Approval provides a replacement path for Mark V computers using existing avionics racks

OLATHE, Kan., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Avcon Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Butler National Corporation (OTCQX: BUKS), a leading manufacturer and systems integrator for special mission aircraft modifications, announces Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval of the installation of the Honeywell Aerospace MKV-A Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS).

Honeywell Aerospace is phasing out the landmark Mark V Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and is making it easy for operators to upgrade to the next generation of terrain awareness and runway safety technology with the MKV-A. Offering higher resolution databases, enhanced safety & situational awareness, and resilience to GPS jamming & spoofing, the MKV-A continues with industry-leading enhancements to the EGPWS product line at Honeywell Aerospace. The MKV-A will be available as a drop-in replacement for the operator's existing MKV with options to upgrade capabilities down the road.

All equipment associated with the modification is anticipated to be sourced from Honeywell Aerospace. MKV-A EGPWS computers are available for shipment. STC licensing and FAA STC information is available from Avcon.

In 2000, the FAA mandated EGPWS or Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS) equipment on turbine-powered airplanes that are configured to have six or more passenger seats. FAA regulations require all Bombardier and Learjet airplanes (Except certain Model 23/24 airframes) to have a TAWS or EGPWS system installed.

The FAA issued Avcon the Approved Models List (AML) STC No. ST12439CH that replaces the Honeywell Aerospace MKV EGPWS computer with the MKV-A computer in the Learjet Models 40/45 and 60 and the Bombardier Models CL-600-1A11 (600), CL-600-2A12 (601), CL-600-2B16 (601-3A Variant), CL-600-2B16 (601-3R Variant), CL-600-2B16 (604 Variant), BD-700-1A10, and BD-700-1A11. The installation uses existing avionics racks and is designed to minimize installation effort.

Avcon is in the process of applying for Transport Canada (TC), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) validation/approval of the FAA STC.

"Avcon is committed to supporting customers with FAA-approved solutions to obsolescence," said Marcus Abendroth, President of Avcon. "We appreciate the cooperation with Honeywell Aerospace to achieve the STC result. The form, fit and functional MKV-A replacement should minimize the replacement effort. Operators may accomplish this modification at our New Century, Kansas facility or at the operator's qualified avionics modification center." Added Mr. Abendroth.

Hycroft Drills New Best Hole Ever

Vortex Returns 19.6 meters at 30.49 g/t Gold and 1,726.72 g/t Silver

Highest Gold Grades in Hycroft's History

WINNEMUCCA, Nev., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: HYMC) ("Hycroft" or "the Company"), a U.S.-based gold and silver exploration and development company that owns the Hycroft Mine, today announces additional drill results from the 2025 - 2026 Exploration Drill Program (the "Drill Program"), including the highest-grade intercept reported in the Company's history.

Vortex Highlights:

- Hole H26D-6175A:

- 19.6 meters at 30.49 g/t gold and 1,726.72 g/t silver

- Including 1.7 meters at 347.07 g/t gold and 9,526.36 g/t silver

- Visible gold present in the intercept

- Represents the best hole ever drilled in Hycroft's more than 40-year history and the highest gold grades ever reported at Hycroft

- Highest silver grades ever drilled at Vortex

- This intercept extends farther to the west and south of previously reported high-grade gold and silver intercepts

- The style of alteration and mineralization could indicate proximity to a potential source of the Vortex system

Diane Garrett, Executive Chairman and CEO, commented: "Hole H26D-6175A is an exceptional result and the best hole in our history. The silver-equivalent grade is more than 50% higher than that of our previous best hole, and this intercept contained the highest gold grades ever reported at Hycroft, with visible gold observed in the intercept. The combination of higher grades and longer intercepts suggests we may be getting close to a potential source of the Vortex system. Follow-up drilling is already underway and we look forward to accelerating the work at the Vortex and Brimstone systems."

In addition to the high-grade gold and silver intercepts noted above, H26D-6175A also intersected significant intervals of gold and silver mineralization throughout the length of the hole, further enhancing the mineralization within the resource.

The figure below represents gold interpolants in the Vortex system using a 1.0 g/t gold cutoff grade.

Texas Criminal & Family Attorney Brittany Lannen Explains What Happens After an Arrest in Texas in HelloNation
Image File

The Article Outlines Booking, Court Appearances, Bond Decisions, Release Conditions, and Other Steps That May Follow an Arrest

WACO, Texas, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What happens after you are arrested in Texas? HelloNation has published an article featuring insights from Brittany Lannen of Lannen Law, PLLC, that answers this question.

