Why Custom Protective Packaging Matters for Manufacturers

Why Custom Protective Packaging Matters for Manufacturers

Packaging has become a performance component of the supply chain, not just a cost line item. For industrial, food, and e‑commerce manufacturers, the right packaging can reduce damage, improve handling, and cut total costs from the plant floor through distribution.

SupplyOne focuses on engineering-led custom protective packaging across corrugated, foam, thermoformed trays, and complementary formats. By matching materials and structures to specific applications, we help manufacturers protect products, streamline operations, and improve total cost of ownership.

Corrugated Packaging Built for Real Conditions

Corrugated packaging still carries most products through the supply chain, but standard boxes often aren’t optimized for the realities of shipping and handling. SupplyOne’s packaging engineers design right-sized, application-specific corrugated packaging and displays, including custom die-cuts, printed boxes, interior structures, and point-of-purchase displays.

These designs are tuned to each customer’s distribution environment, brand requirements, and sustainability targets. The result is packaging that improves protection while reducing material usage, freight costs, and damage-related returns, and that better supports both the unboxing and on-shelf experience.

Interior Protection for Demanding Supply Chains

Industrial and e‑commerce shipments face vibration, shock, temperature changes, moisture, pests, and UV exposure. Interior protection has to be engineered to withstand those conditions. SupplyOne’s custom foam, paper, wood, and other interior packaging formats are designed to stabilize loads and safeguard equipment and components through complex, multi-stop supply chains.

Custom foam-in-place systems and cushioning materials allow manufacturers to dial in the level of impact resistance and thermal performance they need. That level of control helps protect high-value products without resorting to over-packaging or excess materials.

Food Packaging Aligned with Safety and Shelf Life

Food manufacturers and processors have a different set of packaging requirements: food safety, barrier performance, sealing integrity, shelf life, and retail presentation. SupplyOne’s specialists collaborate with customers to design custom trays, containers, films, bags, and pouches around specific barrier and sealing needs for fresh, frozen, processed, and ready-to-eat products.

Through testing and refinement of materials and structures, we help improve sealing integrity and product protection while supporting production efficiency and the desired consumer experience at retail.

Thermoformed Trays for Performance and Sustainability

Thermoformed plastic trays and containers are another area where customization can deliver operational and sustainability benefits. SupplyOne offers stocked and fully custom thermoformed formats that combine specific cavity designs, materials, and branding with high-volume production.

These trays are engineered to reduce package density, support shifts away from non-renewable materials, and limit both packaging and product waste. For manufacturers looking to modernize packaging formats, thermoformed solutions can be a practical way to improve throughput and environmental performance simultaneously.

A Holistic Approach to Packaging Programs

As both manufacturer and distributor, SupplyOne connects custom design with a broad catalog of stock and custom supplies, cold chain solutions, cushioning, labels, and related equipment under one program. Certified specialists conduct on-site assessments to identify opportunities to consolidate vendors, automate or streamline packaging operations, and optimize inventory management.

By treating packaging as part of a broader operational strategy, manufacturers can turn custom protective packaging into a lever for process improvement, cost reduction, and better performance across industrial, food, and e‑commerce environments.

SupplyOne in the the News: How Beverage Label Strategy Shapes Shelf Impact, Production Flexibility, and Long Term Brand Growth

In a crowded beverage aisle, a label has only seconds to make an impression. But effective labels do more than capture attention, they communicate brand identity, withstand the realities of refrigeration and distribution, and give producers the flexibility to introduce new flavors, seasonal releases, and limited-edition products.

In a recent Wine Business feature, SupplyOne explores how beverage producers can align label design, materials, finishing options, and printing technology to create packaging that performs from shelf to shipment. The article also examines how digital label printing can support faster turnarounds, short runs, variable artwork, and more agile product launches.

