London – September 09, 2026 -- A&S Resources Limited has secured $6 billion in financing from the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) to build a 1,350-kilometer railway linking its iron ore deposits in the Central African Republic (CAR) to the deep-water port of Kribi in Cameroon, unlocking access to a resource base valued at approximately $2.5 trillion.
Financing clears the path for a landlocked resource base worth $2.5 trillion
The CAR project sits atop what geologists describe as one of the world's largest magnetic anomalies, with resource potential exceeding 20 billion tonnes of predominantly high-grade iron ore. A&S Resources also holds critical minerals, rare earth elements, copper and other strategic raw materials in the region.
New rail line removes the primary infrastructure barrier to export
The double-track, heavy-haul railway will carry 250,000 tonnes of freight per day, with capacity expandable to 300,000 tonnes. By connecting the landlocked CAR directly to Kribi's deep-water port, the line eliminates a longstanding logistical obstacle that has kept the deposit undeveloped despite its scale.
China Railway Sixth Group to build the line, backed by 6,200 km of African rail experience
Construction will be carried out by China Railway Sixth Group Co., Ltd (CRSG), a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited, which has already completed more than 6,200 kilometers of railway projects across Africa. Topographic and technical surveys along the route have already begun, with operational mobilization targeted for late 2026.
Financing follows earlier mining, logistics and offtake agreements signed this year
The EXIM Bank commitment builds on strategic agreements A&S Resources signed earlier in 2026 covering mine development, railway construction, export logistics and long-term offtake arrangements. The company frames the infrastructure as a catalyst for broader industrial and agricultural development in both the Central African Republic and Cameroon, alongside job creation and skills investment.
