Indianapolis – October 05, 2026 -- CAMINUS, formerly EnPower, has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with Amprius Technologies (NYSE: AMPX) to produce Amprius-designed silicon-anode pouch cells at its Indianapolis facility, adding domestic capacity for the aviation, defense, and uncrewed systems markets. Qualification builds are already underway, with volume production scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Agreement covers full production chain from partial assembly to finished cells
The deal spans the entire cell production process, from partial assembly of Amprius-supplied components to full cell manufacturing. This staged structure allows different cell formats to be produced according to their volume needs and qualification status, supporting Amprius's contract manufacturing strategy of expanding capacity with minimal capital investment.
CAMINUS operates a 92,000-square-foot vertically integrated facility
CAMINUS's Indianapolis plant handles slurry mixing, electrode coating, automated cell assembly, and formation under one roof. The facility supports an NDAA Section 842-conforming supply chain, a requirement for defense and uncrewed-systems customers seeking domestically produced battery cells.
Executives cite manufacturing execution as a bottleneck in Western battery supply chains
"Manufacturing execution is a critical bottleneck in Western supply chains and is increasingly a differentiating right to win," said Adrian Yao, founder and CEO of CAMINUS. He added that combining advanced product designs with established manufacturing capabilities enables faster speed to market for domestically produced cells.
Ronnie Tao, Chief Business Officer at Amprius, said building a resilient, NDAA-compliant supply chain is central to how the company serves its defense customers, noting that CAMINUS's pouch cell expertise aligns with Amprius's requirements.
Contract manufacturing is one of two CAMINUS business lines
Alongside producing its own cell and pack products, CAMINUS offers contract manufacturing services ranging from toll electrode coating through finished cells, positioning the Indianapolis site as a domestic production option for battery developers seeking NDAA-conforming capacity.
