45,000-square-foot destination will anchor comprehensive health & wellness offerings within landmark redevelopment while expanding Life Time's presence across Greater Boston

BOSTON, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Time, (NYSE: LTH), the nation's premier healthy lifestyle brand, today announced plans to open a new athletic club and social wellness destination at Commonwealth Pier in late 2027. The club will be Life Time's eighth in the Greater Boston market since debuting in 2015 and will bring its distinctive healthy way of life ecosystem to one of the country's most dynamic waterfront neighborhoods.

Located in Boston's Seaport District, the approximately 45,000-square-foot destination will overlook Boston Harbor and occupy a prominent location within Commonwealth Pier, the historic waterfront property reimagined by Pembroke as a vibrant mixed-use destination featuring premier office, retail, hospitality and cultural experiences. Pembroke has transformed the historic pier into an iconic destination designed to foster connection with the waterfront, the Seaport neighborhood and the city's rich history and culture.

"The opportunity to introduce Life Time to the Seaport neighborhood makes Commonwealth Pier especially compelling as we look for locations where we can have the greatest impact on how people live," said Parham Javaheri, Executive Vice President, President Real Estate and Chief Property Development Officer. "We're excited to create an athletic club with fitness, wellness and social spaces and experiences that reflect the character and rhythm of the neighborhood and feel distinctly connected to Boston."

Life Time's architecture and design team is creating a destination that maximizes its first waterfront setting with dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass windows, soaring 40-foot ceilings and panoramic views of Boston Harbor. Once open, members will enjoy one of the most distinctive environments in the company's growing Boston portfolio, complete with Life Time's exclusive boutique studio formats and classes, dynamic personal training, a co-ed rejuvenation wet suite featuring sauna, warm and cold thermal experiences, and recovery-focused amenities designed to support overall well-being, performance and healthy aging. It will also feature a LifeCafe and bar.

"We are thrilled to welcome Life Time to Commonwealth Pier and bring its distinctive approach to health, wellness and community to Boston's waterfront," said Kristan McLaughlin, Director, Customer Experience and Asset Operations, Pembroke. "What is particularly exciting is the opportunity to extend that impact beyond Life Time's membership through free public fitness programming and broader community partnerships. Together with Life Time and the Museum of American Finance, we also look forward to exploring programming with Boston Public Schools that supports student enrichment across both mind and body."

Originally opened in 1913 as the largest pier building in the Northeast and later home to the Seaport World Trade Center, Commonwealth Pier has played an important role on Boston's waterfront for more than a century. Pembroke's redevelopment preserves that history while introducing a new mix of office, dining, retail, cultural and public spaces, including a revitalized Harborwalk that reconnects the property with Boston Harbor.

Life Time entered the Boston market in 2015 with the opening of Life Time Westwood, and today operates additional destinations in Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Medford, and Peabody and, most recently The Prudential Center, which opened in October 2025. The addition of Commonwealth Pier further strengthens Life Time's presence in some of Greater Boston's most vibrant and desirable communities.

Atlantic Retail's Peter Considine and Sean Gildea represented Life Time in the transaction. Graffito's Dave Downing and Angela VanArsdale represented Pembroke in this transaction.

A waitlist has been established for those interested in learning more and having the opportunity to join as members. Further information will be announced in the coming months. For more information about Life Time, visit the Life Time Newsroom, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.

Outer Spaces Launches With A New Category Beyond The Walls of The Home - Merging Outdoor Living With Home Energy

Founded by the entrepreneurs behind outdoor living brand Outer, the company builds a world first: solar generation and battery storage inside the structure of a backyard pavilion, with first availability beginning in 2027

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. , Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Outer Spaces, a new company bridging the future of residential energy with architectural consumer design, today launched a new product category that combines solar power and battery storage with modular architecture.

The company launches with an $8 million pre-seed round of financing led by Upfront Ventures, with participation from Unlock Venture Partners, Mucker Capital, and Genius Ventures. Outer Spaces was founded by serial entrepreneur Jiake Liu, designer Terry Lin, and CTO Robin Liao, the creators behind the direct-to-consumer outdoor living brand Outer. Together, they bring a combined background in engineering, product design, and consumer brand-building to residential energy.

Invisibly Powerful. Beautifully Structural.