First Phase 1 data for sofetabart mipitecan, Lilly's investigational FRα-targeting ADC, in platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer to be featured in a rapid oral presentation

Updated first-line data for olomorasib, an investigational therapy targeting KRAS G12C-mutant NSCLC, to be featured in a rapid oral presentation

Updated Phase 3 data for selpercatinib versus cabozantinib or vandetanib in advanced, kinase inhibitor-naïve, RET-mutant MTC to be shared in a proffered paper

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) today announced that new data from across its oncology portfolio will be presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, taking place October 23–27 in Madrid, Spain. Highlights include new Phase 1 data in platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer (PSOC) for sofetabart mipitecan (Sofe-M), Lilly's investigational FRα-targeting antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), in combination with bevacizumab, along with updated findings for olomorasib, Retevmo (selpercatinib), and Verzenio (abemaciclib) in lung, thyroid, and breast cancers, respectively.

Key Presentation Highlights:

Sofetabart mipitecan (Sofe-M; FRα-targeting ADC): A rapid oral presentation on first Phase 1 data for sofetabart mipitecan plus bevacizumab in patients with PSOC. These data support the ongoing Phase 3 clinical trial of Sofe-M in PSOC.

Olomorasib (investigational KRAS G12C inhibitor):

A rapid oral presentation on an updated integrated analysis from the Phase 1/2 LOXO-RAS-20001 trial and the safety lead-in portion of the Phase 3 SUNRAY-01 trial, assessing olomorasib in combination with chemoimmunotherapy (pembrolizumab, pemetrexed, and platinum) as potential first-line treatments for patients with advanced/metastatic KRAS G12C-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). These data support the ongoing Phase 3 clinical trial of olomorasib in first-line KRAS G12C-mutant lung cancer.

Retevmo (selpercatinib; RET kinase inhibitor): A proffered paper presentation on updated results from the Phase 3 LIBRETTO-531 study of selpercatinib versus cabozantinib or vandetanib (C/V) in advanced, kinase inhibitor-naïve, RET-mutant medullary thyroid cancer (MTC). These data have supported global approvals of Retevmo in this treatment setting.

Verzenio (abemaciclib; CDK4/6 inhibitor): A rapid oral presentation on overall survival data from the Phase 3 postMONARCH trial of abemaciclib plus fulvestrant in HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer following progression on a prior CDK4/6 inhibitor and endocrine therapy. These data support the abemaciclib plus imlunestrant results in the EMBER-3 trial and add to the evidence-based practice of switching endocrine therapy and CDK4/6 inhibitor at progression in metastatic breast cancer.

"Lilly's presentations at ESMO reflect both the breadth of our oncology portfolio and the focus behind it: following compelling science wherever it has the potential to change care," said Jacob Van Naarden, executive vice president and president of Lilly Oncology. "We're especially encouraged by the data we're sharing for sofetabart mipitecan in platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer, which build on what we've seen with this medicine in platinum-resistant disease and mark a critical step forward as we advance the ongoing Phase 3 FRAmework-01 study across both settings. Our updated first-line data for olomorasib in KRAS G12C-mutant lung cancer are very promising, with clinical activity and a safety profile consistent with earlier findings, which reinforce the importance of targeted therapy for patients from the outset of their treatment journey. Alongside new data in thyroid and breast cancers, these presentations represent meaningful momentum toward improving care for people with cancer."

About Sofetabart Mipitecan

Sofetabart mipitecan (Sofe-M; LY4170156) is composed of an Fc-silent, folate receptor alpha (FRα) specific humanized monoclonal antibody linked to exatecan, a topoisomerase I inhibitor, via a proprietary cleavable polysarcosine linker (PSARlink). Sofe-M was designed to target FRα across all expression levels with an improved therapeutic index. FRα is a cell-surface glycoprotein encoded by the gene FOLR1 that binds to the essential nutrients folic acid and reduced folates, bringing them into cells to facilitate cell division and growth.1,2 FRα is overexpressed in many solid tumors such as ovarian and endometrial cancers.1,3,4 Sofe-M has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for platinum-resistant ovarian cancer (PROC) and is currently being evaluated in the Phase 3 FRAmework-01 trial. The study is being conducted in partnership with the European Network for Gynaecological Oncological Trial groups (ENGOT – lead groups GINECO/NOGGO e.V.), the GOG Foundation (GOG), and the Asia-Pacific Gynecologic Oncology Trials Group (APGOT).

