Bild-Infos Download

Genau hier setzt Rankscale an.

STOCKHOLM, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BioArctic AB's (publ) (STO: BIOA B) partner Eisai announced today that Canada's Drug Agency (CDA-AMC) has issued a final recommendation supporting public reimbursement of Leqembi (lecanemab) for eligible patients in Canada with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild dementia due to Alzheimer's disease (early AD).

The final recommendation follows a reconsideration by CDA-AMC and represents an important step toward broadening access to Leqembi in Canada. Next steps include negotiations through the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance, followed by reimbursement decisions by public drug plans across Canada's provinces and territories.

More than 770,000 people in Canada were estimated to be living with dementia in 2025, and that number is projected to increase to 1.7 million by 2050.[1]

About Leqembi® (lecanemab)

Leqembi is the result of a strategic research alliance between BioArctic and Eisai. It is a humanized immunoglobulin gamma 1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody directed against aggregated soluble (protofibril) and insoluble forms of amyloid-beta (Aβ).

Leqembi is approved in 53 countries and is under regulatory review in 6 countries. Following the initial phase with treatment every two weeks for 18 months, intravenous (IV) maintenance dosing with treatment every four weeks is approved in 8 countries, including the United Kingdom, China, the US and Japan, and applications have been filed in 12 countries and regions. In the US, Leqembi Iqlik® is approved for subcutaneous dosing with an autoinjector as a starting dose and maintenance treatment of early Alzheimer's disease. In November 2025, a new drug application for subcutaneous formulation of Leqembi for initiation treatment was submitted in Japan. In December 2025, Leqembi was included in the "Commercial Insurance Innovative Drug List", recently introduced by the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) of China. In January 2026, the Biologics License Application for subcutaneous formulation of Leqembi was accepted in China and in February, the application was designated for priority review.

Since July 2020, Eisai's Phase 3 clinical study (AHEAD 3-45) with lecanemab in individuals with preclinical Alzheimer's disease meaning they are clinically normal and have intermediate or elevated levels of amyloid in their brains, is ongoing. The study was fully recruited in October 2024. AHEAD 3-45 is a four-year study conducted as a public-private partnership between Eisai, Biogen and the Alzheimer's Clinical Trial Consortium that provides the infrastructure for academic clinical trials in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in the US, funded by the National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health. Since January 2022, the Tau NexGen clinical study for Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer's disease (DIAD), that is conducted by Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU), led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, is ongoing and includes lecanemab as the backbone anti-amyloid therapy.

About the collaboration between BioArctic and Eisai

Since 2005, BioArctic has a long-term collaboration with Eisai regarding the development and commercialization of drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The most important agreements are the Development and Commercialization agreement for the lecanemab antibody, which was signed 2007, and the Development and Commercialization agreement for the antibody lecanemab back-up for Alzheimer's disease, which was signed 2015. In 2014, Eisai and Biogen entered into a joint development and commercialization agreement for lecanemab. Eisai is responsible for the clinical development, application for market approval and commercialization of the products for Alzheimer's disease. BioArctic has the right to commercialize lecanemab in the Nordic region and is currently preparing for commercialization in the Nordics together with Eisai. BioArctic has no development costs for lecanemab in Alzheimer's disease and is entitled to payments in connection with sales milestones as well as royalties on global sales.

Over 1,000-year-old Heritage "Odate Magewappa": Live Demonstrations by One of Only 16 Nationally Certified Masters in Japan

The main highlight of the pavilion is live demonstrations of "Odate Magewappa," a nationally designated traditional craft from Odate City, Akita Prefecture. Its roots date back over 1,000 years, supported by 10th-century archaeological finds of early bentwood vessels preserved in volcanic ash. Since being established as an industry approximately 400 years ago, it has been passed down through generations as a high-level artisan skill. Yoshimasa Shibata, one of only 16 nationally certified "Traditional Craftsmen" in Odate Magewappa, will travel to Paris to demonstrate his master craftsmanship up close.

At the pavilion, Shibata will demonstrate "Mage-kakou" (bending process), in which natural cedar wood softened in hot water above 80C is bent instantaneously guided solely by the artisan's fingertip intuition, and "Kaba-toji" (bark stitching), in which seams are bound with wild cherry bark as if sewn. This interactive showcase offers an invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the master craftsmanship that brings out the natural beauty and functionality of materials to create durable products designed to be cherished and maintained over time.

Harmonizing with Contemporary European Lifestyles: Over 40 Sophisticated Japanese Wood Products Gathered in Paris

The venue will showcase over 40 curated items -- including Odate Magewappa, furniture, decor and tableware -- combining advanced Japanese woodworking with modern design. Utilizing wood's natural appeal, such as rich fragrance, thermal regulation, moisture absorption and antibacterial properties, the exhibition offers fresh proposals for contemporary, sustainable European living spaces.

