Sport Clips Offers Free Veterans Day Haircuts, Launches 13th Scholarship Drive

Georgetown, Texas – October 05, 2026 -- Veterans and active-duty service members can get a free haircut at participating Sport Clips locations on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, as the haircare chain launches its 13th annual Help A Hero fundraising campaign.

The campaign runs Oct. 5 through Nov. 14, 2026, with donations collected at participating Sport Clips stores nationwide to benefit the VFW's Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship program.

The program has funded more than 3,600 scholarships since it began

Sport Clips, its clients, franchisees, team members and product partners have raised nearly $17 million through the campaign, funding over 3,600 scholarships via the VFW Foundation for veterans and service members pursuing civilian education and training.

"As an Air Force veteran, I understand how important it is for those who have served to have opportunities to build what comes next," said Gordon Logan, founder and chairman of Sport Clips and a VFW Life member. Logan added that client generosity each year makes the scholarships possible.

VFW leadership says the scholarships close a real financial gap

VFW National Commander Cory Geisler said many veterans earn education benefits during service but watch them expire before finishing a degree, leaving a gap the Help A Hero program helps close for veterans and military families.

An NFL player and a scholarship recipient are backing this year's push

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Landon Robinson, a 2026 U.S. Naval Academy graduate and Marine Corps second lieutenant selected by Cincinnati in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, is helping raise awareness for the campaign while serving in the reserves and pursuing his football career.

U.S. Army veteran Michael Ventura, a three-time scholarship recipient, is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at Texas State University after more than three years of Army service, including time in South Korea. Ventura, who settled in Austin, is set to graduate in fall 2027 and has worked as a teaching assistant and creative writing instructor at the Hays County Jail.

Eligible veterans can receive up to $5,000 per semester

The VFW's Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship provides up to $5,000 per semester toward tuition and fees for veterans and service members ranking E-5 and below.
