Singapore – October 04, 2026 -- Seatrium Limited has secured its ninth Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) conversion contract from Karpowership, extending a partnership that began in 2018.
LNGT Akdeniz will deliver 600 MMscfd regasification capacity
The newly awarded vessel, LNGT Akdeniz, will convert an LNG carrier into an FSRU with a regasification capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day. Seatrium's scope covers engineering, conversion, integration, installation and commissioning of regasification equipment, with work scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
Project follows delivery of seven FSRUs since 2018
The award comes after the successful naming and sail-away of LNGT Türkiye and builds on seven prior FSRU deliveries completed since 2018. An eighth unit, LNGT Karadeniz, is currently under conversion. LNGT Akdeniz is the second project to materialize under a prior Letter of Intent between the two companies, which also provides for up to six new-generation Powerships.
Karpowership's LNG fleet to expand to 12 vessels
LNGT Akdeniz will join the fleet of Kinetics, Karpowership's energy transition initiative, expanding its LNG asset count to 12 vessels including units in the pipeline. Karpowership separately operates a fleet of 45 Powerships with more than 8,500 MW of installed capacity.
Seatrium counts 22 FSRU and FSU conversions since 2007
Seatrium has completed 22 FSRU and FSU conversion projects since 2007, positioning it among the global leaders in floating LNG infrastructure. Gokhan Kocak, Chief Technical Operations Officer at Karpowership, said the FSRU deliveries strengthen the company's ability to provide reliable energy solutions in markets where energy security is critical.
