Hoymiles Launches 22kW V2X Charger to Turn EVs Into Home Batteries

Hangzhou – September 10, 2026 -- Hoymiles has launched a new V2X DC charger capable of delivering up to 22 kW of power, designed to work directly with its HiOne All-in-One battery energy storage system (BESS) to link solar panels, home batteries, electric vehicles and the grid into one connected energy setup.

The charger lets EVs send power back into the house

The V2X DC charger supports bidirectional charging, meaning an EV battery can act as a backup power source during outages through Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology. It also supports Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality, letting households take part in peak-demand reduction and virtual power plant programs. The unit includes an EU MID-certified meter for accurate energy tracking.

Direct DC charging cuts wasted energy and charging time

Unlike AC chargers that rely on a vehicle's onboard charger to convert AC to DC, Hoymiles' V2X charger sends DC power directly from solar panels and batteries to the EV, skipping that conversion step and reducing energy loss. At 22 kW, it adds roughly 110 km of range per hour of charging, compared to about 35 km per hour with a standard AC charger. The company says the charger is compatible with 95% of mainstream electric vehicles on the market.

Built as a standalone unit for outdoor installation

The V2X charger is designed to be installed independently, for example next to a parking space, giving homeowners flexibility to place the HiOne BESS unit wherever it best fits their home's layout. It carries IP65 water resistance and IK10 impact protection for outdoor durability.

One app controls solar, storage and EV charging together

The V2X system runs on the same app used for Hoymiles' other home energy products, giving users a single view of their solar generation, storage and vehicle charging. Users can switch between a green energy mode and a fast-charging mode depending on their needs.
