TrustKernel's Thumb-Sized PlugClaw Turns Any Device Into a Private AI Computer

London – September 09, 2026 -- TrustKernel has moved its PlugClaw device out of preorder and into general sale worldwide, pricing the thumb-sized AI computer at 128 EUR / 149 USD. The company also switched on a free confidential-inference service running on newly deployed servers.

PlugClaw is a full computer packed into a USB-C stick measuring 50 x 19 x 8 mm and weighing 15 grams. Inside sits a MediaTek Helio G80 processor, up to 6GB of memory, and 128GB of encrypted storage, running PlugOS -- a privacy-hardened Android build -- alongside Ubuntu as an agent runtime.

Plugging it into a phone or laptop creates an isolated AI workspace

Users insert PlugClaw into a phone, tablet, or PC, and the host device simply acts as a screen and input method. The AI agent, its apps, credentials, and work data all run inside PlugClaw's own environment, requiring no administrator access to the host and no visibility into the host's photos, documents, or accounts.

The device runs OpenClaw natively, paired with a graphical agent layer and Android-Use, letting it open apps, answer messages, organize files, and complete multi-step tasks. TrustKernel says any resulting errors stay confined to the device rather than spreading to the host system. PlugClaw supports Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac, Linux, and HarmonyOS, so the same apps, memory, and workflows carry over regardless of which device it's plugged into.

Frontier AI tasks run inside a hardware-secured cloud enclave

For tasks requiring more powerful frontier models, requests are processed inside a hardware-based trusted execution environment hosted in the cloud, which TrustKernel says blocks both the cloud provider and TrustKernel itself from accessing the data. In preliminary testing, TrustKernel found users chose confidential models over a cheaper, non-confidential option significantly more often. The company has now deployed dedicated servers offering free confidential inference capacity.

PlugClaw is a one-time hardware purchase with no subscription fee. Buyers can supply their own API keys or use preinstalled models, with $15 in credits included at purchase. Test units are available on request.
