measurable, understandable and actionable," Feng added. "AI can help people identify potential concerns earlier and make more informed decisions about when and where to seek care."

About KELLS

KELLS is an AI-powered dental care and benefits platform transforming how people access, understand, and manage their oral health. Combining advanced AI, clinical expertise, and an integrated digital care experience, KELLS helps members detect potential concerns earlier, navigate care confidently, and stay supported throughout their dental health journey. Now available with Incompass, Stryker's comprehensive total ankle replacement system, Prophecy enables surgeons to leverage this depth of experience through patient-specific surgical planning, enhanced 3D planning tools, and both resect-through and pin-through fixation options. The integration of these two products further reflects Stryker's commitment to delivering technology-enabled solutions.

"We've seen incredible customer adoption and feedback around Prophecy, and we're excited to extend that offering to Incompass," said Adam Jacobs, vice president and general manager of Stryker's Foot & Ankle business. "By bringing Prophecy to Incompass, we're combining the power of patient-specific planning with our newest total ankle system, helping surgeons make more informed decisions before they ever enter the operating room."

The Incompass Total Ankle System was created using insights generated through Prophecy and SOMA (Stryker Orthopaedic Modeling and Analytics), incorporating real-world anatomy and surgical planning into the implant design. The addition of Prophecy Surgical Planning further strengthens the connection between preoperative planning and implant selection, enabling surgeons to make more informed decisions.

Telcos expect major AI driven productivity gains, but talent and operating model gaps threaten delivery
Image File
Original HTML

- 97% of telecom leaders expect AI to deliver major productivity gains within five years, but organizational readiness may hold them back

- Workforce transformation intensifies as 69% expect three-quarters of employees to be upskilled or replaced

- 50% view non-core services as a critical growth catalyst but disruption risks are growing

LONDON, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Telecom company leaders see significant opportunities from AI, automation and new digital services, but many may be unprepared to capture the full value, according to the latest EY-Parthenon Telco of Tomorrow study. Conducted every two years and based on interviews with nearly 100 telecom C-suite leaders globally, the study highlights the strategic decisions shaping the industry.

While nearly all leaders expect AI to dramatically improve efficiency over the next five years, the study suggests that talent shortages, operating model challenges and a lack of strategic clarity could slow progress. The findings indicate that telcos are not short of growth opportunities but may lack the organizational readiness needed to capture them.

Cédric Foray, EY Global Telecommunications Sector Leader, says:

"Telcos are not short of growth opportunities. The greater challenge is whether they have the operating models, skills and strategic clarity needed to capture them. AI has the potential to reshape how telecom companies operate, but technology deployment alone will not determine success. The organizations that create the most value will be those that successfully align business strategy, talent development and operating model transformation."

AI ambition is running ahead of organizational readiness

AI has become a defining transformation priority for the telecom sector. According to the study, 97% of telecom executives expect AI to deliver major productivity and operational performance gains within five years. Leaders are prioritizing AI across a range of business functions, with customer care and issue resolution (92%), network optimization (67%) and augmented and service personalization (38% each) emerging as the most common use case.

However, realizing these gains remains far from guaranteed. More than half (54%) identify budget constraints as a barrier to transformation, while 43% cite insufficient current skills. Leaders also point to a lack of alignment between technology and business strategy as a significant obstacle to successful transformation. Notably, 34% identify a lack of clarity around their strategic North Star as a key barrier to transformation.

The findings suggest that AI's value will depend not simply on technology investment, but on the organization's ability to redesign operating models and embed AI into core business processes.

Telcos face a workforce transformation paradox

Insights from executive interviews point to significant workforce disruption ahead. Nearly seven in ten executives (69%) expect three-quarters of their workforce to be either upskilled or replaced over the next five years as organizations adapt to increasingly AI-enabled operating models.

Yet attracting the talent required to support this transformation remains a concern. Only 31% of leaders believe the telecom sector will be among the most attractive industries for employees in five years.

