Changzhou – September 10, 2026 -- Hoymiles has launched a 22kW DC V2X charger that lets electric vehicles feed power back into the home, expanding the company's residential energy ecosystem beyond solar and storage.
The charger turns parked EVs into backup power sources
The new device pairs with Hoymiles' HiOne All-in-One battery energy storage system (BESS), connecting solar panels, home batteries, EVs and the grid into a single managed system. Through Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology, the charger can supply backup power during grid outages. Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality also lets households participate in peak-shaving and virtual power plant (VPP) dispatch programs. An integrated EU MID-certified meter tracks energy use for monitoring purposes.
Direct DC charging cuts energy loss and charging time
Unlike AC chargers, which rely on a vehicle's onboard charger to convert AC power to DC, the Hoymiles V2X charges EVs directly with DC electricity from solar panels or home batteries. This bypasses the onboard converter and reduces energy losses during charging. At up to 22kW, the charger can add roughly 110 km of driving range per hour, compared to about 35 km per hour with a standard AC charger. Hoymiles says the unit is compatible with 95% of common EV models.
The standalone unit is built for outdoor installation
Designed as a freestanding device, the V2X charger can be installed near a parking spot independent of the HiOne storage unit, giving homeowners flexibility in system layout. It carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance and an IK10 rating for impact protection, making it suitable for outdoor use.
One app now manages solar, storage and EV charging together
The V2X charger runs on the same app-based platform as Hoymiles' other home energy products, giving users a single interface to monitor and control their system. Users can switch between a green-energy mode and a fast-charging mode depending on their needs.
