Cartwheel Launches Specialized Screens & Social Media Program for Students Struggling With Digital Stress

Innovative mental health program helps students, K-12 schools, and families address the impact of screens and social media on sleep, mental health, relationships, and school.

- The program addresses growing concerns from school districts and parents about the impact of screens and social media on youth

- Care includes targeted assessment, evidence-based clinical care, and skill building for parents and caregivers

- The launch coincides with new state and federal investments in youth mental health and online safety

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cartwheel, the nation's largest school-centered telehealth provider, today unveiled its Screens & Social Media Program, a specialized clinical program that has been under development since last spring. The program addresses how technology affects students' sleep, mental health, relationships, and engagement at school.

Digital stress has concerned schools, families, and clinicians for years, but it has recently become a national policy priority. Across nearly 400 districts, Cartwheel clinicians have seen troubling patterns escalate: students losing sleep to their phones, conflict with parents over screen time, and social media shaping how kids see themselves and each other.

Rather than treating technology use as a problem in isolation, the program helps mental health clinicians understand its role in each student's life and build the skills for healthier boundaries.

Students receive individual and family therapy from licensed therapists and child psychiatrists on Cartwheel's care team, plus specialized assessments and family support tailored to digital-use challenges. All services require parent or guardian consent and can include:

- Targeted screening and assessment related to screen use and digital stress

- Individual and family therapy to build healthier digital habits

- Optional psychiatric evaluation or medication support for students with more acute anxiety

- Optional caregiver groups offering strategies for reducing conflict and building healthier routines at home

"During my years at Boston Public Schools, I saw how phones and social media could disrupt a student's sleep, their friendships, their ability to sit through a class," said Jillian Kelton, Senior Director at Cartwheel. "What's different about this program is that we don't just tell families to cut back — we assess what's actually happening for that student and build a real treatment plan around it. That's the kind of care schools have been asking for."

The launch comes as youth mental health and online safety draw growing national attention, including a multistate settlement with Meta worth up to $17.1 billion, with states weighing how proceeds can fund related work.

Cartwheel has made social media and screen time a core focus for years. In 2025, it convened a national conversation on phone-free schools with The Anxious Generation author Jonathan Haidt, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Indiana Secretary Katie Jenner, and this spring launched the "My Amazing Summer" Challenge to get students spending more time offline.

"Technology is part of all of our lives, and helping kids develop a healthy relationship with it takes more than simply limiting screen time," said Juliana Chen, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Cartwheel. "We want to understand how screens and social media are affecting each student and help students and families make realistic changes now while building healthier habits."

Screens & Social Media joins Cartwheel's growing portfolio of Care Programs, including School Avoidance and Big Behaviors, Big Feelings.

Across Cartwheel's care model, 58% of students with anxiety achieve full remission, moderate-to-severe depression drops threefold, absences fall 62%, and suspensions among students with prior disciplinary history fall 68%.

EZ-UP Aurora Preserves the Cannabis Flower Experience While Automating the Work Around It

BOSTON, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cannabis industry has spent years making consumption easier. Vape cartridges reduced preparation. Pre-rolls added convenience. Electronic devices introduced greater control.

But for people who prefer real combustion experience, convenience can come with a tradeoff. When flower is heavily processed instead of naturally burned, the experience starts to move away from the very qualities people value the most: authentic aroma, flavor, visibility, and ritual.

Spark Perceptions believe there is another path.

Its upcoming product, EZ-UP Aurora, is built around a simple idea:

Preserve the flower combustion. Automating everything else.

EZ-UP Aurora is an automatic combustion device for whole flower and dry herbs. Instead of transforming them into oil or another format, it combines automatic feeding, controlled combustion, and ash collection inside one enclosure.

Users still choose their flower. The device handles the rest. The goal is not to remove the ritual, but the friction around it.

Whole flower is everything

For experienced consumers, the flower matters: how it looks and smells, how it was cured, its freshness, and how its flavor develops into puffs.

That quest is difficult to fulfill once the flower has become something else.

Aurora keeps flower centric while automating the repetitive tasks around it. Technology serves only one purpose, preserving the traditional flower consumption experience.

One load, multiple hits

Traditional flower consumption comes with a familiar rhythm: pack it, light it, enjoy the sesh, clear the ash, then do it all over again.

Aurora approaches that process differently. Prepared flowers are loaded into the device and automatically fed into a dedicated combustion area in calculated portions. One load can support multiple hits without placing the entire amount in the active zone at once.

With only a smaller portion exposed to heat, users have greater control over when material is consumed. Between hits, the system limits unnecessary burning rather than leaving a larger bowl smoldering. That can mean less waste and better material efficiency.

Ash and residuals are then collected separately, making room for the next feed. Feeding, combustion, and ash collection work together as a single process.

Automation without losing the ritual

"Automation" can suggest removing the human element. That is not the idea here.

Taking Modern espresso machines as another example, it automates dosing, temperature, pressure, timing, and cleaning, yet serious coffee drinkers still care deeply about the beans, their freshness, aroma, and flavor.