Cédric says: "The workforce challenge extends beyond reskilling. Telecom companies must also rethink organizational structures, redesign roles and processes, and develop new leadership capabilities to support the next phase of transformation. Leaders that simply add AI to existing ways of working risk missing much of the value. The opportunity lies in reengineering how work gets done across the organization."

Telcos look beyond connectivity to cybersecurity, sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure

As growth in traditional connectivity services remains relatively modest, telecom leaders are increasingly looking beyond their core business for new sources of value.

Half of executives (50%) identify non-core services as a leading growth catalyst, up from 34% in the previous EY-Parthenon Telco of Tomorrow study in 2024. Reflecting this shift, 47% rank overhauling business models to accelerate non-core growth among their top strategic priorities for the next five years. Key areas of focus include cybersecurity, sovereign cloud, AI infrastructure and GPU-as-a-service.

Many leaders believe telcos should focus on opportunities where infrastructure assets, trusted brands and customer relationships provide a credible competitive advantage. Notably, 64% of executives view superior customer understanding as critical competency for future success, compared with 49% who cite network quality. Reinforcing this view, 80% believe digital infrastructure remains a core asset that telecom companies should own and manage.

Satellite operators and hyperscalers reshape the competitive landscape

The competitive landscape is evolving rapidly. Two-thirds (66%) of executives view satellite operators as a leading source of disruption within the next five years, reflecting concerns that advances in low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services could challenge traditional connectivity models, particularly in underserved and rural markets.

Meanwhile, hyperscalers are creating a growing strategic tension for the industry. While increasingly viewed as competitors in enterprise markets, they are also expected to become some of telcos' most important ecosystem partners as demand for AI infrastructure drives closer alignment between connectivity, cloud and computing services.

Adrian Baschnonga, EY Global Telecommunications Lead Analyst, says:

"Competition is increasingly coming from outside traditional telecom boundaries. Satellite providers are expanding their ambitions, while hyperscalers are simultaneously becoming both competitors and essential partners. This makes strategic positioning more important than ever as telcos determine where they can create distinctive value within increasingly interconnected ecosystems."

Read the full study to read the five actions telcos should keep in mind as they maximize transformation opportunities ahead.

From Nobel Laureate to Olympic Gold Medal Coach -- Why Have They All Answered the "Orchid Call"?

BEIJING, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A news report from China.org.cn on the cultural exchanges between China and other parts of the world:

A Nobel Laureate in Literature, a recipient of the Fields Medal, the highest honor in mathematics, a diplomat, an educator, an Olympic gold-medal coach… are all these luminaries in their respective fields vying for a Chinese award? This is exactly the scene that unfolded at the recent selection for China's third Orchid Awards.

The Orchid Awards, established by China International Communications Group (CICG), are a major international cultural prize honoring non-Chinese individuals or organizations worldwide dedicated to promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the rest of the world.

The Awards are named after "orchid" because, in traditional Chinese culture, the flower symbolizes sincerity, integrity, and the pursuit of goodness; in the contemporary context, it also carries the spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and harmony in diversity, qualities which also shine through in the stories of the candidates.

Among them is Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, a Nobel Laureate in Literature. He first encountered Chinese literary classics such as "The Analects of Confucius" and "A Dream of Red Mansions" in the 1970s. Since 2011, he has paid frequent visits to China, during which he taught several general education courses at Nanjing University. He followed in the footsteps of Du Fu at the Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage to seek out the ancient well and fireflies in the poet's poem "Seeing Fireflies"; he went to Shanghai and Nanjing for heartfelt exchanges with middle-school students; moreover, he introduced Chinese literature to French-speaking readers through his publications such as the French book "Le flot de la poésie continuera de couler" (The stream of poetry will continue to flow), the Chinese version of which is named "The Road of Tang Poetry."

