Wink Introduces AI HD Video Converter for 4K, Scene-Aware Video Enhancement

Browser-based HD video converter tool combines adaptive enhancement, batch processing and flexible exports for reusable video content.

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Wink has introduced its HD Video Converter, an online tool for improving and repurposing existing footage. The tool is intended for creators, e-commerce sellers, social media teams and everyday users. It combines AI-powered video enhancement, scene-adaptive processing and flexible export options in a browser-based workflow. Changing file format or resolution is only part of the process.

According to the company, video from phones and cameras often passes through several stages before publication. A compressed copy may be made during transfer. A later version may be downloaded from a social platform or reused for a new campaign. By then, details may be softer, lighting uneven and compression artifacts more noticeable.

Wink released HD Video Converter to address these quality problems during conversion. Grainy noise can be reduced. The tool also refines fine textures and corrects color. It retains the recording's original movement and composition as the file is converted to HD.

What Wink HD Video Converter Offers

Wink combines four capabilities: scene-adaptive enhancement, resolution choices, cloud batch processing and reusable exports. These are intended to help prepare existing footage for its next use.

Scene-Adaptive Video Enhancement

Lighting can change within one recording. Wink adjusts its processing as those conditions change. The converter considers motion and depth alongside the light. Fine hair and pores are meant to remain visible. Processing aims to preserve skin texture. Smoothing and sharpening are limited to preserve natural light.

1080p, 2K and 4K Export Options

Resolution is a choice for the finished file. Users choose between 1080p, 2K and 4K for the file they will take to TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. An MP4, MOV or MKV recording from another device can come into Wink for conversion.

Cloud-Based Batch HD Video Conversion

Processing takes place online, reducing dependence on the power of a local computer. Batch HD video conversion handles multiple files in one job. A seller updating a catalogue of product clips, or a team preparing posts on deadline, can upload the group together. Users can organize the material for processing without starting a separate job for every file.

"The HD video converter responds to changes in light, movement and depth while keeping fine textures natural," said Daniel Carter, a Wink spokesperson. "Users can prepare 4K video for social content, process several files in the cloud and save HD video, still frames or Live Photos. That gives existing recordings more than one use."

One Video, Multiple Reusable Assets

Users may download the enhanced HD video at the end of a job. High-quality still frames are another option. A chosen highlight can be turned into a Live Photo. These exports give a single recording several uses. A creator can prepare compressed phone footage for a Reel. An e-commerce seller can process several product demonstrations together. A social media team could then pull a clear frame for a cover image or supporting post.

Wink HD Video Converter is available online and can be used directly through a web browser at https://wink.ai/hd-video-converter.

MILAN, Oct. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Some journeys continue to shape the way we eat, bringing cultures and traditions together across generations. Among them is the journey of ingredients from the Americas, which crossed the Atlantic over the centuries and found their way into European kitchens. Tomatoes, corn, potatoes, cocoa, peppers and vanilla transformed recipes and eating habits, eventually becoming essential to Italian cuisine.

Rather than simply being added to existing dishes, these ingredients were embraced and reimagined through local techniques, flavors and customs. Many of the dishes we now consider traditional Italian cuisine grew out of this exchange—a culinary heritage shaped over time by cultural encounters, adaptation and reinterpretation.

This is the inspiration behind "The Great Exchange – A Culinary Journey Between Two Worlds," a project by Maestro Martino Food Academy, an initiative of Associazione Maestro Martino, chaired by Chef Carlo Cracco. For the occasion, Cracco joined forces with Lorenzo Di Pace, Resident Chef at TOG Bistrot, in collaboration with the Prosecco DOC Consortium.

Bringing together history, culture and contemporary cuisine, the project explores how food has long served as a universal language connecting people, ideas and traditions. Every ingredient carries its own place of origin, history and culinary uses, but encounters with other cultures allow it to take on new meanings.

"Cuisine is one of our most dynamic forms of cultural heritage. It evolves, changes and grows through encounters between people and different cultures," said Chef Carlo Cracco, President of Associazione Maestro Martino. "Telling the story of how ingredients have traveled also means telling the story of our culinary identity and the value of cultural exchange, which continues to shape the way we eat today."

Prosecco DOC embodies this balance between a strong sense of place and an openness to the wider world. Deeply rooted in its Italian origins yet recognized and enjoyed internationally, Prosecco DOC featured in pairings inspired by the ingredients at the heart of the project. Its role extended beyond the glass, highlighting the wine as an ambassador of Italian excellence and a reflection of an Italian way of life that embraces connections with other cultures and traditions.

"Prosecco DOC is rooted in a distinct territory, but it has always approached the world with curiosity and openness. Supporting The Great Exchange is a way of celebrating an Italy that welcomes cultural exchange. At the table, just as in the glass, identity grows stronger through dialogue with other cultures," said Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Prosecco DOC Consortium. "We have been the Official Sparkling Wine of Maestro Martino Food Academy for six years, and we are delighted to join Chef Carlo Cracco for this special evening at TOG Bistrot, where a passion for food comes together with training opportunities for young people and a commitment to showcasing Italian excellence. The Americas account for more than 26% of Prosecco DOC exports, led by the United States, the denomination's largest market, with over 130 million bottles exported. Despite the challenges posed by inflation and tariffs, the U.S. market continues to demonstrate resilience and promising growth potential. Canada is also showing very positive momentum, having surpassed 10 million bottles in 2025 and recorded 17% growth in the first half of 2026. Emerging South American markets are equally dynamic, with Brazil standing out as one of the most promising."