The technology does not replace the material. It manages the process around it.

Spark Perceptions sees whole flower consumption similarly. Consumers still choose, see, smell, and prepare it. What they may no longer need to do is repeatedly feed a chamber, manage combustion by hand, clear ash, and start over.

The ritual stays. The repetitive work becomes one click.

A different direction for cannabis hardware

"Many innovations have focused on how flower is heated. We ask a broader question: What if the device managed the entire process around it?" said Dr. Roger Gong, CEO of Spark Perceptions.

That means considering where the material is stored, how much enters the combustion area, when it is heated, what happens between hits, and where the ash goes. It points toward a device that manages the whole process autonomously and vertically integrates a heavily manual process into one connected system.

Spark Perceptions plans to begin mass production of EZ-UP Aurora in October 2026, bringing the concept into commercial production.

For consumers interested in where whole-flower technology revolves next, this will be the one to watch.

Let's make the flower centric technology thrive and enjoy the sesh hands free.

Unbekannte Motive sichtbar machen

- Indonesien

- Vietnam

- Thailand

- Südafrika

- Kolumbien

- Malaysia

- Mexiko

- VAE (Vereinigte Arabische Emirate)

- Peru

- Bulgarien

Thailand liegt an dritter Stelle.

MORE THAN 100 ARTISTS FROM ACROSS THE CARIBBEAN TO GATHER IN THE BAHAMAS FOR THE FOURTH EDITION OF FUZE CARIBBEAN ART FAIR
Image File
Original HTML

The official arts component of The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival returns October 21–25, 2026, bringing together more than 20 galleries, museums and cultural institutions from over 10 Caribbean nations, the wider Americas, Africa and The United Kingdom for a celebration of contemporary art, dialogue and cultural exchange.

NASSAU, The Bahamas, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- This October, the Caribbean's contemporary art community will gather in Nassau, The Bahamas, as FUZE Caribbean Art Fair opens its fourth edition under the theme Coming Home. More than 100 artists and over 20 galleries, museums and cultural institutions representing more than 10 Caribbean nations and the wider Americas, Africa and The United Kingdom will participate in a five-day programme of exhibitions, installations, conversations and cultural exchange.

Since launching in 2023 organized by The Current: Baha Mar Gallery & Art Center, FUZE Caribbean Art Fair has been the official arts component of The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival, bringing together artists, galleries, collectors, curators and audiences through exhibitions, conversations and shared experiences. The fair continues to position The Bahamas as a destination for contemporary art while fostering connections between Caribbean creative communities and the global art world.

The fourth edition explores the theme Coming Home, an invitation to reflect on belonging, identity and connection in an increasingly fragmented world. The theme considers home not only as a physical place, but as an emotional and cultural space shaped by memory, community and shared experience. Through this lens, FUZE reimagines the art fair as a gathering place rooted in collaboration, accessibility and opportunity, where the value of art extends beyond the marketplace and is realized through the relationships and communities it inspires.

"Coming Home speaks to our collective desire to reconnect—with our histories, our communities and one another," says John Cox, VP of Arts & Culture at The Baha Mar Resort. "This year's fair is an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary creativity of the Caribbean while creating meaningful pathways for artists, collectors, institutions and audiences to engage with one another. FUZE is not only about presenting art; it is about building a stronger cultural ecosystem for the region and beyond."

The 2026 edition will feature a diverse range of artistic practices, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation and multidisciplinary works. Participating galleries, museums, institutions and independent artists will present perspectives that reflect the complexity, innovation and evolving narratives of contemporary Caribbean art. Featured artists include Lavar Munroe, whose presentation alongside the late John Beadle titled In Another Man's Yard, curated by Dr. Krista Thompson at the 61st Venice Biennale marked the first time in thirteen years that The Bahamas was represented there—a milestone made especially significant by Baha Mar's role as a major sponsor. The fair will also feature the work of internationally recognized artists, including New Jersey based, St. Martin artist Deborah Jack, Bahamian artist April Bey, represented by Vielmetter LA and TERN Gallery; distinguished artist Antonius Roberts OBE; Jamaican artist Charles Campbell; and Desmond Beach, represented by Richard Beavers Gallery in New York and recipient of the FUZE x SCOPE Residency Prize. Together, these artists exemplify the depth, diversity, and global resonance of contemporary Caribbean art.

Participating galleries and institutions will include TERN Gallery, The Current Baha Mar: Gallery & Art Center, and Galerie Myrtis, alongside other regional and international exhibitors whose presence underscores FUZE's growing reach and relevance within the broader art world.

Beyond the exhibition floor, FUZE 2026 will offer a robust programme of public engagement designed to keep the week full of activity and conversation. Visitors can expect creative panel discussions, workshops, Pulse Talks—academic presentations—and other programming that bring together artists, scholars, collectors, students and the public in meaningful dialogue. One of the fair's most anticipated highlights will once again be the figure drawing class with John Cox, a fan favorite that has become a signature experience for attendees.

