Baltimore – October 05, 2026 -- Transamerica's pooled retirement plan assets climbed nearly 61% over five years, rising from $21.3 billion in 2021 to $34.2 billion in 2025, as the insurer marks its 25th year in the pooled plan market.

Transamerica ranks No. 1 in PEP adopting employers for second consecutive year

According to PLANSPONSOR's 2026 Recordkeeping Survey, Transamerica topped the industry in Pooled Employer Plan (PEP) adopting employers and led in multiple other pooled plan metrics, including the most MEP and PEP contracts serviced and the most MEP participants serviced. The survey also credited the company with the highest year-over-year growth rates in both pooled plan assets and participants. The number of employers adopting Transamerica's pooled plans has grown nearly 40% over the same five-year period.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in September 2025 that 41% of private-sector employees at businesses with fewer than 100 employees lack access to retirement benefits. Pooled structures such as Multiple Employer Plans, Pooled Employer Plans and the Retirement Plan Exchange are designed to reduce the administrative, fiduciary and operational barriers that keep smaller employers from offering such plans.

Transamerica Institute finds 48% of non-sponsoring employers would consider pooled options

A May 2026 study from the nonprofit Transamerica Institute found that nearly half of employers without a standalone retirement plan would consider joining a PEP, MEP or defined contribution group as an alternative. The finding points to continued demand growth following the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act of 2019, which introduced PEPs and reshaped the pooled plan market after years of industry advocacy.

Company deepens integration across product, distribution and operations

Transamerica said it is expanding investment in the people, resources and capabilities supporting its pooled plan business, with efforts led by Stanley Kim, Director and Pooled Plan Practice Leader. "As demand for these solutions continues to grow, we're working alongside advisors, TPAs and other retirement plan partners to strengthen the support available to employers and expand access to retirement savings for more workers,