In the women's field hockey semifinal at the Paris Olympics, Team China's goalkeeper saved the decisive penalty stroke, guaranteeing the team a spot in the final. Behind their remarkable performance, Alyson Annan, head coach of the Chinese National Women's Field Hockey Team, deserves much of the credit. As the only woman in history to have won Olympic golds in field hockey both as an athlete and as a coach, Annan has infused the Chinese team with cutting-edge technical and tactical ideas. She has also promoted the sport at the grassroots level, visiting schools in Yunfu, Guangdong, where she engaged face-to-face with teachers and students, and demonstrated hockey skills on the field personally — advancing sports and cultural exchange through concrete action.

On the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), handwritten letters, complete with illustrations, were sent to Chinese President Xi Jinping — 40 primary and secondary school student representatives of the UAE's "Hundred Schools Project" for Chinese language education carefully wrote their genuine thoughts on China-UAE cooperation. The project is led by Fatma Al Bastaki, who has devoted more than four decades to Chinese language education, during which the program grew from a pilot initiative to a network spanning 179 schools across all seven emirates, benefiting 73,000 students. She also has long organized youth exchange visits to China, sowing the seeds of friendship in children's hearts.

The stories of these finalists are but a glimpse into the many beautiful stories told to the world through the Orchid Awards. Since its establishment in 2022, the Awards have honored 19 non-Chinese nationals as well as one institution. In March 2026, developing the Orchid Awards brand was written into the outline of China's 15th Five-Year Plan. This year, shortlisted candidates span 24 countries across five continents, with a significantly broader range of professional backgrounds.

These leading figures from different fields may have first crossed paths with China by chance, but they have dedicated years or even decades to this people-to-people, heart-to-heart exchange. Their stories show us that people from different civilizations can understand, inspire and resonate with one another. This is not only the original aspiration of the Orchid Awards, but also the most moving interpretation of the Global Civilization Initiative.

Capillus Expands Light Therapy Expertise into Pet Wellness with Launch of Pet Vest and Joint Wrap

The pioneer in science-based light therapy brings its engineering to a new wellness line for dogs

MIAMI, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Capillus, a leader in red light therapy, today announced its official expansion into the pet wellness category with the launch of two new wellness devices, the Capillus Pet Vest and the Capillus Pet Joint Wrap. Leveraging over 10 years of authority and U.S.-based engineering, Capillus addresses a major gap in the pet care market: non-invasive recovery and wellness products designed specifically for animals.

As pet owners increasingly prioritize proactive longevity, photobiomodulation (PBM) is emerging as a standard in veterinary health to help their furry family members stay active, and enjoy a better quality of life as they age. Research has found that red light therapy helped 81 percent of dogs with arthritis reduce their reliance on daily pain meds, and that dogs receiving targeted light therapy experience noticeable improvements in joint movement, stride, and flexibility for up to 90 days post-treatment.

"For over a decade, Capillus has delivered research-backed red light therapy to help people take control of how they heal and age," said Domingo "Opi" Moreira, CEO of Capillus. "Red light wavelengths boost mitochondrial function in humans, making the decision to expand our technology to support our four-legged family members a natural evolution."

Both new pet items utilize targeted red and near-infrared light wavelengths to promote relaxation, support circulation, aid muscle and joint comfort, and encourage your pet's natural restorative processes.

The Pet Vest, which was designed to fit like an ergonomic harness across the chest, stomach, and back with two size options (medium and large) to accommodate various breeds, will retail for $299. MERIWETHER COMPANIES DEBUTS MULTIMILLION-DOLLAR TRANSFORMATION OF LA VALLE COASTAL CLUB IN RANCHO SANTA FE, CALIFORNIA
Image File
Original HTML

Located just three miles from the beaches of Del Mar, La Valle Coastal Club brings together hospitality, recreation, wellness, dining, championship golf and racquet sports within a relaxed Southern California setting. The impressive $50 million renovation by Colorado and California-based Meriwether Companies started with a simple idea to offer the world class amenities and services of a premier private club without the formality and stuffiness traditionally associated with clubs in the region.