The Great Exchange came to life through a dinner at TOG Bistrot in Milan, Maestro Martino Food Academy's training restaurant. From ingredients that traveled between continents to the combinations we enjoy at our tables today, the evening told the story of a cuisine that has never stood still—one that continually welcomes, transforms and incorporates new influences into its identity.

Through The Great Exchange, Maestro Martino Food Academy reaffirms its commitment to promoting Italian food culture as a means of education, storytelling and dialogue across communities. Beginning with ingredients, the project opens a conversation about the people, places and cultures that brought them together.

General David Petraeus Joins Century CEO Jesse Gary for Fireside Chat on National Security Risks from Foreign Primary Aluminum Supply
Image File

WASHINGTON, Oct. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the American Primary Aluminum Association (APAA) hosted a fireside chat between four-star General David Petraeus and Century Aluminum CEO Jesse Gary on the importance of domestic primary aluminum production to American national and economic security. In addition to the fireside chat, economist Dr. Adam Hersh, a research fellow at the University of Massachusetts, presented a study detailing how foreign government subsidies and unfair trade policies have contributed to the United States' remarkable shift from leading the global aluminum industry 25 years ago to producing just 1% of global capacity.

According to the Modern War Institute at West Point, aluminum is a "foundational material for aircraft, armored vehicles, naval systems, and munitions components." In 2022, the last American primary aluminum smelter capable of producing the high-purity aluminum required for many of these critical applications closed, leaving the United States reliant on foreign sources for this critical national security material. In June 2025, President Donald J. Trump imposed Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum to strengthen domestic aluminum production and support American manufacturers and workers from unfairly traded aluminum that is subsidized by foreign governments.

"Primary aluminum is critically important to U.S. national security and to the safety of our warfighters," said General David H. Petraeus. "As we are seeing with conflicts around the world, including the war in Iran, foreign sources of primary aluminum become unavailable during times of crisis. America cannot afford to be dependent on China, Russia, and the Middle East for foundational metals that are essential to our military."

"General Petraeus is an American hero and one of the world's foremost experts on military readiness and national security," said Century Aluminum CEO Jesse Gary. "His insights into the importance of homegrown primary and military-grade aluminum, particularly during times of conflict, are a call to action to ensure the United States is prepared to defend our homeland and interests around the world. We are grateful for President Trump's strong leadership through his 50% Section 232 national security tariff program with no exemptions or exceptions for primary aluminum to support long-term investment in American aluminum production, uphold our military readiness, and create new American aluminum jobs. These policies have led to historic investment and are what has given us the necessary stability and momentum as we work to rebuild U.S. primary aluminum production in South Carolina, Kentucky and Oklahoma."

"In less than a generation, unfair trade and foreign state subsidies have displaced the United States from leading the world's aluminum industry to making just 1% of all global aluminum," said economist Dr. Adam Hersh. "The loss of aluminum smelting capacity represents a massive market failure that exposes the U.S. economy and society at large to the risk of aluminum supply chain disruptions. of global production. So long as other countries keep adding to the aluminum supply glut, most recently with Chinese offshore investments in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Angola, a strong Section 232 tariff program and other incentives will remain essential to rebuilding the American aluminum industry."

"General Petraeus' analysis underscores the critical importance of primary aluminum to U.S. national and economic security," said David Kaplan, an owner of Magnitude 7 Metals. "The 50% Section 232 aluminum tariff without exceptions or exemptions will allow us to create hundreds of new good-paying aluminum jobs in Missouri's Bootheel and launch a new Golden Age for American aluminum manufacturing."

Dr. Hersh's full study is available here.

Background

In 2000, 23 primary aluminum smelters were operating in the United States, compared with 10 in Canada. Today, only four remain in the United States, and none has the capability to produce military-grade aluminum. Following Canada's exemption from U.S. aluminum tariffs, Canadian aluminum imports surged by 30%, while U.S. primary aluminum production declined by an alarming 30%. The resulting shift in the market contributed to the loss of thousands of American aluminum jobs as imports of Canadian primary aluminum increased.

High-purity aluminum is a critical component in the production of military-grade aluminum and is essential to U.S. military readiness and warfighting capabilities. According to the Modern War Institute at West Point, aluminum is "is a foundational material for aircraft, armored vehicles, naval systems, and munitions components."

Harnessing Lightelligence’s proprietary optoelectronic hybrid computing architecture, it exploits the low latency, low power consumption, and high throughput of light, and continuously pushes the computing power limit of a single card through large-scale optoelectronic integration.

To provide better interconnect capacity

Built on Lightelligence’s self-developed inter-chip optical network technology (oNET) and advanced optics, we provide optical interconnect products and solutions at chip, card, server, and rack scales. Working with ecosystem partners, we co-build next-generation computing infrastructure.

Our photonic computing processor uses light instead of electricity to process data, with photonic linear compute units that dramatically accelerate computation.

Technical Principle

To overcome the single‑chip performance limits of Moore’s Law, oMAC processes data with light rather than electricity, accelerating linear operations. With on‑chip computation at the speed of light, latency falls below one nanosecond, delivering decisive advantages in low latency and high throughput.
