The recognition covers the product's innovation and consumer appeal specifically within the convenience store channel. Separately, the full Uglies Sweet Potato Chips lineup -- Original, Hot Honey, and Spicy BBQ -- received a Double Gold Award for Taste and Package Design in the 2026 Food & Beverage Magazine Summer CPG Awards.

The chips are made from sweet potatoes too imperfect for typical retail shelves

Uglies' Sweet Potato Chip line uses naturally imperfect sweet potatoes that might otherwise go unused due to cosmetic flaws. Through its Upcycled Certified products, the company says it helps farmers recover value from surplus and imperfect produce while cutting food waste across the agricultural supply chain. Since 2017, Uglies has rescued more than 38 million pounds of potatoes from waste.