"We saw an incredible opportunity to honor what has made this property a special part of the Rancho Santa Fe community for decades while creating something that reflects the evolution of how people want to spend their time today," said Dave Likins, partner of Meriwether Companies. "La Valle is built around staying active, enjoying time outdoors and coming together. You can play 18 holes in the morning, meet friends for lunch, spend the afternoon at the pool or the Verde wellness center, and end the night over cocktails. It's a club experience, but one that feels distinctly San Diego."

GUESTHOUSE HOTEL

Serving as the hospitality cornerstone is Guesthouse Hotel at La Valle, a completely reimagined 77-room boutique hotel that gives travelers the opportunity to experience the property as a club member during their stay. Refreshed guestrooms and suites pair a relaxed, contemporary approach to coastal California design with natural materials, playful touches and Southern California-inspired artwork. Registered hotel guests receive access to all of La Valle Coastal Club's private club amenities.

A NEW GOLF CHAPTER

Golf remains at the heart of La Valle Coastal Club with 27 holes across three distinct nine-hole courses – Olivos, Cedros and Palmas – creating one of the most walkable and scenic golf experiences in San Diego County. A significant portion of the property-wide investment was dedicated to the golf experience, encompassing course improvements and dramatically expanded practice facilities. The former East Course, now Olivos, has been completely re-done with a new routing spanning an additional 20 acres, with new greens, fairways, bunkers and tee boxes. Cedros, formerly the North Course, received extensive bunker renovations, while Palmas, formerly the South Course, features new grassing and routing and introduces a new signature hole playing alongside a repositioned lake before reaching an elevated green.

Additional enhancements include a driving range with 40 hitting bays, new bunkers, target greens and a defined fairway landing zone. Two dedicated chipping greens complement a new 12,000-square-foot practice putting green and a separate 5,000-square-foot social putting green adjacent to the clubhouse. Members have access to instruction, clinics and practice facilities, along with The Trott Shop custom fittings by renowned tour fitter Chris Trott. Guesthouse visitors can experience the otherwise private courses through hotel golf access and stay-and-play offerings.

WELLNESS AND RACQUET SPORTS

The new Verde Wellness Center is a best-in-class hotel and club facility hosting a wide range of classes and treatments together under one roof, organized around four pillars: Fitness, Recovery, Longevity and Vitality. Offerings range from Olympic weights to group exercise classes in functional training, yoga, HIIT, circuit strength, barre, sound bath, guided breathwork and meditation. The club also offers reformer Pilates in private and semi-private settings.

Recovery and longevity experiences include Clearlight infrared and halotherapy saunas as well as traditional Finnish saunas and LIT Method cold plunges. The club proudly offers Lumati Red Light+ and 5-in-1 treatments providing advanced technology multi-spectrum light therapy, vibration massage, hydrogen breath therapy and vagus nerve stimulation. La Valle Coastal Club is one of only three venues in Southern California to offer the Lumati suite.

Its athletic offerings extend to eight LED-lit tennis courts, 12 pickleball courts and two Padel courts, supported by full-time professionals, private instruction, clinics, leagues and social play.

FROM SPEAKEASY COCKTAILS TO CALIFORNIA CUISINE

Among La Valle Coastal Club's most distinctive new social spaces is the Swing Suite, an intimate speakeasy-style lounge that offers a moodier counterpoint to the club's bountiful outdoor spaces. Botanical wall coverings, low lighting and individual member liquor lockers bring an old school private club ritual into a decidedly modern environment. A Full Swing multi-sport simulator lets members gather over cocktails while playing virtual golf and other sports.

Central to the culinary experience is the newly opened Gather California Kitchen, the club's revitalized signature restaurant and social hub. Its California-driven menu mixes club favorites with coastal influences and regional ingredients, including wild shrimp aguachile with Chino's cucumbers, summer heirloom tomato toast, spicy tuna crispy rice, West Coast Wagyu burger and Tijuana braised short rib. Cocktails include the cucumber and jalapeño Verde Picante, Coastal Elder Spritz, La Spresso-Tini and mezcal-forward Smoke & Sand. For something quicker, Oasis Café serves as the casual poolside and grab-and-go destination with fresh pressed juices, smoothies, breakfast, coffee, bowls, sandwiches and snacks. The restaurants boast incredible golf course views from the formal dining room as well as abundant outdoor patio and indoor sports bar seating.