The article explains that the first hours and days after an arrest in Texas can involve several important steps. The process may vary based on the alleged offense, the county handling the case, and whether the person remains in custody.

Booking is generally one of the first steps. The article notes that law enforcement records identifying information, fingerprints, photographs, and the alleged charge. Law enforcement may also collect and store personal property until the person is released.

After booking, the accused generally appears before a magistrate. The article explains that Texas law requires certain warnings and procedures during this stage. The magistrate advises the accused about the allegations and important constitutional and legal rights.

This first court appearance, sometimes called magistration, does not determine guilt or innocence. Instead, it addresses immediate legal matters following the arrest. The article emphasizes that the proceeding focuses on the accusation, legal rights, and possible release conditions.

Bond can become an immediate concern during a Texas criminal charge. The article explains that a magistrate may determine whether bond is available and what conditions apply. The decision can depend on the charge and the circumstances surrounding the case.

According to the article, courts may consider the alleged offense, community safety, criminal history, and other factors permitted under Texas law. Release conditions may also accompany the financial terms of bond.

Those release conditions can remain important while the criminal case is pending. The article notes that conditions may restrict contact with certain people, limit travel, or require compliance with other court instructions. Violations can create additional legal problems and may affect bond status.

The article also describes how a Texas criminal charge may proceed after these initial stages. Prosecutors review available evidence and decide how to proceed with the accusation. The process can include formal charging decisions, court settings, evidence review, negotiations, motions, and potentially a trial.

Communication is another consideration after an arrest in Texas. The article explains that statements to friends, family members, alleged victims, witnesses, or on social media can sometimes become relevant evidence. Even informal conversations can create complications if someone later reports what was said.

The article advises readers to pay close attention to court dates and release requirements. Missing a required appearance can lead to additional consequences. Changes in contact information should also follow applicable court procedures so you receive important notices.

The HelloNation article further explains that an arrest and a conviction are different events. An arrest begins a legal process based on an accusation. The prosecution must still proceed through the criminal justice system, while the accused retains legal rights throughout the process.

For Texas Criminal & Family Attorney Brittany Lannen, the article offers readers a practical overview of the stages that may follow an arrest. The charge, evidence, bond decision, release conditions, and local court procedures can each affect how a case moves forward.

Sensor Patch Market to Reach US$ 28.9 Bn by 2031, Growing at 29.6% CAGR as Continuous Glucose and Cardiac Monitoring Expand: Wissen Research
Image File
Original HTML

SHERIDAN, Wyo., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ --

How big is the sensor patch market, and why is it growing so fast?

The global sensor patch market is valued at USD 7.9 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach USD 28.9 billion by 2031, growing at a CAGR of 29.6% over the forecast period (2026–2031), according to a new study by Wissen Research.

Sensor patches are adhesive, skin-worn devices that continuously or periodically measure signals such as glucose, cardiac activity, and temperature, and transmit the data wirelessly to a smartphone, cloud platform, or clinician. Demand is rising with the global burden of chronic disease, which the World Health Organization links to about 41 million deaths a year, roughly 71% of all deaths worldwide, and with diabetes, which the International Diabetes Federation estimates affected about 589 million adults aged 20–79 in 2024. As care shifts toward remote and home settings, continuous glucose monitoring and ambulatory cardiac monitoring patches are becoming core tools for managing long-term conditions outside the clinic.

From Single-Parameter Patches to Connected, Multimodal Monitoring

The industry is moving away from simple, single-parameter devices toward connected, multimodal sensing systems. Glucose and ECG patches are the commercially mature applications today, while development is focused on temperature, blood pressure, hydration, metabolism, and biochemical sensing. Research platforms increasingly combine electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical, and biochemical sensing on a single flexible electronics substrate, which gives a richer physiological picture than any single device, although many of these systems are still at various stages of validation rather than mass-market maturity.

Biofluid sensing is a second frontier. Wearable microfluidics can collect and analyze sweat, interstitial fluid, saliva, tears, and wound exudate, opening the door to minimally invasive tracking of electrolytes, metabolites, and other biomarkers. Longer-wear glucose products, such as Dexcom's G7 15 Day system and Senseonics' Eversense 365, show the parallel push toward extended wear and fewer sensor replacements, while connectivity with smartphones, cloud platforms, and remote patient monitoring programs turns each patch into a continuous data source for clinicians.

