Lund, Sweden – October 05, 2026 -- Alfa Laval has initiated full integration of Desmet, the process engineering specialist it acquired in 2022, with completion targeted for July 2027.
Alfa Laval merges Desmet into its Food & Pharma Division after four years as a standalone unit
Desmet, including its RoseDowns and Stolz brands, has operated separately since Alfa Laval's 2022 acquisition. The company will now be absorbed into Alfa Laval's Business Unit Process Engineering Solutions, with the Desmet name retained as a product and process technology brand rather than a standalone entity.
Combined technology stack spans the full value chain from seed to end product
Desmet's upstream extraction and processing expertise will be paired with Alfa Laval's separation, heat transfer and downstream processing technologies. The companies state this creates a broader engineered-solutions offering aimed at simplifying project execution and reducing complexity for customers in oils, fats and biofuel production.
Sales and service network to reach local teams in more than 150 countries
The merged global sales, service and supply network will extend Desmet's specialist customer relationships through Alfa Laval's wider infrastructure. Sammy Hulpiau, President of the Food & Pharma Division, said bringing the capabilities together allows the companies to offer more integrated solutions and accelerate innovation while preserving the specialist know-how customers associate with Desmet.
Integration proceeds in phases to protect ongoing projects and partner continuity
Alfa Laval said the phased approach is designed to maintain continuity for customers, partners and projects already underway during the transition period through mid-2027.
Desmet brings 80 years of processing engineering history to the combined unit
Founded in Belgium in 1946, Desmet has built over 80 years of experience in engineering technologies for oils and fats, proteins, feed and biofuels prior to becoming part of Alfa Laval in 2022.