La Valle Coastal Club went one step further with the launch of the new indoor-outdoor bar located at its expanded pickleball courts. Members and guests check in for their tennis, pickle or padel court assignments with the bartender in this laid back 1970s vintage SoCal pub.

ART WITH A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA POINT OF VIEW

Throughout La Valle Coastal Club and Guesthouse, art has been incorporated as an essential part of the property's new identity. Colorful large-scale murals transform exterior walls with botanicals, palms and playful figures, while interiors feature contemporary works and recognizable scenes of coastal Southern California, from swimming pools and beach neighborhoods to surfers and everyday life near the Pacific. Works throughout Guesthouse and the club include pieces by famed Southern California artists such as Hank Pitcher, Jim Olarte and Andy Davis.

The overall transformation reflects La Valle Coastal Club's move away from the conventions of the traditional country club toward a more casual, active and social experience. Commercial Construction in a $6 Copper Market: Why More Builders Are Choosing CCA
Image File
Original HTML

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In the following article, Josh Vogel, CFO at Copperweld, the world leader in bimetallic wire and cable, provides new analysis of the current copper market and where Copperweld (R) Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA) Building Wire can address more recent economic challenges.

Copper Volatility Reaches a New Threshold

Not long ago, copper crossing $5 per pound felt unprecedented — a psychological and financial milestone that dominated budgetary conversations in meeting rooms and jobsite trailers across the map. Remarkably, that event occurred only months before copper surged above $6 per pound, redefining market expectations and signaling more than a momentary price swing. Since then, continued price swings at historically elevated levels have reinforced that this is not simply another commodity cycle, but a fundamentally different planning environment for the construction industry.

For construction professionals, the real issue isn't whether copper stabilizes at $5.80 or $6.10 in a given quarter. It's what sustained volatility above prior benchmarks does to planning, pricing, and profitability — especially for commercial projects that unfold over long timelines.

Residential builders feel the impact of copper swings quickly and visibly. Commercial projects feel that volatility even more, because pricing decisions are often made months — or years — before material is purchased and installed. At this time scale, copper doesn't just influence material cost. It reshapes risk.

Why Commercial Projects Carry Elevated Exposure

Commercial construction operates on a different clock.

Design development, permitting, bidding, awarding, and mobilization can stretch well beyond a year. During that time, copper prices can move dramatically — sometimes multiple times — before the first coil of wire ever reaches the jobsite.

While electrical scope may represent a smaller percentage of total commercial project cost compared to residential, it carries an outsized share of commodity volatility. Once estimates are built and contracts are awarded, that volatility becomes very difficult to absorb.

In residential construction, material pricing often adjusts closer to installation. In commercial construction, pricing assumptions are typically locked early — and then tested later.

When Tight Margins Meet Unstable Cost Inputs

Commercial construction operates with tight margins. General contractors and project owners function in an environment where even modest cost deviations can erase profitability.

Copper prices breaking above $6 per pound intensify that pressure. Estimators and finance teams are forced into uncomfortable tradeoffs:

- Pad bids to hedge against future price increases and risk losing work

- Hold aggressive numbers and absorb cost escalations later

Neither option addresses the root issue — exposure to a volatile commodity embedded within the electrical scope. At today's copper levels, wire selection is no longer just a procurement decision. It is a financial decision that directly affects whether project margins hold or erode.

The Multiplier Effect of Electrical Cost Swings

Rising electrical material costs rarely remain isolated.

