LOS ANGELES – September 03, 2026 -- Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed that its free-to-play team fighter DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA will shift from a top-down camera to a third-person, over-the-shoulder view as part of a Year-End Overhaul, the company revealed during a "SQUADRA Talk" livestream.
The change, aimed at pulling players closer to the action, will arrive alongside simplified win conditions and a redesigned battle system, though team-based strategy will remain central to the 4v4 format. Bandai Namco said the overhaul was shaped by player feedback collected since the game's launch.
Season 7 launches September 9 with Super Gogeta as a new playable hero.
The update marks the game's first anniversary and adds the fusion warrior to the roster, alongside Android 19 as a new Technical-role Helper and San-Shinron as a new boss. From Season 7 onward, the boss lineup will rotate every two weeks.
Players can claim up to 140 free G-Capsules across two campaign periods.
Seven anniversary campaigns will run through the season, including daily capsule drops, login rewards such as a 1st Anniversary Party Hat, Special Passes, and a "GEKISHIN Rules Play Campaign" starting September 9 featuring a special SP Cell Jr. in matches. A Lucky Box Battle event will let teams collect boxes together for rewards.
Halloween skins and more tournaments are planned before year's end.
Bandai Namco said additional content, including Halloween-themed skin bundles, Special Passes, and in-game tournaments, will roll out through the second half of Season 7. The company plans to share further Year-End Overhaul details throughout the rest of 2026, and players can submit questions via the game's official Discord.
DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and mobile devices through the App Store and Google Play, free to play with optional in-app purchases.