With integrated solar, invisible battery storage, and multiple configurations, OS1 creates endless possibilities for gathering, working, cooking or recharging outside, all while powering the home. Its solar pavilion generates energy overhead, while the power deck houses ultra-thin battery storage beneath a finished outdoor deck. Together, they create an outdoor structure that produces power through the day and can provide backup power.

Until now, residential solar has been designed as industrial equipment: panels attached to the roof, exposed batteries occupying space in a garage or along an exterior wall. The technology has advanced considerably but the way it looks and the way it fits into people's lives has not. Thoughtful design is what's been missing.

"The land and sunlight outside our homes are two of our most valuable, yet underutilized resources. At the same time, the technology needed to generate and store energy at homes already exists," said Jiake Liu, co-founder and CEO of Outer Spaces. "We believe power should do more than run a house. It should expand how you live in it. Rather than asking homeowners to compromise the appearance and safety of their homes, we're giving them more livable space that also powers it."

The first Outer Spaces systems will be available beginning in 2027, starting in Southern California and select markets. Homeowners will configure and order their system online, and the company will also sell through solar installers, builders, landscapers, developers and designers. Pricing will be announced in early 2027.

Homeowners can register today at www.outerspaces.co to receive updates on launch pricing and request priority scheduling in the initial installation markets, ahead of general availability. Installers, builders, developers, and designers interested in carrying the system can apply to the company's partner program at the same address.

The first product will be offered in two sizes, 12 feet by 12 feet and 12 feet by 24 feet, adding 144 or 288 square feet of finished outdoor living space that can be used in multiple ways: as an outdoor living room, dining area, kitchen, office, gym or wellness space. Configurations will offer 2.4 TO 5.3 kilowatts of solar generation and between 15 and 60 kilowatt-hours of battery storage, enough to offset a meaningful share of a household's daily electricity use and to keep the home running through an outage.

Configure Online. Assemble on Site.

Designed as a modular product that is simple, precise and predictable to install – rather than a custom construction project – the system requires minimal to no excavation. Designed for rapid on-site assembly, OS1's innovative architecture significantly reduces installation complexity compared to traditional outdoor construction, with no concrete pouring or lumber cutting, and minimal noise, after which a licensed electrician connects the energy system to the home.

Built like Infrastructure. Feels Like Home.

"People care how their homes look, yet the solar industry has asked them to stop caring," said Terry Lin, co-founder and chief design officer of Outer Spaces. "We approached residential energy as an architectural and consumer-design challenge to create a space people would want in their backyard."

"Having personally gone through a painfully slow and expensive backyard deck construction project and solar installation, I wish Outer Spaces had existed," said Kevin Zhang, General Partner, Upfront Ventures. "Thrilled to back Jiake and Terry again in this new vision: they have invented a beautiful, flexible backyard space that provides seamless home energy independence, and the best part is it doesn't require full construction crews and lengthy permitting."

Outer Spaces will use the funding to build the team and pursue channel partnerships.

The company will show the system publicly for the first time at RE+ 2026, November 16–19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, West Hall — Booth #W17153.

About Outer Spaces

Outer Spaces imagines a future where every backyard powers better living. We are creating a new category beyond the walls of home: residential solar and battery storage built into the structure of an outdoor living space. OS1, our solar pavilion and power deck system, pairs on-site solar generation with invisible battery storage and multiple configurations, creating endless possibilities for gathering, working, cooking, training, or recharging outside – all while powering the home. Designed for rapid on-site assembly, OS1's innovative architecture significantly reduces installation complexity compared to traditional outdoor construction, giving installers, developers, and designers an alternative to conventional rooftop arrays and wall-mounted battery packs. Outer Spaces was founded in 2025 by Jiake Liu, Terry Lin, and Robin Liao, the founders of outdoor living brand Outer, and is based in El Segundo, Calif. Learn more at www.outerspaces.co.

Could You Pass a Battery Safety Test? New Quiz Challenges Americans' Charging Habits During Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4 - 10)

Cirba Solutions' free Battery Smarts Quiz turns national consumer research into 10 questions to boost battery safety awareness

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The average American owns 11 products powered by lithium batteries. Most people use one every day, but few were taught how to properly charge, store or dispose of them safely. To close that gap, Cirba Solutions, the leading battery recycling materials and management company in North America, today launched the Battery Smarts Quiz, a free online tool that helps people test and improve their battery safety knowledge in minutes.

