Tenth SBIR award brings Partillion's total non-dilutive federal funding to more than $8 million and supports development of Cell-Cell-seq workflows

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Partillion Bioscience announced a two-year, $2.1 million NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) to expand the company's Cell-Cell-seq workflows. Partillion's 10th SBIR grant brings the company's total non-dilutive federal funding to more than $8 million, roughly matching private investment to date, with no additional equity exchanged.

Closing a Critical Gap in Single-Cell Analysis

Most single-cell sequencing workflows profile cells in isolation, limiting researchers' ability to study how cellular interactions shape disease and therapeutic response. Competitively awarded through NIH's Direct-to-Phase II mechanism, the grant will advance Cell-Cell-seq, a workflow built on Partillion's proprietary Nanovial technology (protected by 17 issued patents) that preserves defined cell pairs, captures functional outputs such as secretion, activation, and killing, and links them to sequencing data. The award will let Partillion scale Cell-Cell-seq toward datasets of up to one million cell pairs, work that includes broadening compatibility with additional sequencing platforms and developing new analysis tools.

"This award is meaningful because it reflects the scientific merit of Cell-Cell-seq and gives us the resources to move the platform forward," said Joseph de Rutte, PhD, Co-Founder and CEO of Partillion Bioscience. "It allows us to pursue ambitious scientific work while keeping our private capital focused on customer adoption and commercial expansion."

Existing Momentum, Emerging Opportunities

Partillion launched a distribution partnership with Sony Biotechnology in 2024. Its Nanovial platform also played a key role in a research collaboration with UCLA, USC, and Caltech, supported by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The award adds to that momentum, putting Cell-Cell-seq into more hands across research and industry.

"Expanding the Nanovial platform's compatibility with leading single-cell sequencing platforms, developing turnkey analysis software, and generating large-scale, interaction-resolved datasets create new opportunities for Partillion's commercial growth," said Eric Moessinger, Partner (Advisory) & Head of Life Sciences at NanoDimension, Inc.

About Partillion Bioscience

Partillion Bioscience is pioneering a functional cell analysis platform built on its award-winning Nanovial technology. The company enables pharmaceutical and biotech partners to accelerate therapeutic development by screening millions of live cells in parallel and capturing critical functional outputs such as secretion, signaling, and viability.

Partillion's technology has been featured in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Nature Protocols, PNAS, Science Advances, and ACS Nano, and recognized with the 2020 SLAS Innovation Award, 2022 SLAS New Product Award, and 2025 CYTO Innovation & Technology Showcase Award.

Brennan Breaks Ground on 210,000 Square-Foot Distribution Building Near Downtown Nashville
Original HTML

Class A, multi-tenant, infill property strengthens Brennan's presence in one of the nation's fastest-growing markets

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Brennan Investment Group ("Brennan"), a leading private real estate investment firm specializing in the acquisition, development and operation of industrial facilities across the United States, has commenced construction on a 210,000 square-foot, Class A, speculative industrial facility situated on 17 acres in Whites Creek, Tennessee. The building is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.

The property is located just eight miles north of downtown Nashville and less than a half-mile from the Interstate 24 interchange at Old Hickory Boulevard, providing convenient access to Nashville's three major interstates.

"The property's immediate access to Interstate 24 and proximity to downtown Nashville will attract both last-mile and regional distribution users," said Andrew Mazey, Brennan's Senior Vice President for the Nashville and Atlanta regions. "The property is also a short 30-minute drive from Clarksville, Tennessee, one of the fastest-growing manufacturing markets in the United States. Its location between Nashville and Clarksville provides future occupiers access to two of the region's deepest and fastest-growing labor pools."

Brennan designed the rear-load industrial building to accommodate up to five tenants and appeal to a wide range of occupiers. The building's 260-foot depth allows for efficient tenant-demising options ranging from 27,000 to 210,000 square feet. The project features modern Class A specifications, including ample trailer and employee parking, 32-foot clear height, an ESFR sprinkler system, and concrete tilt-wall construction.

"Nashville is a key Sunbelt logistics hub, supported by rapid population growth, rental rate growth and one of the lowest industrial vacancy rates in the U.S.," said Kevin Brennan, Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Brennan Investment Group. "There are no Class A industrial options currently available to tenants in our size range within seven miles of this project. Because of Nashville's uniquely high barriers to entry, this site is one of the last remaining industrial development sites in Davidson County."