About Olomorasib

Olomorasib (LY3537982) is an investigational, oral, potent, and highly selective second-generation inhibitor of the KRAS G12C protein. KRAS is the most common oncogene across all tumor types, and KRAS G12C mutations occur in 13% of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and 1–3% of patients with other solid tumors.5 Olomorasib is a highly potent covalent inhibitor with potential for greater than 90% target occupancy, which may allow for safer combinations with less toxicity.6

Olomorasib is currently being studied in KRAS G12C-mutant cancers in combination with pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy for first-line treatment of advanced NSCLC, in combination with immunotherapy for the treatment of resected and unresectable NSCLC, and as monotherapy and in combinations in other advanced solid tumors (NCT06119581, NCT06890598, and NCT04956640).

About Retevmo

Retevmo (selpercatinib, formerly known as LOXO-292) (pronounced reh-TEHV-moh) is a highly selective and potent RET kinase inhibitor with central nervous system (CNS) activity. Retevmo may affect both tumor cells and healthy cells, which can result in side effects. RET-driver alterations are predominantly mutually exclusive from other oncogenic drivers. Retevmo is a U.S. FDA-approved oral prescription medicine, 120 mg or 160 mg dependent on weight (50 kg or ≥50 kg, respectively), taken twice daily until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.7

INDICATIONS FOR RETEVMO (selpercatinib)

RETEVMO is a kinase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of:

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR RETEVMO (selpercatinib)

Hepatotoxicity: Serious hepatic adverse reactions occurred in 4.6% of patients treated with Retevmo. Increased aspartate aminotransferase (AST) occurred in 62% of patients, including Grade 3 or 4 events in 11% and increased alanine aminotransferase (ALT) occurred in 58% of patients, including Grade 3 or 4 events in 13%. Monitor ALT and AST prior to initiating Retevmo, every 2 weeks during the first 3 months, then monthly thereafter and as clinically indicated. Withhold, reduce dose, or permanently discontinue Retevmo based on severity.

Severe, life-threatening, and fatal interstitial lung disease (ILD)/pneumonitis can occur in patients treated with Retevmo. ILD/pneumonitis occurred in 3% of patients who received Retevmo, including 0.3% with Grade 3 or 4 events, and 0.2% with fatal reactions. Monitor for pulmonary symptoms indicative of ILD/pneumonitis. Withhold Retevmo and promptly investigate for ILD in any patient who presents with acute or worsening of respiratory symptoms which may be indicative of ILD (e.g., dyspnea, cough, and fever). Withhold, reduce dose, or permanently discontinue Retevmo based on severity of confirmed ILD.

Hypertension occurred in 43% of patients, including Grade 3 hypertension in 20% and Grade 4 in one (0.1%) patient. Overall, 6.4% had their dose interrupted, 1.5% had their dose reduced, and 0.2% discontinued Retevmo for hypertension. Treatment-emergent hypertension was most commonly managed with anti-hypertension medications. Do not initiate Retevmo in patients with uncontrolled hypertension. Optimize blood pressure prior to initiating Retevmo. Monitor blood pressure after 1 week, at least monthly thereafter, and as clinically indicated. Initiate or adjust anti-hypertensive therapy as appropriate. Withhold, reduce dose, or permanently discontinue Retevmo based on severity.

Retevmo can cause concentration-dependent QT interval prolongation. An increase in QTcF interval to >500 ms was measured in 8% of patients and an increase in the QTcF interval of at least 60 ms over baseline was measured in 22% of patients. Retevmo has not been studied in patients with clinically significant active cardiovascular disease or recent myocardial infarction. Monitor patients who are at significant risk of developing QTc prolongation, including patients with known long QT syndromes, clinically significant bradyarrhythmias, and severe or uncontrolled heart failure. Assess QT interval, electrolytes, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) at baseline and periodically during treatment, adjusting frequency based upon risk factors including diarrhea.

Correct hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, and hypocalcemia prior to initiating Retevmo and during treatment. Monitor the QT interval more frequently when Retevmo is concomitantly administered with strong and moderate CYP3A inhibitors or drugs known to prolong QTc interval. Withhold and dose reduce or permanently discontinue Retevmo based on the severity.

Serious, including fatal, hemorrhagic events can occur with Retevmo. Grade ≥3 hemorrhagic events occurred in 4.3% of patients treated with Retevmo including 4 (0.