The launch comes during Fire Prevention Week™ (Oct. 4-10), hosted each year by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This year's theme, "Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower," focuses on the everyday charging habits that help keep homes and communities safe.

The quiz builds directly on The Missing Link: Consumer Awareness in the Battery Life Cycle, the consumer study Cirba Solutions released earlier this year as a follow-up to its 2024 research. The study found that 91 percent of Americans would recycle their lithium batteries if it were as easy as throwing them away, but most responded that they do not know how or where.

"Our research told us exactly where the knowledge gaps are, so we built the quiz around them," said Karen Gay, Community Engagement Manager at Cirba Solutions. "We wanted it to feel less like a lecture and more like a safety challenge you want to share with your friends and family – a fun way to gain knowledge around something most of us do every day. If someone walks away knowing to charge their e-bike away from the front door, or to tape the terminals of a used battery before recycling it instead of tossing it in the trash, that's a win for their household and their community."

In 10 questions, the quiz covers the moments that matter most:

- Choosing a charger: why the right charger matters.

- Where to charge: the best spots for phones, laptops, e-bikes, e-scooters, etc.

- When to unplug: how long devices should stay on the charger.

- Warning signs: what to do if a battery gets hot or swells.

- Disposal: how to get rid of end-of-life batteries safely.

- Recycling know-how: what can be recycled and how American consumers stack up.

Each answer includes a short explanation of why it matters. At the end, users get a result ranging from "Champion Charger" to "Reset Required," plus a shareable card to post across multiple platforms and challenge friends and family.

The quiz expands on #BatterySmarts, Cirba Solutions' ongoing social media series in which employees answer common battery safety and recycling questions and brings those lessons together in one place for anyone to take and share. It's also the latest resource from SustainABILITY 10,000, the company's commitment to 10,000 hours of community engagement and education across North America, and supports the initiative's Digital Advocacy pillar, which focuses on online tools that any community can use.

Take the Battery Smarts Quiz here and follow #BatterySmarts on Cirba Solutions' LinkedIn for more battery safety tips.

Since launching the GHRI in August 2024, CenterPoint Energy has completed a series of resiliency improvements across its 12-county Greater Houston service area, including:

Lytx Webinar to Examine How Broker Liability Ruling Could Reshape Carrier Vetting
Image File
Original HTML

Fireside chat will explore what fleets may need to show as brokers place greater emphasis on documented safety performance

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lytx® Inc., the industry leader in AI-powered fleet management, today announced it will host a live webinar, "Is Your Safety Record Broker Ready?", on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. PT. The fireside chat will examine how broker-carrier relationships may change following the Supreme Court's unanimous ruling in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, which opened the door for brokers to face state-law claims for negligent carrier selection.

As brokers reassess carrier approval and retention practices, fleets may face increased scrutiny of their safety records, public data, inspection histories and documentation. The webinar will bring together legal, insurance, and fleet safety perspectives to help carriers understand what may be expected and how they can prepare.

"In today's freight environment, a strong safety record is more than proof of compliance, it is a competitive advantage," said Shelley Bennett, Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Lytx. "As broker expectations evolve, carriers that can clearly demonstrate their commitment to safety will be better positioned to reduce risk, build trust, and protect their access to freight."

The session will be moderated by Shelley Bennett and will feature:

- Shaun Carr, Senior Vice President of Transportation & Logistics at Marsh

- Dylan West, Safety Compliance and Training Manager at Keystops LLC

- Ida Sassani, Shareholder at Baker Donelson

- Meredith Priestley, Chief Legal Officer at Cargo Transporters

What you'll take away from this webinar:

- Whether you are just getting up to speed on what the ruling means, or you are already evaluating how to strengthen your safety program, this session meets you where you are.

- You will hear what brokers are looking for, what a defensible safety record looks like in practice, and what the fleets staying ahead of this are doing differently.

In HelloNation, Funeral Services Expert Sparky Clark Shares Guidance on What to Do When a Loved One Dies
Image File
Original HTML

The article outlines practical first steps that help families navigate immediate responsibilities after the loss of a loved one.

MIDLAND, Texas, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What should you do first when a loved one dies? In a HelloNation article, Funeral Services Expert Sparky Clark of Willowbrook Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Midland, Texas, explains the first steps families can take to manage immediate responsibilities while honoring their loved one with care.