"We are excited to add this development to our Nashville portfolio, marking Brennan's ninth investment in Nashville since 2021 and bringing our local portfolio to 1.5 million square feet," said Michael Brennan, Chairman and Managing Principal of Brennan Investment Group. "This development fits Brennan's strategy of developing functional, multi-tenant assets in high-growth, land-constrained submarkets throughout the United States. Given Nashville's strong demographics and high barriers to entry, Brennan intends to allocate additional capital to the region."

About Brennan Investment Group

Brennan Investment Group, a Chicago-based private real estate investment firm, acquires, develops, and operates industrial properties in select major metropolitan markets throughout the United States. Eddid Securities USA Partners with tZERO for Digital Asset Securities Trading and Custody

Eddid Securities USA Inc., a FINRA-registered introducing broker-dealer, can now introduce customer accounts to tZERO for correspondent clearing and custody, with access to tZERO Securities ATS for eligible digital asset securities

NEW YORK and HONG KONG, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Eddid Securities USA Inc. ("Eddid USA"), a FINRA-registered introducing broker-dealer and the U.S. subsidiary of Hong Kong-based fintech group Eddid Financial, today announced a strategic engagement with tZERO Group, Inc. ("tZERO"), a leader in blockchain-powered financial market infrastructure, to bring eligible digital asset securities within reach of Eddid USA's clients through a familiar, regulated brokerage experience.

Under the engagement, Eddid USA has entered into agreements with tZERO's regulated broker-dealer subsidiaries spanning trading, clearing, and custody – with the correspondent clearing arrangements approved by FINRA under FINRA Rule 4311. As a subscriber to the tZERO Securities ATS, the alternative trading system operated by tZERO Securities, LLC, Eddid USA can facilitate trading in eligible securities – including digital asset securities – on behalf of its customers. Through a fully disclosed correspondent clearing relationship, tZERO Securities, LLC will carry and clear introduced customer accounts, while custody of digital asset securities will be provided by tZERO Digital Asset Securities, LLC, an SEC-registered broker-dealer, which operates in accordance with the SEC's framework for broker-dealer custody of digital asset securities.

The engagement positions Eddid USA at the intersection of two of its core strengths: capital markets execution for growth-stage issuers and a compliance-first operating culture. For investors, it broadens the universe of eligible opportunities available through a trusted brokerage relationship; for issuers, it connects them to regulated market infrastructure purpose-built for tokenized securities.

"Eddid was built to connect global investors with opportunity, and digital asset securities are a natural extension of that mission," said Jerry Tse, Chief Executive Officer of Eddid Financial. "Working with tZERO gives us institutional-grade trading, clearing, and custody infrastructure from day one, so our clients can participate in this market through the firm they already know – with the safeguards and standards they expect from a regulated broker-dealer."

For Eddid USA clients, the experience is designed to be straightforward: clients can learn about eligible opportunities, evaluate them with an Eddid USA representative, and, where appropriate and suitable, participate without needing to manage private keys or wallet infrastructure themselves – custody of digital asset securities is maintained by tZERO Digital Asset Securities, LLC through accounts established for that purpose. All offerings remain subject to applicable eligibility, suitability, and regulatory requirements.

The engagement also extends the broader Eddid Financial group's commitment to next-generation financial infrastructure, complementing the group's digital asset and Web3 initiatives.

"Financial institutions increasingly want to offer their clients access to next-generation financial products without having to assemble and operate a complex network of technology and infrastructure providers," said Alan Konevsky, Chief Executive Officer of tZERO. "Our relationship with Eddid USA demonstrates the power of tZERO's Infrastructure-as-a-Service model: institutions can maintain their own brand and client relationships while leveraging tZERO's technology, regulated infrastructure and operational capabilities behind the scenes."

Eddid USA believes the future of capital markets will combine trusted client relationships, established distribution, and regulated blockchain infrastructure within a single experience. This engagement gives the firm a complete, regulated foundation – trading venue access, correspondent clearing, and qualified digital asset securities custody – without a multi-year infrastructure buildout, while maintaining the regulatory standards at the core of its business.

Kazia Therapeutics Announces First Patient Dosed in PNOC035 Clinical Study Evaluating Paxalisib for Recurrent Pediatric AT/RT Brain Cancer

Multicenter study to evaluate paxalisib plus gemcitabine for children and young adults with recurrent or progressive AT/RT, where no approved therapies currently exist

SYDNEY, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kazia Therapeutics Limited (NASDAQ: KZIA) ("Kazia" or the "Company"), an oncology-focused biotechnology company developing therapies that selectively reprogram cancer biology, restore anti-tumor immunity and overcome treatment resistance, today announced that the first patient has been dosed in Arm A of PNOC035, a Phase 2 platform study evaluating paxalisib in combination with gemcitabine for patients ages 1 to 39 with recurrent or progressive atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT). AT/RT is widely recognized as one of the most aggressive forms of pediatric brain cancer.