Tackling Climate Change: Japan's Circular Use of Forest Resources

Approximately 70% of Japan's land area is covered by forests, with about 40% of these areas classified as planted forests. While planted forests account for only about 8% of the world's total forest area, Japan boasts one of the highest ratios globally. This achievement is the direct result of Japan's long-standing dedication to the circular use of forest resources through the sustainable cycle of planting new seedlings after logging.

Wood products are remarkably eco-friendly materials; they absorb carbon dioxide during their growth phase, emit low carbon dioxide during manufacturing and continue to store carbon internally throughout their lifespan as finished goods. As such, these sustainable wood products contribute significantly to achieving net-zero emissions and advancing corporate ESG goals.

Nairobi-based appointment strengthens Pepperstone's investment in Africa as mobile trading grows and regulators across the continent raise standards.

MELBOURNE, Australia, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pepperstone, a global online trading provider serving clients in more than 160 countries, has appointed Andrew Turnbull as Head of Africa, strengthening its focus on one of the world's fastest-evolving online trading regions. Based in Nairobi, Turnbull will lead Pepperstone's strategy across the continent as traders increasingly turn to mobile-first platforms and regulators move to strengthen oversight of the sector.

Pepperstone Appoints Andrew Turnbull to Lead Africa Strategy

Turnbull brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, including senior roles at ODL Securities and FXCM Europe, where he led institutional sales and partnerships. His experience spans regulated FX and CFD markets, institutional relationships and business development across international markets.

The appointment also comes as Pepperstone invests in owning more of its technology, giving the business greater control over the trading experience and allowing it to respond more closely to the different needs of clients across individual markets.

"Africa is dozens of distinct regulatory environments and trader profiles," said Marc Boever, Head of EMEA at Pepperstone. "That is why we are putting more resources on the ground and investing in people who understand the region. Andrew's experience across regulated financial services and institutional partnerships, combined with his growing first-hand understanding of markets like Kenya, makes him the right person to lead our growth across the continent."

Kenya, where Pepperstone is licensed under the Capital Markets Authority (CMA)*, was one of the first African countries to introduce a formal regulatory framework for online forex trading. That early move has helped create a more mature market, with regulated, licensed brokers increasingly trusted by traders, while Kenya's experience offers a model for other African regulators looking to bring greater oversight to the sector.

"Kenya's traders were among the first in Africa to get a properly regulated market to trade in, and that head start shows," said Andrew Turnbull, Head of Africa at Pepperstone. "There is a growing appetite for online trading across the continent, but every market is different. I'm looking forward to building on Pepperstone's presence here and working with our teams and partners to better understand and serve the different trading communities across Africa."

Early Investment Sudo AI Valued at Nearly $2B

TAIPEI, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cherubic Ventures today announced the close of its sixth fund (Fund VI) at $68.88 million. The fund size reflects the auspicious meaning of the number eight in East Asian cultures, where it is traditionally associated with prosperity and good fortune. With this close, assets under management across the firm's six funds have surpassed US$500 million.

Investors across all six funds include leading global institutional investors and foundations, as well as publicly listed companies, family offices, successful entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals.

Matt Cheng, Founder & Solo GP of Cherubic Ventures, at the firm’s 10th anniversary celebration in Taipei.

Fund VI maintains the firm's early-stage focus, investing in AI-native companies across infrastructure, developer tools, enterprise software, healthcare, physical AI and robotics. Sudo AI, a robotics startup in the portfolio, has reached a valuation of nearly $2 billion two years after its founding, joining the ranks of unicorns.

"After ten years, I am more certain than ever about why I chose to invest at the earliest stages," said Matt Cheng, Founder & Solo GP of Cherubic Ventures. "Working alongside exceptional founders, finding a path through uncertainty, and ultimately changing an industry is what keeps driving me."

Investing Across AI, From Infrastructure to Industry Applications

As AI reshapes industries, Cherubic Ventures continues to look for founders using the technology to build new products and redefine markets. Since 2024, the firm's AI-native investments have spanned infrastructure, developer tools, enterprise software, healthcare, physical AI and robotics.

In robotics, Sudo AI was co-founded by Hao Su, a leading researcher in embodied AI and 3D vision and co-author of PointNet, and serial entrepreneur Robin Han. Its sudo R1 robotic system is trained through virtual simulation and can reliably handle objects it has never encountered without relying on real-world manipulation data. This addresses a key bottleneck to deploying robotics at scale. Cherubic Ventures was its earliest institutional investor.

Cherubic Ventures is also an early investor in Entire, the developer platform founded by former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke. The company raised US$60 million earlier this year, the largest seed round ever for a developer tools startup.