The article explains that knowing what to do when a loved one dies can provide reassurance during one of life's most difficult moments. While grief can make every decision feel overwhelming, approaching each responsibility one step at a time allows families to focus on what needs immediate attention without feeling pressured to do everything at once.

According to the article, one of the first responsibilities is obtaining a legal pronouncement of death. If the death occurs in a hospital, hospice, or nursing home, medical professionals typically handle this process. When a death occurs at home without hospice care, emergency services or local authorities should be contacted so the proper procedures can be followed before additional arrangements begin.

The article also explains that families should notify close relatives and trusted friends after the death has been legally confirmed. Sharing the responsibility of making phone calls with siblings or other family members can make the process more manageable while giving everyone time to inform employers, clergy, and others who played an important role in the person's life.

Another important step is contacting a trusted funeral home. The article notes that experienced funeral professionals help coordinate transportation, explain available services, assist with required paperwork, and answer questions about the planning process. Their guidance allows families to spend more time supporting one another while arrangements move forward.

The article encourages families to review any funeral preplanning documents or written instructions before making major decisions. Understanding a loved one's preferences for burial or cremation, music, readings, religious traditions, or the type of service they envisioned helps ensure funeral planning reflects their personal wishes and values.

Obtaining certified copies of the death certificate is another important responsibility discussed in the article. Death certificates are required for many legal and financial matters, including insurance claims, banking, Social Security notifications, and estate administration. Funeral professionals can often help families determine how many certified copies may be needed.

As planning continues, the article explains that families can begin making funeral arrangements that reflect their loved one's life and legacy. Whether they choose a visitation, funeral service, graveside ceremony, memorial service, or celebration of life, there is no single right approach. Personalizing funeral arrangements allows families to create a meaningful tribute that honors the individual being remembered.

The article also highlights practical responsibilities that often follow a loss, including notifying employers, insurance companies, financial institutions, veterans' organizations, and government agencies. Families may also need to secure the person's home, arrange care for pets, forward mail, and organize important records. Completing these tasks gradually helps reduce unnecessary stress.

In addition to handling practical matters, the article emphasizes the importance of grief support. Family members, friends, clergy, and community organizations can provide encouragement, comfort, and practical assistance during the days and weeks following a loss. Even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference while families adjust to life after the death of a loved one.

The article concludes that understanding what to do when a loved one dies provides a helpful starting point during an emotional time. The guidance shared by Funeral Services Expert Sparky Clark encourages families to work with a trusted funeral home, organize funeral planning, obtain the necessary death certificate, create meaningful funeral arrangements, and accept grief support as they move forward one step at a time.

XRDNA Completes Phase I of Project OPAL, First Mission Field Test of Mission Fabric™
Image File

Operational Prototyping for Advanced Logistics initiative moves XRDNA's persistent identity, sensor fusion, and AI-assisted mission infrastructure into the field

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- XRDNA Inc., developer of persistent identity and mission-context infrastructure for complex physical and digital systems, announced the successful completion of Phase I of Project OPAL — Operational Prototyping for Advanced Logistics — the company's ongoing field prototyping initiative for Mission Fabric™ and related technologies.

Phase I of Project OPAL moved XRDNA's technology beyond laboratory and software demonstrations into a live field environment alongside participating mission partners.

The internally funded development tested XRDNA's ability to create and maintain a common digital representation of an actual mission across people, places, things, sensors, and operational activities.

During the field test, XRDNA created and operated a live mission and manifest within Mission Fabric, connecting personnel, field locations, mobile assets, sensor nodes, drones, and simulated downrange payloads through persistent eVa™ (Elastic Vector Addressing) identities.

Rather than treating sensor feeds and mission systems as isolated sources of information, Mission Fabric maintained the relationships between those elements as the mission evolved.

MoE™ (Map of Everything) provided the AI-assisted interaction layer, allowing operators to work with the mission context created by Mission Fabric and the underlying eVa identities. Sensor observations and field inputs could be associated with the people, places, and things they represented, creating a continuously evolving mission picture rather than a collection of disconnected data feeds.

The field environment also provided XRDNA an opportunity to evaluate the system under practical operational constraints, including mobile devices, distributed sensors, changing asset relationships, communications limitations, and field-driven mission workflows.