PNOC035 is conducted by the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC), an open-label, multi-center platform study. In Arm A, patients receive oral, once-daily paxalisib in combination with intravenous gemcitabine on Days 1, 8 and 15 of each 28-day treatment cycle.

The combination increased median survival nearly four-fold (22 to 82.5 days; p0.0001) in an orthotopic AT/RT preclinical model and demonstrated complementary anti-tumor activity across multiple AT/RT cell lines. These preclinical findings provided the rationale for advancement into the multicenter PNOC035 clinical study evaluating paxalisib plus gemcitabine in children and young adults with recurrent or progressive AT/RT. These findings, previously presented at ISPNO, AACR and Neuro-Oncology meetings, provided the scientific rationale for PNOC035 and extend paxalisib's pediatric neuro-oncology development beyond diffuse midline glioma into another area of significant unmet need.

Paxalisib has been granted both Orphan Drug Designation and Rare Pediatric Disease Designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for AT/RT. These designations do not constitute FDA approval or endorsement of any therapeutic claim. If paxalisib were to receive marketing approval for this indication, which would require successful completion of clinical development and FDA regulatory approval, Kazia could become eligible to receive a pediatric priority review voucher from the FDA.

"AT/RT typically affects infants and very young children, and families facing this devastating diagnosis have limited treatment options," said Dr. John Friend II, Chief Executive Officer of Kazia Therapeutics. "Despite decades of research, there are still no approved therapies for recurrent or progressive AT/RT, underscoring the urgent need for new treatment options. We've remained committed to pediatric brain cancer because this is an area where the need is especially great and the options are often fewest. Reaching this milestone with the PNOC035 team is a meaningful step forward, and we look forward to working closely with PNOC as enrollment progresses."

About PNOC035

PNOC035 is a Phase 2 platform trial conducted by the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC) for patients ages 1 to 39 with recurrent or progressive AT/RT. The platform design allows multiple treatment arms to be evaluated within a shared trial infrastructure, with patients enrolling in an arm based on availability and arm-specific eligibility criteria. Arm A evaluates paxalisib in combination with gemcitabine. Additional information about the study is available on ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT07447076).

About Kazia Therapeutics

Kazia Therapeutics Limited (NASDAQ: KZIA) is an oncology-focused drug development company, based in Sydney, Australia. The Company's lead asset, paxalisib, is an investigational brain penetrant inhibitor of the PI3K/Akt /mTOR pathway, which is being developed to treat multiple forms of cancer. Licensed from Genentech in late 2016, paxalisib is or has been the subject of over 15 clinical trials. A completed Phase 2/3 study in glioblastoma (GBM AGILE) was reported in 2024, and discussions are ongoing for designing and executing a pivotal registrational study in pursuit of a standard approval. Other clinical trials involving paxalisib are ongoing in advanced breast cancer, brain metastases, diffuse midline gliomas, and primary central nervous system lymphoma, with several of these trials having reported encouraging interim data. Paxalisib was granted Orphan Drug Designation for glioblastoma by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in February 2018, and Fast Track Designation (FTD) for glioblastoma in August 2020. Paxalisib was also granted FTD in July 2023 for the treatment of solid tumor brain metastases harboring PI3K pathway mutations in combination with radiation therapy. Additionally, paxalisib was granted Rare Pediatric Disease Designation and Orphan Drug Designation by the FDA for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma in August 2020 and for atypical teratoid / rhabdoid tumors in June 2022 and July 2022, respectively. Kazia is also developing EVT801, a small molecule inhibitor of VEGFR3, which was licensed from Evotec SE in April 2021. Galmed Pharmaceuticals Becomes EoCene, Unveiling New Ticker Symbol "EOCN" to Reflect its New Dawn Platform for GI Innovation
Image File
Original HTML

- Standby Equity Purchase Agreement (SEPA) with YA II PN, LTD. (Yorkville) will be terminated effective immediately

- The Company has regained compliance with the minimum bid price requirement set forth in Nasdaq Listing Rule 5550(a)(2) and will continue to be listed and traded on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the new ticker symbol

RAMAT-GAN, Israel, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: GLMD) ("Galmed" or the "Company"), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on liver, cardiometabolic and oncology diseases, today announced a corporate rebranding to Eocene Ltd. ("EoCene"), a change in the trading symbol of the Company on the Nasdaq Capital Market to "EOCN" and a new website www.EOCN.com. The name change and trading symbol change are expected to become effective on the Nasdaq Capital Market on September 10, 2026.

