London Named World's Top Shopping Destination for 2026

New York – September 16, 2026 -- Travel And Tour World has released its Top 50 Shopping Destinations in the World for 2026, an editorial ranking based on research and comparative analysis of cities where retail experiences blend luxury, craftsmanship and culture.

London leads the global ranking for 2026

London tops the list, praised for stretches like Bond Street and Savile Row alongside Camden and Portobello markets, offering everything from British fashion and jewellery to antiques and premium tea.

Milan and New York City round out the top three

Milan ranks second, anchored by Via Montenapoleone and the Quadrilatero della Moda, known for designer labels and leather goods. New York City takes third, spanning Fifth Avenue flagships, SoHo boutiques and neighbourhood markets offering streetwear, beauty and electronics.

Asian shopping hubs claim four of the top ten spots

Shanghai ranks fourth, mixing futuristic malls with Nanjing Road's traditional shopping culture. Tokyo places sixth, where Ginza's luxury flagships meet Harajuku street fashion and Akihabara electronics. Seoul takes ninth position, driven by K-beauty and fashion across Myeongdong and Gangnam.

European capitals fill out the remaining top ten positions

Paris ranks fifth for its couture houses and flea markets, while Zurich takes seventh for Swiss watches and chocolate along Bahnhofstrasse. Sydney places eighth, and Vienna rounds out the top ten with jewellery and porcelain around Kärntner Strasse and the Goldenes Quartier.

The list extends well beyond the top ten cities

Dubai (11) and Singapore (12) follow for their mix of malls and traditional markets, while Berlin (13) and Athens (14) offer independent boutiques and centuries-old craft traditions. Barcelona (15), Ho Chi Minh City (16), Dublin (17), Prague (18), Amsterdam (19) and Kuala Lumpur (20) continue the ranking. Istanbul (21), Oslo (22), Mumbai (23), Toronto (24), Budapest (25), Stockholm (26), Copenhagen (27) and Brussels (28) complete the cities detailed in the release.

Anup Kumar Keshan, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Travel And Tour World, said shopping has become a way for travellers to encounter the culture and craftsmanship of a destination rather than simply a means to acquire goods, citing examples from London's retail streets to Marrakech's souks and Mexico City's artisan communities.
