San Ramon – September 23, 2026 -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and GM Energy have launched the Smart Charge Bundle, a program giving new Chevrolet, GMC, or Cadillac EV buyers a free home charger and a $15 monthly credit on their PG&E bill.
The offer is available at participating dealerships across Northern and Central California at the point of sale when customers purchase or lease a new EV.
Customers get a home charger worth up to $1,999 at no extra cost
Buyers can choose between a GM Energy PowerUp 2 charger, which delivers standard Level 2 home charging, or a PowerShift Charger, which supports bidirectional charging -- allowing energy to flow from the vehicle back into the home during a power outage when paired with compatible GM Energy equipment.
Enrollment happens directly through PG&E's EV Charge Manager program
Customers complete enrollment in EV Charge Manager as part of the vehicle purchase or lease process at the dealership. The program shifts vehicle charging to periods of lower electricity cost and demand, while still ensuring the car is ready when needed. Drivers can override a managed-charging session at any time.
Bill credits could total $15 to $65 a month
Enrolled customers receive a guaranteed $15 monthly bill credit and may save up to an additional $50 per month through managed charging, depending on how much they shift their charging schedule to off-peak periods.
WeaveGrid's software manages the charging behind the scenes
The optimization is powered by WeaveGrid, the software supplier for both GM and PG&E, which schedules charging to avoid straining local sections of the electric grid. WeaveGrid CEO and co-founder Apoorv Bhargava said the goal is to make charging simple and affordable without requiring customers to think about timing.
Customers can access the bundle through a participating Chevrolet, GMC, or Cadillac dealership or via the GM Energy Enrollment Portal.
