Solar Tour Opens Doors at Hundreds of U.S. Homes This Weekend

Boulder – – September 29, 2026 -- The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is opening hundreds of solar-powered homes, businesses and community sites across all fifty states to the public October 2-4, 2026, as part of its National Solar Tour Showcase Weekend.

Hundreds of host sites span residential rooftops to community solar gardens

Now in its 31st year, the National Solar Tour bills itself as the largest grassroots solar event in the United States. This year's Showcase Weekend includes residential rooftop systems, community solar gardens and net-zero homes, giving attendees a direct look at how solar and clean energy technologies function day to day.

Visitors can tour in person or join live virtual sessions from anywhere

Attendees can walk through host sites to see solar panels, battery storage and energy-efficient home features up close, and speak directly with homeowners, installers and solar advocates about their experience going solar. Those who can't attend in person can join virtual tours featuring photos, videos and live Q&A sessions, with virtual access available year-round.

ASES program director frames the event as a chance to ask direct questions

"Whether someone is actively considering solar or simply curious about what it looks like in their own neighborhood, this is a chance to see it in action and ask questions directly," said Ella Nielsen, ASES Programs Director.

FranklinWH serves as platinum sponsor alongside two regional solar firms

The tour is supported by platinum sponsor FranklinWH, along with additional sponsors Exact Solar and Belmont Solar. Visitors interested in incentives or financing options for starting their own solar installation can get guidance directly from participating hosts during the tours.

RSVP is required for in-person visits through the tour's official map and app

Attendees can RSVP for in-person tours at map.nationalsolartour.org or through the National Solar Tour app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