Education and accessibility remain central to FUZE's mission. Through the support of the Baha Mar Foundation and title sponsor Scotiabank, hundreds of school students from across the country's capital, New Providence, will participate in educational tours of the fair during the week. Scope Art Show's partnership strengthens FUZE's international reach, connecting Caribbean artists and galleries with global collectors, curators, and cultural institutions. Through The Blue Floor Project, a FUZE initiative presented during Miami Art Week at SCOPE Art Show, the fair showcases a curated selection of Caribbean contemporary art to introduce new audiences to the region's artists and expand awareness of FUZE's mission.

As the arts component of The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival, FUZE forms part of a wider celebration of creativity that brings together visual art, culinary experiences, music and culture. The collaboration highlights the interconnected nature of Caribbean creativity and

reinforces The Bahamas' position as a leading destination for cultural exchange and artistic discovery.

General Admission tickets are $35 + VAT. The Culture Guru Pass is $80 + VAT and includes unlimited admission to FUZE for all five days of the fair. Weekend passes and festival packages are also available. Tickets and additional information can be found at festival.bahamar.com.

Harmonic Unveils cOS SensAI Intelligence Fabric for Broadband Operations

New Vendor-Agnostic Broadband Intelligence Fabric Reduces Operational Complexity and Improves Service Quality for Broadband Service Providers

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) today unveiled cOS SensAI™, a vendor-agnostic software-driven intelligence fabric that unifies heterogeneous data from any source across a broadband operator's network into a single, coherent information layer. SensAI transforms complex operational data into clear, actionable insights, empowering broadband service providers to proactively manage operations, improve subscriber experiences, raise Net Promoter Scores and build long-term customer loyalty.

"The next chapter of broadband service success will be defined by operational intelligence that continuously elevates the subscriber experience while reducing operational cost. Instead of reactively swiveling between dashboards, operators can now leverage their data to gain actionable insights and anticipate what's next," said Nimrod Ben-Natan, President and CEO of Harmonic. "Born out of collaboration with leading broadband service providers, cOS SensAI marks a new era of proactive, intelligence-driven operations that gives operators of any size the intelligence they need to run smarter, respond faster and deliver better customer experiences."

cOS SensAI in the Real World

Leading broadband operators are already experiencing the value of SensAI in live environments.

"Correlating an operational insight usually means pulling data from a dozen different systems spread across our network, tools, applications as well as the customers' in-home devices, which can be a tedious, time-consuming process," said Pragash Pillai, Chief Technology Officer at Hotwire Communications. "We are encouraged by the results we are seeing from Harmonic's SensAI. The intelligence fabric ingests the data and gives us clear, traceable reasoning behind every diagnosis. That transparency has been instrumental in letting our NOC and engineering teams resolve issues at lightning speed. Best of all, we're able to integrate with existing systems to provide a comprehensive view."

"At GCI, we connect communities across Alaska, serving some of the most remote and challenging geographies in the country. This means every truck roll and every hour spent resolving an issue has a lasting effect on our business," said Troy Goldie, Chief Technology Officer at GCI. "SensAI is designed to guide technicians to not just where the problem is, but how to resolve it, helping us reduce time to task. Equally important, we expect SensAI to help lower our repeat ticket percentage, which is a systematic validation of the overall health of our network. Partnering with Harmonic, we're confident we can operate with greater efficiency while delivering a differentiated experience to the customers we serve."

Unlocking Value for Broadband Operators

Analyst firm Analysys Mason estimates the total addressable market for SensAI at approximately $2.2 billion per year1 in target markets among tier 2 and smaller broadband service providers.

"To realize the full value of AI for improving network reliability and subscriber experience, broadband providers need the right foundational platform," said Joseph Attwood, Senior Analyst at Analysys Mason. "As a cohesive intelligence fabric, SensAI enables broadband providers to ingest data from diverse sources, replace fragmented tools and achieve the end-to-end visibility needed to correlate data signals from across different devices and systems."

Intelligence at the Core

At the core of SensAI is a continuously updated real-time model of the service provider's operational ecosystem consisting of network devices and system relationships within it. This model is enriched with a tremendous amount of data gathered from thousands of sources. SensAI correlates the data and signals across systems, explains the reasoning behind every diagnosis and progressively automates the workflows that operators repeat most.

With SensAI, broadband service providers can:

- Transform Operations: Simplify triage and close skill gaps so teams spend less time firefighting and more time improving the network.

- Enhance Subscriber Loyalty: Act on clear, explainable predictions to raise quality of experience, often before subscribers notice a problem.

- Reduce Costs: Turn per-subscriber insights into fewer truck rolls and less wasted effort, driving tangible savings.

More information about SensAI is available at www.harmonicinc.com/cos-sensai. Harmonic will showcase the transformative SensAI intelligence fabric at Connected Britain, Sept. 9-10 in booth J25 and at SCTE TechExpo in Atlanta, Sept. 29-Oct.1 in booth A153.
