Global Influencers Tour Xiangxi's Ancient Towns and Rural Revival

Xiangxi – September 24, 2026 -- A delegation of international social media influencers traveled through the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture in Central China's Hunan province from Sept 22 to 24, exploring ethnic traditions, mountain landscapes, and rural development projects.

The tour started at Fenghuang Ancient Town's historic streets and river

Participants wore traditional Miao garments, sampled regional dishes, and cruised the Tuojiang River past rows of stilt houses. Thai journalist Pichayapa Sutabutra sang a love song on the river celebrating bonds beyond wealth and social standing.

Nigerian content creator Oluwabunmi Jimoh praised Fenghuang's scenery, cuisine, and cultural appeal, urging people to visit during the upcoming National Day holiday. French influencer Marius Etrillard highlighted the architecture and clear waters, noting the town's status as a 5A-rated tourist attraction in China.

Delegation visited a UNESCO World Heritage Site and ancient towns

The group viewed Furong town at night, known for its waterfalls, and toured Laosicheng, a UNESCO World Heritage Site tied to the ancient Tusi civilization. They also walked through the winding lanes of Qianzhou Ancient Town.

Aizhai Bridge and Dehang Miao village showcased engineering and daily life

The delegation observed the Aizhai Bridge spanning deep gorges and joined folk cooking activities in Dehang Miao village.

Shibadong village marked the birthplace of China's poverty-alleviation initiative

At Shibadong village, participants engaged in Miao embroidery and observed the village's development as an example of rural vitalization tied to China's targeted poverty-alleviation program. British influencer Joe Burns said it was an honor to see how local people have developed over time.
