Riyadh – September 09, 2026 -- Quantinuum has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Aramco, one of the world's largest integrated energy and chemicals companies, to explore industrial use cases for quantum computing and lay groundwork for a potential fault-tolerant quantum computing research collaboration.
Companies plan preliminary technical integration and knowledge exchange
Under the MOU, Quantinuum and Aramco intend to carry out an initial phase of technical integration and knowledge-sharing activities. The two parties will identify challenges facing Aramco that could be suited to quantum computing research, with emphasis on solving complex problems in energy and digital transformation.
Collaboration targets future quantum systems and cross-modality benchmarking
The agreement aims to assess how future generations of quantum systems could address major scientific and industrial challenges, while comparing different quantum computing modalities. The partnership builds on Aramco's existing initiatives to position itself as a leader in applying advanced quantum technologies within the energy sector, supporting its digital transformation efforts and contribution to an energy-sector quantum computing roadmap.
Quantinuum CEO says early expertise-building is key for quantum adopters
"Organizations that want to leverage quantum computing must start today to develop their expertise, algorithms and workflows,
