West Virginia American Water Launches $100,000 Pipe Upgrade in Eleanor

Eleanor, W.Va. – October 05, 2026 -- West Virginia American Water is investing $100,000 to replace 580 feet of aging pipe with 2-inch PVC main on Eleanor Alley in Eleanor.

Crews began work the week of September 23 along Eleanor Alley

The project spans from Cypress Street to the area behind the residence at 2371 Charleston Road. Work is scheduled for completion by the end of October, with final street restoration set for fall 2026. Crews operate Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with traffic restrictions in place for the duration.

Scott Wyman cites proactive investment in community infrastructure

Statewide spending reaches more than $129 million in 2026

The Eleanor Alley project forms part of a broader company plan to invest over $129 million in infrastructure upgrades across West Virginia this year. Economic impact studies cited by the company indicate that every $1 million invested in water infrastructure generates upwards of 10 jobs in local economies.

Decade-long investment totals more than $805 million in the state

Over the past ten years, West Virginia American Water has invested over $805 million in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades, including more than 168 miles of new water main. During construction on Eleanor Alley, customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, or lower-than-normal water pressure.