Glucose and Ketones in One Wearable: CGM Reaches a Wider Audience

Glucose monitoring is broadening in two directions. On the clinical side, dual-analyte sensing is arriving: Abbott secured CE Mark approval for Libre Duo, a wearable that continuously tracks both glucose and ketones. On the consumer side, DexCom received FDA clearance to extend its Stelo biosensor to children aged 2 and older who do not use insulin, and announced a redesigned app and planned expansion into the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. Together, these moves show continuous monitoring expanding beyond traditional insulin-dependent users toward wider wellness and prevention use.

What's Fueling Growth in the Sensor Patch Market

- Rising Chronic Disease Burden: Diabetes, heart disease, and chronic lung conditions require frequent measurement, creating demand for continuous monitoring outside traditional clinical settings.

- Growing Diabetes Prevalence: Hundreds of millions of people living with diabetes are expanding the base of potential users for glucose-sensing patches.

- Remote and Home Healthcare: Patches that transmit physiological data to clinicians and digital health platforms reduce reliance on repeated in-clinic measurements and support more mobile patients.

- Advances in Flexible Electronics: Conformable materials, miniaturized low-power components, microfluidics, and wireless communication allow longer, more comfortable wear and more varied measurements.

- Regulatory Acceptance: U.S. FDA records now list multiple cleared continuous glucose monitoring systems from Abbott, Dexcom, and Senseonics, along with ECG patch systems such as iRhythm's Zio, which established a clear regulatory pathway for patch-based monitoring.

- Extended Wear and Wider Access: Longer-wear sensors and consumer-oriented products are lowering replacement frequency and widening the user base.

Challenges Facing the Sensor Patch Market

Maintaining accuracy over long wear periods is the main technical challenge. Signal drift, calibration, biofouling, skin adhesion, battery life, and mechanical deformation all influence performance, and differences in physiology between users can require sophisticated algorithms, calibration routines, and validation. Skin compatibility and comfort matter just as much, since a patch that irritates or detaches will not be worn.

Regulation and data governance add further complexity. Manufacturers must demonstrate safety, efficacy, and software usability for patches that perform monitoring or diagnostic functions, and connected devices must address data security and interoperability across healthcare systems. For newer biochemical and multimodal applications, reaching the mass market will still require clinical validation, scaled-up manufacturing, better calibration, and clearer regulatory frameworks.

Recent Strategic Developments in the Sensor Patch Market

In June 2026, DexCom, Inc. received FDA clearance expanding Stelo to children aged 2 and older who do not use insulin, announced a redesigned Stelo app, and outlined planned expansion into the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.

In May 2026, Abbott Laboratories secured CE Mark approval for Libre Duo and Libre Duo 10 Day, dual glucose-ketone wearables offering up to 15 or 10 days of wear and integrating with Abbott's Libre digital health ecosystem, with European launches planned later in 2026.

In April 2026, iRhythm Technologies, Inc. agreed to acquire VitalConnect, Inc. for approximately USD 287.5 million, combining its Zio cardiac monitoring service with VitalConnect's VitalPatch biosensor, which uses AI-enabled algorithms to deliver real-time ECG and vital-sign data through cloud connectivity, and expanding iRhythm's hospital and remote-care reach.

Taken together, these moves show consolidation among cardiac monitoring providers, wider access to glucose monitoring, and growing interest in multi-analyte sensing.

Key Insights from Sensor Patch Market Analysis

- Amperometric technology held the largest share by technology type in 2025, supported by the scale of continuous glucose monitoring. Abbott reports about 7 million FreeStyle Libre users worldwide and USD 6.8 billion in 2024 diabetes care revenue, while DexCom reported USD 4.662 billion in 2025 revenue, up 16% from 2024, and about 3.5 million customers at year-end 2025.

- Bodywear held the largest share by wearable type in 2025, driven by sensors worn on the upper arm and torso. iRhythm reported USD 747.1 million in 2025 revenue, up 26.2%, on growing Zio volume, reinforcing demand for body-worn cardiac patches.

- North America held the largest regional share in 2025, supported by developed healthcare infrastructure, strong adoption of digital health, a favorable regulatory framework, and the presence of leading glucose and cardiac monitoring companies.

- Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region, with the report covering China, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand, and South Korea.

