Marina del Rey Preps for 2027 with Hotel Overhauls, New Shops and Dining

Marina del Rey – September 30, 2026 -- Two of Marina del Rey's waterfront hotels are undergoing major renovations ahead of Super Bowl LXI in February 2027, part of a broader push to draw travelers to the coastal destination four miles from LAX.

The Ritz-Carlton is renovating all 304 rooms before Super Bowl LXI

The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey is completing a floor-by-floor renovation of its 304 rooms and suites, with the work timed to finish before Super Bowl LXI, which SoFi Stadium hosts in February 2027. Designed with Hirsch Bedner Associates, the redesigned rooms combine contemporary style with a coastal look inspired by the marina. After the Super Bowl, renovations continue in the lobby, corridors, public restrooms and the hotel's Cast & Plow restaurant.

Marina del Rey Hotel will unveil 164 refreshed rooms in 2027

Marina del Rey Hotel plans to debut 164 updated guest rooms and suites in 2027, featuring new furnishings and finishes in a contemporary coastal style. Janet Zaldua, CEO of the Marina del Rey Tourism Board, said the developments give visitors reasons to stay overnight while Los Angeles hosts major global sporting events.

Waterside shopping center adds Anthropologie and New Balance

The 10-acre Waterside outdoor shopping center recently added Anthropologie and New Balance to its retail lineup. Wake & Late, Lululemon, Brooks Running, and Brandy Melville with its Chill Since '93 cafe are slated to open there next. Nordstrom Rack is set to join the retail mix in spring 2027.

A Bakersfield restaurant is opening its third location in the marina

Luna Bistro & Cafe, which originated in Bakersfield and serves modern Latin and global fusion cuisine, plans to open its third location in Marina del Rey in 2027. Fire Pilates Club, an oceanfront Pilates studio, is also set to open in the area.

A historic 130-foot yacht now hosts dining and private events

The Northwind Experience recently launched aboard a 130-foot historic yacht, offering dining, cocktails and private events with harbor views. Other recent additions include STOA Wine Bar & Market, Cafe Cache, and Bitter Root Pottery Aqueous, a waterfront pottery studio.

The Marina del Rey Historical Society marks 20 years in 2027

The Marina del Rey Historical Society will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2027, showcasing artifacts tracing the area's transformation from wetlands into a Southern California waterfront destination.