"Phase I of Project OPAL was an important transition for XRDNA because we weren't demonstrating Mission Fabric against a scripted software environment—we were using it to represent an actual mission unfolding around us," said Charles Adelman, CEO and Co-Founder of XRDNA. "People moved. Assets moved. Sensors generated observations. Communications changed. Mission relationships evolved. The underlying identity of those elements had to remain persistent throughout all of it. That is exactly the problem Mission Fabric was designed to solve."

Project OPAL is intended to continue as an iterative operational prototyping effort, with future phases expanding the complexity of mission scenarios, participating systems, sensor integrations, communications environments, and operational mission workflows evaluated in the field.

Phase I also provided XRDNA with field observations and warfighter feedback that will inform continued development of Mission Fabric, MoE, eVa, Field View, sensor integration, and XRDNA's broader mission infrastructure.

The field test represents the necessary validation milestones for XRDNA and its vision of providing an identity, resolution, and trust infrastructure capable of connecting heterogeneous systems across terrestrial, airborne, space, and simulated environments.

About XRDNA

XRDNA builds persistent identity, trust, and mission-context infrastructure for complex systems. Its core technologies—eVa™ (Elastic Vector Addressing), SoI™ (Spheres of Influence), Mission Fabric™, and MoE™ (Map of Everything)—work together to connect people, places, things, systems, sensors, and autonomous platforms across physical, digital, autonomous, and simulated environments.

By maintaining identity, relationships, authority, and context as missions evolve, XRDNA enables continuity across heterogeneous systems and operational domains.

Mission context without boundaries.

ARUP Artificial Intelligence Project Selected for Redtail AI Factory Challenge Project
Image File
Original HTML

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ARUP Laboratories has been selected for the second cohort of challenge projects in Utah's Redtail AI Factory with its project, "Scaling EventHorizon with Redtail: A Foundation Model for Clinical Flow Cytometry."

The award will provide researchers at the ARUP Institute for Research and Innovation in Diagnostic and Precision Medicine™ (R&I Institute) with access to Redtail, a new statewide artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputing infrastructure managed by the University of Utah. Use of Redtail will enable the team to accelerate development of a proprietary foundation model designed to enhance the analysis of clinical flow cytometry data.

"Redtail gives us access to computational power that can dramatically accelerate innovation," said Robert Ohgami, MD, PhD, MBA, FCAP, vice president of the ARUP R&I Institute. "What might take months or longer using conventional resources can be accomplished in a fraction of the time, helping us develop AI tools that support pathologists and improve care for patients."

The project was chosen through a competitive review process that evaluated proposals based on their readiness, innovation potential, anticipated impact, and ability to leverage Redtail's advanced computing capabilities.

Manish Parashar, U chief AI officer and executive director of the U's Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, congratulated ARUP and other Redtail challenge winners who are tackling important research endeavors.

"These teams will serve as pioneers on the Redtail system, paving the way for the rest of the state and demonstrating how advanced AI, enabled by Redtail, can amplify Utah's expertise, keep us at the forefront of innovation, and deliver real benefits to all Utahns," he said.

ARUP's EventHorizon model is being developed by a team made up of David Ng, MD, FCAP, medical director of Hematopathology, Hematologic Flow Cytometry, and Applied Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics, and research data scientists Muir Morrison and Mattia Medina Grespan. The tool aims to assist pathologists in analyzing complex flow cytometry data to help diagnose blood cancers and other hematologic diseases.

By training on substantially larger datasets and performing more extensive computational iterations, the model could help identify rare and diagnostically challenging disease patterns that might otherwise be difficult to recognize, Ohgami said. It also has the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce turnaround times, and help patients receive appropriate therapies sooner.

The Redtail AI Factory recently ranked No. 159 on the Top 500 list of the world's fastest supercomputers and No. 76 on the Green 500 list for energy efficiency, placing it among the nation's leading academic AI computing resources, according to the U. Among U.S. public universities, Redtail ranks fifth.

Redtail was created through a $50 million public-private partnership among the U, the state of Utah, Brynn Ballard and Peter Huntsman, and the Huntsman Family Foundation and features state-of-the-art AI infrastructure from Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NVIDIA. The initiative aims to expand access to advanced AI infrastructure for researchers, educators, students, and industry collaborators throughout Utah. More information and a list of other challenge project awards are available on the Redtail website.
