New York – September 24, 2026 -- The Inner Circle has named David H. Lifschutz, MD, FAPA, a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for his contributions to psychiatry and mental health care.
Dr. Lifschutz has practiced psychiatry for more than 50 years
He treats patients age 13 and older through psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, and clinical psychopharmacology, with expertise in trauma treatment, ketamine assisted psychotherapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). His work also covers attachment disorders and aviation related mental health.
He works with pilots on FAA and HIMS related cases
As a private pilot with an instrument rating and more than 500 flight hours, Dr. Lifschutz has helped pilots manage addiction, panic attacks, and emotional challenges, including one case involving a young pilot experiencing cockpit panic attacks.
His training spans four institutions across two coasts
Dr. Lifschutz earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health after undergraduate studies in philosophy and premedical sciences at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He completed a rotating internship, psychiatric residency, and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry through the University of Southern California and Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, followed by seven years of psychoanalytic training through the NYU Postdoctoral Program for Psychoanalysis.
He holds board certification and hospital teaching duties
Board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Lifschutz is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He belongs to the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. As an attending staff psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, he supervises psychiatry residents.
His published work examines parenting and intimacy
Dr. Lifschutz authored the article "The Parents in the Next Room," which explores intimacy and relationships among parents raising young children. He has also been recognized by The Global Directory of Who's Who for his contributions to psychiatry and patient care.