- The market is moderately consolidated in established applications such as continuous glucose monitoring and ambulatory cardiac monitoring, but fragmented across emerging sensing technologies, where competition turns on accuracy, clinical validation, wear duration, connectivity, and manufacturing scale.

Key Players in the Sensor Patch Market

Leading companies in the sensor patch market are focused on continuous glucose monitoring, ambulatory cardiac monitoring, physiological sensing, flexible electronics, sensor miniaturization, wireless connectivity, and data analytics.

Regional Analysis and Growth Opportunities

10 Research Opportunities Poised to Advance Child Health

Cincinnati Children's research leader Tina Cheng, MD, MPH, and colleagues identify priority areas that could transform health—not just during childhood, but across the lifespan

CINCINNATI, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten areas of pediatric research could drive the next generation of major advances in child health, according to a new special article in Pediatric Research led by Cincinnati Children's research leader Tina Cheng, MD, MPH.

Cheng, who leads the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation, worked with Stephen Daniels, MD, PhD, of Children's Hospital Colorado; Jessica Snowden, MD, MS, of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center; and Tracy Glauser, MD, associate director of the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation, to identify the 10 next great research opportunities in child health.

Their work builds on a previous report about seven great achievements in child health research that Cheng co-authored in 2016.

"To realize the promise of the 10 areas requires funding and support to maintain and accelerate momentum and to fully translate science to practice and policy. However, we often take for granted the research progress of the past," Cheng says. "Recently, U.S. federal support for biomedical research has been seriously challenged. Child health research has been historically underfunded compared to research on adult health issues, even in the best economic circumstances. It is more important than ever that research on child health issues receives an equitable share of available resources."

- Genetics, genomics, gene editing and gene therapy

- Mental health, behavioral health and neurodevelopment

- Vaccines, immunization and infectious disease prevention

- Artificial intelligence, digital health and informatics

- Neonatal care, prematurity, perinatal health and fetal origins of disease

- Personalized medicine and targeted therapeutics

- Social drivers, health disparities and health equity

- Obesity, nutrition and weight management

- Environmental health, climate change and exposures

- Cancer, cancer treatment and immunotherapy

Visual Comfort & Co. Announces New Design Partnership with Verena Brausch
Image File
Original HTML

HOUSTON, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Visual Comfort & Co. announces a new design partnership with Paris-based designer Verena Brausch, introducing her debut lighting collection for the brand. Drawing on her background in industrial, furniture, and interior design, Brausch brings a distinctive perspective to four product families spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall sconces, and table lamps.

"What drew us to Verena's work was her unique point of view, shaped by her background in industrial and interior design," said Sean Lavin, Chief Design Officer of Visual Comfort & Co. "Her attention to proportion and materials gives each piece a strong visual presence, with the quality of light central to every design."

Throughout the collection, Brausch contrasts solid and translucent materials, using etched glass and natural alabaster to soften and diffuse the light.

- GLOW combines architectural geometry with soft, diffused light, while its glass dome gives the piece a sculptural, tactile and quietly distinctive character.

- FAUBOURG table lamps are conceived as illuminated sculptures, balancing a softly diffused glass dome with a precise brass or bronze base, giving them a quiet contemporary elegance.

- EVER is a highly sculptural lighting family, combining radial movement and refined proportions with natural alabaster and brass and bronze forms to create a strong architectural presence.

- BOULE is conceived around atmosphere, elegance and repetition, with softly glowing glass forms creating a refined sense of rhythm and movement.

Together, the four series express a shared language of material, proportion and light, while each retains its own distinct character.

"I wanted the collection to bring together noble materials, precision and a strong sense of presence. Lighting is deeply personal and emotional, and each piece is designed to elevate a room in a natural way. It has been incredibly exciting to develop this vision with Visual Comfort and bring it to life as a complete lighting collection," said Verena Brausch.

The Verena Brausch for Visual Comfort & Co. collection debuts at Fall High Point Market, with a Verena Brausch Collection Launch Party on Sunday, October 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Visual Comfort & Co.'s High Point showroom.

About Verena Brausch:

Verena Brausch creates furniture, lighting and interior objects defined by sculptural clarity, refined proportions and a distinctly modern elegance. Based in Paris and trained in transportation design, Brausch developed her instinct for precision, surface and silhouette through a career at BMW and Mercedes-Benz — principles that continue to define her approach to design. She works closely with specialized ateliers, bringing together craftsmanship, noble materials and a rigorous sense of form.