In commercial projects, unexpected increases in electrical materials often trigger a cascade of downstream consequences:

- Electrical value engineering late in the process as teams work to contain unexpected material cost increases

- Schedule disruptions as electrical decisions are revisited in response to shifting material prices

- Re-estimating electrical quantities and costs late in the process

- Friction between owners, general contractors, and electrical contractors as electrical scope, pricing, and responsibilities are renegotiated

These secondary effects frequently cost more — in time, coordination, and opportunity — than the original material increase itself. The longer volatility goes unaddressed, the harder it becomes to contain.

The Bid Timing Trap

Most commercial bids assume a limited window of price stability — often 60 to 90 days. In a copper market that has already demonstrated the ability to move past $6 per pound, that assumption is increasingly fragile.

Delays between bid submission, contract award, and material procurement quietly amplify exposure. By the time wire is purchased, the copper pricing environment that shaped the original estimate may no longer exist.

In those moments, teams often realize that decisions they hoped were behind them are suddenly back on the table — not because the scope changed, but because the market did.

This timing mismatch puts pressure on every stakeholder:

- Owners face revised budgets or delayed starts

- General contractors face margin compression

- Electrical contractors face post-bid exposure

Copper doesn't need to spike dramatically to cause disruption. It only needs to move at the wrong time.

When Copper Volatility Becomes a Competitive Variable

As copper volatility reshapes bid assumptions, some commercial builders and contractors have already begun reducing their exposure by rethinking wire selection. That shift matters.

When bids are built on different assumptions about copper risk, the gap between them isn't just price — it's confidence. Bids anchored to more stable material inputs allow teams to price work with greater conviction, while bids that remain fully tied to copper volatility carry more uncertainty into both the number and the strategy behind it.

In a market defined by volatility, that difference can influence not only competitiveness at bid time, but resilience once construction begins.

Reducing Exposure Without Sacrificing Performance

Addressing copper volatility isn't about chasing the lowest upfront material cost. It's about reducing reliance on a cost input that has proven structurally unstable — without introducing new uncertainty elsewhere.

Copperweld (R) Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA) Building Wire draws on more than a century of bimetallic conductor expertise. That experience shapes how Copperweld engineers its industry-leading bimetallic products for real-world electrical applications — balancing electrical performance, mechanical reliability, and long-term manufacturing consistency.

As a result, Copperweld CCA uses a fraction of the copper content of traditional solid copper conductors while delivering comparable electrical performance when sized in accordance with the NEC. Its metallurgically bonded construction reflects the same engineering discipline that pioneered bimetallic conductor technology, ensuring bond integrity that supports reliable performance over the life of the installation.

Why Predictability Matters as Copper Tests New Highs

As copper prices fluctuate around record levels, stability becomes a differentiator.

Predictable material costs allow estimators to bid with greater confidence, contractors to reduce contingency padding, and project managers to avoid reactive decision-making later in the build. Lower exposure also reduces the need to warehouse material early, freeing capital and simplifying logistics.

In this environment, wire choice influences more than the electrical scope. It shapes how risk is distributed across the entire project.

Building Forward in a High-Volatility Market

Copper volatility is no longer an occasional disruption — it has become part of the baseline. Commercial projects that recognize this early are better positioned to protect schedules, budgets, and margins.

The question facing owners, contractors, and designers isn't whether copper prices will move again. It's whether projects are structured to absorb that movement without unraveling downstream decisions.

As copper continues to test — and periodically exceed — the $6-per-pound threshold, predictability has become a defining feature of resilient commercial projects. That's why more commercial teams are turning to Copperweld CCA Metal-Clad Cable to improve material cost stability and bring greater predictability to commercial project economics.

Copperweld is the world leader in bimetallic wire and cable, specializing in power and grounding conductors for building construction, power grid, utilities, communications, and transportation. For over 110 years, Copperweld's metallurgical expertise and value-engineering approach have produced bimetallic products that revolutionize industries. Copperweld's commitment to American-made products lies in sourcing and manufacturing facilities in the heart of the USA, and the culture of excellence and innovation that inspired them over a century ago still drives them today.