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill., Oct. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) today announced that new and updated data from its broad solid tumor portfolio will be presented at the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, taking place October 23-27 in Madrid, Spain. Spanning multiple tumor types, therapeutic modalities and stages of development, the presentations represent AbbVie's most expansive ESMO program to date.

Collectively, the findings across Temab-A (telisotuzumab adizutecan), ABBV-706, ABBV-969, ABBV-1480 (RC148), alveltamig, Elahere® (mirvetuximab soravtansine-gynx) and Emrelis™ (telisotuzumab vedotin-tllv) demonstrate how AbbVie is leveraging its deep expertise in cancer biology to advance differentiated approaches that address the complexity and heterogeneity of solid tumors and help meet the diverse needs of cancer patients worldwide.

"The data we are presenting at ESMO reflects the progress being made through AbbVie's disciplined, biology-driven approach to oncology innovation," said Daejin Abidoye, vice president, therapeutic area head of oncology, solid tumor and hematology, AbbVie. "Across multiple tumor types and stages of development, we are seeing encouraging evidence of longer-term clinical benefit, promising outcomes in biomarker-defined patient populations, and the potential of novel combinations and next-generation platforms. Together, these findings reinforce our strategy of translating scientific insights into differentiated treatment approaches with the potential to meaningfully improve outcomes for patients living with cancer."

Selected findings from AbbVie's investigational solid tumor portfolio include updated clinical, survival and translational biomarker data across multiple antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and bispecific antibody programs, supporting continued development across a range of solid tumors:

- Temab-A

- Updated data continue to demonstrate encouraging clinical activity for Temab-A, an investigational, next-generation, c-Met-directed ADC with a novel topoisomerase 1 inhibitor (Top1i), across multiple solid tumor types.

- In a Phase 1 study of patients with previously treated advanced colorectal cancer (CRC), pooled data from the safety lead-in and dose-optimization cohorts showed that Temab-A (2.4 mg/kg) in combination with bevacizumab demonstrated a 30% overall response rate (ORR) and encouraging overall survival (OS) outcomes after a median follow-up of 18.2 months. Median OS reached 14.7 months with the combination (n=30), compared with 10.2 months for standard of care (n=20), regardless of c-Met protein expression level. No new safety signals were observed.1 This combination is being further evaluated in the ongoing global Phase 3 AndroMETa-CRC-560 study (NCT07525206).

- In an updated analysis from the ongoing Phase 1 study of Temab-A in non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the ORR was 50% with a median OS of 13.8 months in unselected patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) wild-type disease (n=48). Among patients with EGFR-mutant disease (n=41), ORR was observed at 63% with a median OS of 16.2 months. In patients with EGFR wild-type disease, at the c-Met 3+, ≥25% expression threshold, median OS was approximately 19.2 months. As a monotherapy, Temab-A is being further evaluated, compared to the standard of care, in the global Phase 3 AndroMETa-Lung-167 study for previously treated patients with EGFR wild-type, non-squamous NSCLC (NCT07821684).

- In a separate post-hoc pooled exploratory analysis of 19 patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC and baseline brain metastases, Temab-A achieved a 37% intracranial ORR, with a median duration of intracranial response of 19.8 months. No new safety signals were observed.

- AbbVie recently announced that Temab-A received two U.S. FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designations in CRC and NSCLC based, in part, on the data highlighted above. These designations further underscore the potential of Temab-A in addressing patient needs in these disease areas.

- ABBV-706:

- Updated Phase 1 findings reinforce the potential of ABBV-706, a SEZ6-directed ADC with a Top1i payload, in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) small cell lung cancer (SCLC), while new biomarker and translational findings further support SEZ6 as a promising therapeutic target.

- At the selected Phase 3 dose of 1.8 mg/kg (n=41), in a heavily pre-treated population, ABBV-706 achieved a 56% ORR and 12.4-month median OS in 2L+ SCLC patients; in the 2L-only subset (n=17), ORR increased to 82% and a 14.4-month median OS was observed. Safety was comparable to previously reported data.

- ABBV-706 is being further evaluated in an ongoing, randomized, open-label, multicenter Phase 3 trial versus standard of care in patients with R/R SCLC (NCT07365241).

