Iowa, Grant County officials mourn unexpected death of Muscoda police officer

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Law enforcement agencies are mourning the unexpected death of a Muscoda Police Department officer Monday morning.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa County Sheriff’s Office both shared statements about the loss of officer Kate Fleischauer.

Officer Fleischauer served at the police department for 12 years.

“Her passing is a tremendous loss, not only to the Muscoda Police Department, but to the entire law enforcement and emergency services family,” Iowa County Sheriff Michael Peterson said.

Muscoda Police Chief Bill Schramm said officer Fleischauer’s cause of death is undetermined, and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

Funeral arrangements and details on law enforcement honors are expected to be announced later.
