Scott & Jon's Launches Tuna Noodle Casserole, Beats Rival in Taste Test

Auburn, Maine – October 01, 2026 -- Scott & Jon's is adding a new frozen meal to grocery freezers this fall: Homestyle Tuna Noodle Casserole, the brand's first tuna product, packing 21 grams of protein and cooking in just four minutes.

The recipe blends classic comfort with modern nutrition

The dish combines al dente egg noodles, peas, chunk light tuna and a creamy sauce made with real milk, cream and cheddar cheese, finished with seasoned breadcrumbs. Each serving delivers 21g of protein, 3g of fiber and comes in under 500 calories.

Blind taste test showed consumers preferred it 2-to-1 over a leading brand

In a central location test of 103 consumers conducted in December 2025, Scott & Jon's version outperformed a leading competitor across every flavor measure tested, including overall flavor, tuna flavor, pasta flavor, sauce flavor and vegetable flavor. The differences were statistically significant at a 95% confidence level, with tuna flavor, seasoning, and pasta texture cited as key drivers.

"Tuna noodle casserole is one of those meals that immediately feels familiar," said Jon Demers, co-founder and co-CEO of Scott & Jon's. "Seeing consumers prefer our recipe two-to-one over the leading brand gave us tremendous confidence that we had created something special."

Comfort food is trending as shoppers seek nostalgia and value

The National Restaurant Association named comfort foods the No. 2 overall trend in its 2026 What's Hot Culinary Forecast, noting that familiar classics provide consumers with both nostalgia and emotional connection.

The launch expands Scott & Jon's lineup beyond shrimp, salmon and white fish

Homestyle Tuna Noodle Casserole is now available at select retailers including Giant Eagle, Weis, Schnucks, Big Y, Market Basket and Nugget, with distribution expected to expand through the product locator on the company's website.