- ABBV-969:

- Biomarker findings from a Phase 1 dose escalation study (NCT06318273) of ABBV-969 demonstrated robust molecular responses in heavily pretreated (median 5 prior lines of therapy) metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients (n=49). By cycle 3, 90% of patients achieved a ≥50% reduction in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and 78% experienced circulating tumor cell conversion from unfavorable to favorable levels (≥5 to 5 cells).

- Among 27 patients with baseline PSMA PET assessments receiving ABBV-969 at doses ≥3 mg/kg, two were PSMA PET-negative per VISION criteria; both achieved a PSA50 response, including one patient with stable disease and one with a confirmed partial response.4

- Together, these data further support the continued clinical development of ABBV-969, AbbVie's dual-targeting ADC approach to address tumor heterogeneity by simultaneously targeting two highly prevalent targets associated with mCRPC, prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) and six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 1 (STEAP1), while delivering a Top1i payload.

- ABBV-1480

- New data continue to support the development potential of ABBV-1480, a PD-1 × VEGF bispecific antibody, in lung cancer and other solid tumors.

- In a Phase 1 study of patients with first-line PD-L1-positive NSCLC, ABBV-1480 monotherapy (n=22) achieved a 61.9% ORR and a median progression-free survival (PFS) of 15.2 months.5 In previously treated NSCLC, ABBV-1480 combined with docetaxel at the 20 mg/kg dose (n=21) delivered a 66.7% ORR and 8.5-month median PFS.5 The most common grade ≥3 treatment-related adverse events for monotherapy were hypertension and proteinuria; for combination therapy, they were decreased neutrophil count, decreased white blood cell count and decreased lymphocyte count.5

- ABBV-1480 continues to advance in clinical development, including the global Phase 3 AMUR-Lung-01 trial (NCT07756645) and a newly initiated combination study with Temab-A in NSCLC (NCT07874282).

FUEL PRICES EMERGE AS THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY'S TOP CONCERN
Image File
Original HTML

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the trucking industry's not-for-profit research organization, released its 22nd annual Top Industry Issues report that identifies the trucking industry's leading issues. This year's list includes Fuel Prices, Lawsuit Abuse Reform, CSA and Insurance Cost/Availability. Two issues that debuted on the 2025 list have remained top 10 concerns again this year: Artificial Intelligence in Trucking and Diesel Emissions Regulations.

"Just as we started to see some positive signs in the freight economy, the cost of diesel topped $6.50 per gallon," said Ben Banks, TCW President. "With operating costs continuing to climb overall, this spike in fuel costs is particularly painful for small- to mid-size fleets. ATRI's annual analysis is so essential for trucking to not only quantify the issues, but more importantly, to understand what we can collectively do as an industry to address each."

After holding on to the number one spot on the list for three years in a row, the Economy dropped down to #6 overall, reflecting some cautious optimism on the part of motor carriers. Given some positive signs in the economy, this year's list saw workforce issues come back into the top 10, with the Driver Shortage at #5 and Driver Retention at #10. Driver Compensation remained a top 10 issue, ranking 9th overall.

More than 48 percent of the survey respondents were motor carrier executives and personnel, truck drivers represented 26 percent, with the remaining 26 percent made up of other freight stakeholders. Among truck driver respondents – both owner-operators and company drivers – Fuel Prices, Truck Parking and Driver Compensation were the top three concerns, while motor carriers ranked Lawsuit Abuse Reform, Fuel Prices and the Driver Shortage as their top three concerns.

Nearly 3,100 trucking industry stakeholders participated in this year's survey. Respondents included motor carriers, truck drivers, industry suppliers, driver trainers and law enforcement, among other groups. This year's report also includes an analysis of the top concerns among law enforcement personnel, whose top-ranked issue was Electronic Logging Device Fraud. Finally, states that generated adequate response rates received state-specific TII analyses.

The complete results of the annual survey were released as part of 2026 American Trucking Associations Management Conference and Exhibition. The full report can be found on ATRI's website here.

ATRI is the trucking industry's 501(c)(3) not-for-profit research organization. It is engaged in critical research relating to freight transportation's essential role in maintaining a safe, secure and efficient transportation system.