Derived from the ancient Greek, "Eo-Cene" means "dawn" and "new". The new name and brand are designed to reflect the Galmed's ongoing evolution into an innovative, commercial stage biopharmaceutical and medical device company focused on developing and commercializing breakthrough therapies and technologies that address significant unmet medical needs in gastrointestinal (GI) diseases and GI cancers.

The Eocene name is intended to reflect the Company's vision of building a diversified platform focused on advancing innovation across gastrointestinal disease management, surgical technologies and related therapeutic opportunities. The Company believes the rebranding better aligns its corporate identity with its current strategic direction following the acquisition of Colospan Ltd. ("Colospan") and the expansion of its focus beyond its historical biopharmaceutical programs.

At the core of this rebranding is the integration and continued development of Colospan, the Company's wholly owned subsidiary and a commercial-stage medical device company that has developed a clinically differentiated solution designed to address anastomotic leak complications and the diverting stomas used to manage them following colorectal surgery.

Following the acquisition of Colospan, the Company intends to accelerate its strategy to create a diversified, GI-focused medtech and biopharmaceutical platform, combining its GI clinical expertise with Colospan's proprietary device technology and active U.S. pivotal clinical program.

Through the acquisition of Colospan, the Company has expanded its strategic focus to include a medical device platform alongside its biopharmaceutical activities. The Company believes this combination expands its opportunities across the gastrointestinal market, supported by expertise spanning clinical development, medical devices and potential future commercialization opportunities.

Galmed is also announcing that it has terminated its SEPA with Yorkville, effective September 8, 2026. The SEPA provided the Company with an equity line of up to $20 million, and as of the date of termination, Galmed raised approximately $7.3 million from the SEPA through the issuance of 437,947 ordinary shares.

Allen Baharaff, President and CEO of Eocene, commented:

"The introduction of the Eocene name marks an important new chapter for our company. As we continue to advance our business, we are bringing together scientific, clinical and technological capabilities that we believe position us to address meaningful opportunities across gastrointestinal health and related fields. We believe the Eocene identity better captures who we are today and the future we are working to build as we seek to develop innovative solutions that can improve patient outcomes."

Mr. Baharaff continues: "Galmed was historically a pre-revenue biotech, but we believe that our June acquisition of Colospan changes that narrative. As of June 30, 2026, Galmed had $11.4M of cash and cash equivalents, short term deposits and marketable debt securities, which we believe provides a solid foundation as we execute our strategic transition from a clinical-stage biotech into a GI-focused biotech/medical-device platform with an asset that provides a potential path toward commercial revenue. Because CG-100 is already commercial-ready in Europe and Israel, we believe Colospan may have the potential to generate revenue on a shorter timeline than a traditional drug-development program, and further believe that our current capital resources may enable us to execute on this strategy."

EoCene is building a diversified portfolio of innovative gastrointestinal assets spanning therapeutics, medical devices and enabling technologies. Our strategy combines internal innovation with strategic acquisitions, licensing and partnerships to create long-term value for patients, physicians and shareholders.

The Company notes that the name and ticker symbol changes do not affect shareholders' ownership interests in the Company. As previously announced, following the notice from the Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Staff on September 3, 2026 that the Company had regained compliance with the minimum bid price requirement set forth in Nasdaq Listing Rule 5550(a)(2), the Company's ordinary shares will continue to be listed and traded on the Nasdaq Capital Market without interruption under the new ticker symbol, and existing shareholders are not required to take any action in connection with the name or ticker symbol change.

About EoCene (formerly Galmed Pharmaceuticals)

EoCene Ltd. (NASDAQ: EOCN) is a GI-focused medtech and biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Ramat Gan, Israel, dedicated to advancing innovative solutions across gastrointestinal disease management, GI oncology and related therapeutic areas. The Company is building a diversified platform that combines medical devices, therapeutics and enabling technologies to address significant unmet clinical needs and improve patient outcomes. EoCene's wholly owned subsidiary, Colospan Ltd., is a commercial-stage medical device company developing solutions designed to transform postoperative colorectal care. Its flagship product, CG-100, is an intraluminal bypass device intended to protect colorectal anastomoses and reduce the need for diverting stomas, offering a less invasive alternative to current surgical practice. CG-100 has received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, is CE marked under the European Union Medical Device Regulation and is approved for investigational use in the United States under an FDA-approved IDE. The device is not approved for commercial use in the United States.