While Fund VI is still at an early stage, its portfolio companies have already raised more than $500 million in subsequent funding. Other notable investments include AI-powered patent technology platform Patlytics, along with healthcare and drug development companies Max AI, Generation Lab and therapiAI.

20 Jahre „Die Nordreportage“ – NDR feiert die Erfolgsreihe mit Kinotour und Jubiläumsprogramm – Tickets gewinnen

Hamburg (ots)

America Haunts announces the nation's most celebrated haunted attractions open between Sept. 11 and Oct. 2 — giving scare-seekers a reason to hit the road and launch Halloween early

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Why wait until October to have fun getting scared? While Halloween merchandise has been creeping onto store shelves since July, the real kickoff to Halloween comes when America's best haunted attractions open their doors, and serious haunt fans know there's something special about being there for the season opener.

America's most acclaimed haunted attractions open for the 2026 season.

Eighteen America Haunts member attractions open for the 2026 season between September 11 and October 2, giving thrill-seekers a jump on the season and a chance to experience some of the country's most celebrated haunted attractions before Halloween is in full swing.

First Fright is opening night- the anticipation of being among the first through the gates, seeing the new surprises, and experiencing the scares before the season is "poof" already over! For fans who plan their Halloween around haunted attractions, it's a reason to start the season with a road trip, a staycation, or a weekend adventure close to home. Get it on your calendar and be ready for many screams and laughter, as Amber Arnett Bequeaith, spokesperson for America Haunts, advises on the fall ritual.

America Haunts is the nation's premier haunted attraction association, representing some of the country's longest-running, largest, and most technically sophisticated haunted experiences. Collectively, America Haunts members entertain more than one million thrill-seekers annually.

"In October, haunts are busy, but our biggest haunt fans love the thrill of First Fright. It's about being there opening night and getting the bragging rights to be one of the first to conquer your fears going through these acclaimed haunts," said Arnett-Bequeaith. "It is also fun to kick off your fall holiday early and fit them all in. Families are busy, and our members are destinations in their own right, so opening night can be the perfect excuse for a road trip. Find one within driving distance, book a hotel, explore the community, have dinner, get scared, and make a weekend of it. All before the rest of the goblins are out and about!"

For those ready to make First Fright a fall tradition, the options span the country. From coast to coast, these top haunted attractions offer a range of opening dates for the season—making this list road-trip ready for serious scare-seekers.

The SOLION-100 combines GMDSS, Ship Security Alert System and Long-Range Identification and Tracking capabilities in a single Iridium Certus 100 terminal for newbuild and retrofit vessels.

HAMBURG, Germany, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Iridium Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: IRDM), a leading provider of global voice, data, aircraft surveillance, and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) satellite services, and Furuno Electric Co., Ltd. today announced Furuno will offer its new SOLION-100 terminal for Iridium GMDSS. This new Furuno maritime safety terminal is built on Iridium® Certus 100 technology and integrates GMDSS, Ship Security Alert System (SSAS) and Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) capabilities in a single platform.

SOLION-100 Terminal for Iridium GMDSS

Iridium GMDSS entered service in 2020 following recognition by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), becoming the first new provider of satellite GMDSS services since the system was established. It delivers regulated maritime distress and safety communications through Iridium's low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, with global coverage, including the polar regions.

Furuno's addition of Iridium GMDSS to its portfolio gives shipowners and shipyards greater choice in selecting maritime safety equipment for newbuild and retrofit vessels.

"Furuno has been committed to supporting safer navigation at sea for decades, and maritime safety remains at the heart of what we do," said Kiyoshi Furuno, Head of Marine Electronic Products Division and Sales Management Department General Manager, Furuno. "The new SOLION-100 terminal for Iridium GMDSS allows us to strengthen our safety communications portfolio and provide customers with LEO satellite GMDSS technology alongside the Furuno navigation and communications systems they already rely on."

"Furuno has a long history of supporting maritime safety, and its addition of Iridium GMDSS brings together that expertise with the global coverage of the Iridium network," said Wouter Deknopper, vice president and general manager, maritime, Iridium. "Together, we are giving shipowners and shipyards another way to equip vessels with reliable maritime safety communications, including in the polar regions."

Iridium GMDSS is designed to support crews throughout a maritime safety event, from receiving navigational and meteorological warnings through Iridium SafetyCast® to initiating a distress alert and establishing Safety Voice communications with a Rescue Coordination Center. A single-button distress alert transmits the vessel's identification, status and position, while Safety Voice enables crews to communicate directly with rescue authorities to provide additional information about the situation.

The SOLION-100 is expected to be commercially available for retrofit applications in late 2026, with availability for newbuild projects expected to follow in 2027.

Iridium is exhibiting this week at SMM Hamburg. Visit booth Hall B6 Stand 313 to learn more about Iridium PNT, Iridium GMDSS, and other critical maritime safety services.
