Coherix AI System Cuts Auto Assembly Downtime, Saves $22,500 Weekly

Ann Arbor, Michigan – September 18, 2026 -- Coherix's GlassMaster Tracker has eliminated up to five hours of weekly assembly line downtime for several automotive customers, generating estimated cost savings of $22,500 per week, according to company chairman and CEO Dwight Carlson.

System tracks parts in real time during adhesive application

Unlike conventional inspection systems that detect defects only after dispensing, the AI-based GlassMaster Tracker continuously monitors parts during adhesive application and automatically adjusts the robot dispensing path in real time. The system compensates for part-to-part variation in glass shape, battery-cover geometry and adhesive viscosity, reducing process variation and minimizing downtime caused by robot reprogramming.

Windshields provide up to 60 percent of vehicle structural strength

Improperly installed windshields or poorly sealed battery covers pose safety risks. A securely bonded windshield can supply up to 60 percent of a vehicle cabin's structural strength, helping prevent roof collapse in a rollover accident. Inadequate battery-pack sealing can cause moisture intrusion, battery failure and, in extreme cases, vehicle fires.

Carlson claims first 100 percent inline inspection with full traceability

Carlson said no other adhesive process control system on the market can track and automatically compensate for variations in glass shape or battery-cover geometry during dispensing. He described GlassMaster Tracker as the first solution offering 100 percent inline real-time inspection with full part traceability, giving OEMs confidence that every safety-critical bond has been properly applied.

Coherix records a permanent digital audit trail for every part

The system records and verifies the dispensing process for every part produced, creating a digital record confirming adhesives were applied as specified. This traceability supports quality audits, warranty investigations and regulatory compliance, giving manufacturers documented proof that each windshield and battery assembly meets process requirements.

Platform has inspected millions of parts since 2015 launch

Coherix has installed more than 6,000 systems since introducing the technology in 2015, inspecting millions of customer parts worldwide. The adaptive process control platform reflects an investment exceeding $100 million and more than 1,000,000 engineering hours.
