Seoul – October 05, 2026 -- LG Electronics will supply an integrated cockpit solution for Renault Group's New Trafic E-Tech Electric, marking the automaker's first mass-produced commercial vehicle built on a software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture. The vehicle has won the International Van of the Year award.
LG combines instrument cluster and infotainment into a single control platform
The solution merges the instrument cluster, which displays vehicle speed, RPM and warning indicators, with the infotainment system handling navigation and media playback. This consolidation replaces the dozens of dedicated electronic control units (ECUs) found in conventional vehicles with a centralized software architecture, a shift that also enables over-the-air feature upgrades.
Automakers gain cost savings through component simplification
By unifying previously separate cockpit systems, LG's architecture allows Renault to simplify components and optimize system design, reducing production costs while delivering a more consistent UX/UI across vehicle displays.
Partnership traces back over a decade of supplier recognition
LG was named an outstanding supplier by Renault Group in 2014, 2017 and 2020, and the two companies co-developed an Android-based automotive infotainment system in 2021. The New Trafic E-Tech Electric cockpit solution builds directly on that collaboration.
"Building on our close collaboration with Renault Group and other global automakers, we will continue to advance the core technologies and solutions needed to support the mobility industry's transition to SDVs,
